This is one of those book that while I enjoyed it I didn’t love it and that was mainly due to the fact that I had a hard time connecting with the characters. However I will admit this is one sexy story with so much heat that the geeky hero would probably love to harness the electricity that flows between them. Yes, the hero is a geek but he is a sexy alpha geek and the heroine is kind of flighty and has a lot of personal issues that drive me a bit insane and this is one of those cases where I think a longer book with more time to fully develop the characters and delve into their relationship would have made it a better book.
Bruno Brandt thinks he “knows” the sexy as sin DJ at the bar he’s at because he sees her every day at the strip center near his office dressed in her boring work clothes, talking with her boring dentist boss but she looks different tonight and she looks like someone who is anything but boring and someone he’d like to know a whole lot better especially when she opens her mouth and speaks. Her voice affects him like no other and when he finally kisses her he knows together they will be electric.
Aribella (Ari) Madden is a commitment-phobe who can’t wait to get out of the small town she grew up in and not be the talk of the town. Airy admits she loves men, she just doesn’t want to keep them and she’s dated almost every available man in town. But when a new man sets his sights on her she’s worried he could be the one to derail her plans and that’s a risk she’s not willing to take.
Their encounters were smokin’ hot from the very first to the very last and I loved that they weren’t afraid to show their sexual sides to one another right off the bat. However when it became apparent there was a little more going on than just sex Ari drove me nuts with her stubbornness and her reluctance to let Bruno in at all. I give Bruno a lot of credit for figuring out what triggers Ari’s freak-outs and not letting her push him away once he realized he wanted more from the flighty woman. They have to sort through a lot of family craziness and while it was necessary for the reader to see it so we could better understand Ari, it also took away time from the romance that was needed to make it believable.
Switch Me On is hot and sexy, but it needed a little more plot to make it a great story.

Oh my! I typically LOVE the Red Hot reads from Cosmo, but this one, well, not so much. It wasn't the story per-se (which also fell a bit flat for me), but it was the writing. I've never read anything so oddly crafted. It's hard to articulate exactly what it was about the writing, but it was just...off. Maybe a mixed bag of stream of consciousness, over capitalization and punctuation? Maybe it would have come across more normal had it been in audio? Dunno. I made it through though, but didn't end up feeling any better about it by the end of the book. Bummer.

Cosmo Red-Hot Reads seems to be hit or miss. This one was a little bit of a miss for me. I just didn't connect with the Ari and Bruno.

Ari is a twin, the bad twin. She is the complete opposite of her perfect sister, meaning she doesn't live her life according to her parent's plans. They live in a small town where everyone's business is on display and Ari has dated way too many of the men. She's looking to make a big change in her life. She's hoping to land a huge account with her voiceover company and relocate to a City. When Bruno, "Mr. Electricity", shows up in town she's determined not to let their one-night stand turn into more. She doesn't want her plans to be derailed. There is a bunch of family drama that ensues, which dragged the story down a bit. Mom Mad drove me crazy!

And here we have another of the Cosmo hot reads. I don't know how many I've read and I only just figured out they all mention Cosmo magazine at one point in the story.

This is Ari (as in Airy) Madden's story. She has been the bad twin to her sister Lizzie's good twin all her life. She also has dated just about every male in the small town she grew up in. But now she's making the move away from her family and her career as a voice over artist is on the up and up.

Not the right time for Bruno Brandt to move into town and distract her from her plan. Bruno is 6'4" of hot, sexy and SMART man. He falls in love with Ari's voice and in lust with her body before they even said hello.

There are complications of course. The first being when Bruno mistakes prim Lizzie for her sister. There is also a good reason for Ari calling her parent Mom Mad and Dad Mad.

Overall this is a steamy hot read but it works up to it a little slower than some other Cosmo reads. The characters are engaging and the story is satisfying for a short read.

My Thoughts:

I'm not sure what it was about this story, but I had a hard time really getting into it. I guess what it comes down to for me is that it could have been better. For a Cosmo Red Hot Reads book, it kind of fell a little flat, but only a little. It was still good.

The relationship between Ari and Bruno had its moments and you are definitely intrigued. There are some lovely scenes between them, sweet and passionate. You want to see everything work out for them in the end and you cheer for it. Ari isn't perfect like her twin sister, and that's fine because she is who she is and she makes no apology for it.

Switch Me On is a nice little story. I was compelled enough to keep reading Ari and Bruno's story, even though there were moments I got a little bored. However, I did enjoy it enough that I would like to see what else Julie McBride has up her sleeve.

“I’ve got PhDs in physics and engineering, but the energy between you and me is a mystery I can’t figure out.”

Switch Me On is a Cosmo Red Hot Read that had some very steamy, memorable love scenes plus a surprising plot twist that completely changed the dynamics between our main characters.

Bruno and Ari started off as a case of opposites attract at the beginning of the story. He’s a rich geeky guy, and she’s a free-spirited local gal. But I liked how as it progressed we learn about Bruno’s sexy alpha side. Who knew he’d have such a filthy mouth?

I had a hard time getting into this one. It felt like it skipped around a little to where I had to go back and reread a few paragraphs because I felt like I missed an important part but it turns out there was just a lot of inferred things until you find out a little plot twist that makes the rereading make sense (you'll understand what I mean if you read this one).

Ari was hard to feel empathy for (although I felt more once you see what a nag her mom is) but Mr Electricity aka Bruno, he was a hero that I was cheering for to get his HEA!!
