Sadistic Obsession: A Dark RH Romance

Rate this book
They call me Phoenyxx, and I’ve been surviving hell my whole life.

I've spent the last ten years going from one nightmare to the next. I remember nothing before the age of eight, only the pain I've endured ever since.

When I have finally had enough, my breaking point lands me at The Retreat, a reform school for the broken and dangerous.

This place isn’t just a school, it’s a prison wrapped in dangerous secrets. And ruling it all? The Sadistic Six. They run the place with their twisted games and darker desires. They want to own me. Break me. Ruin me.

They’re cruel, cold, and absolutely obsessed with making me bend.

But I don't break. Not anymore. And I’ve never been good at playing nice.

The games get dirtier, the punishments sharper, and the obsession hotter. I should run. I should hide. But instead, I bare my teeth and tempt the devils.

At The Retreat, pain is power, and trust is a death sentence. But if I want answers about my past, and a future that’s mine, I’ll have to become more than a survivor. I’ll have to become their obsession. Their rival. Maybe even... theirs.

This is Book 1 of a pitch black, twisty, why-choose romance trilogy. Expect enemies-to-lovers angst, brutal bullies, dark secrets, spicy scenes, and a heroine who refuses to be tamed. Cliffhanger ending. HEA by the series finale—on their terms.

I always appreciate the time an author takes to write a story. No matter the content. Unfortunately, this book missed the mark for me. Seemed very rushed with many over explanations and explanation marks. I’ve read many dark stories but they need to make sense on why they’re cruel. Seemed like a lot was written for shock value rather than character development. This story reads like someone’s first attempt at a book. A little more research on how to structure a book is needed. That being said, I still enjoyed parts of the book. I liked the world that was made and am interested in seeing where the author takes it.

This is book 1 of a trilogy. It's dark, spicy, and has enemies to lovers and reverse harem tropes. The main character Phoenyxx, has so much past trauma, it's heartbreaking. She ends up at a reform school called The Retreat. It's a place run by the Sadistic Six and they are intent on breaking Phoenyxx. But can a broken person be broken anymore? Warning for tr!ggers, this book is pitch black and has many possible tr!ggers so check your warnings. This book was very interesting and the fast paced plot kept me turning pages till the very end. Phoenyxx is such an intriguing character you just want to know what happens with her next. It does end n a cliffhanger. I can't wait for part two.

The trigger warnings are there for a reason, but this is an incredible book. It is without a doubt unhinged and I couldn’t get enough of it.

IT IS A PITCH BLACK DARK ROMANCE BOOK.

I am reeling as I was so into the book and then it just ended and left me hanging. This book hasn’t even been released yet and I was blessed to receive an early copy through book sprout in exchange for my honest review and I have no regrets at all.

I will be looking out for the next book. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to read this ahead of time. I would read it over and over again.

For readers seeking the absolute limits of dark romance, GINA V. BADD’s SADISTIC OBSESSION RISE OF PHOENYXX BOOK 1 delivers on its promise of an intense, no-holds-barred experience. This book isn’t just dark; it’s a veritable trigger warning haven, living up to its explicit content advisory that lists “literally ALL of the trigger warnings.”
From the outset, Phoenyxx’s journey is steeped in trauma, from childhood abuse and amnesia to being thrown into the clutches of the “Sadistic Six” at a reform school that’s more prison than sanctuary. The narrative unflinchingly explores themes of DubCon, NonCon, SA (on and off page), extreme violence, humiliation, and psychological torment. The “enemies-to-lovers” trope here is twisted into a brutal power dynamic, where the line between pain and pleasure, fear and arousal, becomes disturbingly blurred for the protagonist.
Much like Anne Rice’s Sleeping Beauty series, SADISTIC OBSESSION delves into explicit, controversial sexual dynamics rooted in power, control, and non-consent, pushing boundaries that many mainstream romances wouldn’t dare approach. It’s a raw, visceral exploration of a survivor’s fight, even as her body sometimes betrays her with unexpected reactions to the very acts she despises. The “Sadistic Obsession” isn’t just about the antagonists; it’s about the protagonist’s own complex, often contradictory, responses to extreme situations.
If you are a reader who actively seeks out the most extreme corners of dark romance, who is unphased by graphic depictions of violence, sexual assault, and psychological manipulation, and who understands that an “HEA (Their kind, anyway)” might involve deeply disturbing elements, then SADISTIC OBSESSION RISE OF PHOENYXX BOOK 1 is precisely what you’re looking for. Be warned: this is not for the faint of heart, but for those who crave a truly unsettling and provocative read, Phoenyxx’s rise from the ashes promises a gripping, if harrowing, ride.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I’ll admit at first, I was a little hesitant to read this book, but once I got through the first few chapters I couldn’t put it down. I’m going to be honest since I read a lot of dark romance. This book is dark. Some of the things that Phoenyxx suffered through were hard to read, and I honestly found myself skimming through some of it. The book also ends on a cliffhanger.. Which, let's be honest, is really frustrating, and I hope the author will publish the second book soon so we can see what happens next.
Sadistic Obsession, book 1 in the Rise of Phoenyxx series begins the story of a young girl who suffers amnesia, with no memories prior to her eighth birthday. When someone rescues her and brings her to live with Betty and Matthew Solomon, she finally gets an identity as Phoenyxx Solomon. Thinking she will finally have a loving home, Phoenyxx’s world is quickly turned into a living nightmare, but when Phoenyxx finally fights back, her “parents” send her off to The Retreat, where her previous nightmares pale in comparison to the new horrors that await her at every turn - especially at the hands of the Sadistic Six; Joseph Franco (Synn), James Barbieri (Trixx), Antonio Marino (Razor), Damien Aslanov (Frost), Alexsey Petrov (Ghost), and Nikolai Volkov (Purge). Not to mention Destiny Harrington, who will stop at nothing to make Phoenyxx’s life hell.. But along the way she manages to form at least one friendship with another student named Valley, who has her back for most of the abuse.

Everyone calls her Phoenyxx, and she's been surviving hell her entire life.

Phoenyxx has spent the last ten years of her life jumping from one nightmare to the next. She doesn't remember anything before the age of 8, all she remembers is all the pain that she's endured ever since.

The day finally comes when Phoenyxx says enough is enough, and in trying to break from all the pain, she ends up at The Retreat, a reform school for those who are broken and dangerous.

Phoenyxx quickly learns that The Retreat is more than just a school, it's actually a prison that's wrapped up in dangerous secrets. And Phoenyxx quickly learns that The Retreat is run by The Sadistic Six. They love to run the place with their own kind of twisted games and even darker desires. Now they have their eyes set on her and they want to own Phoenyxx. Break her. Ruin her.

Phoenyxx can see that they are cruel, cold, and worst of all they are absolutely obsessed with not only her but with making her bend to their sadistic will.

But they don't understand that Phoenyxx isn't one to break easily. Not anymore. And The Sadistic Six don't understand that Phoenyxx isn't good at playing nice with anyone.

As the games that the Sadistic Six play with Phoenyxx start to get dirtier and dirtier, the punishments start to get harsher and even sharper, and their obsession with Phoenyxx keeps on growing and getting hotter and hotter. Phoenyxx knows that she needs to find a way to run, to get away from these six sadistic fools, either that or hide. But, instead, Phoenyxx straightens her spine, sharpens her nails, bares her teeth, and she tempts the very devils who plague her.

Phoenyxx soon finds that at The Retreat, pain is power, and trust, that is an instant death sentence. But Phoenyxx is searching for answers about her past and reclaiming the memories she can't recall and she is determined to grab the future that's hers and hers alone. She knows that she's going to have to soon become more than just a survivor or just their obsession. She's going to have to become their rival.

This is the 1st book in a pitch black, twisted, why-choose romance trilogy. You can expect enemies to become lovers, all the angst you can handle, brutal bullies, dark secrets, spicy hot scenes, and an FMC who refuses to be tamed or broken. Cliffhanger ending and an HEA by the final book – one that will be on their terms.

YOU'RE MENTAL HEALTH MATTERS!!! Please read and pay attention to the trigger warnings before you start reading this book. There is content and subject matter in this book including some scenes that could be triggering to some readers. Please always remember that your mental health comes first at all times.

Tropes: Dark Romance, Reverse Harem, Amnesia, Bully Romance, Mafia, Age Gap, and Enemies-to-Lovers.

Sadistic Obsession is the 1st book of the Rise of Phoenyxx series by Gina V. Badd. This book is perfect for readers who are searching for the absolute limits of dark romance, and this book is redefining just how dark a dark romance can be. There is a reason there are so many trigger warnings included at the beginning of this book.

Phoenyxx broke my heart. Her story shattered my heart, it's dripping with trauma, she was abused from the beginning, her childhood was one of abuse and trauma, finding that she is handed amnesia and can't remember anything before the age of 8 and then being handed into the hands of the “Sadistic Six” at a so called reform school that should actually be called a prison rather than a school or a sanctuary.

Gina's narrative doesn't flinch away from any of the dark themes like DubCon, NonCon, SA (that's both on and off the page), there is extreme violence, humiliation, and even psychological torment. In Sadistic Obsession, Gina used the “enemies-to-lovers” trope as a twisted and brutal power dynamic. She blurred the lines between pain and pleasure, fear and arousal and this is all painfully blurred for our FMC.

Sadistic Obsession is really a lot like Anne Rice's Sleeping Beauty series I found. Gina delves into such explicit, dubious sexual dynamics that are rooted in power, control, and non-consent. Gina continually pushes all the boundaries that a lot of the mainstream dark romances that you typically read don't even think about touching.

Sadistic Obsession is this raw, innate exploration of one survivor's fight, even though her body betrayed her at times with unexpected reactions to the “Sadistic Six” and acts that she hates and despises to her bones. But, the “Sadistic Obsession” isn't just about all the antagonists; this book is also a book about the FMC and her complex, many times contradictory, responses and reactions to the extreme situations that she finds herself in.

If you are a reader looking to push the boundaries of dark romance, and you are unfazed by graphic violence, SA, and psychological manipulation and who understand that sometimes an HEA might look disturbing to some people and could have disturbing elements, then Sadistic Obsession and Rise of Phoenyxx series is just for you.

Just remember, you have been warned that you need a strong constitution to read this book and this series. Gina has written this book and series for those who truly are looking for the unsettling and provocative elements in their next read.

Sadistic Obsession is one of the few books that I will recommend with the caveat that you take the trigger warnings seriously and that you remember that DNFing a book is not a sin. Your mental health always comes first and should never be put at risk for any book no matter what.

I do plan to read the next book in the series as I want to know what happens next. And yes, I know, there is something wrong with me and there's something broken in me that I love this kind of book. Gina has given me my new perfect book and series and I can't wait to see what happens next with Phoenyxx and the Sadistic Six.

And I am going to be looking at Gina's other works as well as I enjoyed this book and I hope that her other books as just as dirty and dark as this one was.

i really do not write reviews unless a book makes me feel strong emotions. i also am marking this as read but i couldn’t get past page 17. the writing reads like a 12 year old wrote it. the characters have 0 personality. and why are there so many words in caps? like so far every page has had a word in caps. there are other ways to add emphasis and this isn’t the way. this was really bad. i tried to read it 5 separate times and still could not get over all these things.

I’m going to start out by saying I was hooked in this book the first night that I started reading it. I couldn’t put it down and I got about 53% through but so much happened that I put it down and I was working up the courage to dive into it again and I finally got the chance to do that last night and I stayed up late last night and I finished the rest of it today.

I would definitely say read the trigger warnings. There is a lot that happens. There’s a lot of things that will be hard for some readers that don’t read dark romance to this extent. If this is something that you are interested in reading, I definitely suggest it. Just make sure to read the trigger warning before diving in.

Now, I am going to start my full review and there may be some spoiler alerts so please be advised that if you do not want any spoilers or partial spoilers just stop right here. If you don’t mind it go ahead and continue because I need somewhere to pretty much vent off everything that happened because I don’t know on how to process the ending other than diving right into the second book because I have a lot of unanswered questions and I need to know what happens because this book puts you on a ride.

So I’m gonna start out by saying,I don’t really like Synn…. And when you get about halfway through, you will understand why. the other male main characters I came to really care for and closer to the ending was when Synn showed some kind of humanity. They all did until the ending. I really wanna know why the six’s farthers are so invested in Phoenixx and why they want the boys to pretty much break her she doesn’t know who she is or who she was and we don’t get that answer in this book and that is what I’m hoping that I will find out in the second book. My heart is breaking for Phoenixx at the end. Because all her life she’s been alone and she finally gets a best friend and because of the sixes fathers telling them that they have to do something to break her. They did the one thing that would drive anybody mad and break them. We all need a friend like Valley! I just loved her so much and I don’t know on how to process what happened to her at the end. I know my thoughts are a little bit jumbled because I’m still trying to process everything so I apologize if I keep jumping back-and-forth between things while I’m explaining a few things that happened, but my heart also kind of goes out to Synn at one point in the last few chapters when his father comes and his father told him that he doesn’t love him, and that is something that is hard for any child to hear from their parents rather their adults or not so we tried underlying himself because of what his father said, hands of getting taken to an unknown infirmary that nobody knew about and Phoenix wanted to be with him so she ends up doing harm to herself to get back there. They did things that they called treatments and I wanna necessarily call that treatment. What they did was torture, but during that time that they were in the infirmary or whatever they wanted to call it Phoenix and Synn got somewhat close and that is why I said that he started showing some kind of humanity until all of their fathers got there and honestly, I have a feeling that their father’s are all behind this and I also have a feeling that the six‘s fathers also are the reasons why Phoenix is who she is right now. This is just a theory, but what are the reason? Would they have to be so invested in her if they have no reason why or no knowledge why she doesn’t have her memories or doesn’t remember anything before the age of eight their fathers have something to do with what is going on at that supposed reform school.

Like I said so much happened in this book it is so good but it is so dark and I am diving into the next book because I need answers like today but overall this was a really good book. I gave it this review because any book that can make me cry at parts make me angry make me happy make me go on an emotional roller coaster deserves the five stars and I know many may not like this due to the context that are in it and it is hard, but if you don’t mind dark romance, and you like reading things that are going to pretty much put you in a world wind of emotions that you have no control over this is an amazing book. I can’t say series yet because I haven’t started book 2, but I am going to and I honestly feel like this is going to be one of my favorite dark romance book series.

Phoenyxx grows up with heavily abusive foster parents. Once she turns 18, she is dumped into some kind of educational institution for troubled youth. And her torment continues led by the notorious Sadistic Six, the boys/men who rule the place and also happen to be Mafia and Bratva heirs. But everyone else there is also just plain violent.

The concept had potential in that dark and messy guilty pleasure way, but the execution crashed.
Character motivations were murky at best and dialogue often felt overly juvenile, which made it harder to connect with the characters. Random words were in capital letters (for emphasis?) and exclamation marks were all over the place.
There’s little emotional foundation for the romance, just a bunch of guys suddenly fixated on Phoenyxx.
Timing and pacing also feels off, such as when Phoenyxx immediately becomes “bffs’ with a girl she met a minute ago.
Oh yeah, the fathers of the Six are all heads or high up in the Italian mafia or Bratva and they have nothing more important on their minds but to ensure that some random 18-year old is tortured.

Paired with inconsistencies in the narrative, e.g. her not being given cake and presents for her birthday, then later there was cake or two characters getting it on in a bed even though they were just outside, made this something that wasn’t for me.

I received a free ARC for this book. All thoughts are my own.

Phoenyxx has no memory of anything before the young age of 8 years old. That is also when an older couple takes her in and subjects her to nothing but brutality. When she turns 18 they send her to a "reform School". This is where she meets the Sadistic Six. The Sadistic six AKA “The Six”, are boys from high ranking mafia families. The boys are given the task of "breaking" the new girl. They can do whatever they want besides kill her. Nyx can be brutal when she needs to be. The six have claimed her as theirs stating no other guys are to be around her at all. The Six get special treatment at this "School." Students and Teachers don't dare go against them. The six also have a master keycard that lets them into just about every room on school grounds. Nix is taken out to the woods by Razor and Purge. needless to say Nyx came back w/ dirty and for clothes and a bruise that is very noticeable.
My final thoughts: I loved this dark romance. I have never read anything by this author before, but I'm sure I will be reading more from this author. I do love a great mafia + Why choose + dark romance. Nyx is a pretty complex girl in my opinion. Nyx had a rough childhood, including amnesia at the age of 8 years old. I think her past and the pasts of the members of the Sadistic six is part of what brought these 7 together. And the fact that the Sixs’ Mafia Fathers have given the boys orders to break Nyx. Overall, I would definitely say this book is for a true dark romance reader! CHECK YOUR TRIGGER WARNINGS!!!!!

This book throws you right into the deep end with its incredible FMC, and honestly, prepare yourself. Her backstory isn't just dark; it's a relentless current of pain and trauma that has shaped her in ways you can only begin to imagine. What truly sets her apart isn't just the sheer volume of hardship she's endured in her past, but her almost superhuman capacity to keep going as her life continues to unfold new challenges.

You'll wince, you'll ache for her, and you'll probably shout at the pages, wondering how one person can bear so much. Every page seems to peel back another layer of struggle, yet through it all, her resilience shines. She's not a damsel in distress; she's a survivor, a fighter, and a testament to the indomitable human spirit.

And then there are the guys. At first, their dynamic might seem complicated or even fraught with its own issues, but seeing them gradually, imperfectly, coalesce into the unwavering support system she so desperately needs is incredibly rewarding. It's not a clean, easy fix, but a journey towards understanding, healing, and mutual support. She deserves every bit of the solace and strength they bring her after everything she's faced.

If you're looking for a powerful, emotionally charged read with a heroine who defies all odds and finds her anchors in a world that has only given her storms, this is it. Her endurance is remarkable, and you'll be rooting for her and "the guys" every step of the way.

This is book one of three, and you are left with quite a cliffhanger! A few of the six sadistic men I quickly became invested in, and others remained more like side characters to me. Ghost instantly had a soft spot in my heart. Every student who is placed at The Retreat has a truly horrific background. Curiously, a couple of them are similar in nature. One thing that really bothered me was that whenever a guy from the six would ask about her past, she would mention living years in an isolated, non-con environment, and they would all essentially shrug it off, act like she did not just say that, and carry on with whatever they were doing. However, she gets a cut on her leg, and they are all in a panic to get her immediate medical help. What?!? The inconsistencies of many of their reactions were off-putting, but it was the ones who were steadfast in their concern and care for her that made up for this. There are not really gory scenes until the last 10-15%. Most of this story consists of mental and physical trials and the breaking of willpower.

I was astounded reading this book I was hooked from the start until the very end, the story was written well and with depth and the characters were exhilarating. Phoenyxx was sent to a house to live with the husband and wife, she doesn't remember anything about her life before living with the couple, she didn't remember her name so the couple let her pick her own name from a picture and changed it's spelling a bit. It was on her eighteenth birthday that she was sent to a school an institution for badly behave children and adults, her first inner reacsction. She was walked around the school by a female then she was given instructions to stay away from "The Sadistic Six", six hot cruel dangerous guys they were given instructions by thier father's to break her. The six were trying different tactics but nothing seemed to work until they started to show feelings for her. This story finishes on a cliffhanger.

• I feel like this was such a shocking read. It held me captive and never knowing what was going to be coming next. It has so many twists and turns and different things going on sometimes it gets overwhelming and having to reread to fully understand when you speed read through. I’m so shocked by that ending I truly didn’t see ALL of that coming.

Biggest reason I didn’t LOVE ebook reading this one was the grammatical issues with so many exclamation points that weren’t needed but I feel like this on audio will be fantastic! There was also something’s that were overly repetitive like our MMC therapist saying he’s undercover and with a secret organization and a few other things like such.

Either way I will definitely be reading book 2 to see what more we have in store for our MMC and her sadistic six!

Awful

Do not waste your time on this "book" if you can call it that. Pretty sure all these reviews have to be fake. It feels like it was written by a teenager who watches a lot of weird porn, but has never had sex or love before. Or friendships for that matter. The entire book is written like a summary of events happening with far too many point of views. I don't think of you got punched in the face by a man twice your size, choked, and pushed down the stairs you would be having friendly conversation the next day with the very same people who did that to you. Also this girl has never left the house or made a friend her entire life and suddenly she makes a best friend in 2 seconds? Then the counselor of all people rushes to her aide when she was concussed from her push down the stairs, but instead of taking her for medical care he takes her to his room and undresses her? What? Then she tries to seduce him. What the actual hell? This book is terrible.

If you like super SUPER dark bully romances, this is for you! PLEASE CHECK TRIGGER WARNINGS BEFORE READING!!! (NonCon, Murder, Abuse, SA, Kidnapping, Blood Play, Knife Play, and so much more)

That being said, holy sh!t what a wild ride this book took me on. Phoenyxx has been put through it! So when she gets the attention of the Sadistic Six, things go from bad to worse. The only person she has is her friend Valley. Phoenyxx is such a strong FMC, going through the torture they put her through, and still coming back with her head held high. Romances start happening between her and the 6 men, and you think things will calm down a little. Nope! It still gets worse.

Just know going into this that this is going to be a three book series AND ends on a MAJOR cliffhanger! BUT THAT ENDING? Holy sh!t. I can't wait until September to find out what happens after that brutal scene.

A Bully - Dark romance - RH with Dark Academia and secrets laced with tortured psychos sons of Mafia families !

⚠️ This is a VERY dark story ; check the trigger warnings ⚠️

I am always a bit slow to warm up with all the characters in a RH, but here I got HOOKED. You cannot stop reading even while all these horrors are executed ! While feeling like I can't really trust anyone in this story, I feel for all of these poor souls who got tortured by the very people supposed to cherish and nurture them.
The thrill of this story's secrets and the urge to get revenge for every single one of the characters is making my blood boils under my skin !

That cliffhanger got me SCREAMING >.<

SO. MANY. QUESTIONS. REMAINS.

Gosh, the boys deserve SO much better. I REALLY hope they burn the whole world and their fathers down ASAP in the next book.

This book was WOW!!! Please make sure to read the trigger warnings before reading!

I was hooked on this book from the start, and I couldn’t put it down until I finished. There is a lot that happens throughout this book however once you start reading you will not want to put it down until you finish. This enemies-to-lovers tale is brutal, immersive, and emotionally raw as Phoenyxx fights for survival—and maybe finds unexpected connection amid the cruelty. And that cliff hanger- WOW! Thankfully the 2nd book is out, and I had to run and read that right away as well.

I love reading dark romance and cannot wait to see what else the author comes out with in the future. I love Mafia + why choose+ emeries to lover's romance. Highly recommend trying this book out.

I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This book is a dark romance, so I would recommend to read your triggers before starting on this adventure.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

I love how strong phoenyxx is, there is still a lot of mystery surrounding her at the end of book one. I can't wait for the next books to see how those mysteries turn out. Sometimes I find her to forgiving for example with synn. I love the relationship between Ghost, Trikk and her. And to complete the six there is also Purge, Razor and Frost. There are some interesting relationships that's for sure! But how my heart broke at the end. The plottwist is pure betrayal, I was crying so hard for Phoenyxx

Loved the book and I can't wait for the rest of the series and see how the story unfolds.

Okay. So I was super excited to read this. It has so many of my favorite tropes, and I started reading it, and for about the first half, it was a 3 star, because I felt that it was going very fasr. It was a lot of information pushed in, and it was very overwhelming, but the second half was 5 stars out of 5 stars because it was phenomenal. I love the pacing, I love The drama of the way it rounded up into the cliffhanger. I love the characters even though for a while though I really really hated synn but by the end, oh I cannot even in describe the cliff anger was so good.I cannot wait for the next book! Ghost is my favorite ❤️

WOOOW! This book took me for a RIDE. The FMC has been through way too much in her life, and just continues to have the unthinkable thrown at her time, and time again. But she never backs down, and I love that in a strong FMC. Each MMC is wonderful in their own ways, and I really enjoyed getting to see so much of their individual personalities. The storyline & plot were great, and a lot of it kept me on the edge of my seat, never really knowing what was going to happen next. The cliffhanger ending was one of the wildest I've read to date! My jaw is still on the floor.

This is book 1 of a series, so remember, WILD cliffhanger!

I really enjoyed this book, however it seemed very repetitive it is top 6-8 on a dark scale the six back stories just kept getting worse as far as events go, the bookbis very fast paced with a ton of dialog conversations, but again its repetitive and chaotic there is a LOT going on i had so many emotions reading it and will read the next book when it is available I am honored to have received a ARC for this book and I hope my review gives no hard feelings as I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily i hope the next book gives more on nyx as to who she is i have theory and am excited to see where you take us next.

This book sucked me in immediately and I finished it in a day. The characters are all messed up in their own ways with their own dark upbringings. Each dark past weaves together to bring the sadistic six and Phoenixx the main character of the book together in a game of love, hate and mystery.

It’s dark and there are parts that were hard to read but it follows Phoenixx’s journey from being isolated and abused by an adoptive family to moving to the “retreat” and coming up against the six, building true friendships and learning not everything is as it seems.

I can’t wait to read the next book and find out what happens next.

Sadistic Obsession is book 1 in the Rise Of The Phoenyxx series and my first read by this author. This is Phoenyxx's story and definitely not for the faint of heart. Make sure you read the trigger warnings before you start. It's an intense, gritty, bully, enemies to lovers, why choose journey that introduces us to Phoenyxx, Valley and the Sadistic Six. It's a dark, dark story and a tough one to read, especially Phoenyxx's young life. All of her life actually. Buckle up and hold on tight, this is one heckuva ride! This story ends on a cliffhanger and I'm so ready for book 2.

Quirky Heart PR introduced me to Ms. Badd, and boy oh boy is that really goodd!

I have read some really dark romances and this is near the top!
So, take care with your mental health!

I couldn't put this down!
The intensity.
The grittiness!
The OMG'ness!

Phoenyxx.
My gosh the STRENGTH!!!
Amazing!
I don't think I could have survived like she has!

Ms. Badd has left us on the highest cliff ever!

This pitch black romance has me hoping for even a flicker of light in book two!

Can't wait!

This book is so well written and it literally sucks you in on the first page. I don’t think I’ve ever gasped so much from a single book. It definitely takes dark romance to new heights.

If you’re the type of person who says “the more trigger warnings, the better!”, then THIS is absolutely right up your alley. I could go on and on for days, but I would absolutely recommend this to anyone who loves dark romance. Definitely take all of the TW’s seriously, but wow! It’s absolutely worth the read!

Let me start off by saying, this is an arc book and I was given this book for free per my review feedback.

This book was NOT dark romance, it was worse. It felt like the author was trying way too hard to get the dark romance plot. Continually, the book felt so rushed. There was no build up, and this felt like a first time writer who wants to get their point across in the most unethical way. Moreover, the characters did not have a set characteristic to them. As a result, the entire book missed its mark. 10/10 would never read again.

Mind-blowingly brutal and addictive!!!😍😍😘

Gah! Sexiest, most damaged MC's that have been written. Ever! SADISTIC SIX... Synn, Razor, Purge, Ghost, Trik, Frost. They rule their twisted...prison?... And then there's our FMC, Phoenixx. Warped into an antisocial, confused, deeply disturbed individual by a sinister group. Who knows why? Volatile violations are perpetrated against her by the Sadistic Six who are following orders. Such a deliciously immoral tale...and cruelly leaves you hanging!😭 I insist you read this. You don't want these guys showing up!😁

The book was absolutely brilliant. So gripping, "page turning" (I was reading it on my kindle) It's a shame it finished.

The story wasn't what I was expected. I thought it was gonna be a predictable ending…… but it wasn't.

I couldn't put it down. I have never read a 41 chapter, 333 page book so fast.

When is the next one gonna be available? Because I need it….now!

Side note though…. please, PLEASE read the triggers

(I downloaded this book for free to my kindle)
