Mystic Deceit

Rate this book
Coconut Bay is preparing for the biggest concert event of the year, and rockstar Cameron Steele is set to headline the show. But the celebration quickly turns deadly when Cameron is found murdered just minutes before hitting the stage.

Iona and Kai are quick on the scene and ready to investigate. It looks at first to be an accidental overdose until the evidence points to something much more sinister. As the music festival rages on, Iona and Kai (with her trust sidekick Spark), must navigate the glittering world of fame and secrets to uncover the truth.

Who had it out for the rockstar?

Was it his ex-girlfriend and bandmate, whose bitterness over their breakup may be clouding her judgment? Or what about Cameron's assistant? A bright woman who'd been hiding something from her past. Let's not forget Max Porter, a rival musician with a longstanding feud with Cameron, who’s desperate to claim the spotlight.

With the concert crowd still buzzing and the truth buried deep, Iona and Kai must untangle the lies before the killer hits their final note.

I'm a mystery author with a soft spot for romance and humor, too. I love all things girlie with a dollop of danger, have a strong affinity for the color pink (especially in diamonds and champagne), and, not to brag, but chocolate and I are in a pretty serious relationship.

My books are fun and flirty, and feature smart and sassy sleuths. If you love books with a dash of spice and twist of whodunit, you're going to love my work!

Musical murder

Music festival fun or musical murder? In Coconut Bay why not both. Iona and Kai are working security for a concert when there’s a scream and you can guess what they find. A singer dead, multiple suspects, shaky alibis and some shady characters. The team has their work cut out for them if they want to catch this killer and end the media frenzy it started.
A delightful cozy caper. I enjoy the whimsy of this series and this book is no exception. I especially love Spark who has all the innocence, curiosity and energy of a child wrapped in the body of a star. Iona and Kai make a great team along with Doc, Vi and Knotly’s support. Glad those two got past their past and are moving forward together. A light, enjoyable read.

Mystic Deceit is the 7th book in the Isle of Enchantment series by Stephanie Damore.

This book was such an adventure, I loved it. So great to be back in the Florida Keys with Iona and Kai who have taken on security detail for a very famous band that is playing at the festival.

Violet is a SUPER fan, and it adds so much to the story. When there is a murder, they are all there already and start to investigate.

There were so many suspects and some twists and turns that kept me guessing.

I love this series, and I look forward to the next book where Ion and Kai go on a "quiet" get away.

I received an ARC copy from the author and though I wasn’t required to post a review I wanted to offer my voluntary, honest impression of the book after reading it.

This is the seventh book in the series and the people in Cocoanut Key are excited to have a rock star band come and put on a performance! However, before the show starts the lead singer is found murdered and Iona and Kai need to interview the band members and those associated with the band to flush out the killer!

Those who have read the previous books in this series will especially enjoy this one as clues are found and suspects questioned. Some shady characters are spotted as well and our intrepid investigators will need to be through if the killer is to be apprehended!

If you enjoy a series with paranormal individuals living among normal humans you’ll love this series!
Add Iona’s sidekick Spark and you get levity and humor thrown into the mix as suspects are considered before zeroing into the one who committed the act!

I enjoyed this book and this series and highly recommend it as one I think you’ll enjoy! Each story has been unique and provides you time to form your own opinion as to the innocence or guilt of the individual before the perpetrator is narrowed down.

It’s a great escape from the troubles in the world to settle back and lose yourself in an interesting well written story that will keep your interest throughout the book!

A popular band is about to do a concert. Kai is doing security behind the scenes. Iona has barrier guard with Spark. Violet is stuck on the outside of the fence, but in stopping a gate hopper, Iona lets her in. A suspicious pink haired person in black hovers near the bands busses. When Iona goes to investigate, the person vanishes into the crowds. However she gets first hand visual of arguments between manager and band members. Not gaining any info about what the arguments were about, she returns back to the gate. It is about go time for the concert to begin when a shriek of a scream cuts thru the noise of the crowd. Running to the voice, they find Mia, a band member screaming at the open door of the head of the band's beloved Cameron. It is obvious Cameron is dead. There are drugs and paraphernalia laying around. They call Doc in and Violet puts her forensic hat on. It seems Cameron is a recovered addict, a few years now. Did he have a relapse? Was it murder and why? Maybe an up and coming new band trying to eliminate competition? A true gripping page turner. Stephanie Damore never fails to entertain.

One of Violet's favorite bands has come to town to do a concert and Kai and Iona are working security for the concert. The audience is getting impatient for the start of the concert when there's a scream and Kai, Iona and Spark rush to see what happened. It seems the band's lead singer, Cameron, is dead with drug paraphernalia surrounding him. It seems he's a recovering drug addict. Did he slip and overdose? Violet goes backstage in her forensic mode. It seems to be murder and Kai and Iona are quick to investigate. I love the snarky Spark! It turns out there are plenty of suspects from a spurned ex-girlfriend band member to Cameron's , assistant or Max Porter, a rival musician who is ready to step into Cameron's place for the limelight . This is a fun, fast paced mystery that keeps you guessing right to the end. I highly recommend this 7th book in the series, in fact, I highly recommend the entire series! I received an ARC of this book but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Coconut Bay is preparing for a music festival and Detective Iona Vale along with her friend and co-worker Violet are excited to see Violet’s favorite band member, Cameron Steele. When they see Steele arguing with his manager, Stiffy they soon see a woman and band member who help start the band seemingly diffuse the situation. Later Iona and Violet hear Steele in an argument with a band member who angrily mutters, “you’re going to regret this, Steele.” While waiting for the band to start, Iona and Violet hear a woman’s scream and when they rush to the bus only to find Cameron Steele dead seemingly of a drug overdose. Soon, Iona and her partner Kai Marinos find otherwise while investigating the death. After interviewing the band members, they realize that anyone of the band members could be the killer. I love this magical series with a town filled with vampires, witches, selkies and various paranormal folk and two very determined detectives. This is my honest and voluntary review of an advanced reader copy of this book.

Was it murder or an accidental overdose?

Once again, we’re back in Coconut Bay with Iona, Kai and the rest of the PADA force, and Aunt Phee of course. When the lead singer of a popular band dies before the performance, at least Iona and Kai are already on scene and begin the investigation. I really enjoy mysteries, and the Isle of Enchantment Mystery Series is no exception to that. Plus, added bonus, we have supernatural beings, including shifters, demi-gods, witches and more. What I really love about these stories is watching the evolving relationships between the characters and I am so glad Iona and Kai are a couple again!

I received an advanced reader’s copy and am voluntarily leaving this review.

As Coconut Bay prepares for a huge concert, featuring the band Ember Lights and their rockstar frontman, Cameron Steele, PADA agent Iona Vale and her partner, Kai Marino's, are in place to deal with any problems.
Who knew the problem would be the untimely death of Cameron Steele?
The verdict is murder and Cameron has upset more than his fair share of people, so suspects are plenty, and Iona and Kai (along with Iona’s trusty celestial sidekick, Spark) are up to their eyeballs in motives.
This is the seventh book in the Isle of Enchantment cozy mystery series and I loved every book! Each one kept me riveted from beginning to end.
I received this book as an Advanced Reader Copy and I am happy to leave this voluntary review.

Mystic Deceit is another intriguing, twisted, cozy mystery. Iona, Kai and Spark are working crowd control/security at the rock concert Violet is attending so they are on the scene when the murder is discovered. Iona and Kai discover many possible suspects in this well plotted, twisty mystery. It seems several people may be happy Cameron is no longer around. I am always fascinated by the murder solving processes. I have learned not to start one of these books at bedtime - unless I want to read until the sun comes up! I love these recurring characters and their magical world in the Florida Keys. I am looking forward to the next book and Iona and Kai's "quiet" vacation!

Another great adventure to the Florida Keys where Iona and Kai are working security for a music festival. Violet is a big fan so the team is right on scene when a death occurs. Spark brings her wonderful humor to this story. Such a fun character. There are plenty of suspects as the victim was not a likable person. Plenty of misdirection as well and it all ends with some really surprising and wonderful events. Always a fun time reading about this group. Looking forward to their "quiet" vacation in the next story.

When the singer of the headliner band is found dead Iona and Kai are digging deep to figure out what happened. This is a really fun paranormal cozy mystery series (all books can be read stand-alone). The characters are just amazing, full of quirky personality. And the storyline will keep you guessing as you are working along Iona, Kai and Spark. You will laugh out loud while reading this, so much fun.

A big band comes to town and it's a madhouse of crazyness and emotions. Iona and Kai are helping with security, but the band isn't starting and the crowd is getting impatient. A scream, and suddenly they have a case that the press is all over. One of the band is dead, the show is cancelled, and they have to hurry up and figure out who did it while the press and the world is watching. I loved Spark and her little side trips, always makes me smile all the things she gets into.

Rinse and repeat

This book fell very flat, maybe its the seven book itch or something. Its like Damore has a checklist for the plotlines of these books and by now I know how it goes...murder, breakfast from Aunt Phee, food truck lunch, Knottly diligently working too hard, Violet in her Halloween clothes, Spark being silly, rooftop charge up, solve case, romantic moment, the end. Needs some variety or freshness. Didn't hate it but felt like I've read it before.

I do really enjoy each and every book in this series.

When the front man of a rock band is found dead, Iona and Kai must investigate. Firstly, they had to determine whether it was a drug overdose, or something more sinister. Then they had a slew of suspects, as many people had reason to want him dead. Finding the right one was going to take some doing.

Such fun characters and world. Iona and Kai are helping with security at a rock festival when the band's lead singer/guitarist is killed. As they look into it, it seems like the number of people who had motives grows. The mystery is well plotted and I've come to love these characters. You do not have to read these books in order as they are all stand alone mysteries.

Mystery Concert
Iona, Kai and Spark are covering security for a much anticipated concert. The worst happens and they now have to investigate a death. Spark is her snarky, fun self while Kai and Iona work together to solve the mystery. I love the personal interactions and fun location. I received my copy as a gift and burned right through it in one sitting!

Big concert, big murder! Iona and Kai are pulled in so many different directions because everyone had a motive. With help from their team, and of course, Spark, they are able to dig through the clues and narrow things down. Really great mystery that kept me glued to the book until it reached conclusion.

I really like the subject matter it is very interesting to me. Which helps when I'm reading the book because I like the entire book. Enough culprits fit the bill but I knew who the problem was pretty soon. Great bad guy!!

Book 7 of the series. In this book a rock star is murdered. There are so many suspects who had a reason to get him out of the way. Iona and Kai have to sift through the evidence and suspects to find the real killer. This book kept me guessing for most of the book. Quick entertaining read.
