Alistar and Axel

Spice: 🌶️

Trope: wolves, royalty, he falls first, mates, romance fantasy

Tension: 3/5 Axel is angsty about everything and really dramatic. I had to keep reminding myself that he’s 19 and immature. Alistar is a little older but just as angsty bc he’s an omega and his king father has created laws that treat omegas like second class citizens so he hides the fact that he’s an omega.

Pro: dual pov, good debut for this young indie author

Heres the tea: Alistar is in charge of all the knights and is crippled by a wound. After time of moping he decides to leave the town, drama happens and he sees his true mate.

In this society there is no gay or straight, it’s alpha, beta, or omega. Bc of his father’s laws Omegas are essentially treated like sex slaves so Alistar doesn’t want anyone to know he’s an omega.

So he sees his true mate it’s a man that is essentially described as a twink, but he runs an illegal clinic and heals Alistar.

More drama happens and A and A start working together bc an illness has taken over their kingdom, essentially it’s depression.

A and A have to work together to not only fight the illness, but also the kings laws and their own dynamics of a relationship.

The Omega Prince is the very first M/M romance I’ve read. I’ve read romance books either M/M and in it, but usually there’s a female involved too.

Anyways.

This is a ssllooww burn, that has a tone of drama and trust. In a world where Omega’s are deemed as 2nd class citizens the Prince himself is hiding that he is an omega. His mate, who is hiding who is, and so much more.

The king rules with an iron fist, and doesn’t like anyone to disagree with him (like a toddler). Because of this the kingdom suffers and the people suffer more.

The reason why I’m giving it 3.5 stars:
The miscommunication is strong in this book, granted the main characters are young (21 & 23 ish). But, one of them has been groomed to be a prince and captain of an army.
There are still some unanswered questions that I have. Hopefully there is a book 2, that will answer them.

It was a good book that gave omegaverse well.

This is an MM romance with a different spin on on Omega and Alpha relationships.
Both MMCs are young, which means you have some immaturity and miscommunication.
This is a VERY slow burn.
The pacing starts out very slow. There are parts that pick up, but overall its a bit slower.
The "illness" that the prince and his mate are trying to find a cure for is the main plot.
Could have used some additional energy/elements of surprise/twists to make things interesting.
Some parts did feel a bit repetitive, but the emotional connections were definitely present.
Would have liked to see more context regarding werewolves being werewolves (with more descriptive writing).

The Omega Prince is a slow burn MM romance that tugs at the heartstrings. I really liked this take on Omega and Alpha relationships. I’ve never read one where males were Omegas and able to conceive children. I’d love to explore more on that topic.

I really, really, REALLY hope there are more books because I have so many questions about what became of the kingdom and how Axel and Alastor’s relationship grows as they navigate the new world they helped create.

This book is an emotional read I absolutely loved it. The dimension between Alastor and Axel was amazing and it was amazing to see them work through all their problems and overcome everything! The last 100 pages of this book kept me on the edge of my seat reading to find out what was going to happen next. It’s an amazing read and I highly recommend it.
