PACK RULE #9: FATE COMES SECOND FOR A SINGLE DAD I didn’t move to Cooper Valley for love. I’m here to raise my daughter in peace, work at Wolf Ranch, and keep my wolf on a tight leash. Because I don’t have time for distractions. Or complications. And definitely not both in the form of a female.
Joy is my new next-door neighbor—sweet, sexy, and entirely off-limits. She always has a messy bun and a laugh that melts steel. She makes my little girl giggle like I’ve never seen before. She makes me burn with need.
She’s sunshine. I’m thunderclouds.
I tell myself I’m too gruff, too brooding, too busy being a father to want her. But my wolf doesn’t care about rules. He thinks she belongs to him. He knows she smells like fate… and tastes even better.
How can I stay away? In the end, it seems fate will decide for me.

This book had comfort-read written all over it—from the familiar Wolf Ranch setting to the fast-paced, high-heat plot that wastes zero time. Wes is new to town with his adorable daughter Remy and zero interest in dating. Enter Joy, who is not only a literal ray of sunshine but also possibly my favorite heroine of the series. She doesn’t flinch, doesn’t blink, and definitely doesn’t back down when she sees what she wants.
And what she wants is Wes.
Yes, it’s spicy. And I mean spicy. Wes is bossy, filthy, and unapologetically alpha in all the right ways. But underneath that dirty mouth is a protective, possessive softie who falls fast and hard. My only wish? I wanted Joy to be just as vocal during those smutty scenes—girl, give us a little dirty talk back!
Is it formulaic? Sure. But that’s the point. This is shifter romance comfort food: low on angst, high on heat, and delivered with enough emotional payoff and character banter to keep me hooked. Nine books in, and I’m still down bad for Wolf Ranch.
Final verdict: scorching, swoony, and exactly what I was craving. Give me ten more.
Another wolf shifter romance I enjoyed! These authors sure know how to write sexy wolf shifters! Wes and Joy have instant attraction and hot chemistry! I mean, Wes' wolf knew right away that Joy was his. Ah, I loved it! And I also enjoyed Remy, Wes' daughter. She was a cutie, and Joy was amazing with her.
I absolutely love the Wolf Ranch series and Ravenous is no exception!! I loved Wes and his little girl Remy from page one even though he was a grump it was easy to see just how much he cared for the people he loved. And Joy was a literal ray of sunshine who might struggle just a smidge with people pleasing but was quickly learning that sometime it’s okay if you’re a little selfish, even if that means not everyone is happy. And together oh my word the romance was sizzling off the page! Their banter was top notch hilarious, the spice was perfect, the romance was swoon worthy, and the little family they created was so so cute!! So, if you’re looking for a human/shifter, grumpy/sunshine, fated mates, single dad romance filled with found family, an adorable four year old who is not afraid to speak her mind, plenty of spice, a dash of drama and spoonful of realizing that maybe it’s okay to be selfish every once in a while followed by a happily ever after than Ravenous is a must for your TBR!
This was fast paced but unfortunately more spice than plot. I would have liked this to be fleshed out a little more. There was no build up between the MC's they just hopped straight into bed with eachother.
This did have potential and readers who love their plot with the spice will love it.
ARC REVIEW This was such a cute and short read! I absolutely loved Wes and joy!! They were so adorable and I love how Wes literally RAN to save Joy during the storm! Their relationship was so cute and I just love how flows and care free Joy was about everything! She had such an adorable relationship with his daughter Remmy and I just love how Remmy immediately wanted to call her mommy! The little moments between them all were so adorable and I just can’t get enough of them! The little cameos from past books were so great and I loved seeing some of my fav characters. This book was just so cute and I literally ate it up in one sitting!! I cannot wait to see more from this series!!
Ravenous is the 9th book in the Wolf Ranch series. Wes is the silent grumpy one and his new neighbor Joy lives up to her name. It's a very sweet fated mates story. Fast paced, well-written with in depth characters and the sweetest little girl. A very enjoyable read
Book Name/Series: Ravenous (Wolf Ranch #9) Author: Renee Rose and Vanessa Vale Standalone?: Can be read as a standalone, but includes characters from other books.
3 Stars
My Opinion: This was an okay book for the most part and it was an easy read, but the whole thing did feel quite rushed in my opinion. I did like both the main characters though, and I thought Wes’s daughter Remy was adorable.
Hero: 4/5. Wes has a 4-year-old daughter (Remy) that was the result of a one-night stand, but the mother left shortly after she was born, so he has been raising her on his own. He seemed like a great dad, and I loved how protective he was of both Remy and Joy. Heroine: 4/5. Joy was a pottery artist. She was quite a positive and happy person, but she did struggle sometimes with being vulnerable. I liked how understanding and caring she was, and she had some really sweet moments with Remy.
POV: 1st person POV (Wes and Joy).
Push/Pull:
Sadness: 0/5.
Explicit Sex and Spice Level: Yes. 3/5.
OW (Other Woman)/OM (Other Man) Drama: Yes.
Separation:
Cheating: No.
Closure/Ending: HEA. There’s no epilogue which was a bit disappointing.
I was really looking forward to this one, but sadly it left me disappointed and feeling very cringey.
This felt like a quick and short read, it was very fast paced and I mean only a few chapters in and Wes was mounting like the wolf he is after a tree fell through her roof. There was more smut than plot, but sadly the smut was not great, It was always rushed, their dirty talk was not enticing and I sort of wish their was something to redeem this book. There wasn't much wolf shifter/ pack related story line- a little bit when it came to Remy's mother making an appearance, and not much cowboy business at all than he works on a ranch knowledge implied.

Okay, so he moves in next door they're mates. Then they get the forced proximity. Then they get the stupid head.Deciding that stealing her daughter's inheritance from her grandfather. It's a fantastic idea. Then you have, at the very end, the darndest things that kids say pop out of the four-year-old's mouth. They're sitting in the truck they're at Grandma's house, a little girl, says, grandma says it's time to come in. But first, can you make me a little brother, so-and-so from preschool said, that's how she got a little brother, was her parents kissed too much. Oh yeah, the darndest things that kids say
It is another great addition to the Wolf Ranch Series, and yet, it is a fresh new story with a few people from previous stories. What happens when a human female and male wolf shifter meet by happenstance, and he knows almost immediately she is his mate? But he has his four-year-old daughter, Remy, to be his top priority.
Weston ‘Wes’ Sparks met Soraya during one of the full moon runs, and their one-night stand was just that. He didn’t even know she was pregnant until he returned to visit their pack from the rodeo circuit, and she was six months along. After the birth of their daughter, Remmington ‘Remy’, she abandoned them when Remy was three weeks old. Wes took his daughter with him as he continued on the rodeo circuit as a bull rider. When he saved enough money to settle down, his friend, Boyd Wolf, encouraged him to come to Wolf Ranch, become the ranch foreman, and become part of their pack—and he did.
Joy Wallace bought the home she lives in, and uses the detached garage for her pottery studio. Her new neighbors have recently moved in, and the young daughter, Remy, comes over to visit, and they share a popsicle. What a shock and scare for Wes to come out of the shower, and Remy isn’t in the house. Running outside and finding her next door is a crazy way to meet the neighbor when he is wearing a skimpy towel.
The story has the good, the bad, and the ugly of individuals. Joy is such a bubbly individual, living up to her name. She had to grow up fast because when her parents divorced, her mother fell into severe depression. Even now, she still has to help her mother out from time to time. Wes and Remy, wolf-shifters, are now neighbors with Joy, who is human. Remy is enchanted with Joy, even comparing her to a princess. Wes, who has a grumbly disposition, is caught between protecting his daughter and his wolf’s attraction to his mate. How will Joy handle the news that Wes and many of the men at Wolf Ranch are, in fact, wolf shifters?
“I didn’t know why Wes had thought I’d freak out. I couldn’t be more thrilled. It was like finding out magic was real.”
When Soraya threatens to take custody of Remy, Wes will have the support of Rob Wolf and Johnny, his enforcer. Joy is willing to walk away from Wes, to help him protect Remy—but will Wes and Remy allow that?
The story was another great addition to the series, seeing those from previous stories, and meeting more characters. Sometimes, a wolf-shifter can have his mate and family, too. I loved the chemistry between Joy and Wes, and how Remy loves Joy and wants her as her mommy.
Finally! I was so ready for Wes’s book to come out and now that it’s here and I’ve finished it in less than a day, I can’t help but wish there was more. I liked the story, but I felt like something was missing from it. I don’t know if it’s because I haven’t been used to the shorter books in a bit as the last handful of books have been longer or because the story just seemed quick. It was just beginning, plot, then the end. It wasn’t complicated or frustrating and I guess I may have wanted more fight? Hesitation from Joy? More of a conflict? I don’t know but regardless, this book was a breath of fresh air compared to the last one. I flew through this book. The chemistry and heat was off the charts and I was blown away by how quickly Wes can turn off dad mode and then be this sensual, intense, insatiable lover and partner to Joy. It was unbelievable. I really felt like this book was more about Wes and Joy than Wes, Joy and Remy. It was definitely more of a lovers book than being the dad who doesn’t have time for a personal life or a dad who fights attraction to women because he doesn’t want to have their kid get attached and it doesn’t work out. There was some hesitation on his part, but ultimately his lust, need and connection he felt towards Joy overpowered it. He didn’t get in his head about her, just knew she felt right with him and he didn’t ignore those instincts and gave into them. Honestly, books would be so much better in the romance category if you had this but then you would probably get a bunch of unfulfilled short love stories that didn’t seem finished or resolved. This book kind of felt like this, and that, paired with a little bit more drama and the thoughts I have after reading this is what ultimately got me to give this a 4. I don’t know who’s left in Wolf Ranch, but something tells me there are going to be more books from this series, maybe not a lot but who knows? I can’t wait to find out.

Thank you so much for the ARC!! Always appreciated!
Shifter romance era for me? Absolutely—and I’m living in it unapologetically. This book is everything I want in a fated mates story: emotional, steamy, and surprisingly tender. This isn’t a plot-heavy read packed with high-stakes action. Instead, it’s a slower, character-driven romance that leans hard into emotional growth, connection, and the kind of intimate tension that builds page by page.
At its core, Ravenous is about the magnetic pull between a gruff, emotionally closed-off single dad and the bright, nurturing woman who moves in next door. He’s focused on keeping his daughter safe, his inner wolf under control, and his feelings locked down. But Joy challenges all of that with her warmth, her ease, and the way she effortlessly connects with his daughter. Their chemistry is instant, but what really stands out is the emotional vulnerability that begins to grow between them. He’s a man trying to hold himself together while slowly realizing that maybe he doesn’t have to do it alone.
Joy is pure sunshine—a heroine with heart, patience, and quiet strength. She doesn’t push him to open up, but rather creates a space where he feels safe enough to. Watching her form a bond not just with him but with his daughter was one of the most rewarding parts of the book. Now, I am usually not one for the insta love books, however the authors do a stellar job with our FMC and MMC. Their relationship unfolds in a way that feels real; it is about two people learning to trust each other and believe that they deserve to be loved.
What really makes this book work is the balance between all of the different elements. You have the paranormal elements that add spice and tension to the narrative, but they never overshadow the emotional development between our FMC and MMC. It's about healing, connection, and letting someone see all the parts of you, even the ones you try to hide.
If you're in the mood for a shifter romance that's all about rich character development, emotional closeness, and the sort of romantic tension that feels both inevitable and well-deserved, Ravenous is a good choice.
I enjoy paranormal romance books, and this story by these two talented authors made it easy to get lost in the magic that was Wes and Joy’s story. The characters were warm and welcoming, well, most of them. They were so well-developed and realistic despite their paranormal abilities. It was easy to immerse myself in their journey, which was told with depth and clarity. You could feel Wes’ fear regarding his daughter's welfare. Joy and Wes exchanged so many emotions, but when they came together, an epic fusion took my breath away. Despite being grumpy, bossy, and possessive, I liked Wes. Being a single father to a precocious four-year-old daughter didn't hurt his appeal, especially to Joy, who adored Remmy. Joy was a ray of sunshine even when her world was collapsing around her, literally. She took the difficult times like a trouper.
Wes, a wolf shift, needed a more stable environment than the rodeo circuit for himself and his young daughter, Remy. Wes was now Wolf Ranch's foreman and bought a house in town. He never expected to find his mate in his new neighbor, Joy. Wes would not let anyone or anything step in his way from claiming his mate, including a conniving one-night stand who gifted him with Remy, his daughter. Joy, being a non-shifter, was not a cause for concern. Joy’s reaction to Wes’s wolf was a pleasant surprise. Joy initially reacted to Wes’s wolf with fear, but soon she was in awe.
This was a short but entertaining read. It had a solid storyline and likable characters who stole my heart. There was angst, tension, and high emotions. Well worth a read. The star of this story for me was Remy, who was adorable, intelligent, and lovable.
The ninth book in the Wolf Ranch series from Renee Rose and Vanessa Vale for a grumpy/sunshine romance as latest Cooper Valley resident and single dad Wes meets his mate in potter Joy who conveniently lives next door. A mate was the last thing he was looking for; his world revolved around his cute four-year-old daughter Remy but sometimes there’s just no fighting fate.
When you have a tried and tested formula then why mess with it and there is no doubting that this series works. They are quick and easy reads with heartfelt but spicy storylines with engaging characters and alpha heroes who become cinnamon rolls when it comes to their women except where it matters and then they are 100% dominant with a heavy sprinkling of kinky. Wes was no different. After having his daughter’s mum abandon her shortly after her birth every he had done was for Remy, even moving to the valley to give her a stable life now she was reaching to school age. He’d tried to fight his need for Joy but when a storm hit and put her in danger, his first instinct was to run to her. Sometimes I do wish the heroine acted a little feistier. With no cheating and some drama with the reappearance of Remy’s birth mother Ravenous was a great addition to what has been a fantastic series. If you’re a fan of spicy, cowboy/shifter romance, you can’t go wrong with the Wolf Ranch series.
When Joy receives a surprise visit from a bubbly four-year-old neighbor, she offers Remy a popsicle and they become fast friends. But there’s a curveball when Remy’s dad comes to take her home and he’s gorgeous. Like eyes on stalks gorgeous, which is bad enough, but he’s also wearing nothing but a towel. Wes knows Joy is his fated mate, but can he get this human to fall for him and his daughter? They’re a package deal, after all. Even if she fell in love, would she really stick around once she learns his secret? Sure, she’s his fated mate, but Wes can’t take any chances, especially with Remy’s heart.
Joy is crazy about the broody dad next door, and she absolutely adores Remy, but she tells herself this is ridiculous since she’s just met them. But she is drawn to this man in a way she’s never been to anyone before and it’s not long before they give in. This is steamy and sweet shifter goodness in its purest form, and I never get enough of this world.
Ravenous is a delightful grumpy/sunshine romance! The grump here is shifter Wes, who has settled at Wolf Ranch to get off the rodeo circuit and start building a stable life for his little girl Remy. The sunshine is the aptly named Joy, his human neighbor. Wes is drawn to Joy, but he’s nervous about bringing any woman into his life and creating instability for Remy, especially since he’s been her whole world when her deadbeat mom left them soon after her birth. But there’s a problem with that goal when Joy turns out to be his fated mate.
At this stage, Rose and Vale know exactly how to craft a wonderful romance in this shifter world they’ve created. I loved that the problem wasn’t between Wes and Joy—they connect almost instantly—but between Wes’s goals for Remy and his concern that Joy might leave him (as a human, she’s not obligated by fated-mate ties like a shifter is). This is another in the series of human/shifter couples Rose and Vale have set up, and at this late stage in the series, there are lots of folks to help advise Joy on her situation.
This book goes down like a nice cream sherry, smooth and rich and delightful. Rose and Vale say this is the last book in this Wolf Ranch series, and I’m genuinely disappointed by that. I’ve loved reading the wonderful shifter romances they’ve created, and I’ll miss Wolf Ranch!
📚📚📚 This one i absolutely ate up in one sitting!! Wes and Joy instantly stole my heart with how they were together and Remy omg the cutest!! Joy is neighbors with Wes and Remy and after just one encounter with Wes she was hooked. But I was too with that grumpy broody exterior and the sweet mush for his daughter. Some moments had me holding my breath for this little family but luckily by the end it all was happy. The spicy was so hot and that mouth on Wes was melt worthy! It’s something about the protectiveness in shifters I just get butterflies over every time. Overall this was a great read and i recommend adding it to your TBRs!

✨what’s a book you’ve enjoyed with fated mates? Or how are you doing?
I have read this book and it’s a great read, wonderful characters Wes and Remy and neighbour Joy a simply great read This has been a simply delightful read I loved the relationship between wolf shifter Wes and his four year old Remy who he would die for he is a wonderful father but being single and having the back up of the wolf ranch members is a great help. Then they have a new neighbour Joy and she is a human not a shifter like him and yet he knows that she is his mate and that her beauty that manufactures items that are as beautiful pottery pieces as her. She is not that taken by Wes finding him to be a little moody and yet she cannot help but fall more for his delightful daughter Remy, she is a delight and she enjoys spending every moment she can with her. As their relationship grows slowly and the interaction between Wes and Joy begins to become more secure and she is becoming closer with four old Remy. I guarantee that you will love the way that this story slowly begins to grow and blossom and the way that they are beginning to build a relationship together. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and look forward to reading any future publications; keep up all the wonderful writing.
“I loved him bossy. I loved him grumpy. I loved him heroic and showing up for me in a way no one has before. It seemed crazy and too soon, but I was falling for this guy. Hard.”
Renee Rose & Vanessa Vale were my introduction to the shifter romance trope. And the Wolf Ranch series was my first series. So to say I was excited to read Ravenous would be an understatement. This entire series has been the perfect “F” trifecta for me….Fantastical, Fast, & most of all FUN! The perfect read when I need to break it up & reset my emotion based reading tendencies.
Wes & Joy are the perfect addition to this found family group of ranch hands & owners…and all their fated mates! Wes is the ultimate grump & Joy is just that…joyful! Add in a cutie 4-yr old, a dash of forced proximity and you have the perfect mixture of fate, spice, and sweetness. There’s no doubt these two were meant for each other. And one of my favorite part is how open & comfortable Joy was with ALL the Wolf Ranch secrets. No fear - just trust. No hesitation - just whole hearted acceptance!
This is such a fun world - such a fun trope & I hope it never ends!!
“I was born to love you. I won’t ever let anyone hurt you. I would die to protect you.”
Joy is new to Wolf Ranch. She has a new home and pottery that is selling well. When she meets the little sweetie next, Remy, she is taken by her energy. Remy’s daddy is hot and packed. Wes is a single dad and going to make sure his little girl has a happy loving home. When he meets their new neighbor, Joy, he certainly didn’t expect that the human was his fated mate. But is he willing to let her get too close. Remy has been hurt by her own mother and she was a shifter. Could he trust Joy?
Joy has the biggest heart there is. She cared for her mother when her parents were going through a divorce. She was there to help her through depression and even helping out when she could. A wonderful daughter. She never took the time to cry and break. I can relate. With Wes she finds someone that will let her cry on his shoulder and be loved and cared for. THAT was the best. Wes found not only a mate but someone that loved Remy unconditionally. Remy deserved that. Her own birth mother was a piece of work. I was crying when Joy sacrificed herself. But things worked out. You have to love Rob for making sure his pack was protected.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Wolf Ranch Ravenous by Vanessa Vale and Renee Rose is a quick entertaining shifter story about Wes (MMC) and Joy (MFC) who are brought together by his four-year old Remy. Remy goes over to Joy’s house which is next door to Wes’ house. Wes is not aware of how being around Joy sets him off until he rescues her from a tree limb that goes through the roof of her house during a storm.
Wes is a grumpy shifter who is handsome and buff. He is the ranch foreman at Wolf Ranch. Joy is a ray of sunshine and per Remy she smells good. She has her own business designing pottery. The chemistry between Wes and Joy is 🔥🔥🔥. Although Wes is grumpy, he is bossy too. Joy makes the first move, which surprises Wes, but he does not resist. 😍 There is a twist in the book when Remy’s birth mother Soraya suddenly appears. This only causes chaos and pain.
The previous characters from Wolf Ranch appear in the book and the supporting characters of Remy and Joy’s mom add richness to the story line. I really enjoyed this book.

Tropes…. 🐺Single Dad 🐺Single next door neighbor 🐺Cute four-year old daughter 🐺Grumpy/Sunshine 🐺Small Town 🐺Cowboy Shifters 🐺SPICY!
Renee and Vanessa have once again delivered an exceptional story! From the very beginning, I was captivated. Remy steals the show, proving that wisdom can come from the mouths of babes. This series is an absolute must-read, and I wholeheartedly recommend it.
Wes is a grumpy, single dad and a wolf shifter who rarely smiles and often directs his frustration at those around him. In stark contrast, Joy radiates positivity—she’s always cheerful and sees the silver lining in every situation.
When a storm damages Joy's house, she finds herself being rescued by Wes and taken to his house. The connection between his daughter, Remy, and Joy develops quickly, with both clearly drawn to each other. As Joy takes refuge at Wes's home, undeniable sparks fly between them.
However, tension escalates when Remy’s biological mother suddenly decides she wants her back—after having abandoned her three weeks after birth. This sends Wes and Joy into a tailspin as they grapple with the potential loss of the little family they’ve created.
This story is nothing short of fantastic and stands out as another powerful installment in the Wolf Ranch series. I love every single book and eagerly anticipate each new release. You can always count on a happy ending!
Wes is a single dad who works on Wolf Ranch. He moved to town not too long ago as a way to create somewhat of a normal life for his daughter. At least, more normal than the previous few years of riding with the rodeo circuit. While raising his daughter alone can be hard at times, he has a routine and is content to live without any attachments. That was all before he saw her. Joy. His mate. His free spirited, artsy neighbor who made his blood sing. Not only does she immediately fit into their lives, but his daughter loves her too. How can he possibly be mated to Joy? She’s ….human. If you are looking for a hot MMC who is OTT with touch her and die vibes and is wrapped around his little girl’s finger, this is the story for you. As with each of the stories in this series, they are page turners. I finished this novel in two days. Ravenous is book 9 in the Wolf Ranch series by Renee Rose and Vanessa Vale. The stories could technically be read as standalones. However, they are all interconnected and characters from each story are mentioned throughout. If you read them all in order, you will have a better understanding. Also, the stories are fabulous so you will want to read them all anyway. I recommend this novel for mature audiences only due to sexual content and violence.
Grumpy/sunshine but grumpy is a sexy single dad shifter who is dying to mark his neighbor and has a daughter who's an adorable riot and more in tune with her wolf senses than he is sometimes, and make the sunshine in this equation a potter with a gluttonous and gleeful penchant for doing anything she's told not to just for the punishment grumpy doles out and you get this little gem of a read! It's sassy, it's sexy, it touches you as quick as it makes you crack up at Joy's obvious pleasure in surprising and throwing Wes for a loop, it has a ton of heart and all the sage wisdom of a child who sees everything and speaks the truth in that magical kid way, and it is a literal pleasure to read from start to finish. Not gonna lie I teared up reading this one. For all the fun, the hot, and the over the top shifter dominance, it has this super soft side of a father scared to lose his kid, a daughter who's always had to take care of her mother and pretend everything is okay even when she's falling to pieces, and the sacrifices love has you willing to make, and I loved it tears and all. Just a great shifter romance that is a perfect blend of heat and laughter and heart felt.
Single dad, Wes, is perpetually grumpy except when it comes to his 4 year old daughter Remy. He is new to the Wolf Ranch family after having left the rodeo circuit, and so far he is loving the change for both him and his daughter.
Joy was forced to grow up young in order to take care of her mom. But, she is just as her name says - full of joy, happiness and sunshine.
When Wes finds his daughter sharing a popsicle with his new neighbor, he’s grumpy, as usual. But, it doesn’t take him long to realize who Joy is to him. Now he just needs to let her know so he can reveal his secret. But, nothing is easy with a precocious 4 year old and someone from his past looking to cause trouble.
OHHHH, I adored Wes. He is a great big grumpy cinnamon roll when it comes to Joy and Remy! I loved how Joy instinctively knew she fit with them, even though she isn’t a shifter. And, Remy is awesome! I loved her little wolf instincts!
Ravenous is super hot but mixed with a fantastic dose of kid and family! It was a quick read for me because I couldn’t put it down and loved every page. 4.5 stars!
Wolf Ranch: Ravenous is a steamy, heartwarming shifter romance that hits all the right notes. Former rodeo star Weston Sparks has built his life around raising his adorable four-year-old daughter, Remi, after her mother abandoned them. Their lives take a wild turn when Remi wanders next door and Weston—fresh from the shower and wrapped in nothing but a pink towel—meets his new neighbor, Joy Wallace.
Their awkward first encounter quickly heats up when a storm forces Joy to seek shelter at Wes’s home, leading to a night of passion neither of them expected. But when Wes’s inner wolf recognizes Joy as his fated mate, the stakes grow higher—especially with Remi in the picture. Protective and cautious, Wes worries about letting someone new into their lives, particularly with Remi’s mother suddenly back and demanding custody.
With sizzling chemistry, emotional depth, and plenty of wolfish charm, this story delivers a perfect mix of heart and heat. I gave it 5 stars and loved every second—especially the bonus content! I can’t wait to see who finds love next on Wolf Ranch.
(Grumpy sunshine, single dad, forced proximity, fated mates, werewolf romance, possessive MMC, artist FMC)
Yes. Yes. Yes.
This books was EVERYTHING I wanted. The mix of grumpy (him) sunshine (her) with him being a single dad was SO GOOD. I devoured this book in hours because I couldn't put it down. I was swooning, grinning, blushing and MORE. It gave me all the feels!
I seriously can't get enough of a grumpy single dad. And make him a possessive werewolf. Done. Wes was delicious and his daughter Remy was the cutest thing. Then add in the HUMAN next door neighbor with the sunshine disposition even when life is beating her down...perfection.
I connected quickly and strongly with the characters and the story had me on the edge of my seat. My only complaint!? I wanted MORE. I didn't want this story to end. It was one of those books that I was dreading to come to an end because I loved it SO much.
This was a short, fast paced, engaging read. I liked that Wes and Joy's relationship was pretty much drama free. I thought Remy was the most entertaining part of the book. I loved the way Soraya was handled at the house, but not so much regarding the final outcome.
Joy was somewhat giddy and goofy in her acceptance of Wes. I wish that there had been more interaction with the other woman sharing stories with Joy about being fated mates and living with shifters.
The heat between Wes and Joy took up more pages than the romance, relationship, or the revelation of the existence of shifters. I'm sure many will appreciate it. I would have liked additional information. For example, I thought the broken pottery was going to turn into something. I was a little disappointed when it didn't. I'm not sure why I was expecting a bit more mystery in this book. Overall, this was a lighthearted fast read. Rating: 3.5 stars
Grumpy, possessive, single dad and alpha shifter? YES PLEASE.
Wes is new to Wolf Ranch, trading in his rodeo days to give his daughter aore stable life. When his baby momma, who abandoned their daughter as baby suddenly returns, Wes is determined to keep his daughter safe and shielded. But nothing could have prepared him for their next-door neighbor, Joy. One sniff—and boom—fated mate.
The catch? Joy is human. A bright, sunny force of nature who could easily leave him and his daughter broken if she walks away.
I loved how much heart Wes had—always putting his daughter first, even when faced with love and the supernatural unknown. Joy’s sunshine energy was the perfect match to his grumpy, guarded vibe, and their chemistry? Off. The. Charts.
A swoony, spicy shifter romance that delivers all the heart and heat.
