She ran from the altar straight into the arms of the town’s grumpiest mechanic.
Juliette Calloway wasn’t supposed to be in Juniper Falls. She was supposed to be walking down the aisle, smiling for the cameras, and saying “I do” to a man who checked every perfect box. Except the one that mattered. Instead, she’s stranded in a small-town diner, still wearing her wedding dress, with a broken-down classic Chevy and no plan.
Beckett Lawson doesn’t do damsels in distress. The gruff mechanic prefers engines over emotions and lives by one simple people always leave. But when a runaway bride with big hazel eyes and nowhere to go stumbles into his world, he offers her a place to stay—against his better judgment.
She’s sunshine and spontaneity. He’s stubborn and set in his ways. She’s running from a life she doesn’t want. He’s afraid to want anything at all. But the longer she stays, the harder it is to ignore the sparks flying between them.
When her past catches up, Beck convinces himself she’s better off without him. Letting her go is easy, until he realizes he just let go of the best thing that ever happened to him.
She never wanted a perfect love. She just wanted someone to fight for her.

Susanne Ash writes sweet contemporary romance. When she's not busy putting pen to paper, she loves to cook, knit, and head out exploring with her husband and daughter. She lives close to the beach in beautiful South Carolina. You'll find that her setting is often a fictionalized version of her surroundings and the places she's visiting with her family.
I wanted to love this one.. I loved the idea of a runaway bride and a grumpy mechanic.
The build up was cute and sweet, it felt organic with their dynamics.
They kiss, they share their back stories a little, their relationship grows.. and then her fiance shows up.
I had full confidence, and was ready, for Beck to be full defensive and tell him to leave. That he'd realize that this was what she was running from and would want to get her away from it.
But no, he just walks away and let's her think he doesn't care.
It completely surprised me and was not at all what I expected to happen.
I almost wanted to give 3 stars.. but the redemption with Hazel laying into him and him driving 4 hours to see Juliette helped bring it back up.
I also wasn't super keen on them getting engaged and married after 3 months.. just felt rushed for a woman who just got out of a relationship where she was almost married.
Anyways, we'll see what the next book brings!

I had a free copy of this book, but this is my voluntary and honest opinion. Juliette Callaway didn’t like her life and ran away from her wedding. When her car breaks down in Juniper Falls, mechanic Beckett Lawson agrees to fix it, but must wait for parts so he allows her to stay in his apartment. As they interact, he determines she is the one he wants to spend his life with, but knows she won’t stay. She has different ideas, but when her father comes for her, she goes with him. A heartwarming story about love, choices, and making decisions for the future.
Juliette is a runaway bride when her car breaks down. Beck is the local mechanic and is willing to help her by fixing her car and letting her stay in his apartment. The longer she stays in town, the more she falls for it and for Beck. They're story is very cute. It has the little drama of her fiance that she ran from finding her and then Beck finally realizing that he wants to be with her.
I came across these novella’s called The Alphabet Sweetheart books in kindle unlimited. They are the sweetest short stories. This one was about Juliette running away at the alter and meeting Beck in a small town.
Beck is so sweet! Juliette reminded me of Rachel from Friends, rushing in with her wedding dress on lol. This is one of those books I wish was a bit longer, I absolutely adored this story. I really wanted to know more about Juliette's story. Cant wait to read the next book!
