A trapped viscount. A disgraced debutante. A scandal that could ruin them both.
Lady Kate Drake’s reputation is in tatters after she’s discovered alone on a balcony with a gentleman by one of society’s biggest gossips. Even worse, the gentleman in question flees, leaving her to face the scorn of the ton alone.
The last thing she expects is for her erstwhile suitor to seek her out the next day to propose marriage—or to learn that he’s none other than the elusive Viscount Blackwell, who rumors claim is responsible for his late wife's death.
Lady Kate is backed into a corner. She must either risk a lifetime of being shunned or put her safety—and her heart—on the line by taking a chance on a notorious stranger.
Jayne Rivers adores regency romance books, especially those by Sarah MacLean and Julia Quinn. She writes feel-good stories with heroines she’d love to befriend and heroes she’d love to sweep her off her feet - if she weren't married, of course.
Thanks to Booksprout and the author for a copy of this ebook and this is my freely given opinion.
This is book 3 of the series and while there are some connected characters and relationships to previous stories, this can be read as a stand alone story.
Lady Kate wants love in her life, especially after witnessing the growing love in relationships around her, but has determined that she would marry this season, not wanting to put her family through any more hardships than she has to. But it is difficult for her to get to know the men of society beyond a superficial level, sticking to Society's rules and her mother's oversight. Besides, all the men she has met so far have not captured her attention enough to seek further attention.
However, when she sees someone at the opening ball of the season, who caught her eye before, but is unknown to her, she contrives to distract her mother, and gain an introduction to the stranger, hoping to seek out more information about him. However, an innocent bump leads to a misconstrued situation and quickly spreading gossip about Lady Kate being caught in compromised state with the notorious Viscount Blackwell, a notorious widower and recluse, with a reputation tainted by scandals associated with the deaths of his father and wife.
As often with Society gossip, there is much that is untrue, and unknown. Lady Kate, when she becomes aware of the situation she and the Viscount are in, seeks to make the best of the situation, and hopes that if they can establish an accord, can work towards an agreeable marriage and future together. Viscount Blackwell however, hides many secrets from Kate, and suffers from a great abiding sorrow, guilt, and regrets about his past, including his relationship with his family and first wife. As a consequence, he had never intended to marry again, except his hand was forced. Initially he tries to keep distance between himself and Kate, but she insists on a true marriage and establishing a relationship, and in spite of his wishes otherwise, Blackwell starts to care for Kate and want more for his future, but can he leave his past sorrows behind enough to grasp at a future with Kate?
A generally likeable historical romance with themes of loss, sorrow, regret, second chances, and hidden identity.
This is a new author for me and only read book 1 and 2 in this series. I really liked book 1 a lot and added Book 2 to my favorite books read list for Nov, 2024. So definitely looking forward to this one.
I liked Kate and Theo. It was a good storyline. This might sound strange, but they were a bit boring of a couple but not boring in a bad way. The read was still good. It just wasn't that type of trope. Theo and Nicolas's story was strange but nothing surprises me with the "ton". Overall still a good read.
A delightful historical romance that delivers on all the classic tropes without a lot of unnecessary drama. It's a quick, easy read that will appeal to fans of the genre looking for a feel-good story with an emotionally intelligent lead.
The book centers on a marriage of convenience, which quickly evolves as the main characters navigate a relationship built on mutual respect. The FMC is a standout; she's an incredibly emotionally mature character who handles MMCs emotional trauma with grace and understanding. Her actions, while surprising at the end, are well within the context of the MMC's deep-seated fears of history repeating, stemming from his previous marriage and the tragic death of his first wife.
Character Dynamics and Plot:
A central theme is the communication hurdle between the couple. While this is a common trope, Rivers handles it well by showing the MMC's internal growth. When he finally opens up, his vulnerability is a strength, not a weakness. He articulates his feelings clearly. He demonstrates a profound concern for the women in his life, striving to ensure their happiness, which is sprinkled throughout the book. This makes him a very likable and sympathetic character.
The romance itself is more sweet than spicy, with only two intimate scenes. Their first time eventuates in an immediate pregnancy, which might be a surprise for some readers but fits the story's trajectory and focus on emotional love. The courtship is gentle and builds a believable foundation for their affection.
Final Thoughts:
This book is well-written with a straightforward plot. There are no major external complications—the main conflict is the emotional residue from the MMC's past, including the lingering presence of his late wife's parents. This makes the story feel more personal and focused on the characters' journey together. With minimal triggers and a satisfying resolution, it's a great choice for a cosy afternoon read with a cup of tea.
I hoping there's another book on the horizon about Nicholas!
Note: I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
It was the beginning of Lady Katherine (Kate) Drake’s second season, and she was determined to find a husband, as seasons were expensive and she didn’t find anybody to her liking the first time around. While returning to her carriage after visiting the modiste, Kate was caprivated by a man she saw heading to the tailor across the street. Later when she and her friend Sophie were at a ball, Kate noticed him and contrived a way to meet him. Two notorious gossips found them alone talking on the balcony, which had be occupied by others when they first went out there, and declared Kate compromised. Her mystery man fled and Kate’s reputation was in tatters. Nicholas and Theo were identical twins. Theo, Viscount Blackwell, had lost his wife Elizabeth under distressful circumstances and had declared that he would never wed again. His brother Nicholas was concerned about Theo and wanted him to start enjoying life again and remarry. With this in mind, Nicholas went to a ball pretending to be the Viscount, intending to scope out possible candidates…..but he ended up ruining Kate instead. Fast forward and Theo and Kate are married and struggling to establish a relationship. This story is full of emotional responses, disturbing revelations, and unpleasant memories. You will find, a few steamy scenes, carriage accidents, stress relieving hobbies, spiteful and manipulative in-laws, exceptional servants, and a few surprises. Theo is wracked with guilt over Elizabeth’s death and fearful that something will happen to Kate. Kate is insightful, quite respecful of Elizabeth’s memory and incredibly patient with her new husband. The Normans create conflict while Nicholas evokes chaos while trying to support the brother he loves. This story is well written, includes characters from the previous two books and is rather difficult to put down.

I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. Warning- slight spoilers ahead. After tearing through The Duke's Inconvenient Bride over the course of one night, and The Earl's Bluestocking Bride only days later, I couldn’t wait to see what Jayne Rivers had up her sleeve for Lady Katherine Drake. I had enjoyed her character in the second book, where she was introduced as the sister of the MMC, and hoped this book would do her justice (it’s happened more than I’d like that while I may love a side character in one book, my feelings alter negatively when they themselves become a main character- Colin Bridgerton of the Julia Quinn novels is perhaps my best example of this). Thankfully, Rivers did right by Kate and gave us a character who was (with one brief but notable exception near the climax) intelligent, resilient, hopeful, and willing to fight for what she wanted, which was a loving, happy marriage. Her engagement did not come to her by preferred methods (such as more than a five-minute conversation with a man she found enthralling), but rather as a result of damage control after the gossips of the ton took a completely innocent act and turned it into something ugly and scandalous. But *who* is ultimately the one to come to her rescue? Kate is certain she knows, but as the reader, we are given far more insight and so only wait for the other shoe to inevitably drop (which, of course, it does). As the MMC, Lord Theodore Blackwell is a man forever haunted by the loss of his first wife, which tragically he (and the rest of society) blames himself for (not that this belief makes it true). Upon hearing of Kate’s all-but-certain fall from grace thanks to another man’s cowardice, he decides to come to her aid, while determined to keep her at arm’s length (and thus, safe from him). For a time, he succeeds, until he can no more deny himself the pleasure of her company- and her body (while there are limited spicy scenes in this, I *do* have to make mention of a particular part where things get a little too heated, and Kate quite literally bears the brunt of it. I found it endearing and rather comical- especially her initial reaction to it- and was pleasantly surprised to find such a thing in a historical romance). I appreciated that Theo was able to keep both his first wife Elizabeth and his new wife Kate in his heart, and that there was never any jealousy on the latter’s part. Indeed, Kate had the grace and knowledge to remind Theo that he should cherish his memories of Elizabeth, which showed great maturity and understanding for someone who had never been in love before. If I had to nitpick, I’d say that Theo’s constant worries about hurting Kate in the same way he’d hurt Elizabeth became redundant after a while- the reader didn’t need to be reminded of what was at stake in what seemed like *every* chapter- but ultimately, this was a fast, easy read (over the course of an evening), and I am looking forward to the reading Rivers’ next in the series.

“The Viscount’s Unwanted Bride” is book three in Jayne River’s series Unconventional Brides. The viscount in question is Viscount Blackwell, Theo. Notorious among the ton from rumors that he killed his first wife, he has vowed to never marry again. Theo is put in such a spot where offering marriage to Lady Kate Drake becomes necessary to avoid scandal. As much as Theo tried to maintain distance from Kate, her heart and her personality drew him into her orbit. I liked Kate, she was smart, she was artistically talented, and could design her own dresses. I also liked the fact that she didn’t accept Theo’s proposal immediately but chose to get to know him first, in spite of the looming scandal. It was obvious she had a good heart. Kate’s family was supportive and left decisions to her, which surprised Theo. Theo was nervous and overprotective, he was fearful of making the same mistakes with Kate which would cause melancholy and unhappiness. I did enjoy the story and the overall plot. The characters were well written. I also liked secondary character Nicholas, he loved his brother and wanted what was best for him. I did think Theo’s former in-laws were going to cause a lot more friction in the story than they did. This story fits nicely in the historical romance genre.
I received a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review, my thoughts and opinions are entirely my own.
Regardless of what her family says, Kate has put pressure on herself to find a husband so she’s no longer a financial burden to her brother. And I like her for it – for her level-headedness, responsibility, and the care she has for her family. Unfortunately her first outing leads to a sticky situation.
Theo is carrying a lot on his shoulders and struggling with his grief & guilt & feelings of responsibility after his wife’s death. It’s lead him to lead a quiet life, out of the public eye, alone mostly except for his twin. Which I think is my favorite thing about Theo, how deeply he loves. His family, his brother, his wife … and he’d do just about anything for them.
While there’s some angst as Theo works to let go of the past and the fear that he’s been left with, it isn’t as angsty as it could have been. No outside interference from other parties, just them dealing with his loss & regret, and embracing a second chance at love.
The Viscount’s Unwanted Bride is a fast read about enjoyable characters with believable hangups & issues. While it may have been predictable, especially their third act issues, I enjoyed the simplicity of the story and the slow burn as they got to know each other better and fell in love.
(Part of a series but can be read as a stand alone.)

The Viscount's Unwanted Bride by Jayne Rivers – 5 Star ReviewThank you to the publisher and BookSirens for providing a free copy of "The Viscount's Unwanted Bride" by Jayne Rivers for review.Jayne Rivers’ "The Viscount's Unwanted Bride" is a superbly crafted romance that captivates from the very first page. As the second installment in the series, it effortlessly builds on the world and relationships introduced previously, offering both fresh intrigue and deeper emotional resonance. The heroine’s resilience and grace shine through every challenge she faces, drawing the reader into her journey and emotional growth. The Viscount is portrayed with remarkable complexity—both noble and vulnerable—making the dynamic between the two utterly compelling. Their chemistry leaps off the page, balancing witty repartee with genuine tenderness and longing.Rivers’ descriptions set the historical scene beautifully, transporting readers into ballrooms and drawing-rooms filled with period detail and subtle drama. The supporting cast adds richness, while clever plot twists keep the story engaging without relying too heavily on familiar tropes. The pacing is flawless, every chapter leaving the reader eager for more. This novel is a triumph of character-driven storytelling—a heartfelt romance that lingers long after the last page. Perfect for readers who savor immersive historical settings and authentic emotional arcs, "The Viscount's Unwanted Bride" is a five-star delight.
This story had an original plot while it also had the common theme of a marriage of convenience to prevent ruin and scandal. You have a hero who never wanted to remarry after loss, scandal and ridicule, and a heroine that wanted to marry this season to alleviate the burden from her family. However, she secretly wanted to find a love like her brother so she thought she had ruined her choices with the scandal surrounding her. There were several twists that prevented a quick marriage, and we even got a courtship of sorts. I enjoyed the characters. There were no villains, just messy ton gossips and a misguided mother. I had mixed emotions about Theo’s parents’ early decisions and his mother and her future actions, especially. The story behind the brothers was bizarre and a bit disturbing as a mother (no spoilers). There was witty banter and fun interactions with family and friends. The connection between Theo and Kate was instant but also a relationship that you could see building as they spent more time together. It took a bit long for all the secrets to be revealed, but luckily it didn’t prevent the HEA that they both deserved. I loved this book, but there were frustrating parts that became annoying at times which if why I gave 4.5 stars instead of 5.

Lady Drake had resolved to put aside her qualms, be grateful, and accept a marriage proposal before it was too late. What she never expected was for things to go completely wrong. With doubts and remorse about what she understood to be her own doing, there was only one possible solution to her situation, but would it cost her to sacrifice much more? Truly sad was everything that had happened to the Viscount, and even more so how he found himself stuck with feelings of guilt. I liked that Lady Drake was analyzing their situation, using common sense and showing empathy. There was a lot of emotion involved on both sides, and I found it interesting how Kate supported Theo despite her doubts. Of course, Nicholas caught my attention. I expected something else from his character, and I found it very enjoyable that despite his flaws, his intervention turned out to be positive. An interesting story that entertained me greatly, with a strong heroine and a tormented hero full of strong emotions and anguish. I liked that the story moved along well, with romance and passion, and there was also some suspense with interesting descriptions and narration that made me feel close to the protagonists.
This was an all night read and I can't believe I haven't read anything from this author before because I just simply couldn't stop reading this book once I started it..
Kate and Theo are thrown together because of his twin brother meddling.. and ruining her reputation..
Theo has been through so much from losing his father to losing his wife and to having people blame him for the loss of his wife.. to him completely blaming himself for the loss of his wife.. and he refuses to marry again because he can't lose another person he loves like that again..
Kate is determined to wed this season because she doesn't want to be a burden to her guardian despite him saying that she's not, and once she spies a handsome gentleman outside a tailor she's determined no one else will do but him, however she doesn't realize how much pain he is under.
Once they marry, despite trying to fight how they feel for each other, passion grows and love ignites.. and she shows him that the death of his wife wasn't his fault and it's okay to move on.. she brings laughter, and joy back into his life..
This story is filled with tears, happiness and a mettling twin brother..
I can't wait to read the other books from this author..
This book is a five stakes rating from me. I enjoyed all the characters. And its true even for today with women. You can just stand there alone talking with a man and bam all the gossip is going to come about. I felt bad for Lady Kate she seemed like she really didn’t want to be married but didnt want her brother and sister in law to be burden with her. But a chance encounter led to something wonderful.
Little did she know there was so much more to that meeting on the balcony. When Lady Kate's friend Sophie helps her plan the meeting she got way more then she bargained for with the town's gossip people. What starts as a mere headache for Theo because of his brother's actions turns into something special.
When Theo thought he couldn’t love another persosn after all the gossip surrounding him and his past wife. And not to mention his family's secret. He closed himself off believing he truly didn’t want anyone. He didnt want to go through any pain again. I love his brother Nicholas and I wish we could get a book about him finding someone. Even though it would be hard to do. But if not for him showing up to the party we wouldnt have had this wonderful entanglement. Is a way to put it. Please check out this book if you are llooking for a quick and wonderful read.
Lady Katherine ‘Kate’ Drake is determined to marry this season. She feels that she owes it to her family after not marrying last season. Her family doesn’t want her to marry just to marry.
Viscount Theodore ‘Theo’ Blackwell has no plans to marry again. He feels like he failed his first wife and doesn’t want to fail another wife. Nicholas, his brother feels that a wife is exactly what Theo needs.
Lady Kate and a mysterious man are caught talking while out on the balcony. He promptly leaves her to deal with the scandal by herself. Theo decides that he will make everything right by offering to marry Kate. Will Kate and Theo realize that they are truly meant for each other no matter the circumstances in which they were married?
I absolutely enjoyed this book!! It was so much fun, very entertaining and down right delightful!! I liked how Kate helped Theo move on from his past so that they could actually have a future together. I thought the storyline was awesome and loved how it played out. The secondary characters were really great and truly added to the story. I highly recommend this book!!
This author's specialty is classic historical romance in the tradition of authors such as Julia Quinn. Her past books have been sweet, low angst, relatable, and with enough spice to give all the feels I look for in this genre. Unfortunately, this one didn't meet the mark for me. Theo and Kate's story had great potential. Theo was a widower with a tragic past. Kate was a debutant but had grit. I love that this author is willing to challenge stereotypes romance tropes by having her heroes be vulnerable, and the heroines be strong independent women. However, in this story there seemed to be too much description of environments and events that failed to give the characters story the emotional depth I look for. Also, the "complicating factors" in the story made no sense to me. It felt like perhaps there was an effort to add some angst or plot depth, but instead it was dissonant and therefore distracting rather than adding to the story. I know this author has talent and I hope in her next story she builds the story through her characters & their relationship interactions rather than outside influences.
Lady Kate Drake is determined to find a husband before the end of this season. When she is caught alone on the terrace with the notorious Viscount Blackwell, she just might get her wish. Only it wasn’t the viscount on the terrace; it was his twin brother. Theo doesn’t want to remarry because he feels he was a failure as husband to his first wife, but when Nicholas admits to Theo what he has done, Theo feels the only way to save Kate’s and his family’s reputation is to offer for Kate. Their life together is begun with misunderstandings and past hurts. Kate wants to make the best of their marriage, while Theo wants to maintain a distance between them to avoid a repeat of his past. Theirs is a slow-burn romance and the road is rocky, especially the bump when it is revealed that Nicholas was the man on the terrace. Will Theo realize that Kate is the one who can help him let go of his past and move forward to a happy future? A well-written enjoyable story with a lovely couple, a bit of angst, and a happy ending. I received an ARC of this book via HiddenGems and voluntarily reviewed it.
Having read and loved 'The Duke's Inconvenient Bride' and 'The Earl's Bluestocking Bride' I was very eager to read the next book in the series by Jayne Rivers. The Viscount's Unwanted Bride did not disappoint either.
Kate and Theo are brought together due to Theo's twin's misguided attempt to see his widowed Viscount brother happy again. This leads to a compromising situation, in which Kate and Theo are forced to make the best of things—an impromptu courtship and wedding ensue—to avoid scandal and her ruin. Theo's tragic history with his first wife leads him to distance himself—and his heart—from Kate for a time, but fear not, after the inevitable trials and tribulation the couple are treated to the all important happy ending which every good romance requires.
I wont spoil the plot with any more details, but I will say that it's a great continuation to the series. If you liked the first two books then you'll certainly enjoy this one. I hope Jayne Rivers is planning another book, which I will be waiting with baited breath to read upon release.
This is the story of Katherine Drake & Theodore Blackwell, Viscount Blackwell. Kate is captivated by the tall, dark haired man heading into the tailor’s shop with the weight of the world on his shoulders. When she spots him at a ball a few days later she takes steps to meet him which include a false trip into his arms. They move onto the balcony to get some air where they’re unfortunately discovered alone by one of the ton’s biggest gossips, and although they’re both innocent, he panics and flees the scene ……..
This was a well written story with a fairly predictable plot revolving around identical twins Theo and Nicholas and a case of mistaken identity. It was a bit slow at times but I thought the author covered Theo’s fears very well, and there was a marked character difference between the two twin brothers that also came across well. Although this is the third book in a series it can be read alone, although I plan to check out the first two books in the series too 🐈⬛.

I enjoyed this book so much! As someone who has always loved a good historical romance, I'm thrilled to say this one did not disappoint. There's nothing better than discovering a hidden gem from a wonderful author, and that's exactly what this felt like.
The story centers on Lady Kate Drake, whose reputation is left in tatters after she’s discovered alone with a gentleman who flees, leaving her to face society’s scorn. The last thing she expects is for him to seek her out with a marriage proposal, revealing himself to be the elusive Viscount Blackwell—a man rumored to be responsible for his late wife's death. This leaves Kate backed into a corner: risk a lifetime of being shunned, or put her heart and safety on the line with a notorious stranger. It’s a captivating dilemma that had me hooked from start to finish.

Well written, full of drama, society, love, scandal, secrets, regrets, guilt, twists, steam, intrigue, and a marriage of convenience. Lady Kate sees a man heading into a tailor shop when she is in her carriage. The next time she sees him is at a ball. When going to the balcony for air, they are caught together and Theo (Nicholas) runs away. She now is ruined as society gossips start to spread the rumors. Theo finds out that Nicholas was responsible, he offers a marriage of convenience to her. The only trouble with that is she wants a real marriage. She has to tread carefully to make him see her point of view. But he has some secrets that they need to talk about so that they are able to move into the real marriage. These characters are witty and fun to read about. Some are from earlier books in this series. Really enjoyed this story as well as the rest of the series. Would strongly recommend to others.
I received this story and leave this unbiased, honest review.
Right bride for the right groom - This is a slow burn story with a little steam featuring two characters brought together under a cloud of deceit. One snap decision by his mischievous twin changed everything for Theodore and Katherine. He never wanted to remarry, his first marriage ending in pain and heartache. But his honor required that he do the right thing, placing his leg in shackles to wed the young miss his brother unwittingly compromised. She had no desire to marry either. But needs must if she was to unburden her family, performing the one duty assigned to young ladies of the gentry. A rocky start to their relationship, especially considering she thought he left her in the lurch. A good story with great MCs who were slow to fall, their tentative dance to love a joy to read. Nicholas was the most delightful character of all though, his erstwhile behavior the reason for it all.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. The blurb is what attracted me to the story. It got going quickly, which was nice. I didn't much care for Kate in the beginning, though I did like Theo at the start. My liking for the characters changed midway as Kate became the more mature and empathetic one, while Theo became a mess due to his past. They figured it out in the end, which made it all worth it.
It was a fast read and enjoyable. The two main characters were engaging, even with their faults. There wasn't a large cast of characters, but I found Theo and Kate enjoyable enough to not need others around as their story unfolded. If I have one criticism, it's that the story dragged on a bit at the end. But even that was worth reading as loose ends were being tidied up.
If you like historicals that are sweet, focus on emotion and the relationship, you'll enjoy this book.
We have a couple with secrets and they are not supposed to meet! We have Lady Katherine Drake aka Kate is determined to marry in her second season so much so she makes a declaration!
When she is caught alone at a ball on the balcony with a gentleman she is compromised more because he runs away! Lord Theodore Blackwell, Viscount Blackwell has a terrible reputation of causing the death of his first wife and then of his father!? Now he has to add compromising an innocent to that list!?
Theodore aka Theo had a secret weird in a way most people would be proud of!
Secrets have a way of coming out and when they do it’s never a good time!
These two have a rocky road to a HEA especially when history almost repeats itself! Bravo I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
This was my second book by Jayne, I was able to read its ARC and it delivers everything you want in a scandal-steeped Regency romance with emotional resonance.
Kate’s vulnerability and moral courage make her instantly lovable. The Viscount’s protective demeanor warms what begins as a vicious social trap. Despite scandal and whispers, the protagonist’s unwavering bravery and loyalty anchor the drama with grace—not melodrama.
As Book 3 in the Unconventional Brides trilogy, it delivers satisfying closure with emotional depth—accessible even if you're joining mid-series (like me).
Kate and the Viscount’s union blooms quietly through respect, healing, and reluctant partnership into something genuine and tender. If you want Regency romance wrapped in redemption and whispered desire, The Viscount's Unwanted Bride deserves a place on your shelf.
Theo and Nicholas were identical twins. Widowed Theo had no interest in marrying again until his mischievous brother dragged him into a scandal by compromising Kate. Kate was completely innocent in the matter, but she faced certain ruin if Theo didn't take responsibility. Making matters worse, Theo was rumored to have murdered his first wife. This was a great forced marriage story. Kate had been fooled by the twins and Theo still hadn't recovered from the loss of his first wife. Kate was a very strong person and she really fought hard to save her marriage. Theo had lots of emotional baggage that he needed to sort out but he eventually became the husband that Kate needed and deserved. Lots of engaging family drama. I wonder if Nicholas will ever get his own story?.

This book delivers drama at its finest. A deeply traumatized Viscount becomes the unintended victim of his twin brother’s well-meaning but misguided attempts to bring happiness back into his life. What follows is a journey filled with misunderstandings, secrets, heartache, and—ultimately—healing.
Set in the Regency era, this is a tender slow-burn romance that beautifully balances emotional struggles with the hope of a second chance at love and happiness.
I found myself both enjoying and suffering alongside the characters from beginning to end. Their story completely captured my attention!
Thanks to BookSirens, the publisher and author for this advance review copy, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
It's been quite a while since I've read a historical romance but I'm very glad ended that dry spell with Kate & There's story. Like any good historical movie this book is a slow burn but once the fire gets going it's hot and spicy. There' no real OW drama, Theo is a widow but is more worried that he will cause Kate any sort of unhappiness or pain than him actually being hung up on a past grand love that died too soon. Of course there's a bit of a scandal and some very realistic miscommunication between the two but it all gets wrapped up in a perfect HEA. This is the 3rd I'm the series but the 1st I have read so as I wait for Theo's twin to jet his story I'll go get caught up on the first 2 books in the series lol.
I just finished reading The viscounts unwanted bride, and before that, pride and prejudice, which is ironic, because the viscounts unwanted bride was very pride and prejudice vibey!
A noble debutant caught on the balcony with non other than the viscount! What a scandal this is!
This is Kate’s second year, and is determined to find a Husband so as to not burden her family any longer, but she doesn’t know what she is getting into when she ends up with the widowed viscount that is rumored to have killed his late wife.
Scandalous, funny, romantic, and entertaining! Kept me up til 1am to finish.
I enjoyed this story. It can stand alone but some secondary characters have been in other books. The heroine is caught in an alone with a gentleman by a big gossip. The gentleman leaves quickly. He admits what he did to his twin and says he used the twin’s name to get into the party. The twin doesn’t want to remarry after his wife died as he feels like he is a failure as a husband, but to save the family’s reputation he proposes. The heroine does realize the switch until after the marriage. Will she forgive the brothers? The romance is a slow burn.
