I have just received a complimentary copy of The Flow of Zen from Voracious Readers Only. What can I say, WOW!!!! Around 8 years ago I discovered Mindfulness and have managed to bring it into play when I need to dull the noise in my head. My teacher often spoke of 'Flow' but, I didn't get it. Now I do thanks to this book. Its written in such an easy way, no big, long words that need explanation, just simple examples in story form of how it works. Each 'tale' has some questions for you to think about and put it into perspective for your life. Every Readers questions will be unique to them. Then there are some simple exercises to try and incorporate into you life at times when needed. This is the perfect book to help with the understanding of Flow and Mindfulness. Once read you will find yourself hearing the sheep bleating in the fields 5 fields away. Absolutely fantastic read. Thank you
Unexpectedly Helpful I found this book of short stories about mindfulness more helpful and thought-provoking than I had expected. Each one takes only a few minutes to read, but I found my mind returning to them at odd moments throughout the day.
I don't really have a "mindfulness" practice in my day-to-day life, but this might be a good way to start.
There are 21 powerful reads in this collection. Each one may help you deal with anxiety in your everyday life. Full of information and inspiring words to aid you I received an advance copy from hidden gems and a wonderful read
This a lovely book. The stories are short which makes it a perfect mental break during a busy day. The tales are thought provoking and linger in the mind. Truly a gift for those seeking to clear their minds and find an inner peace.
Another great collection of simple but profound stories that helps to dive deep into contemplating the simplicity of life. A perfect treasury for the Zen practitioner.
I believe every story had a very profound meaning and kept it so simplistic the reader will always stay focused on the message. I plan to read this over and over when life gets crazy. P.N.
Stopping the "clutter" for just a moment can start the path to real peace and mitigate the chaos coming at us from all around. This isn't dropping out, but realizing just how much of the chaos "just doesn't matter" in any way to your life.
A must recommended read for anyone looking to practice mindfulness. The reflective questions at the end of every chapter are very useful to make you think and act in the right direction.
This book is a great addition to anyone's spiritual/daily practice. Could definitely include alongside the other 2 novels with 21 short stories in each, which will give you 63 short stories to read from. Definitely should read one per day and could use the helpful reflection questions or practices. Beautiful in its simplicity and my favorite of the three.
A thoughtful and calming collection. The short, digestible stories invite reflection and help foster a deeper sense of calm. I especially appreciated the prompts at the end of each piece. They gently encourage mindfulness, introspection, and acceptance in a practical, accessible way.
I recommend this to anyone interested in deepening their mindfulness practice, looking for a peaceful read before bed, or seeking simple inspiration for meditation or journaling.
As someone who meditates daily, I was excited to dive into this book. It’s as if the author took Aesop’s fables and spun them with the wisdom of the East to deliver these gems. I am going to check out the rest of the author's work
