I am giving this book a 1.75 star rating. This was the final book. The way this series started was so excellent and with so much potential. I believe the author lost her way and didn't know what direction she wanted to go in.
One aspect about the story I liked was that Ariane finally got rid of Peter. However, the story of Peter lingered in the story, even right until the end and beyond for me. "He knew that there was one way to make sure she would stay with him forever—to get her pregnant." My first thought was, What???!!! Getting her pregnant is the ultimate betrayal of trust. He can't stop his controlling ways.
The story had gotten more convoluted with the addition of Marc and David. Ariane needed a good man to erase the past relationships that have left her damaged, but to bring in a menage into the story was unnecessary. And I really didn't like that Marc and David was too forward. They just moved too fast for me.
This story resolved nothing for me and ended abruptly. You really don't hear about Mary and George. You get a chapter to see about them. There was more to this story that the author didn't elaborate on. There could be more than 2 daddies for this baby. Get my drift? Still an easy read but it will leave you hanging to no end.
I didn't have any problem with the choice Ariane made, or the path her love life took but it was too rushed for me and her acceptance was way too fast for a person that have been through too much heartbreak. There are several characters that disappeared from the story that ended in unresolved situations in previous books, but were no addressed in this one like Patrick, or Martinique and Nathanael.
Regarding the ending, I think it deserved at least an epilogue to see how she was doing as well as other characters like Mary, George and Charles.
Not a HEA but an introduction to the series so be sure to have the other books available so you can jump right in.
It took a few novellas to get to this point but I think I like where this story ended. Unfortunately, because the first few novellas in this series, in my opinion, wasted time with a relationship that went nowhere, I would have loved to discover more of the relationship between Ariane and her two men. I would have enjoyed more seeing how their feelings grew. I did like how Ms. Rigal continued to switch each chapter to a new perspective.
Losing Caroline must have been heartbreaking but as a reader I'd like to think she had her hand in the story from the very beginning. She knew the type of man the Ari needed and from her deathbed she was determines to connect them. I do hope that there will be at least another book or two in this series! I'm quite anxious to find out how things end when Peter learns of the pregnancy and the 2 men.
I am very happy with how Ariane's relationship with Peter turns out. I loved how we were given an update on Mary and George's relationship, and I loved seeing Charles. Overall, very happy with how things turn out for Ariane in all aspects of her life.
Wow...I really hope there is more coming. I just love this story and the sexy doctors. And I am dying to know the real stories she has been left to read.
