You can try to leave your old life. But what if it won’t leave you?

Gabriel Wolfe is done with ops. Too much blood. Too many friends dead. His days, and nights, haunted by memories of those he has lost. Trying to heal, he spends his time at a gym in an unfashionable part of Paris, teaching martial arts to poor kids. But whether he likes it or not, the call of duty instilled in him as a child and reinforced by his military commanders has only been quieted, not deleted.

So when he hears a woman cry out that her sister’s been stabbed, he rushes to help. But his instincts, always so trustworthy, betray him. Now it’s his life in danger. A razor-sharp knife to his throat and seconds left to submit to robbery or have his blood spilled.

‘Odette is missing!’

Elsewhere in the ‘city of love’, a twelve-year-old girl has disappeared on her way home from school. Her parents are frantic with worry, but the local police don’t want to know. After his encounter with the wannabe muggers, Gabriel runs into the missing girl’s mother. And he promises to help her find her daughter.

What they don’t know is that Odette Diallo has been taken by people traffickers. They plan to auction her on the dark her body the prize for the highest bidder.

The knife points the way

Gabriel reunites the knife the muggers used with its rightful owner. And in return he offers to help Gabriel find Odette. Together with Gabriel’s sister, Tara, they begin a race against the clock to find Odette before the auction ends and her fate is sealed.

Readers’ opinions

“Yet again, Andy had surpassed himself. Only a 1/4 way through but a real page-turner. Another best seller, which I would 100% recommend to anybody looking for a cracking yarn.”
Ian Brown

“Love the Gabriel Wolfe series and I have to say another brilliant read!. The stories just get better and better. Really didn't want to put it down. You would definitely want Gabriel on your side. Highly recommend this author.”

“Just when you think Andy Maslen can't get any better, he pulls it out of a hat.....lots of clever plots inter-weaved to make one intriguing thriller, from Hong Kong, Texas, Cambodia and Texas again this is one resilient soldier with one thing one his mind.....Why?”
Bev Proffitt

A hero like no other

Readers have compared Wolfe to other familiar action heroes. Jack Reacher. John Milton. Ben Hope. Spider Shepherd. Mitch Rapp. But in truth he is his own man.

He's no super-soldier or indestructible man-mountain. If he's shot, he bleeds ... and he hurts. His PTSD, which he battles along with his country’s enemies, gives his missions a sharper edge.

But make no mistake. Wolfe is a good man to have on your side in a tight spot. And he always finds time to help those in trouble, whether or not they are paying for his services.

Haunted by the memory of his murdered wife, Gabriel Wolfe is a man searching for peace. He tries to find it in a modest Paris gym, teaching martial arts to underprivileged kids and staying out of trouble. But the call of duty is never far behind.

When Gabriel narrowly survives a brutal knife attack while saving a young girl, he’s pulled into a harrowing mystery—a teenage girl has been kidnapped, and the police refuse to act. Driven by instinct and fueled by justice, Gabriel enlists the help of his sister Tara and a fellow ex-vet to track down the missing girl and uncover the truth.

What starts as a local crime soon spirals into an international web of danger, deception, and deadly secrets. With non-stop action, a compelling cast of characters, and Andy’s signature razor-sharp storytelling, this gripping thriller grabs you from the first page—and doesn’t let go.

A masterclass in high-stakes suspense, this is Gabriel Wolfe at his best. You won’t be able to put it down.

Edged Weapon is a great and exciting addition to Andy Maslen's Gabriel Wolfe series!

Gabriel Wolfe is minding his own business on his way to his gym when he meets a couple of young miscreants who were trying to rob him. From that incident, he obtained a knife and was on his way to find the place from whence the knife originated. ]

On his way there he met a woman crying about her missing Odette, her 12-year old daughter. It appeared that she went missing on her way home from school. Gabriel continued to return the knife and found an experienced man who agreed to assist Gabriel in their search for Odette.

From then Mr. Maslen has crafted a great international search for Odette by Gabriel, his friend, and then Tara, his sister, joins them.

Edged Weapon by Andy Maslen is the latest in the Gabriel Wolfe series and Gabriel is living quietly in an unfashionable area of Paris and helping out in the local gym. Then one morning on his way into work he hears a shout that her sister has been stabbed when Gabriel goes down the alley, he is almost mugged by two young girls. Then he is asked to help find a young black girl who at 12 has gone missing from her home.
Gabriel and his sister Tara then try to find the girl Colette before she is sold at auction by two unscrupulous Syrians, who run the area. Will they get to her in time?
I really enjoyed reading the latest in this series.

Gabriel Wolfe has seen too much blood, too many wars. Now living in Paris with his sister, Tara, he just wants a quiet simple life. But something is missing. When he meets a woman who needs his help, he knows he must help her and that maybe helping ordinary people will help him find what is missing in his life. This woman's young daughter, Odette is missing. Gabe finds out that she has been kidnapped by child traffickers and is going to be auctioned off. Can Gabe, with the help of his sister, and his new friend, Jacko, find and save Odette before she is sold or worse...

Action With Penache

Author Maslen writes in an easy to read style, with enough detail to picture the scene without bogging down the action. This was another very good adventure in the Gabriel Wolfe series (readers get richer context by reading in order). However, I did deduct one star here because the tone shifted drastically when we heard the young lady’s perspective for the first time, in a way that doesn’t jive with her age.

Andy Maslen has written another Gabriel Wolfe epic story which I couldn't put down. His stories are so well put together you never forget the storyline when you put the book down, pick it up later and you're head is still in the thick of the adventure. Hopefully, he will keep on producing such talented story telling to let us lose ourselves in the books.

Faultless writing.

Mr Maslen strikes again, fast, evocative writing by a master storyteller.
One storyline or is it ?
No spoilers from me but we'll worth the investment.
Talk about cliffhangers.
