3. Carter
4. Phillip
5. Andrew (Coming 4/4/2016)
6. Rider (Coming Soon)

Phillip Lanning is beyond tired. The jobs they’ve been doing with their search and rescue company are just draining him. He needs a break and isn’t sure how to tell his brothers that he’s burnt out. When Nic appears in his apartment to tell him of another mission, this one happens to be his mate, and she’s sick to boot, Nic tells him that the only way she’ll live is if he converts her into a leopard. She doesn’t have much time left. Phillip doesn’t know what to think.

Charleston Grant, better known as Charlie, knows her days are numbered. The tumor’s pressing on her optic nerve and the doctors aren’t giving her long. And when she fell into possession of a coded book, she and her mom became a target. Charlie just wants to get her mom to safety before she dies. Nic tells her he can help her with that, to go with the Lannings and everything will work out.

When Charlie wakes, she knows something is off. She was supposed to die, but instead she can see. And the story she gets about shifters and immortality has her head spinning. Not to mention finding out that her mother isn’t really her mother and her life to this point has been one big lie. And the woman she’s been protecting has sold her out…Charlie is at her wits end. Now a surprise visitor, a fate, shows up and says that Charlie and Phillip were never supposed to meet…she had gone to great lengths to make sure of it…now both Charlie and Phillip are pissed. Who does this woman thinks she is?

'Phillip' is the fourth book in Kathi S. Barton's "Lannings Leap" series and truthfully, I just can't get enough. This one starts out a bit different than her previous books. Everyone seems to be exhausted from the missions they've been taking on. So much so that Phillip immediately collapses on his couch when he returns rather than going through the effort of making himself ready and going to bed. Before he can even get fully asleep Nic enters to tell him it's imperative they go on another mission. This one involves Phillip's mate and without their help in finding her and changing her into a leopard, she won't make it. If you've been following along with the series then you know the Lannings have been looking for a Charlie Grant who was in trouble, according to what they found in Mr. Murphy's mind, but hadn't been able to locate him. Turns out that Charlie Grant is Charleston Grant and he is actually a she. There's a great deal of mystery surrounding this woman. So much so that part of her memories has been blocked out. One discovery opens another until there is a plot against not only Charlie but the Lannings and Kendra along with her kingdom. The family is growing by leaps and bounds along with their magic. Not to worry, the chemistry between Phillip and Charlie is hotter than blue blazes even though there seems to be trouble on all sides. Max is quickly becoming one of my favorite characters and he's decided he likes having a large family. So much so that he tends to stick his nose in and manipulate circumstances in order to achieve positive results during events that will happen. We were told a new mate is on her way but it's unclear whether she's for Andrew or Rider. I'm hoping somewhere within the next two books we're able to see Kendra and Nic find their happy ever after as well.

This was such an amazing book that I had a very difficult time putting it down. I was hooked from the very beginning. The pace was not to slow nor to fast, but just perfect. the characters are amazing and you will fall in love with them and want to see them succeed. The story will keep you interested and entertained from beginning to end and when you do get to the end you want more. This has got to be read, no doubt about that.

Phillip's world is about to change, in more ways than one. Phillip is tired. Emotionally, mentally, and physically drained. The family's rescue company is taking a serious toll on all the guys. They know they're providing a necessary service, yet they're not sure how much more they can take.

As if that struggle isn't enough, Phillip is informed by Nic that his mate needs the family's help and she's sick, very sick. Phillip isn't ready for a mate, but that quickly changes once he meets her.

Charleston, aka Charlie, Grant is in hiding with her Mom. Through her business she accidentally acquired a very incriminating book containing information regarding some very powerful people. Charlie is also dying...soon. The only way to save her is for Phillip to change her now. What a way to begin your mating.

While Phillip and Charlie are adjusting to their new relationship, Charlie also discovers some heartbreaking information about her past. She's devastated to learn she's been lied to her whole life. While struggling with these changes and revelations, a plot is uncovered to take Linyah's sister, Queen Kendra's throne, and start a war. It also seems as if someone has been messing with destiny and changed the natural course of events to suit their needs. As in, Phillip and Charlie should've met years ago, but because it didn't happen then, this person is still pouting and has decided everything must now change because she deems it so. Her new plan was to always keep them apart, thereby changing the future of all the Lannings, and quite literally the life of one of them.

I highly recomend this book and I do suggest you read the series in order for the sake of continuity and to fully enjoy each story. Kathi, as always, delivers another fantastic book. This is why I've been a loyal fan since I first discovered her.

Phillip Lanning is tired, he just wants to sleep for a week and is not impressed when Nic shows up to tell him he has to go save someone important to his family. Finding out the person is sick with little time remaining doesn't make him happy, finding out its his mate just adds to the pressure. Charleston Grant is running out of time, she is getting weaker by the day and just wants to end her life. However, first she must get her mother to safety and Nic promised he would see that done. When he brings Phillip to help things go quickly to crap and she finds herself waking up with a new perspective on life. Phillip was always the one the mates liked, he seemed so sweet but underneath is a man of steel. I liked getting to see this other side of him, watching him and Charlie come together was quite amusing. Both are strong willed and are sure to butt heads. Young Max helps to figure out some of the mysteries, I do hope he will get his own story at some point. Easy to read, some mystery, a bad guy or two of course and a plot that is unfolding with each new story. I love how each story is connected by something, having the other characters interacting keeps the family feeling and provides for some great reading. I look forward to seeing where the author goes next.

Phillip Lanning is the the youngest of the Lanning brothers. Like his other brothers the job he's doing with Lanning Search & Rescue is starting to take a toll on him. All work without much positive outlook would wear any person down. When Nic tells him he must go rescue Charleston Grant and must be ready to make an important decision for him and Charleston.

Charleston Grant, aka Charlie, knows her days are numbered. If she doesn't die from the tumor she's sure the men that are chasing her will catch up to her and put a bullet in her head. She knows nothing about paranormals and has need for a mate when she knows she's just going to die.

But after passing out, she wakes and finds she can see, her mother sold her out, and oh yeah the newest visitor says she was never suppose to meet Phillip. How much can one woman take?

Find out what happens when you threaten a Lanning's mate and future. Also see what happens when all of the family comes together to take out the enemy.

BTW I CAN'T WAIT FOR RIDER TO MEET HIS MATE!!!

Lanning brother Phillip finds his mate in this addition of Lanning's Leap. The Lanning clan has been working search and rescue missions for a long time now and they are all getting burnt out with the number of missions as of late. Plus the leopards are finding their mates, so they want to stick close to home.

Charleston Grant "Charlie" hasn't long to live since her brain tumor has progressed and making her sicker as days go by. Phillip must make an important decision regarding his new mate.....convert her or she will die...and time is of the essence. Like his other brothers who have found their mates, his first reaction is to block out his feelings. Will Phillip deny his destiny and the life he could have with this female? Will his natural instinct to protection her win the day?

The characters in this series are all amazing. The youngest family member Max, the son of Carter Lanning's mate Murph, is one of my favorites. This story has it's share of bad guys too, so there is tons of exciting action.

Phillip, book 4 in the Lanning's Leap series is my favorite one so far. As part of Lanning Search and Rescue, Phillip is just one part of the team. He is also the next in line to find his mate. Her name happens to be Charley, and she is dying. The only way to save her is to turn her, not knowing if she is strong enough to survive. But survive she does. Not knowing about shifters, Charley has a bit of a problem accepting that at first. She doesn't seem to have a problem with being Phillips mate. Several things are going on in this story and I really recommend reading the first 3 books before reading this one or you will be confused. With other races of beings, "mobsters", crooks and an extraordinarily smart child it will be easy to become lost. I would like to say that I wish the Lanning's lived in my town.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for a honest review.

Confession: I started reading this series because I came across the cover of THIS book. I really liked the cover.

With that being said, the story line was okay. I felt like something was missing. The pacing is quick and the author does use suspense.

I just don't know what to think of the characters with all these powers. I read paranormal all the time and usually, the powers that characters have are established. I don't know, maybe it's just me. But it seems that no one really knows what the characters can do completely. I don't know. It was an okay read IMO. I want to finish the series because I want to know what trials the others face when they get their mates. This is not a series that I would read again and again. It just hasn't captured me in that way.

Give it a try though. Isn't the cover of Phillip amazing!!!

Meet Phillip Lanning - he works with his brothers doing search and rescue. He's tired - bone weary tired and just wants to sleep. But that isn't his luck when he is told he needs to find Charleston Grant.

Charleston is better known as "Charlie" and is sick - in fact she is dying and only Phillip can save her as she is his mate. There are many people after Charlie for a "book".

Can Phillip save her? This is most definitely a must read and would recommend to everyone. Congrats to Kathi S Barton on another great book and series. Can't wait to read the next in this series.

Still Very Good!

Phillip & Charlie (aka Charleston Grant) 's story is mostly about the good vs bad plots going on in the Lanning's lives; not a lot about their mating as the 1st 2 books were about.

Because there's not much of a mating story, not many sex scenes either for the most part this book was between a pretty good book & a very good book.

I don't know sometimes whether or not I want to keep reading about this series; but knowing me I probably will as I'm already invested in finding what happens next with this family.

Once again Kathi gave me another book boyfriend to fall in love with. I love the Lanning's Leap series. Phillip & Charlie mating was different because of charlie's situation but it added to how the good they were together. Charlie is a fighter & Phillip is a protecter. The book was action packed with a few surprises I'm looking forward too. Can't wait for Andrew's book. Loved It!!!

Great Series from a Great Author!

Of all the great stories I have read, there are only a few must haves on my list. Kathi Barton is one of them. All of her stories grab your heart, and make you fall in love with the characters. I will not give out any clues, but do yourself a favor and buy book one of this series. You will be happy you did.
