What would you do if you are catcalled? What would you do if someone harrxes you on the public transport or in a secluded place?
.
Legally yours gives answers to all these questions and more along with the legal rights and actions that would help you. This is done in a simplified manner that is completely comprehensible to the common people.

It is really knowledgeable and I would say an encyclopedia of common laws and remedies that everybody should be aware of. It has sections in Segsual harxxment, DV, divorce, workplace rights like maternity leaves, reproductive rights and much more.

As someone who don't really like reading non-fiction, this was a really good book that made legal knowledge accessible and interesting to learn. It has real life examples and interactive activities that enhanced the experience and made it much more fun.

I think everyone should read it and be aware of the things said in this book, I highly recommend to all regardless of whether you are a reader or non- reader, likes or dislikes non fiction - basically everyone.

In a country where the complications of law often remain a distant, intimidating for the average citizen, especially women, "Legally Yours" by Manasi Chaudhari emerges not just as a guidebook, but as a timely involvement with contemporary time. The author is an award-winning lawyer and the founder of "Pink Legal", a platform supported by UN Women, this book describes Indian laws and makes them accessible, digestible, and, most importantly, easily actionable.

Divided into 10 chapters, this book touches upon almost every area of a woman’s personal and professional life starting from sexual harassment and workplace discrimination to cyberbullying along with domestic violence, marriage, live-in relationships, divorce, inheritance, and reproductive rights. What makes this book stand out is not just the comprehensiveness of its coverage, but the clarity with which each legal right is explained. Instead of hiding behind legal jargon or critical laws, the author opts for simple, concise language that prioritizes clarity without compromising the depth of laws.

Unlike traditional law books, this book reads like a compassionate friend who also happens to be a very competent lawyer. Even complex areas like inheritance law or prenuptial agreements are explained with impressive clarity. Each chapter is seasoned with real-life examples, case studies, and legal terms those are simplified into layperson language, and bullet points with tables that enhance readability and visual appearance.

✍️ Strengths :

🔸The greatest strength of the book lies in the way she mixed all needful laws with daily real life experiences.
🔸 Covering niche issues like prenuptial agreements to largely concerning issues like workplace harrasment, the book covers diverse topics which is admirable.
🔸With real life scenarios, questions rising in our day to day life, and even checklists which is quite helpful in everyday makes the book engaging to readers and encourages active learning.
🔸In our country, legal literacy, especially among women, remains alarmingly low, this book becomes essential reading for everyone with necessary informations and their significant applications.

In conclusion, it is more than just a book, it’s a necessary education, an empowering resource, and a wake-up call. While it speaks directly to women, its lessons are universal. Legal knowledge should never be a privilege, and the author exactly ensures that it isn’t.
Whether you are a student, a working professional, a homemaker, or simply someone who wants to be better informed, this book is a must-have on your shelf. Because empowerment doesn’t start in courtrooms, it begins with awareness.

I truly believe that domestic violence is an epidemic in our country, with countless women falling prey to it every single day. The only way to beat an epidemic is to vaccinate the population. In our case, awareness and action are the best forms of vaccination.”

Even in today’s so called modern world women’s condition in society is still not ideal. Every now and then we see on social media how women are facing injustice in households, workplace, on social media, almost everywhere. One primary reason for that is women being unaware of their legal rights. A well informed woman is a well empowered woman. We collectively have failed, specially in country like ours” in empowering our women. This book works like a crash course, divided in 10 chapters, it provides a complete guide on almost every issue women face today. From sexual harassment to cyber bullying, workplace to domestic abuse, issues related to marriage, divorce, live in relationships, to reproductive rights this book touches almost everything and gives you a complete roadmap for rights and legal procedures to make you well informed individual on the topic.
It is important to know your rights against any sort of oppression, knowledge allows you freedom and courage to fight back. Speaking up for yourself starts from knowing what you deserve. This book is a must read for every women so that she is well equipped to fight a legal battle if she has to. Book provides detailed definitions of terms, explanation on remedy against any act, and procedure to follow in time of need. Sensitive issues of domestic harassment, abortion, money related matters are very well explained in the book.
The only part I less liked in comparison to the whole book is where author at some instances give examples from movies and web series. Even though I agree that movies are mirror of society but still when you’re reading such a serious book you want to read some real life examples (which author has provided on many occasions) one flaw that I can point out is not related to this book, it is fault of our system. Can Everything written in this book be applied in real world? idk, but it’s difficult to navigate your ship in this corrupt and lazy system. A country where court cases go for years your legal knowledge might not help you that much. But sooner or later, as I hope, justice does prevail and knowing your rights and fighting for them is worth it. This book deserves a place in every library, every girl’s bookshelf. Read it as a guide, a manual, a must read for everyone.

𝐐𝐮𝐨𝐭𝐞:
"Every woman's guide to her legal rights."

𝐖𝐡𝐲 𝐈 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬?
We are all familiar with the daily struggles—and to an extent, the oppression—that women continue to face even today. It is crucial for everyone, regardless of gender, to be informed about legal rights. So when I came across this book, I instantly knew it was something important and necessary for me to read.

𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
I absolutely loved the book cover. It’s not overdone and features one of my favourite colour combinations—pink and black. The design is both subtle and eye-catching, and the illustration portraying justice is highly relevant. The title is both apt and creative. The use of tables and bullet points greatly enhances the reading experience and clarity.

𝐍𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧:
The narration is direct and to the point. The content is well-structured and concise. While the language is generally simple, it does include some legal terminology—which is expected and appropriate for the subject.

𝐎𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧:
✓ There are very few books that draw you in from the very first chapter, and this was certainly one of them for me. The author opens by discussing the importance of simplifying legal rights and why awareness is essential—using real-life examples to drive the point home.
✓ Many women are unaware of their legal rights concerning sexual harassment. Even more concerning is that many don’t know what behaviours qualify as harassment—it’s not limited to physical assault. This book offers a detailed and accessible guide on the subject, which I believe will be invaluable to women today.
✓ Manasi also addresses cyberbullying—a growing concern. Topics like rape threats, identity theft, and sextortion are covered with care and depth, highlighting the legal protections available.
✓ The book delves into domestic violence, reproductive rights, live-in relationships, and prenuptial agreements, offering important legal insights.
✓ What I found particularly useful was the introduction of topics related to wealth management—such as inheritance, succession planning, and trust funds—which are often overlooked.
✓ One of the most relevant sections, in my opinion, was the explanation of women’s legal rights in the workplace.
✓ These topics may not be widely discussed, but the issues are extremely common. There’s a clear need for more legal awareness, and this book does a brilliant job addressing that. I genuinely hope the author continues the series, covering even more topics in future editions.
✓ This book is a must-read—not just for women, but for men as well.

"Legally Yours: Every Woman's Guide to her Legal Rights " by Manasi Chaudhari – A Must-Read book.

Life can take a U-turn at any moment—no one knows what tomorrow holds. It's unpredictable. But what we can do is prioritise ourselves, stay aware, and take the right precautions to live safely and responsibly.

Legally Yours by Manasi Chaudhari is one of the most important books I've read this month—and honestly, the first book of 2025 that I believe deserves a permanent place on every bookshelf, TBR list, or reading corner that brings you comfort.

This book taught me so much about the struggles women face, their rights, and the strength required to fight back. Through real-life examples and clear explanations, it provides empowering knowledge in a truly lucid and engaging way.

To be honest, I’ve read a lot of book introductions, but very few have ever convinced me crazily to dive into the book. This one, however, stands out. It’s one of the best introductions I’ve ever come across—intense, sincere, and persuasive. You can feel the author’s efforts to make readers take this book more seriously.

Importantly, this book isn’t just for women. It’s for everyone—because even men need to be aware of these laws, especially when their loved ones might be suffering silently.

Topics like sexual harassment, cyberbullying, domestic violence, workplace rights, marital issues, divorce, financial matters, and much more are addressed here. I learned so many things I didn’t even know were possible. It doesn’t matter whether you’ve experienced these issues personally or not—what matters is being aware of what’s happening around us.

You can genuinely feel the effort that has gone into writing this book. Despite the complexity of legal terms and laws, the author uses simple, basic vocabulary that makes it accessible to all readers.

Thank you, respected author, and thank you to the publisher, for your dedication and hard work. Definitely a must read . Super happy to have this in my hands.

"We don’t know what tomorrow might bring, but we can at least prepare ourselves today."

In a nation where the law seems far away and out of reach, Legally Yours by Manasi Chaudhari is a welcome guide for women in India going through the rights. With lucidity, empathy, and real-world applicability, the book provides not only legal facts but a feeling of empowerment.

Chaudhari writes as though she is familiar with the system from the inside out—and yet knows how daunting it can be for a novice. She shuns thick legalese and instead uses simple, compassionate language. Every chapter concentrates on a problem common to many women—harassment, marriage and divorce, rights over property, cybercrime, gender discrimination at the workplace—and clarifies what the law stipulates, what the woman can do, and what practical action she can take.

What sets the book apart is how rooted it is in common Indian realities. It does not present a picture of the legal system that is too rosy. Rather, it recognizes systemic problems such as social stigma, ignorance, and institutional indifference, yet still challenges women not to remain silent. Chaudhari balances realism with optimism, and the book is both informative and emotionally engaging.

As a pioneering women's legal handbook for women, rather than about women, Legally Yours gets it right with its inclusivity, accessibility, and sheer usefulness. It never claims to make all the solutions—just supplies women with the ability to start asking questions, getting answers, and taking the reins of their own legal decisions.

This is not a one-time read and put on the shelf book. It's a book to come back to, to share, to discuss. In a time when knowledge is power, Legally Yours is a quiet revolution, page by page.
A must-read for all Indian women. Honest, practical, and empowering.

“𝑲𝒏𝒐𝒘𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒇𝒊𝒓𝒔𝒕 𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒑 𝒕𝒐𝒘𝒂𝒓𝒅 𝒆𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒘𝒆𝒓𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕. 𝑨𝒏𝒅 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒓𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒕𝒔 𝒅𝒐𝒏’𝒕 𝒃𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒏 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒔𝒐𝒎𝒆𝒕𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒈𝒐𝒆𝒔 𝒘𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒈 - 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒆𝒙𝒊𝒔𝒕 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 𝒅𝒂𝒚.”

✦ The book made me 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐳𝐞 one thing - 𝐁𝐄 𝐇𝐎𝐍𝐄𝐒𝐓. Be honest that generally we don't know anything about law other than that has been shown on tv shows, serials and movies. Sometimes it feels that the constitution is written from another language that it's impossible to break down. Especially the narratives that emphasize on women's rights, and even to navigate relationships, workplace and society, it's better to google your thoughts.

✦ There's where this book steps in - it's 𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐡𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐚𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐜 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐟𝐮𝐥. This book is easy to read and understand - this is where it stands strong. That's the Indian law every woman should know. From her very first rights to her job and retirement - it is divided into 12 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 50 𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐬. The best part is that there's no confusion and they tell you what to do if you face those situations.

✦ This book gives you the right information at the right time. If you're searching for 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐄 𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐒 of 𝐏𝐎𝐒𝐇 act or 𝐑𝐄𝐋𝐀𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐇𝐈𝐏𝐒 & 𝐂𝐎𝐍𝐒𝐄𝐍𝐓 about prenups or maybe you're up to 𝐃𝐎𝐌𝐄𝐒𝐓𝐈𝐂 𝐕𝐈𝐎𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐒𝐀𝐅𝐄𝐓𝐘 for domestic abuse complaints - you're set then.

✦ Each and everything includes the reality about the situations. And their “𝐰𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐝𝐨” guidance. There's a safer spot for me now - and that's this book. This book is written for non lawyers and the background with historical formats are the evidence of this book. The chapters are written in such a way that you want to re-read them. ✨

It’s sad to note that women are india are so used to the idea of sexual harassment that before I read this book, I did not even know cat-calling and eve-teasing accounted as one. Day after day, we hear news of women getting harassed online. They speak up but without sufficient proof nobody listens to them.

Eventually they feel deflated and succumb to society’s pressure, forced to carry out their life as if nothing had happened. We have ignored the needs of women for so long that they don’t even know what laws the constitution has to protect them. The lesser educated category is not even aware of their basic rights. Yet, no move is being made to educate them.

Why wait for something to happen before we start exploring what steps we can take to protect ourselves? The bigger question is- what about the women who don’t have the resources to hire a lawyer even in the most dire circumstances. How are they to deal with threats or blackmailing in that situation?

Doesn’t it make sense to have a concrete binding of all the laws where women are being talked about in the constitution at one place? Because who is to say google is not lying? The random advice that we take online itself comes from anonymous sources.

Legally Yours is a book that I did not know I needed in my closet. It is so powerful and I could not be happier to have come across it. I recommended it to all my friends and family members because a woman’s safety can only be ensured by a woman if she is aware of her rights and the constitutional framework.

This is the best gift you can give to your mother, sister, girlfriend or any other women in your life.

As an Indian woman, I’ve often been told to be careful, to stay quiet, to adjust. But no one ever told me how to stand up for myself using the law. In a country where societal expectations often overshadow legal protections, knowing your rights isn’t just empowering—it’s survival. Legal awareness should be as essential as learning how to read or write, because without it, even the strongest voice can be silenced.

Legally Yours by Manasi Chaudhari felt like more than a book—it felt like a necessary intervention. It moves through the lived realities of women in India: workplace harassment, cyberbullying, domestic violence, live-in relationships, inheritance battles, and even reproductive choices. Legal terms don’t feel distant here—they’re demystified, grounded, and followed by clear steps you can take. And then come the film references—iconic Bollywood moments woven in not for drama, but to make the legal lessons stick. You see the law play out on-screen, and suddenly, it’s not just text—it’s something you can picture, remember, and use.

Reading this book felt like having a quiet but fierce ally by my side—someone who isn’t shouting slogans, but showing me exactly where my power lies. It made me realise how much I didn’t know, and how dangerous that gap can be. Legally Yours doesn’t just give you laws—it gives you language, clarity, and courage. As a woman in India, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed or unheard. But after turning the last page, I felt sharper, stronger, and more prepared. This isn’t just a book I’ll keep—it’s one I’ll pass on.

Okay, I need to say this upfront, EVERY WOMAN NEEDS TO READ THIS! ‼️

And I mean not in the cliché way, like actually read it.
Trust this recommendation blindly.

I don’t even read non-fiction usually, this was more of “okay, let’s just see” kind of purchase but thank gods i did because now it’s easily one of my top recommendations for any girl, no matter what age or background. 💯

If you’ve ever felt unsure about your rights or brushed something off as “just how things are,” this book will flip that switch for you. This is basically legal gyaan minus the jargon told in a super relatable, young-woman-to-young-woman way. 💗🤌🏻

The author, Manasi Chaudhari, is a lawyer and the founder of Pink Legal, and she’s written this with so much clarity and purpose that you feel like she just gets it.

She breaks down legal rights in a way that makes you stop and go, “Wait… that’s actually illegal?” I thought catcalling or men staring creepily or rating girls passing by was just something girls have to “deal with.” turns out nope, that is literally punishable by law and that’s just the start btw 🫠

The book covers everything from street harassment to online trolling, workplace issues, what your rights are in relationships (including live-in ones), what happens legally after a breakup or divorce, even things like inheritance rights and cybercrime and it’s not just surface-level tips, there are actual laws, real-life examples and little fun activities at the end of each chapter that make it feel more interactive and less textbooky. 🫶

What I appreciated most? It made me realize how much I didn’t know. I found myself going to my mom, my cousin, even my guy friends and saying, “Did you know this is actually a thing?” You don’t have to be a law student to understand this. You just need to care about your safety, your rights, and honestly just being more aware in a world that often gaslights women into silence. 🤠

Legally Yours will arm you with the kind of knowledge that makes you want to highlight every page!

"Legally Yours" is a crisp, empowering, and accessible guide crafted to demystify the legal landscape for Indian women. Written by Advocate Manasi Chaudhari, the founder of Pink Legal, this book serves as both an educational tool and a call to action. With clarity and precision, I loved how Chaudhari broke down complex legal rights into digestible, real-world scenarios that every woman can relate to.

What fascinated me the most is how the book made an innovative use of pop culture — laws are explained not just with legal jargon but through relevant and relatable snippets from Bollywood films and web series. For instance, the concept of marital rape, workplace harassment, voyeurism, and rights in a live-in relationship are contextualized using examples from shows like "Made in Heaven", "Lust Stories 2," and movies like "Thappad" and "Drishyam", making the legal provisions both memorable and deeply resonant.

Each chapter is structured to tackle a specific issue — from domestic violence to cybercrime — and is followed by actionable legal steps, contact information for help, and myth-busting facts. The tone is friendly yet firm. And that's exactly what is needed to empower women with the confidence to stand up for themselves without being overwhelmed by legalese.

Legally Yours by Manasi Chaudhari is a clear and compassionate guide to women’s legal rights in India. It covers everything from workplace harassment and property disputes to cyber safety and relationships, using real-life examples and straightforward explanations. The aim is simple: to help women understand their rights and feel confident using them.

Reading it felt like being spoken to, not talked down to. Manasi, the author, keeps her tone practical but warm. There’s no unnecessary jargon, just what people' need to know to feel in control. The book doesn't feel overwhelming for even once. Even the more complex laws have been broken down in a way that make them feel accessible.

Some of the examples in the book hit close to home. It’s surprising how often we move through life unaware of what protections we have. This book is useful whether someone is starting a job, in a relationship, or handling family matters. It covers a wide range of topics.

The author doesn’t just want women to know the law; she wants them to feel strong enough to use it. That’s what gives the book its weight. I don't think a book about laws can be made a more easier-read that this one. At present times, this book feels more necessary than ever.

As a child, I was always fascinated by the idea of Law.
I used to wonder, how a group of people in authority could create rules that everyone simply followed? It made me question: is this really how our system works? And if so, how would a young and unaware child like me ever understand these laws well enough to stand up against the wrongdoings?
Little did I know, I would still be asking myself the same questions even now.
But thanks to this book, my questions were finally answered!

Legally Yours might be the most compelling book I would
recommend to any woman out there. Not just for the sake of reading, but to actually make you aware of your own rights, getting familiar with the Law and use it as an ally for your own protection. This book must exist on every person’s (especially woman) bookshelf.

From the very first page, you can tell this book is written by a woman- for women. Each line feels deeply personal, like an elder sister guiding you through life’s challenges and shielding you at every step. Thankyou, Miss Manasi Chaudhari, for giving us that feeling.

Trust me when I say this: the book is everything.

Legally Yours is one of those books that every woman should have on her shelf. Written by Manasi Chaudhari, a lawyer who truly understands what women go through, this book talks about the legal rights of women in the most simplest way that is easy to understand and feel connected to.

What I loved most is how simple and clear everything is. There’s no complicated legal language or boring text. The author explains serious topics like workplace harassment, online abuse, domestic violence or live- in relationships by using real examples and even scenes from movies and shows we’ve all seen. It makes everything feel so much more real and easy to connect with.

Each chapter focuses on a specific issue and offers clear steps on what to do, where to go for help and how to protect your rights. The writing feels honest and comforting – almost like a friend gently guiding you through situations that are often difficult to face.

Legally Yours is all about helping women feel confident, safe and in control. It will make you feel stronger. I’d highly recommend it to anyone who wants to understand their rights and feel empowered in today’s world.

Legally Yours is more than just a book. It is a resource for all women and minorities to understand their legal rights.

Let me simplify it; women face everything from minor discomfort to straight out assault every day and in every institution be it workplace, marriage, home and even on the roads thanks to the patriarchy. And not every one of us is well versed in our legal rights and not many of us know what to do or how to seek out justice. This book bridges that gap by elaborating on every law that every woman should know and be aware of.

Manasi Chaudhari, I feel is more of a reformer than an author when it comes to this book. Knowing our rights as Indian women is the need of the hour. Legally Yours speaks broadly as well as in depth about Inheritance Laws, what to do when you or your loved ones face domestic abuse, SA, workplace harassment etc. and the best part, you don't have to be a lawyer to understand this book- you could be a simple girl who reviews book to understand this.

Seriously, I love this book and the best thing I can do is recommend it to everyone I know. Woman empowerment begins where you start understanding your rights. Please, read this one.

As a recent law graduate when I was reading this book , I literally felt how beautifully the author has interpreted hard-core concepts of Law into such a basic way that even a someone from non legal background can easily understand that .

As a citizen of this country we should understand the law of this country. Sometimes we as a women easily waive of out rights as we have a very little knowledge of it , so it become need for our us as a women to know these laws.

' Legally Yours ' is a wonderful attempt to simply the complexities of law and translate into something that we all can understand and use.
This book will empower women so that they can take stand for themselves and also for someone who needed the help.

With my internship experiences in court , I have seen numerous cases where women were subjected to gruesome offences and many a time the damage might be eradicated on a prior stage if they knew the basic laws and from where they can take redressal .
