FIVE CUPCAKE LOVE STARS

"Wedding hook ups never amount to anything. Unless that hook up knocks you on your ass."

description

I've found myself another author to stalk and adore, J Daniels has an extraordinary talent to suck me right into her wonderful writing talents and I'm already well aware that when one of her gorgeous books hits my kindle I better had clear my diary until I'm finished. I first became aquatinted with this authors talent when I came across her debut novel 'sweet addiction' straight away I knew I had found an author who writes perfectly for my tastes. I fell straight in love with her ability to make me horny, laugh and swoon all in the same chapters. When I found myself at the end of that book I was eager to hear that Ms Daniels planned on writing a sequel and I'm pleased to announce that not only was the book as good as the first it actually surpassed all my expectations. Reese and Dylan have fast become one of my favourite couples and I'm exited that I can whole heartedly recommend a book that is just my cup of tea.

What's it all about?
Reese Carroll and Dylan Sparks have everything going for them; love, friendship and insanely hot bedroom action. They had an unconventional start but once they found the truth about their feelings for each other nothing can stop them from finding their own version of a happily ever after. Sweet possession is the continuation of a love story that is as sweet as any chocolate cupcake but you better prepare yourself for drama, lust and all things erotic between the sheets because this couple are heading towards a forever relationship but with just a few obstacles that they need face together first. Join this couple and their hilarious friends and fall in love all over again with a story that concludes a perfect love.

What did I love?
Firstly I have to start with a confession, rarely do I fall in love with a companion novel or sequel. My love of romance is all centered around the chase, the sexual tension and all the excitement of the beginning of a love story, so it goes with out saying that my reading preference will always lean towards standalone novels or those series that have a new couple with each book. However I have to admit that this time around the sequel to this series only confirmed my love for this authors writing ability and the characters involved, in fact I loved 'sweet possession' even more than it's predecessor. I was so addicted to this novel I felt like I was wrapped up in this couples love story and this book only confirmed my love for a couple that I'm sure I'll not want to forget. Reese and Dylan were true to their personalities throughout the story, and what can be more appealing than an alpha male with a sweet, swoony side and his feisty, sassy and amusing heroine. I loved every part of reading about the ongoing drama, lust and affection of their 'made for each other' relationship and once again Ms Daniels hit the home run in the erotica stakes. Her delicious sex scenes are some of the best I've read, simply because this author combines heartfelt and outright hot perfectly. From beginning to end I was entertained, fully on board with all the developments and by the end I can admit that I shed a tear or two. Every character had their perfect place and I don't mind begging J Daniels for a story written for Brooke. Cupcakes, true love and dirty, flirty 'take me now' style bedroom action 'sweet possession' whisked me away and I can't wait to read more from this author. J Daniels is on my list of favourite's and I think she's here to stay.

description

Final thoughts?
I can't recommend this lovely author enough, here is a writer who loves her characters and it's obvious to anyone who reads a Jessica Daniels story that she has a passion for writing. I love it when I get wrapped up in the lives of the characters that I am reading about and in this series not only has the author made the hero and heroine unforgettable but there are secondary characters that are practically begging for their own stories too. To the author J Daniels, thank you for writing books that I can have the most enjoyable escape into, I love your imagination and I especially admire your ability to put together a fabulously naughty romance. Here's to authors that we instantly fall in love with and the agonising wait for them to write more. To those readers that have not yet had the pleasure of meeting Reese Carroll I'm jealous that you have the excitement of falling in love with this delicious hero and those that are sweet addicts, this follow up novel will sweep you away. Readers you are in line for a cupcake sized treat, enjoy ... Kisses.

I read Sweet Addiction about 6 months ago and I have no idea why it took me so long to get to the sequel! I love Dylan and Reese and the continuation of their story.

Dylan and Reese are together, happy and planning a wedding. It’s an exciting time for all- even though Dylan and Reese could care less about the actual wedding; they’re just ready to be married to one another. I love their relationship. It’s sweet, fun and steamy. They are great together. Reese is the perfect combination of protective, sweet, kind and lovable. Dylan is always LOL funny. She’s a great friend and loves Reese with everything she is.
I will never regret how I fell in love with Reese. I can’t. Every single second of it was worth it because it led us to this.

I can’t write a review for this book and not mention my favorite character of the bunch- Joey. He really is the best! I would LOVE a Joey and Billy book or novella. That would be great!

I listened to the audio version of this book. The narrator did a nice job capturing Dylan’s spunk and personality. J. Daniels is an author I can always count on to give me a fun and sexy read and Sweet Possession was just that.

You said you didn't care
if that was all we ever were.
That you didn't need anything else.

So here I am .. diving into the next book without even reading the description. I only had one mission .. devour this book as if I was devouring one of Dylan's treats. Then I come to realize it's still Reese and Dylan's story .. and to be completely honest it's bittersweet. I loved how it all wrapped up in the first novel and there was no cliffhanger and now what if it doesn't wrap up as well or it just ruins everything all together?! That was not the case (PHEW!) .. I was in good hands as J. Daniels is a fabulous story teller. If anything; I fell more in love with this AH-MAZ-ING couple! In this novel, you have a chance to see the more vulnerable side to Reese as well as the more bada*s side to Dylan.

I will always protect you, Dylan.
We might not be married yet,

I was in a fit of giggles while reading as well as a sobbing mess! Usually the first novel is the best in a series or the second one because it progresses. This is not the case in this series .. they were TIED! Both were written marvelously and I wouldn't change a thing about it. I was never bored with anything nor eager for it too finish. This couple's journey was bittersweet and I'm so glad I got a chance to read. I did look at the third book's (Sweet Obsession) synopsis and can honestly say I'm intensely looking forward to getting my hands on Brooke's story!

Better than the first book. Maybe because there was less of the stupid relationship drama. But, don't worry, it was a major cheese-fest with a giant dose of smut and unbelievable situations.

6 Possessive Stars

Have you met Reese? If not, well, stay away from him because he’s mine. Nope, I do not share. Gah, if I could pick any book husband, it would be Reese Carroll, please break me off any piece of that.

Sweet Possession is the second book of the sweet addiction series. Sweet Possession continues Reese and Dylan’s relationship.

There’s something about these light hearted books that make me all warm and fuzzy inside. Whenever I am in a funk or need good romance books, these are my go-to reads. I will always have a smile on my face and heck, let’s face it, it makes me appreciate my husband (just a tiny bit more, but don’t tell him that).

I love Sweet Addiction and I am always concerned when I go into book two in any series. I wonder how the author will keep my interest, without the book being too angsty. Well, J. Daniels hit it on the mark. There was mild tension, but no angst. It was pure perfection.

I did the audio version and I will have to scream at the top of my lungs that it’s the BEST way to go. The narrator was PERFECT and I really enjoyed hearing all of the emotions and the book consumed me.

I loved that Sweet Possession was simply Reese and Dylan’s story and there was a fairly simple plot (them getting married) but so much goes on. So Reese and Dylan are planning a wedding. Oh what a joyous time! Dylan wants to elope, she finds the whole wedding process stressful (and I don’t blame the girl). Reese wants a traditional wedding and he is firm in getting what he wants. He is going to marry Dylan in front of family and friends.

I love Reese (I know I already said that, but be prepared I will say it tons more). I love how intense his love toward Dylan is. It never bends and it’s to the point of obsession, but in a good way. Reese needs to go on a business trip, but since he can’t be away from his beloved for too long, he has Dylan go with him. Don’t you just love him?! But wait, it gets better, the whole gang goes with Dylan on the trip. I love it. I feel like the side characters add so much to the story and it really makes it fun and happy. I even love quirky Brooke and I love she will be in the next book! YAY.

Dylan and Reese’s relationships goes strong, but there’s always the third party threat. You will have to read and find out. This actually was my favorite part of the book (well second to the steam!). I pretty much jumped my husband after reading this one because the steam, well it made me blush in all the right places.

If you love Dylan and Reese, you have to read this. They are the perfect and adorable couple.

Audio Questions

What did you love best about Sweet Possession?

Reese’s love for Dylan was the BEST part of this book. He’s the perfect book boyfriend / husband. His love is the all-consuming love I love to read in these kinds of books. It makes my heart melt and sigh with joy. Reese and Dylan’s relationship isn’t perfect, but they work very hard towards over coming issues. I really liked this. It made them real and completely addicting to read.

What other book might you compare Sweet Possession to and why?

I would compare Sweet Possession to Kiss the Sky by Krista and Becca Ritchie. Only because Reese and Dylan’s love reminds me like Connor and Rose’s love. It’s the can’t-live, can’t-eat, can’t-breath without-out-each-other love (yeah I quoted Sex in the City, but it’s true!).

Which character – as performed by Jeremy Arthur and Piper Goodeve – was your favorite?

This is my first book by Piper Goodeve and she is amazing! She is the perfect Dylan. Her voice was feminine, but it wasn’t girly (since Dylan is older). She transitioned her voice well and I loved how she changed into Reese’s voice. I felt her emotions throughout the book and she made my audio experience wonderful. I will listen to any book she narrators.

This is my first book by Jeremy Arthur and he only narrated the epilogue, so I don’t really have an opinion on him. I did like his voice and it was pleasant to listen to. I wouldn’t mind listening to his future books.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I hate this question because I am not a writer, but I would say…

Love is not only sweet, but possessively addicting ß- I tried!

3.5--We're Getting Married--Stars!

This is one of those times where Goodreads really needs half-stars! There really wasn't anything wrong with this book, it was just kind of not really needed. A nice epilogue or even a novella would have been sufficient IMO!

With that being said, I'm super glad this one wasn't filled with stupid drama....at least not too stupid anyways! :)

This book is literally the 10 days leading up to Reese and Dylan's wedding! That and sex!

Wedding
Sex
Wedding
Sex
Wedding
Sex

That's pretty much it! Throw in some drama with douche-bag Bryce and you have the book! I ended up just reading the dialogue from about 30% on just because I wasn't really invested anymore. So for that reason I just can't rate it any higher!

Reese was still possessive and a dirty talker which was quite yummy...

"Nobody finishes what I start when it comes to that pussy. Not even you. You come when I make you. And it will be happening on my cock and in my mouth, not on your fingers."

Honestly my favorite parts of the book were the ones with Joey and Brooke!

I wish this book had been about one of them!

So overall, it wasn't bad. I didn't hate it. It just didn't wow me!

5 Possessive Stars.

In this second installment we find Dylan and Reese busy with the preparations of their wedding. (I mean… their mothers are busy, they really don’t care *that* much.)
But if you think that’s the end of the drama… think again.
Just when they thought they would finally settle down, last minute trouble, old stalkers and old problems came alive again, unwillingly putting them for an ultimate test: are they really ready for an happy end?

Rating: 5 Stars.
Storyline: I’m going to tell you something about me: There are two things I love about books. First are epilogues. LOVE them. Especially if they are further in the future and allow us to see how the main characters lives went. The second is unnecessary drama that make us want to bite our nails, but is quickly resolved and doesn’t drag on angst. The amazing thing? These book had both. It had the drama and since it was a second installment felt like if it was a giant epilogue. Which simply means I loved it.
Writing Style: First person. Female POV. Completely addictive. Jessica Daniels is for sure an author not to lose sight.
Character Development: I loved Reese in the first book, and I loved him even more in this one. Which I didn’t think it was possible. Dylan was also pretty good and this time she didn’t even annoyed me. (Yaay!)
Just like in the first one, an amazing group of supportive characters that brings a great deal of humor to the book.
Steam: Hot.

4 Sweet Possessive Stars ~ For Dylan & Reese ❤
PLUS
2 I'd be amiss if I didn't show some love for Joey Stars! ❤

 photo sweetpossession_zps53035e3d.jpg

If you loved Sweet Addiction and fell in love with Dylan and Reese and their craziness for each other than you will adore this book. I know I did!

Sweet Possession was funny, SEXY, sweet, SEXY, hot, SEXY… do you see a pattern here? Well that's because there is a lot of sex in this book. I am pretty sure that 50% or more of this book was Dylan and Reese having sex, thinking about sex, texting about sex etc. I’m not complaining by any means because for me, it just fit this story perfectly. You see, Dylan and Reese’s relationship is explosive when it comes to sex. That need and craving for that intimacy is what fueled everything else in their relationship.

And there was so much more to Dylan and Reese. They live and breathed each other in a way that at first appears obsessive but I came to realize that all the need, craving, passion stems from the truest form of love. Let the world spin around them. They really didn’t care because all they needed was each other. To me, that kind of love is wonderful. ❤

So what is this all about?

There is only a little over a week until it is Dylan and Reese’s wedding and what a week it ends up being. There is a bachelorette party, dress fittings, mothers and mother-in-laws, cake baking and one crazy ass stalker Bryce that Dylan and Reese have to deal with. Oh and there are a couple of other tidbits too that involves Ian and Juls and Joey and Billy. (You’re going to love them)! All this stuff will have you laughing, fanning yourself many, many times and I confess, I did shed a tear or two. (Weddings always get me)!

Reese ~

Mmmm, he was yummy. He has this possessive sexy side that is insanely HOT then he has this sweet and tender side that had me swooning like crazy. I loved him in Sweet Addiction and I loved him more in Sweet Possession. He loved Dylan with every fiber of himself….kind of intense but I’d take that kind of love too.
 photo reese_zps6d3ca2a9.jpg
“I don’t think I‘ve ever needed to be inside you so badly before. I’m fucking shaking,” ….he enters me, brushes against my mouth with his, and says, “Mine.”

Dylan ~

Dylan changed a bit in this one. She too had quite the possessive sexy side to her that would send Reese over the edge. Sometimes in a good way and sometimes not so much. :) She loved Reese deeply. My heart would race when just a simple touch or just a few words from her would rendered him helpless. ❤
 photo dylan_zpse4b5b42f.jpg
“I enjoy my spectacular view, nodding in appreciate. This man’s ass is a thing of wonder. Muscle upon muscle; it’s insane, even through his pants. I don’t know what exercises he does to work that perfectly-sculpted entity, but its working.”

I know I said that sex made up about 50% of this book but the other 50% was fantastic too. Joey, Juls, Ian and Brooke bring everything full circle. They were that perfect balance to everything Dylan and Reese. There were crazy moments with Bryce too. Seriously, I’m not a violent person but I had a constant urge to punch him in the face!

In each book I always look for that little extra something. In Sweet Possession hands down it was Joey. Whenever he step foot on a page, whenever he opened his mouth I was already giggling. He definitely had his own little show going on. If I could clone him into a real life friend I would. And what I adored most about him was his love for Dylan. Talk about protective! Don’t be ruffling his feathers when it comes to her.

This was definitely a great read for me. Dylan and Reese were on fire! They were insatiable and intense. They were sweet and tender. A perfect combination of “flavors”!

 photo final_zps2056e33a.jpg

Oh…… we get an epilogue too. I love epilogues. And this one has made it to my top 5 favorites! It is from Reese’s POV and it was perfect.

Gaaaaaaah, this book! I am falling in love with J. Daniels SO HARD! If you thought Reese could not get any better, I am happy to announce he definitely is in this one! Still hot and dirty AF, obssessed with his Sweet Dylan and ready to marry her.

I loved this even more than Sweet Addiction. Obviously, I loved the chemistry between these two but all the feelings and everything in the mix? Oh yeah! ME LOVE! And the ending? Awwwwww I died! Highly recommend this love story!

Title:Sweet Possession

Rating:4.5 stars
Cliffhanger:No
HEA:

Sometimes a second book just doesn't have that edge that the first book had for you. Sometimes it just feels like that couple's story has already been told and now the rest is just filler. I was so pleasantly surprised when I discovered that this book had just as much punch as the previous book. In fact, I almost think it might be a little bit better! The crazy drama that was at the end of the first book was absent and we get to just savor more time with this passionate couple. It didn't take long before I was slipping right back into these characters like a pair of old comfy shoes. I kind of went, "Ah, there you are again, you sexy couple. I missed you."

I've now officially fallen in love with J. Daniels writing. I can't get over how addictive this series is to me. It kept me totally caught up in it almost immediately despite the fact that it's been some time since I've read the last book. Her characters are memorable, sexy as hell, and the steam is incredibly well done. I mean, that really must be noted. She never disappoints in that department. It was in full force in Sweet Possession again.

We start off with Reese and Dylan happily engaged but unhappily dodging their mother's meddling in all the wedding plans. As Dylan is a wedding cake maker and her best friend is a wedding planner, you'd think that planning this wedding would be a snap. But she can't escape all the pre-wedding stress that brides are doomed with. On top of that, she has to pack up her apartment above the bakery to prepare to move in with Reese and she's realizing that it may be a little tougher than she thought to say goodbye to her home that she loves. But she's willing to make the sacrifice for the man who's about to become her forever.

The love they feel for each other is obsessive, possessive, and tender. When they're around each other, they're like two magnets that are being pulled together at every moment. Their eyes are always drawn back to each other and their thoughts circle around the other constantly. You can feel their need and passion through the entire book.

Reese is demanding, in control, and sexy possessive about his woman. He's hot as hell and not afraid to explore Dylan's boundaries in the bedroom. But trust me, she can hold her own in and out of the bedroom. She has confidence, she challenges him, she makes him proud. They're matched in intelligence and humor. There couldn't be a better fitted couple in my opinion-I just love them together.

"Two days, love. Two days and you are mine." His words send chill through me. I'm his already but God, the way he says mine like I'm not even close to being his yet makes my mouth go dry.

There was so much I loved about this book, the steam was written exceptionally well, the humor between the two MCs as well as all the supporting characters was top notch, and there was just the right amount of drama without being overdone. I swooned over Reese's romantic gestures in this book! He was so incredible and sweet. Even Dylan's friend has to mention his exceptional relationship skills.

"Seriously. You kind of make us all look bad."

I loved this book! I liked every one of the characters (except douchebag Bryce that needs to get a life and take a hike). There were no moments of boredom or skimming. It was just smooth all the way through. If you haven't read this series, you should really give it a shot! They are sweetly satisfying and very well written. I almost wish I could spend some more time with them in another book, but the ending was perfection-you can't improve on this happily ever after.

Sweet Possession takes place 6 months after Sweet Addiction.
Reese and Dylan are one happy couple and about to get married in 10 days. And let me tell you these 10 days were probably the longest 10 days I've ever read about in a book.

Overall there was nothing wrong with this book. No OTT drama or misunderstandings.

But was this full length novel about their wedding and the days before necessary?

Unlike Brooke, who definitely needs her own book. She, Joey and their banter were the highlights for me.

Sweet Possession is basically about
- wedding stress

- a really hot & possessive Reese

- and lots of

Hardcore Reese and Dylan fans will probably enjoy this one more than me.

Just like its prequel, Sweet Possession by J. Daniels is full of steamy sex scenes. Obviously there is a story-line, but the sex drives the story, and not the other way around (which would have been my preferred way).

Comparatively speaking, it is definitely better than the first book in the sense that it has less of the stupid relationship drama. It is about the build up leading to the marriage of the two main characters in the story. But there is more to writing a good romance than an unlimited platter of sex. Even though I am not a fan of the genre, even I was left craving for some romance in between the never-ending steamy scenes.

Verdict: One time read.

HOLY HELL THAT WAS HOT!!!!

Just last month I decided on a whim to read a book I've had on my kindle for awhile (I'm not an ebook reader). I needed a good pick me up while I was sick in bed. I decided to go with a wedding hook-up story. And boy am I thankful for that decision! Sweet Addiction had me laughing my ass off from the witty banter between characters and the crude dialogue. The seriously steamy scenes had me blushing behind my hands. I will never look at an accountant again without thinking of Reese's filthy mouth. Nor will I ever look at a bucket of icing again without thinking of all the yummy, dirty things you can do with it. After I finished, I immediately knew I had to own everything J. Daniels had to offer in print. And in comes Sweet Possession....

I wasn't sure the story could get any better (or dirtier), but boy was I wrong! This book was even sexier than its predecessor. And that's saying something. This book was so good I could hardly set it down. It was the perfect balance of humor and romance. I love this entire group of friends. The dynamic is off the hook!

"Goddammit, Billy!" I think that is my favorite saying ever now! Billy really came through for Joey toward the end and it was one of the sweetest moments. I'm still holding out hope for a Joey book :) And I can't leave out that tear jerking EPILOGUE!! Its one of my favorite epilogues I've ever read. Reese and Dylan's story has come to an end and I can honestly say it was a great pleasure to read. These books/characters are ones that will stay in my mind for a long time to come. I can't wait to read the Alabama Summer series next and then see the worlds collide in Sweet Obsession!

5 Possessive Stars!

It’s been a few weeks and I’m still thinking about this couple. They have made my favorites list for 2014. The love that these two share is what romantic books are all about. I will definitely go back to re-read thee books.

Dylan and Reese are now planning their wedding. They have bachelor and bachelorette parties to have, over bearing mothers to deal with, crazy business partners to deal with and wedding cakes to bake. There are some unexpected surprises that Dylan and Juls have to deal with and an even better surprise for Joey.

If you haven’t read Sweet Addiction and Sweet Possession books by J. Daniels then you are missing out. The magnetic pull between Reese and Dylan should definitively pull you in. And then you also have the relationship of the best friends Juls and Joey. If you love sweet romances with HEAs then these books are for you.

Sequel to Sweet Addiction, the author could have easily ended the story of Dylan and Reese in the first book but I actually enjoyed reading more about them as a couple when all is said and done. They are planning a wedding together so their is obviously more drama to unfold and you get to know all the side characters a bit more in this book. I actually liked Reese even more after reading this book. He was the perfect blend of Alpha male protector to sweet, romantic lover. He was a bit of caveman and I liked it!

I don't think I'll ever be able to complete this re-read and I already know my final verdict on this after re-reading almost half of it.

5 Sweet Reese Stars!!!
ARC received for an honest review

Darn it! I just cried sweet tears again! Reese is DREAMY!

************

"How do you do that? How do you make me love you more than I ever dreamed possible?"

SWOON!!!

Get ready to have your heart melt, your feelings to combust, your eyes to well up and your cheeks to hurt because J. Daniels just wrote an insanely delightful happily ever after for our beloved couple, Dylan and Reese. I laughed, swooned, got hot and bothered, and cried. Yes, I cried but they are happy tears and I couldn't have felt more satisfied with Sweet Possession!

Reese Carroll and Dylan sparks are back one more time to grace us with their humor and sexiness. What happens after Reese proposed? How is the wedding preparation going? Are they getting cold feet? Are they more in love than they were the first months? What did they do for their bachelor and bachelorette parties? How was the wedding? Did they write their own vows? All these and more are what's in store for everyone who will read this book.

Not only did J. Daniels gave us our Dylan + Reese fix, she also gave us a peek into what has been happening to the rest of the gang, Ian + Juls and Billy + Joey. For me, Sweet Possession is not only Dylan and Reese's happily ever after but also their best friends'. It's bittersweet that this is the end, that their love story has come full circle and they friends got their HEAs too.

Reese didn't fail in making me laugh and squirm in my seat, he's still as sweet and as sexy as he was the first time I met him in Sweet Addiction, if not even more. Such an alpha man this dude is with a thoughtful thoughtful heart. I love how he is all alpha, bossy and filthy-mouthed and still a huge softy when it comes to Dylan. I did mention swoony, right?

Dylan is still the spunky, fun, and sexy woman who made our Reese fell in love and she still keeps Reese on his toes. There was never any boring moment with them. And I'm not just talking about them as characters in a book but as a complete fictional experience as a reader who reads their story. Sweet Possession is fun and such a wonderful follow-up and HEA for the Sweet Addiction characters!

Now, I will keep an eye out on any future J. Daniels book!

Stars: 5 stars!
Recommended to: Everyone with a sweet tooth!
POV: First person. Female POV w/ Male POV (epilogue).
EXTRA COMMENT: Maybe we still get to read more future Carroll family in a novella? ;)

Questo secondo volume, nonostante i giochi fossero già fatti, mi è piaciuto un pochino in più. L'ho trovato più coinvolgente.

RECENSIONE QUI: https://thereadingslove.blogspot.com/...

description

Content warnings in the book for emotional manipulation and abuse, sexual assault, and stalking.

I could honestly write this whole review in caps because I've been yelling at this book since about 20%. No joke.

Reese Carroll is a controlling son of a bitch. He doesn't *let* Dylan wear certain outfits. He gets angry when she wears something he doesn't like. In the epilogue he ADMITS to being more possessive since she got pregnant.

That's not possessive. That's a controlling, domineering asshole. I had one of those in my life, and I'm so, so disappointed read a character who acts this way. Especially one written so recently.

AND THEN, in case that's not enough, HE FUCKING BLAMES WHAT DYLAN WEARS FOR SOME OTHER GUY TOUCHING HER. NOPE. There's 0 excuses here. None. And he never apologizes, never tries to change or make amends or see how she was feeling. What does he do? He goes and gets plastered because he couldn't protect her. FUCKING NOPE. Do you know what my husband would do if someone touched me in a way I didn't want? He'd be next to me. Immediately. He'd make me feel better, safe, however that needed to happen. Then, and only once I was completely comfortable again, would he go kill the person. Because when you're married you put the other person's needs before your own.

Here's what happens: Dylan has been dealing with Bryce, creep from book 1. Turns out Reese has enterer into a business deal with Bryce for reasons we later learn, even though this makes Dylan extremely uncomfortable. Fast forward to the bachelorette party, and Bryce ends up at the same bar as Dylan and her friends. He buys Dylan a drink, she throws it in his face (this is deserved), says nasty words to him, and leaves. Here's issue 1: Dylan wore a dress Reese wouldn't approve of (wtf) so when she gets home, not only is he pissed about the dress, but the next day when he founds out Bryce saw her in it, he flips out and doesn't talk to her for hours.

At some point, Bryce places a rose on Dylan's van, and Dylan thinks it's from Reese.

Issue 2 comes about after Reese buys Dylan a car. She shows up in lingerie and a trench and has sex with Reese in his office. As she's leaving, Bryce meets her in the elevator, proceeds to pin her against a wall, and runs his finger down her neck. She knees him in the balls, drives back to her store (freaking out) and calls Reese. Reese literally says

"“...Don’t fucking yell at me because you, once again, decided to wear something that could draw you undesirable attention. You could’ve stripped all your clothes off once you got in my office, or waited until I fucking got home to pull that stunt.”"

wut.

As I said in my update, this is victim blaming. And then to top it off, he doesn't contact her the rest of the night and stumbles in drunk, waking up Dylan with the security alarm. As he stumbles in, he is a *sad drunk* and says some odd things (imo). The next day, they basically act like nothing happened because Reese is hung over and sick. Later, when they do talk about it, all Reese says is he's mad at himself because he didn't protect Dylan. Turns out he's working with Bryce because he was trying to catch him in an embezzlement scheme.

Then the night of their rehearsal dinner, Bryce once again corners Dylan and starts making out with and groping her. Honestly, I was worried about Reese's reaction. If he would have blamed her for that, I would have thrown my phone (bad choices, I know) and DNF. I was prepared for this reaction. However Reese does not do this; he pulls Bryce off Dylan and starts beating the shit out of him. Reese breaks his hand. He tells Dylan that now is the time to slap Bryce and she does (this was one of my issues with the first book), then the cops take Bryce away and we learn he's looking at 25 years for his crimes.

At no point does anyone check and see if Dylan is okay. They don't ask if she wants to press charges. Dylan tells the officers about the other incidents, including the rose, and apparently Reese didn't know about that because he looks angry when she mentions is AND SHE APOLOGIZES. No one comforts Dylan. No one asks what she needs. Instead, she just goes on with her normal plans like nothing happened. This did not seem realistic to me. Bryce became a villain and a convenient excuse for Reese's "possessiveness" which we can easily see is really a controlling nature.

I can't tell you how livid this book made me. This happens about halfway through, and it RUINS the rest of the book. And I'm a sucker for weddings and babies. But not here. I was so angry no one pointed out Reese's horrible behavior, so angry Dylan just forgave him and basically said she was sorry for the incident where SOMEONE ELSE TOUCHED HER. So angry I ended up hating this book. And idk if I can read anymore of Daniel's work, even though I want to see more of this series, because this was a huge turn off.

If you've read this far, thank you for coming to my TED talk.

This book was basically a very long epilogue to book 1. It was sweet and nice to see how the h & H end up but my only complaint was that the sex scenes were ridiculous. It was bad in book 1 but book 2 was just too much! No one has sex that much! The part that made me roll my eyes the most and deduct a star was when the H got horny while hungover and puking!! Puhleez! I like a good sex scene as much as the next person but ya gotta keep it real!! I'll still read book 3 eventually but I need a break from the constant banging uglies... There's more to a good romance than sex...
