Great debut fantasy romance with enemies to lovers, forced proximity, found family, and fated mates.

The FMC, Acacia, and the MMC, Roshan, were already happily married at the beginning of the book, but due to unfortunate events, Acacia found herself in another realm.

I loved the friendship development between Acacia and Lou, as well as the tension between Acacia and Elyott. The bond between Acacia and Roshan remained strong, and Roshan was determined to find his wife.

I’m intrigued by the relationship and love triangle between Acacia, Roshan, and Elyott, and I can’t wait to see what happens to them in the future.

Book: The Cursed Soul by Amarïe H

I absolutely enjoyed reading The Cursed Soul, a perfect book to get lost in!

"𝘚𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘢𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘭𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘥𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘤𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘧𝘭𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘢𝘴 𝘥𝘢𝘯𝘨𝘦𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘳𝘢𝘷𝘪𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘢𝘴 𝘸𝘰𝘭𝘧𝘴𝘣𝘢𝘯𝘦."

I had a great time with these characters, and I loved the friendship development between Lou and Acacia! Nothing beats finding your magical bestie!!

“𝘐 𝘥𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘰𝘶𝘤𝘩 𝘮𝘦 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯. 𝘛𝘳𝘺 𝘢𝘨𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘐'𝘭𝘭 𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘣𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶.”

I'm also very intrigued by the relationship between the three main characters and how they're connected. I adored the sweet side of Roshan and absolutely loved the dangerous side of Elyott.

“𝘐'𝘮 𝘢𝘭𝘸𝘢𝘺𝘴 𝘶𝘱 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘢 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘩𝘶𝘯𝘵. 𝘌𝘴𝘱𝘦𝘤𝘪𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘪𝘧 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘪𝘻𝘦 𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘯𝘥, 𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘵𝘭𝘦 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘤𝘩.”

This book has an interesting magical world with lots of dangers and interesting powers at play. The ending left me wanting for more!!

I want to thank the author Amarïe H. for sending me an eARC to read and review 🖤

The Cursed Soul pulled me in from the very first page and refused to let go. The tension, the heartache, and the sheer intensity of Acacia’s journey had me completely hooked. Torn between love, duty, and a destiny she never saw coming, her struggle felt raw and real. The emotional weight of her choices made every moment feel high-stakes, and I loved every second of it.

The worldbuilding was rich, the atmosphere darkly enchanting, and the enemies-to-lovers romance had just the right balance of angst and longing. The dynamic between Acacia, Roshan, and Elyott was so well-crafted—complicated, passionate, and utterly consuming. And the spice? 😮‍💨🔥🤌🏻The way fate twisted and turned throughout the story kept me on edge, and I was never quite sure what Acacia would choose.

If you’re looking for a dark fantasy romance filled with magic, forbidden desires, and impossible choices, this book is an absolute must-read. I cannot wait for the next book!

Acacia is a witch from a village with very powerful magic and is wed to the King, Roshan. She’s constantly fighting to control her magic while Roshan is constantly fighting to rule his kingdom with peace to try and heal the wounds from his mother’s rule. They are deeply and unconditionally in love but she still feels like a piece of her soul is still missing in this kingdom that doesn’t want to accept her as Queen.

Acacia finds herself forced into a cursed realm that nobody knew existed where she encounters a mysterious male with magic. They find themselves irresistibly drawn to each other despite her existing bond with Roshan.

Amongst the heartache and confusion there is also danger that approaches this cursed realm as well as Acacia’s home realm. Can Acacia make a choice to save both of these men or save herself? Will the 3 hearts and souls survive?

Read this ARC for Amarie’s debut novel and it felt quite slow going and quite confusing in the first 30% of the book. The prologue starts out really exciting and then just slows down. The plot eventually picks up and it starts getting interesting but I still sometimes struggled to work out what was actually going on. The revelations towards the end were quite surprising and despite feeling fairly lukewarm about this book I would still like to read the next one to find out what happens next.

this is the kind of book that will pull you in right from the very beginning and have you on the edge of your seat the whole time 🤩 im a sucker for the enemies to lovers trope so this was a very fun read for me 🥰

i never thought i would enjoy a why choose trope BUT this was a very spicy example of that 😍 i loved the characters & could relate to Acacia, the fmc, at some point, which is what i always look for in a book 🥺 overall a fun read & i cannot wait for the second book in this series!! 🖤

i would recommend if you like the following tropes;

enemies to lovers ~ found family ~ forced proximity ~ fated mates ~ cursed kingdom ~ love triangle/why choose

In this debut novel by Amarïe, we have our lovely FMC, Acacia, who is married to a wonderful King, Roshan. But enemies have other plans and Acacia is forced into another realm, where danger lurks around every corner, and a handsome cursed male won’t stop till he has her!

So I fell in love with Elyott! Love me a charming and flirty Shadow Daddy! I liked Roshan as well, especially how dedicated he is to finding Acacia. They seem to have a wonderful love based on a strong friendship. It’s beautiful. But I love the tension and build between Elyott and Acacia. The ending definitely had me reeling tho! Cannot wait to see what happens next!

I really enjoyed reading The Cursed Soul. It was different reading multiple povs in third person, but the book does hook you. I loved the plot twists and the spice!! Acacia, Elyott, and Roshan are great characters, and I love how different they are but still connect with one another. They love deeply and they are passionate. There is a DRAGON! The ending is a shocker! It ends with a cliffhanger, but it left me wanting more and leaving me with multiple questions. I look forward to reading the next book! ❤️

Had to DNF this one

I could not even get past the first chapter with this one. It seems like it had potential but the writing was awful. There was hardly any descriptors or at least a few hints or facts dropped that would draw you into the world. It just felt flat and I'm just not here for it.

I very much enjoyed this book from start to finish!

The world building was so interesting and well written. The journey the FMC takes is full of dangers and twist, and a shadow daddy won’t stop until she is his, but she is married to the king, she loves the king, so what will happen now. The plot was plotting and the twist we were given were fantastic! Overall it was great! The spice was nice, not too much or tacky. The multiple povs were easy to keep up with and i enjoyed each character so much! I would highly recommend this and as the authors debut novel, it was phenomenal!

Dark fantasy lovers!! This is a book for you!! This is the debut release from Amarïe H & it’s such a good read!! Her FMC, Acacia has to deal with so many challenges after unexpected events pull her in a direction, far from home & her love. And the introduction of a rather dark and dangerous stranger certainly begins to complicate matters!!

The story flows ever so well with lots of little twists to keep you wanting more! It’s deliciously spicy & there is some fun banter, particularly when Lou is around (I just love her!). The tension is also on point!! I love how Amarïe’s world building sets the scene & I’m incredibly excited for book 2!

FYI, there’s a bit of a cliffhanger!!! I wholeheartedly recommend this book though, so go give it a read!

3.25 - The things that impacted my rating are fully based on personal preference. I loved the storyline and concept, and really want to rate this higher. I struggled with the writing style… bouncing between more modern diction and more old world language just really frustrated me. The romance feels superficial and a little cliche to me. For me these two facets detracted from the storyline in several instances. HOWEVER - it ends on a cliffhanger and I will ABSOLUTELY be reading the next book!

Ohmygod. Oh. My. God. I used to read exclusively fantasy but fell into the vise-like grip of dark romance. Then I stumbled upon The Cursed Soul during a SYKD and decided to dip back into the genre…

I’m so glad I did! The world building is gradual, so while you may be a bit lost in the beginning (the author drops you right into the universe), you soon begin to piece things together and feel right at home.

The characters are all lovable and unique, and you quickly come think of each one as a friend. Speaking of friends, can we talk about Lou?! She is funny, loyal and supportive… She helps our fmc every step of the way, and asks for nothing in return! Everyone deserves a friend like Lou.

Speaking of the fmc, Acacia is strong and fierce, head-fast to a fault, and grows so much as a person during this first arc. I cannot WAIT to see how she continues to evolve in book two. She’s slowly learning who she is and what’s she’s capable of and it’s beautiful to see.

And the mmc’s, oh my! They are both dreamy in their own ways… You want romantic with a touch of stoicism? Roshan has you covered. Mysterious and domineering? Oh yeah, that’s Elyott. Caring, head over heels for their woman, with a beautiful soul to boot? You guessed it - both of them.

There’s magic, mystery, power plays and kingdoms to save. There’s dragons and witches and evil rulers. There’s betrayal and revenge and fated lovers. There’s humor and passion and hot, hot sex. There is everything a fantasy story needs, and so much more!

If you love fantasy, you’ll love The Cursed Soul. If you are curious about fantasy, The Cursed Soul is a great introduction to the genre. If you’re in a reading slump, The Cursed Soul will get you out of it.

Promise.

Now, please excuse me while I take 5-7 business days to get used to the fact that I have to wait for Annmarie to finish book 2 before I know what happens next…

Amarie was one of the first indie authors I was introduced to when I joined bookstagram, so I have watched her journey to publication and I am so grateful to have the honour of reading her book.

And what an AMAZING book at that! The storyline was so unique and full of twists and surprises - none of my predictions were accurate because I was always thrown for a loop! I loved the dynamic between Elyott and Acacia later in the book as they got closer but I also appreciate how much Acacia always thought of Roshan. I wish there was more moments between Elyott and Acacia together in the earlier stages of the book to have more set up for their relationship, but their bond was beautiful and I loved seeing Elyott more vulnerable.

I can’t wait to see more about Roshan in the next book - especially as the two MMC’s meet. But HOLY COW THAT ENDING?? Don’t mind me, just patiently waiting for book two

I want to thank @authoramarieh for this amazing collaboration and the opportunity given to me to read the Arc of "The Coursed Soul".
A story of Fate and soulmates connected by a prophecy and destiny. the Story of Acacia, a young and beautiful witch destined to something bigger, and to a unique bond with two different mates, something unexpected and at the same time incredible.
And then we have the two other mates of the bond, Roshan and Elliot, very different heroes, but the two complementary abd missing pieces of Acacia's soul.
An incredible adventure that all along the chapters make us discover the different pieces of a puzzle, understanding the misterious behaviours of strange creatures and the powerful and terrible threats to the love of Acacia for their two mates...

I really wanted to love this one more—it had a great concept and all the elements of a story I would normally be drawn to. However, the writing style, pacing, and characters just didn’t click for me.
The world had so much potential, but the simplicity of the writing didn’t allow it to fully come to life. I struggled to connect with the characters, as they lacked the depth needed to make their struggles and relationships feel meaningful. Without that emotional investment, the stakes never felt as high as they should have.
While this book might work well for readers who prefer a straightforward, fast-paced fantasy, I personally crave more depth in both storytelling and character development. Unfortunately, this one didn’t quite deliver what I was hoping for.

I had the opportunity to read an ARC for this lovely, debut author! 3.75⭐️, rounded up.

Prophecies are one of my all time favorite ways to kick off a fantasy book. The stage was really set here and I was gripped right from the start. I wish that we got a little bit more back story to start out, but as the story continued we were given pieces along the way.

I think the storyline here is really intriguing and I did not predict the major plot twists. Being completely transparent, I was a little disengaged in the middle of the story. As the reveals started coming in I could not put the book down! I will definitely be reading book two and can’t wait to see how Acacia figures this out.

Whilst I’m not a huge fan of third person writing, this is a captivating read that pulls you into a richly imagined world of dark magic, compelling characters, and intense twists. I loved the depth of the world-building—everything from the curses to the hidden secrets kept me hooked. The relationships, both romantic and platonic, felt raw and authentic. There were moments where I could've used a bit more depth in some side characters, but the plot twists and that jaw-dropping cliffhanger more than make up for it. Can't wait for the sequel!

This romantasy was packed full - it will keep the readers engaged from start to finish.

I enjoyed the blending of the enemies-to-lovers, love triangle, and why choose tropes. It was a great spin and allowed the FMC to have them both.

There is a level of complexity and readers will need to pay close attention to keep track of the different plot lines. Overall the feel of this book for me falls into the coming of power/age category and would be great for readers looking for spicier reads with the vibe.

“The Cursed Soul” by Amarïe H. is something I have never dared to read. Okay! It's my first time reading a love triangle to why choose trope and honestly, I'm seeing myself to read more books like this. This book was a whole lot of ride for me. From a peaceful beginning, the unexpected transition, and the landing into a new magical kingdom; everything is dreamy, and unbelievable.

The tale unfolds with eternal love of Acacia and Roshan, who couldn't love without eachother. But a conspiracy, separated them, and Acacia was thrown into a different realm. There begins the love triangle where one sees her as the world, while another can burn the world for her. The connection, the tension, the curses, the betrayals, the prophecy; everything were just wow!

The author just out-performed herself in this novel. The writing was almost cinematic, and the narration, I could see myself visualising every scene in different ways. There are curses, there's romance, and alongside the action, heartbreak, and the supreme, betrayal.

The book has got everything a fantasy reader wants, it has magical creatures, power hungry queens, curses, and prophecies. And I absolutely love reading this book despite being sceptical in the beginning. Why choose has become a good trope for me now!!!

Still not convinced??? We have got a dragon with an eerie feeling in
the house, all you need to do is run to the KU and grab the copy!

The Cursed Soul is a beautifully written fantasy romance filled with magic, mystery, and deep emotions. The story follows Roshan and Acacia, a married couple whose love is tested suddenly finds herself trapped in another world. What begins as a journey of confusion and longing slowly turns into a powerful tale of destiny, curses, and soul connections.

Amarie H weaves a world full of enchantment and emotional tension. Acacia's character shines through her strength, vulnerability, and determination, while Roshan's love and pain add ,depth to the story. The magical elements are balanced perfectly with romance, making it both heartwarming and intriguing.

The writing style is vivid, with emotions that linger long after you finish the last page. The twist connecting the main characters is both heartbreaking and beautiful, leaving readers believing in love that transcends time and worlds.

If you enjoy stories with witches, curses, soulmates, and emotional depth, The Cursed Soul will definitely captivate your heart.

🌙✨ Book Review: The Cursed Soul by Amarïe H. ✨🌙

🔥 “She was as wild and delicate as a flower but as dangerous and ravishing as wolfsbane.” 🔥

Acacia is everything fierce, untamed, and utterly captivating. Amarïe H. weaves a story that pulls you in from the first page, blending dark fantasy, romance, and power plays that leave you breathless.

Then there’s Roshan, dripping with dominance: “Don’t forget who your real master is! Can you be a good girl and do that for me?” 👀 And Elyott? Oh, he owns the word temptation: “I think you will be willing to accept a few orders from me, little chaos. It all depends on what I command you.” 🖤

The tension. The chemistry. The way Elyott makes you want to beg at his knees. 😏 This book owns me. If you love dark, seductive, and dangerously addictive reads this is it. 5/5 ⭐️🔥

The Cursed Soul is a dark fantasy romance that beautifully balances danger, magic, and emotion. The story follows Acacia, a witch pulled into a world bound by curses and secrets, where nothing is what it seems.

What stood out most for me was the atmosphere, moody, intense, and almost lyrical. You can feel the magic humming through every chapter, and the slow-burn tension between Acacia and Roshan keeps you turning pages. Their dynamic felt raw and believable, with moments that made me pause and reread.

Some parts moved a bit too quickly, especially in world-building, but the writing style and emotional undertone made up for it. I loved how the story blends destiny with choice how even in darkness, there’s a kind of beauty.

If you enjoy dark fantasy with romance, curses, and a touch of danger, this one’s definitely worth reading.

This is just the kind of immersive novel that will make you forget all about the outside world and have you happily flipping pages until the very last.

Our three main characters are each written to be devastating in their own way. This is a smoking hot example of the why choose trope, and I reckon there's probably a little bit of Acacia, Roshan or Elyott in each of us.

If the uncontrollable powers, epic battles, and strange creatures don't have you on the edge of your seat, you may need a kickstart!

With dynamic worldbuilding, truly wondrous characters, and an intricate multi-layered plot, Amarïe H has produced a stunning dark fantasy romance that just might be the debut romantasy of 2025.

This fantasy romance had me hooked right from the start. The world building and slow burn was addictive, and the emotional tension? Perfectly done.
Acacia and Roshan’s love felt so genuine. You can feel how deeply they’re connected even when they’re worlds apart. And then comes Elyott, the charming, dangerous male who adds a whole new layer of chaos and temptation. The love triangle or maybe why choose 👀 kept me completely invested.
I loved seeing Acacia grow stronger through every challenge, and her friendship with Lou was such a fun and comforting part of the story.
It ends on a cliffhanger, and now I need book two immediately. Amarïe’s debut is dark, emotional, and full of heart — definitely a must-read for fantasy romance lovers!

The prologue had me tearing up a bit. Acacia either has social anxiety or is just introverted like me. Some parts of the book reminded me of scenes from classic Barbie movies, which I loved.

Is it weird to say I prefer Elyott x Acacia over Roshan x Acacia? She’s insanely powerful and has both of them wrapped around her finger. I’m officially #TeamElyott.

Special shoutout to Lou for being the kind of friend everyone needs. The spice was a bit mild and felt a little rushed, but that cliffhanger? Absolutely shocking. I can't wait for book two.

Huge thanks to Amarïe for the ARC. This is my honest review.
