I have never in my life read a book that has brought out so many different emotions in me. Echoes is by far the best book I’ve ever had the pleasure of reading. As I sit here and write this review, all the emotions come flooding back to me. This story has honestly shaken me to the core to the point that I haven’t picked up another book since I turned the last page of Echoes. I know some of you may be reading this review to find out spoilers, but you will not find spoilers here. This is too good of a book to spoil for anyone. I want other readers to ride the emotional rollercoaster that I did and feel the pain of heart ache. My heart aches for these characters and their situations and that’s not something I want to take away from anyone else by spoiling it.

Ara’s life has never what you could classify as easy when it comes to the matters of her heart. She loved and lost so many times throughout the 5 books of this wonderful series that I cannot imagine living in her shoes for one second. She’s grown throughout the series from a teenage girl filled with angst and sorrow to a strong, independent young queen. Her decision to live for herself and no one else in the last book carries over beautifully into Echoes. With each page, her strength and resolve radiates. She’s finally become the Ara we all knew was hidden deep down inside of her.

David took a major step into the direction being an asshole in the last book. While I cannot blame him for his reaction to the shocking news, his cruelty to Ara nearly killed me. We’d get glimpses of the man we all fell in love with the first 3 books from time to time, but he remained a shell of his former self. Echoes truly explain David’s behavior. We find out the causes of why he treats Ara so badly. I began this book hating David so much because of his actions. However, I realized as we go on that his reasoning while justified weren’t as dark as they truly seem.

Compared to David, Jason has continued down the road of redemption from his horrendous actions in the first two books. He wants to use his abilities and knowledge to help Ara develop her powers. He knows that Ara’s gifts have something to do with the prophecy. Jason really shines for me in Echoes. His heart belongs to Ara and he’s willing to wait for her to make her decision about David and the future of her relationship with Jason. He’s patient and kind to David’s mistrusting and cruel. These two brothers can never be the same temperament. One is always yin to the others yang. Jason does surprise me a few times with his actions towards Ara. He proves to me that while he has a very dark and twisted past that he knows the difference between doing what’s right for him vs. what’s right for Ara’s future. I love Jason even more than I ever have because of Echoes.

Our other characters such as Mike, Arthur, and Falcon play such pivotal and surprising roles in this novel. Mike really surprises me with his decision. I know deep down he’ll always love Ara, but he knows that she’ll never love him more than a friend. Arthur’s secret rich past brings along some shocking twists when it comes key people of Ara’s life. Falcon also comes with his own set of shocking surprises as well. Without spoiling it for everyone, Ara gets the shock of a lifetime when it comes to her family.

To conclude my review, I can only simply say that I have never before in all my 28 years read a novel that has affected me this much. I’ve had book hangovers before, but this feels like I could never pick up another book again until I have finished Ara’s story in completion. There’s nothing else I could ever compare in greatness and emotions as Echoes. AM Hudson has stolen my heart and hidden it away until I know what Ara’s life will be like in the end.

Love. Hate. Secrets. Lies. Heartache. Sex. Loyalty. Betrayal. This book has it all. Echoes is an absolute epic first half of the ending to what is, in my opinion, the best paranormal series out there. I was given the special opportunity to read a free ARC of this book. (Thanks again AM Hudson!)

Our favorite characters continue their journey through a world of lies and confusion, slowly gaining ground and figuring out the right paths to take along the way. It seems everyone has a secret or two that eventually come out; each just as shocking as the last. We get a few different surprises from the Knights and even the unborn baby is keeping a secret of her own! Oh, and Arthur made me sigh heavily at one point ---> and I like Arthur.

Now, on to the main three that I know you're waiting dying to hear about:

Ara-Rose has grown up immensely since coming over to the states to live with her dad. We no longer see an over emotional teenager who stomps her foot at every issue. Now we see a very strong and independent woman in her place. A true Queen who is finally able to figure out her confusing heart. We discover some astonishing revelations about her family and learn some pretty exciting (okay, totally awesome) things about her powers as more questions are answered. I like Ara more in this book than the others because she finally stands up for herself in a way that we hadn't seen yet and she will fight with everything that she is for what her heart wants.

David, as we remember, was shattered with the news of his eternal love's betrayal (in Lies in Blood). During Echoes we not only see a man battling wars within his own heart, we see the monster living inside that we've been warned about. (And yeah, it's actually pretty scary.) The sting from his heart comes alive and leaves us questioning if there is any hope left at all for the vampire, for his broken heart, and for the love that was supposed to last forever. I've always been on "Team David"-since the very beginning. But I will admit that my feelings were crushed by some of his actions and words during this book. I was left wondering where my David went off to even though I could almost justify his reactions to being betrayed. I'm pretty sure my heart hurt just as bad as Ara's for David's pain. (Have I mentioned that I love David!? <3)

And last, but certainly not least, sweet Jason. He really steps up to the plate a little more in Echoes for me. His love and feelings for Ara are more than obvious as is the fact that he would do anything to keep a smile on her face, which is actually pretty romantic. He doesn't push her to figure out her heart and he's there to pick up the pieces when his brother acts out. Almost enough to make me wonder why I never jumped on the "Team Jason" train. Almost. Jase does admit something that, I think, needed to come out-something Ara needed to realize in order to figure out her heart. So kudos to him for that, even though it was extremely hard for him.

During this book, I went from being pissed, to happy, to sad, to hurt, to laughing, and back to pissed again to start the cycle over. Can bipolar disorder be brought on from reading a book? Haha, I'm kidding. But all-in-all I think it's safe to say that I was in a complete state of shock for one reason or another from beginning to end. No book has ever loaded on such hardcore feels and ripped them away just to replace them again like this one did. To even describe Echoes as Amazing is a huge understatement.

Now I will sit patiently, or, let's be honest, not so patiently, and wait for the second half, Silence, to be released. <3

Dark Secrets has been with me for two years now, and with Hudson winding down the series and preparing for the last book I have to say that this is a true swan song for me. Echoes has been clenching my heart since I finished reading it 4 weeks ago and part of me is dreading for the finality that Silence: Part Two of Echoes & Silence will bring when it's published. But I'll save the stress of that book, and focus on Echoes for now.

Echoes is the 5th book in the Dark Secrets series and is by far my favorite. Ever since I finished this book I've spent numerous hours hunched over my keyboard reliving this book, trying not to cry all over again and just struggling to find the words. It's also even harder to review a book without managing to spoil things! So I'll have to keep it simple.

Hudson never ceases to amaze me with her story-telling capabilities. Her characters have always leapt off the pages and felt like old friends to me, our relationship ever changing like they do in reality. I'm usually touting about the transformation that Ara has made in this series, but this time it was David that really sold it for me. I've struggled with his character the last few books, because his change hasn't been for the better. I've always said before that the love triangle in this book has been straight down the middle and no qualms for me. If I had to choose it would be Jason Knight every which way from Sunday, but this book has thrown serious doubt into my head. And that I suppose is what a great writer is supposed to do, they make you question things, see the good and the bad of the characters you love or don't love, and continually throw your mind for a loop!

There aren't enough good things I can say about this story, or the writing, or the characters. So I'll just say this.description

I love each book more that the last! Still trying to process it all. I'm kind of all over the place at the moment. I loved it, don't get me wrong, just need to get it all together in my head. Lots of emotional moments, and I swear the entire series is just poetic. AM Hudson's writing is like reading poetry, with this massive, intense, slightly twisted, mysteriously interwoven and heartbreaking story of life and an epic love triangle. So many twisted plots uncovered, and I know there's more to come, and so much more to happen still.
One scene in particular had to have been really hard to write, as I know it was heartbreaking to read. All those poor babies... ugh Heartbreaking. And with the truth coming out at the end about Ara and David's baby, and David and Jason- I kind of secretly hoped that's how it was, but now that it is and I see that 3rd option, with how things are now, I just don't know. I'm kind of torn. Not unhappy, because I can see the happy ending it would give, just torn on how to feel.

I received the free ARC of Echoes, it was an intense emotional ride. A M Hudson has done it again with her contentious
style of storytelling ,that pulls you in and spits you out leaving you an emotional mess. I have never come across a book that's so intense!! I felt every emotion(s) that each character went through. There were several times where I had to put my kindle down and just breath through intense emotion. I'm anxious now for the release of Silence, the wait is killing me!

David and Ara have fought tooth and nail to be together after being ripped apart so many times. Is all lost? Or is there hope? And is HOPE strong enough to fight fate? Take this journey with this young couple and let them tell you their EPIC love story

To A M Hudson: BRILLIANT work, keep them coming and I'll keep buying them. Thank you for giving me back my favorite genera. After the huge let down with Charlene Harris's TrueBlood Series I told myself I'll never again waste my time and money on another paranormal series. You brought that back to me, so again thank you.

I received a free ARC of this book. It was absolutely amazing!! The story picks up and leaves you begging to know what's going to happen next. The twists leave you shocked, the story is told so well that you feel the emotions of the characters! This book will make you laugh, bring you to tears, and leave you counting down the days until the next book is released!!! I was drawn into the story and found it hard to put it down. I absolutely recommend this book along with the rest in the Dark Secrets Series by A M Hudson. There is no doubt that this is a fabulous read!

This back and forth love with Ara and Mikedavidjase(anything with a male part basically) is hard to get around sometimes.
And David ugh David. He is a jerk even when he is not influenced or using his past as an excuse, still a jerk. Ara needs to Woman up and say No thank you to his dramatic and cruel ways before this baby is born.

"5" Chairs/Stars

I didn't even realize I could love AM Hudson even more than I already do! Echoes Part One was AMAZING. It captivated me from the very first page and held my attention to the last. Right out the gate I would LOVE TO PROCLAIM this is the BEST book yet!

I feel as though I should note that Echoes Part One brought me out of a 10 month reading hiatus. Yuppers, you heard correct. 10 months of complete book nothingness. See in all that time I decided to step back from my beloved book world and focus on what was going on in my "real" life. I focused all my attention on re-building my home life and with that meant individual sacrifices.

Blogging, reading, and reviews were put on the back shelf and after so much time away I forgot my way back to it. Until one morning I seen a posting from AM Hudson on my FB feed. Echoes was set to launch and for the first time in a long time I yearned for a book. I have read hundreds upon hundreds of books in the last few years but this book pulled me out of a self imposed "retirement".

See, for me writing a review should not be about re-telling you the story. Hell, if you want that read the synopsis and then read the book. In this review I wish to share with you my rating but also the gift Authors give us.

It goes without saying that sometimes as readers we lose touch with the whole love story of book reading. Meaning we read, we rate, and we move on. Along the way we forget that each book is a persons soul laid bare. Laid out among their pages. Instead of "spoiling" a book for others and moving on we should be explaining how it made us feel and then if we are lucky enough to find a sparkly gem, shout it from the rooftops about how much we LOVED IT! We have forgotten to "share" it.

It's a wonderful thing to tell a couple friends about such a book, but it's another thing to spend a few minutes to share with others on multiple outlets like B&N, Amazon, Goodreads, FB etc. This is the gift we can give back to amazing Authors.

If you somehow see this AM Hudson, I wish to thank you. Thank you for creating something that brought me back into the world I love and missed so much. For giving me an incredible journey with Ara & David.

I read on your FB that there was a time this past year you weren't sure if you could finish Part 2 and I would like to say...I hear you. I understand why you felt that way and I hope you continue to have faith. To waste your talent and throw up your hands would be such a disservice to yourself. Yourself first, not the reader. You have come all this way, and you should be damn proud of that. :-) Your books are incredible and I promise you all of it will be worth it.

To anyone that reads this review if you haven't heard of The Dark Secrets Series" I beg that you go and download Book one now! You won't regret it. AM Hudson takes you on an AMAZING journey and brings her world to you in the most extraordinary way! Links are down below.

Thank you again AM Hudson for reminding me of how much I love to read and to share. It means more than you will ever know. I cannot wait to read Part 2! I know it will be Incredible! xo

Echoes is the first book in the conclusion to the Dark Secrets series. It definitely does not disappoint. It has plenty of drama, action and so much more detail I found myself having to re-read sections to make sure I was understanding correctly. This series isn't one you fly through. It's not a "light" read with all it's detail. But it's worth every minute you spend with it. Up until the final 5% of the book, I had planned of rating it at 5 stars. But then something changed. I am going to go on and TRY to write this review as spoiler free as possible but give you a glimpse into why I knocked off a star.

When I started this series, early last year, I would classify it as YA Paranormal. I think that was actually how it was classified on here and in Amazon. As I made my way through the series, it got a little more of an "adult" feeling in Mark of Betrayel. But, Amara had grown up so I expected that. But I still thought it would be appropriate for young teenagers and up (14+).

Echoes was following the same pattern as the last two books as far as how adult the content was. There was one scene with David in his room and a few girls that maybe was a little more adult. But not too much detail was given so I still felt it wasn't off the charts inappropriate for anyone under 18. Then the last 5% of the book happened and lets just say.....it was very BDSM! I was shocked at what I was reading. It didn't really go with the overall feel of the series and I am not sure how I felt about it. That last 5% was NOT appropriate for ANYONE under 18. So I knocked a star off. I liked the old YA vibe of the book and I'm afraid I won't like this new vibe it has. But with all that being said I still loved the book and adore the series.

Amara has really grown up. She's strong and knows right from wrong. She seeks guidance when needed and doesn't take any shit. I love her and Jason's relationship so much and A.M. Hudson has done such an amazing job and taking a character you hated at one point and making you fall in love with him. On the flip side she does the same with David. I am at a crossroads with him. I don't love him like in the beginning, but I don't hate him like I did at the end of Lies in Blood.

Final thoughts: if you are looking for an amazing paranormal series with so much depth you will sink into the the book this is the perfect series for you. It takes everything you love about all other paranormal series and mixes them up and then adds it's own twists and turns. Just and incredible series overall.

4 Stars for Echoes: Part one of Echoes and Silence!

I don't even know what to fucking say!!!!!!!!!!

Look, if you are this far into the series, you know there may be some spoilers in this review.

First off, AMH love your work. You can spin a great story and and weave it with so many lies and mistruths and when I almost said screw it because of all the double talk it just clicked and all made sense. How do you do that?

Second, Jason........NOOOOOOOOOOO! He is the one! Not david, I never liked David even in the beginning. Jason acttacked her and lied, manipulated and tortured her, it was still always Jason for me. (Geez, what's that say about me?)

How can you just break my heart like this? It thawed a little for David in this book, but I don't wanna like him, dammit.

Sorry it's a little all over the place isn't it?

Also I am so glad her father isn't dead! He is a bit of an ass now but she is definetely gonna need his help before this is all over.

Now to the nitty gritty, let me see if I even got all this right:

Ara is queen vampire who is married to evil twin King David.

A love so consumming they often fight about who gets to save whom when bad shit happens. They are pregnaunt and according to some lies and contracts from hundreds of years ago her little Bump is gonna be souless and she will die when the baby is born. With me so far?

Well David is having none of that. He just got her back after forgiving her for sleeping with her twin brother and being released from a horrible spell that was torturing him for loving her.

So now they have to figure a way to save the baby and her without losing each other in the process.

I know right?

It's almost too much to deal with......Almost.

Can't wait for the last one.

Update 2022: I would suggest the author go back and re-work some of the scenes where characters who identify with the LGBTQ+ community are helping those who are close to them understand their love lives.

Another 4.5 star read for me. It's getting harder and harder to review these books as the more that happens I want to make sure that I do not spoil anything for anyone. I really enjoyed the conclusion to this one. There were several twists and turns some things I knew were finally coming but it wasn't a huge let down just a "finally this is confirmed" kind of thing.

I have no idea what is going to happen to Ara's baby, but I hope that it has nothing to do with anyone else having to lose their life so that she can live... I'm so glad that David was able to crawl out of that dark hole that he was in and that sexy loving boy that we all have grown to love found his way back to us in this book. This book had some heart and gut wrenching pieces to it and I was sitting there with my jaw dropped through several of them. I cannot wait for the next and final book, because I have to know what is going to happen and how it all ends. I truly believe that it will be an epic conclusion to this series.

You can also find chapter one of Silence the final book in the series on the Dark Secrets blog: http://www.darksecretsseries.com/blog
It goes without saying if you have not read this book chapter one will include MAJOR, MAJOR, spoilers so don't do it to yourself!!! :D

Spoilers! I am most certain that David does not deserve to live and take Jasons's soul/body or anything! In my mind he has not cared enough for his family, kingdom, Ara, or the baby......so he needs to STAND up and sacrifice himself. (THE EVIL ONE ...ALWAYS HAS ALWAYS BEEN)!!!! Hoping not to be Charlene Harris_ed again at end of the series...

Ara is high-key stressing me out with her indecision. Jason deserves something good, and I'm glad she sees that, but I would rather she just go for him. Maybe another better character will pop up for him. I feel kind of like when reading The Host: you want Jared and Ian to be happy, but it’s tricky with one and the same girl. It works out there, so I’m hopeful for Jason. Finally, Ara shows some perspective and has really started to grow up by this book, and I am here for it. She's definitely made developments, and I am interested to see how everything is tied up or continues considering there are so many books after this one. By the end, Ara does make the mature decision. I started to get a little angry when she planned to keep another secret, but I am so glad she told David. It's almost like if you tell people you love, things may be easier to fix, and I like how Ara extended that branch. I feel their relationship will progress much more smoothly with communication, and I hope that can help with what they must do.

Wow

So I've been out of reading for a few years, finally I decided to pick up and embrace again the peace that reading gives me. This particular series I left ant some point because is a really heavy read. This are difficult characters, sometimes difficult to love and other times difficult to read. Finally I pick it back up and fell in love a over the series again. Reread book 4 because I couldn't remember much of what was going on and really pick up then. I much say that everything that I used to hate about Ara (main character) is mostly gone. She has grown so much within book 4-5 and I still have like a trillion more to go through, since the 4 years I've stopped reading.

Thank you AM Hudson for such a great series, thanks for the twist and turns and for making this character such a great and strong woman in so many ways than one. If you havt heard about @darksecretsseries go and get your copy on Amazon! It's an excellent read and a pretty long one.

I'm back with team Dara again! I was relieved to know that David didn't purposely hate Ara so much that he couldn't forgive her. Oh, and it was so obvious that David was the impure and Jason was the good one from the way they both acted. Jason was just so sweet and caring. By the way, I agreed with the solution on their unborn child, but it was weird considering Ara slept with Jason before, and funny to imagine him as a girl. Anyway, I can't wait to read the next book and find out how it played out.

This book is everything and more,I literally have no words to express how it made me feel. It's only something you can describe to yourself, that's how brilliant this story was written.
It gave me so much and so much more, this author poured herself out in this book,I could feel it. The soul in the words and the story coming together was just so heartfelt and so real raw and emotional!
As I said words can not express my love for this fantastic written story ~

Wow.

A roller coaster of emotions. Ara and David keep fighting against everything to keep their love a live. My heart was broken for those poor kids that Drake kill in revenge for Morgan's his nice. David kill her because she cause a lot of pain, despair and separation between Ara and him. I can't stop reading this series it's the most amazing and complete history. It can make me laugh and suddenly I'm crying for them. Ready for the next book.

I Have read many, many books...non fiction and fiction, and in many genres. I started reading just as a child, and now I read up to 9 novels a week. Throughout my years, I have had my favorite authors, and A.M. Hudson is right there in my list of the best. Now I will tell you why:
A.M. Hudson tells the story right from her heart. She has a natural talent. You can see soul in the words. She is not afraid to tell it just how it is, and holds nothing back. The details are amazing, and in your minds eye, you can see the scene clearly. While reading her books, I feel as I am standing right there on the sideline watching it all unfold. Her stories also are classy, in that she can write a sensual adult scene, while not getting tacky as I have seen in many new books recently. She adds enough to build up the scene, and adds anticipation. Though it is truly a "vampire love story" it does not have glittery vampires that spew words of love that you really would not hear from a mortal man, much less a vampire...Although the words are often quite poetic. There is plenty of action, with details that I feel were very well researched. There are a few bits of gore and blood thrown in, that would classify it as a horror too, with a bit of magical fantasy. A.M. threads different genres together in her books, that fit very nicely together. I do not feel that the scenes are choppy or that there are so many things going on at once that your brain gets confused. Yes, there are unanswered questions, but there are many clues within Ms. Hudsons words. I reread the series and the second time around, I had many "Ah-Ha!" moments. What I find most talented is that bits of information, even little ones are thrown out, that may seem not all that important; Oh but they are! Later on in the series, you find that those bits and pieces are a part of a very large picture. I love that while writing those pieces, A.M. Hudson does not forget about them later. She explains them, sometimes bit by bit, but they are explained. I feel that no matter what the ending shall be, it will all fit very well together. I think that the characters will be just where they should be. In my opinion, A.M. Hudson makes her stories so real because they do come from her soul from many life experiences. Those of herself, those she knows and those she has wished to know. Dreams are in her writing, purpose and dedication. It is very worthy of five stars and if ever to go to television or motion picture, would leave and audience awe struck. I am very glad for reading the story of Ara and David...two souls who have fought and fought, but still neither give up. A.M. strength shines through this story, and is an inspiration to us all. I urge you to read this series, not only for entertainment, but for the morals and values, the compassion and strength, and yes even for the sins and the mistakes that we all that we all make in our lives.. Kudos to you A.M. Hudson, I am completely thrilled to leave this review and wish you many years of happiness and I look forward to your future adventures. :)
