In a sea of myth and malice, Melody and Enrick are mercenaries with their own ship and a crew that has become a family with ties closer than blood. They have become legends of their own time, as they meddle in the affairs of gods and kings. But their latest job will put their skills and their bonds to the ultimate test.
Harmony of Storms is the second entry of the action-packed Erdensong series. Adventure and friendship on the high-seas await.
J.B. Corvin is the pen name that Justin Bolton uses when he writes his fantasy stories.
He holds a great love in his heart for all things fantasy and sci-fi, whether it be books, movies or video games.
Whenever he isn’t writing, he’s more than likely reading, or playing TTRPGS with his daughter. Justin lives with his wife, daughters and cats in Louisiana.
I am truly impressed by this book. I loved Corvin’s first in the series, Chorus of Thieves, for it’s The Mummy Returns vibes (I mean this in the BEST way), found family, and relatable characters. Moving into Harmony of Storms, we continue along with Melody, Enrick, and crew on the high seas. But there’s something special in this one, something difficult to define and insistently craveable, creating a rewarding page-turning experience.
There’s sea serpents, swashbuckling, peril…but the soul of this book is found in the cast. Corvin has come into his own as a writer. When I say this, I by no means there is something lacking in Book 1, but that Book 2 absolutely delivers and delights. I far too often find second books relegated to bridges into third books. Harmony of Storms is not that in the slightest.
I kept finding myself sitting down to read a chapter and then reading several. The book is well-paced with good hooks pulling the reader from chapter to chapter. And the character arcs are the real treat. Corvin makes excellent use of the multiple POVs, emotions, and humor.
This series is quickly becoming a comfort read for me, especially a summer-vibes comfort read. I eagerly await more installments in the world of Erdensong and hope readers find this action-packed series.
This is another fun, action-packed read, just like book one. The FMC is strong, but not ridiculously so. In fact, all the characters have some sublte redeeming characteristics that make them very relatable and easy to cheer for. Lots of adventure in this instalment. More people need to discover this series and come along for the ride.
