If you don't Kristen Brown's work behind the glass capturing stunning vistas of life in surf, sand and sun, then you've simply been missing mountains of what is meaningful...long a fan of Kristen's brilliance [if not the beaches and the pura vida ethos tossed in for good measure], what i favor most of her first of many books to come [one hopes], is that each image seems like a slice in time that tells stories as if i were watching pieces of the film it was extricated from...with poignant long lens pointed at the Pura Vida life unfolding in Costa Rica, it takes me back to years in my gleefully troubled youth of yore when time stood seemingly still, and not a worry was in the world...this book is both calming as it evocative, and for that, a doff of the cap and broad smile is sent to Kristen on near every page turn!! So glad to have a signed copy now in my library, as I also look forward to the next one[s]!!

Sometimes you CAN judge a book by its cover, and this one is no exception. If you love looking at beautiful images of Costa Rica, you won’t find a better book on the planet than “Slice of Pura Vida-dice Costa Rica”. Kristen Brown has done an amazing job compiling her photography into a book that personifies the true feelings of nature and life primarily within the confines of the Nicoya peninsula.

Some places, like Tamarindo for example, feel commonplace to many of us who live here but Kristen’s photography has a way of taking the ordinary and transforming it into something extraordinary. The colors, textures, angles and lighting of her images are incredible.

If you’re looking for a coffee table book to memorialize a trip to Costa Rica’s Pacific coast or if you have a home down here that you rent out and want guests to experience the tropical beauty and majesty of this place, this is the one!!

I received my copy of Slice of Pura Vida-dise a few weeks ago and I am so happy every time I see it on my coffee table! If you want to be transported into the wilds of Costa Rica, this is the book to take you there. As a surfer, I've always wanted to bottle up the magical sunsets I see in Costa Rica but I'm usually out on my board and in the present moment. Kristen's book is a kaleidoscope of color and moods, and she does an excellent job highlighting the lesser known parts of the country. If you want that decorative piece for your living room, something uplifting to look at before bed, or a unique gift for a friend, this is a great buy.

Kristen has captured the pure essence of Costa Rica. Since 2012, my husband and I have visited this beautiful country five times and have fallen more in love with the various regions. Along the way, I discovered Kristen Brown's talented work and have ordered her prints. I was so excited to see she had captured all her most beautiful pieces in a book we could admire from home. She has done a fantastic job organizing her photos meaningfully, and allows you to truly experience the amazing views, whether of palm trees, sunsets, or sets of waves. With too many trips to Costa Rica to count, A Slice of Puravidadise was able to transport me right hack!
From the minute I opened the packaging and smelled “the beach” (what a great touch!), I’ve not been able to put this book down. I think I’ve gone cover-to-cover over ten times.
Beautiful presentation, beautiful photography, and a beautiful story about a city girl who landed right where she belongs.

Costa Rica is one of my favorite places on earth and Kristen absolutely kills the photography in this book. Flipping through the pages brings back all the great memories I have of surfing and walking the beaches in some of these spots. They a picture is worth a 1000 words and Kristen’s book brings back 1000 memories. This book embodies the Pura Vida life in CR.

The photographer captures the Pura Vida feel of being in Costa Rica with her carefully curated book of photographs.
