I’m a single mom trying to keep my head above water. He’s the one night stand I was never supposed to see again.

As a divorced parent of two teenagers and the manager of a bed and breakfast about to undergo a major renovation, I don’t have time for a relationship.

But when a charming, younger guy approaches me during a night out, I give in to the desire to relieve some stress and invite him home. After he agrees to this being a one time thing, he makes me see stars, and then I send him packing. The end.

Until he walks into my B&B as the project manager for the renovation.

And now I have no escape from his constant grin and annoying optimism. That capable, work-of-art body and those jeans he wears to perfection make it impossible to forget our incredible night together.

So I'm faced with an impossible maintain my boundaries around work and my family, or give in to the way he makes me feel when no one's looking. And that wink he gives me across the room? Let's just say my walls aren't the only thing in danger of coming down.

Thank you so much to the author Sophie Andrews for the complimentary copy of the book!

This book is out now!

Holy moly!! Move over Dylan Matthews a new bombshell has entered the villa and his name is Dante Moretti. I even had texted the author to let her know that Dante has become my favorite MMC of hers.

I feel like I say this with every new book Andrews releases but she gets better and better with each book. This one snuck up there to be one of my favorite book of hers.
I cannot pinpoint why I enjoyed this book so much but it likely is a mix of the banter, the spice, the swoon and just the overall story. Taryn meets Dante unexpectedly when she is out to dinner with friends and from the start they both were attracted to one another. Taryn is older and doesn’t see anything with Dante going further than this one time. But they both have another thing coming.

”I don’t want you to regret this in the morning.”
“I’m not going to regret this in the morning.”
“Good. Because I will never regret you.”

Dante, Dante, Dante. He is what you look for in a book boyfriend. He was such a sweetheart, worked his butt off and just adored Taryn and her kids. He knew she was apprehensive in continuing to see one another but between work and then moving into her rental unit there was just no escaping him. He used his charisma and his heart to win her over. I won’t spoil the ways the spoiled her but they were just so darn swoonworthy!

As much as I love Dante, Taryn was a stellar FMC. She was this bad ass inn manager and an amazing mom and sister. Her kids were always her first priority. There was a moment when momma bear came out and it was one of those where you fisted in the air at her actions. I liked how they both had their own things going on and yet they were able to lean on one another for support.

One thing I love with Andrews writing is how topical she includes certain themes. Like in this one the inclusion of Moretti’s employees being on ICE’s radar. I think its important to include topics like this in books because it is the reality we live in and it only helps make the book feel believable. Also there is a moment with Taryn’s son that I felt was very now. And Taryn handled it so beautifully and even Dante was a gem as well!

This is the second book in a series but you do not need to read the first one to understand the characters (but you should because its so enjoyable!).

If you are looking for a single mom, one night stand turned lover, cinnamon roll and workplace romance – give this one a read!

Well, this was just delightful. I’m a sucker for an older woman/younger man pairing and here, 42 yo divorced mom of 2 Taryn has enough on her plate so when 30 yo Dante, who is just as hot as his name implies, turns on the charm bc he’s a goner for her the second he lays eyes on her, she’s not having it. Except for just that one time to get it out of her system. And well, whaddya know, one time in the sheets turns to a regular kinda thing when Dante turns out to be the project manager in charge of renovating the B&B Taryn manages and then talks his way into the spare apartment above her house and THEN back into her bed. Watching him step up to be the caretaking nurturing partner for Taryn and a father figure for her kids when their bio dad is a real POS is really the greenest of flags. Also, this book is hot and makes judicious use of both “good girl” and “good boy” and truly that’s the new gold standard.

Content notes: MMC has two reading disabilities, his family is toxic and constantly shames him about his lack of an education or a wife, FMC has a toxic, emotionally and verbally abusive ex, dead parents, parental abandonment, on page motorcycle accident and hospitalization

This was a really great read. I loved the reverse grumpy sunshine aspect. Dante was a fantastic MMC and I loved the vulnerability that he showed. Taryn’s kids were also great and I loved their progression throughout the book as well.

Small town romance
Reverse age gap
Golden retriever MMC
Found family
Forced proximity

Lucy Rivers and Alexander Cendese were a great duo to portray Taryn and Dante! Lucy's voice really captivated Taryn's strong personality and Alexander with the dirty talk - lord save me!!

Dante & Taryn, Griff’s sister. This is a reverse age-gap, grumpy-sunshine romance.
Taryn has been through some stuff and has built huge walls and a strict persona. Dante is the definition of a cinnamon roll, an absolute happy-go-lucky guy that made me smile a lot while reading the book. There’s no way you can’t fall in love with him.
As always with Sophie’s books, I like that we get a glimpse of real life struggles the MCs face. I like that not everyone is perfect. That it took some time to develop feelings. I like that the FMC is a 40y old woman. That not everything has to end with a wedding and a baby.

I think I would have liked some answers to a couple of open issues, like with Jake or Dante’s family for example.
But I really enjoyed this book and I’m looking forward to Ian’s story.

Overall: 4.25/5 ⭐️ for me.

This is book #9 of Sophie’s and every one was 4-5 stars for me. But this is not it for me. DNF 24%. Because I’ve had a great history with this author I’m going to not rate.

The dialogue was so horrific I just couldn’t do it. I feel the opposite of chemistry. I really dislike the fmc. She is written so awful so far. I really wanted to delve into the relationship of the mmc and his father- that really intrigued me. I have a feeling this character is really going to have a glow up- so I came back a day later to see if I could continue and made it one chapter.

I enjoyed this book more than I have enjoyed any book in a while. It was the perfect combo for me- age gap where she’s older, single parent, golden retriever male mc, tough-I-can-do-it-myself lady with a reluctant soft spot for the sweet man who just wants to love her and treat her well. It hit all the right buttons for me and was sweet, spicy, and had great emotion and good character development.

Inn manager and divorced mother of teenagers Taryn is out for drinks on her 42nd birthday with her bestie and her bestie’s wife when she’s approached by the most ridiculous - and ridiculously charming and gorgeous - young man who won’t back down from a challenge or her prickly nature. After her bestie’s wife assures her this Adonis who’s a dozen years her junior is a Legit Great Guy, she accepts a ride home from him, and he proceeds to rock her world before she unceremoniously kicks him out, believing they’ve got no other business with each other.

Thirty year old Dante is painfully used to being underestimated by almost everyone in his orbit, but when he meets the challenging Taryn, he knows he’s found the woman he’s meant to be with. When she ghosts him after a night of bliss, he knows fate is on his side when he shows up at her place of work as the foreman in charge of the inn’s renovations.

When the third floor apartment she owns becomes vacant? He knows he’s the perfect tenant for her. Falling in love with her son and daughter as well as Taryn is just the cherry on top. Taryn, however, has an ex husband who spent nearly the entirely of their marriage grinding her self esteem into dust. Will she push Dante away even as he’s trying to convince her he’s all in? Or will she be brave enough to take a chance on an unexpected and slightly unconventional partnership?

Dante is sexy and fiercely protective, he knows exactly what he wants with Taryn, and his unwavering commitment to her and the kids is beautiful and so much fun to read. The sexy times are smoking hot, and as ever, Sophie Andrews’ writing is entertaining, heartfelt, and a joy to experience.

I was generously provided an advance reader copy from the author, and I’m very pleased to share my honest review.

Rating: 4.5⭐
Spice: 3🌶️
FMC: Taryn Stone
MMC: Dante Moretti

Dante is such a gentleman, he was so sweet for Taryn and the kids, too. You could tell he was head over heels after just spending a little bit of time with her.

I didn’t mind the age gap trope in this one. I’m mostly not the biggest fan, definitely if the age difference is above 8+ years, but this time, it just fitted so well. Dante and Taryn were definitely made for each other.

Dante really validated Taryn and showed up whenever she needed someone, while Taryn also made sure Dante knew his worth and what he was capable of. Their connection and love was so strong, and even when Taryn tried to stay away from Dante, the fireworks flew around when they were in the room together.

I really enjoyed the storyline, not only about their connection and love growing, but also the family issues and the struggles they were facing. The story really kept me hooked, and I flew through it.

I was really excited for this book and was very happy to receive an ARC copy. Thank you Sophie Andrews 💕 Now i’m extra excited for ‘Right Next Door’ after reading a few teasers. Ian already intrigued me in ‘Under One Roof’ and I can’t wait to read his story.

’I roll onto my side, and we lie together for a long time, her head on my bicep, my fingers stroking her side. We don’t speak because we don’t need to, but I know I’ll do whatever it takes to make sure Taryn knows that she’s loved, that she’s cherished, that she’s mine. Forever.’

I like how this author writes middle aged women with a normal body and healthy (and real) sex life. The protagonist is 42 in premenopausal with two young kids and falls for a 30 year old. It was so sweet to see her self sabotage out of fear and him being ok with waiting her out and giving her time to understand he wasn’t afraid … it was perfect. This books was so real a few times and yet so surreal. Because Dante is exactly how a man should be but because more often than not man are more like Craig (the asshole ex husband) it feels unreal to read about a man doing the minimum because that’s what this is. The fact that Dante knew Taryn needed more moisturizer than a twenty something year old or when he lift her out or made sure she had what she needed is the bare minimum. But unfortunately he felt like out of this world.

Mannnnnnnnnn Dante completely stole my heart!

his golden retriever energy had me smiling the whole time. He reminded me so much of my own man—pure sunshine, endlessly patient, and just so loveable. I’m a sucker for a good reverse grumpy/sunshine dynamic, and his warmth paired with Taryn’s tough, guarded exterior was absolute perfection.

What really melted me, though, was how sweet and genuine his bond was with her two kids. He didn’t just fall for Taryn—he showed up for her whole little family in the most thoughtful ways.

The second in this series is even better than the first, and the first was wonderful, so you're in for a treat. While I do recommend reading in order, so spoilers don't occur, you could begin here, and go back to Griffin and Andi's story later, if you choose.

Taryn and Dante have a fun connection that she actively fights against. I mean, how can you say no to a nice, hard working, handsome, engaging guy who just wants to please you, and make your life better? But Taryn certainly tries! I loved the way Dante knows what a treasure Taryn is, and does his best to show he he means to stay as a positive force in her life. The reverse age gap and her "black cat" to his "golden retriever" kept me smiling and engaged in the storyline from beginning to end. (Where can I find a Dante? I've got a renovation project to discuss. Asking for a friend... hahaha.)

This author allowed me to easily connect with the characters, and the situations that formed them. I appreciated the friend group, found family feels, and the steamy connection between the couple. Just so good!! All in all, an easy to enjoy book that I recommend you read.

Fortunate to receive an ARC (thank you) I happily leave my thoughts. I cannot wait for the next one in this series.

Loved it.!
This is the second book in the Stone Family series and sister Taryn Stone's romance.
Taryn is a 40 something divorced mum with 2 children, she is not looking for love but it finds her instead.
Dante Moretti is the ultimate Cinnamon roll of a man he is single,a contruction worker for his families buisness. He literally sees Taryn across a room and is smitten, she is with her 2 friends who just so happens to be Dante's friends too.Which is the perfect opening for him to go over and talk to them.Taryn just brushes of his flirting at first but does give in and when he takes her home she invites him in and they experience a passionate night together.
But Taryn just sees it as a one night stand and is hoping to forget about the night and Dante, but fate has other ideas.
Because she discovers that Dante is the project manager to the construction on the B+B she manages, she is about to see her one night stand every day.
I have to applaud Dante because no matter how much Taryn pushes him away,Dante remains persistent he knows what he wants and that is Taryn and her children in his life.
This book is so real as Taryn has insecurities like all of us 40 plus woman going through the perimenopause has.She worries about the age gap between her and Dante, he is younger over 10 years younger and she is obviously afraid to get hurt. She can't believe that someone like Dante young, fit and gorgeous could possibly want her,as she is not as perky, slim or agile as she once was.
Yet Dante adores her even when she is being mean to him,he even wins over her 2 children they love him.
Both Taryn and Dante have family troubles Dante with his father and brothers they don't appreciate him and Dante never feels good enough..Taryn actually gives Dante the courage to stand up to his dad.
Taryn is having problems with her Ex Husband and the way he treats his own children, its a stressful situation..Dante is there for Taryn through it all...Yet Taryn is still sceptical about Dante's affections.
What will it take for Taryn to realise that she can still be loved even after 40 and to let someone into her heart again.?..Her Ex Husband really treated her badly.
This is a wonderful story and I loved Dante I wish I could find my own Dante..He loves unapologetically and his love is of the purest kind.He sees past all the hang ups us women have about ourselves and our bodies and loves the parts of ourselves we hate.He is THE PERFECT Man..!!
Taryn is so independent and strong after having her independence and freedom taken away by her Ex husband..She vows she would never rely on a man again, even when that man is her ideal man.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book by Sophie Andrews and I can't wait for brother Ian's story in book 3.
Just This Once is a romantic and steamy story with a little bit of angst and a sprinkle of emotion..and I really enjoyed it.
Excellent 5 Stars.

I guarantee you that Dante Moretti will be your next book boyfriend! This book is definitely a stand alone BUT our FMC is Taryn Stone and she is Griffin Stone’s sister from book 1 of the Stone Family series (𝘜𝘯𝘥𝘦𝘳 𝘖𝘯𝘦 𝘙𝘰𝘰𝘧) and you really must meet him and Andi. Immediately.

But right now, let’s talk Dante Moretti. He’s the Project Manager of his family’s construction business. Dante describes his family as “the Corleones but with less murder.” While his brothers went off to college, Dante learned everything about the business on the job. His father and brothers show him no respect, his father is even verbally abusive, but Dante knows he’s good at his job. And he deserves better.

One night he meets Taryn and immediately is totally into her. She wants no part of the young, handsome man. He’s way too young. She’s too jaded about men after her divorce. She’s all work. Has two kids. But. . . she finally agrees to one night. It’s her birthday after all. One night. And Taryn emphasizes to Dante that it is “just this once” but Dante isn’t about to give up. Then, he finds himself as Project Manager for the renovation of the Bed and Breakfast Hotel she manages and well she kinda becomes his boss. Let the banter begin full force. And can Taryn really resist the guy who rocked her world? Sure he’s young and she’s divorced with two kids but . . . he builds her things!

Poor Taryn. She’s a goner. “I never expected to fall for anyone. Let alone a giant golden retriever of a man. Yet, here I am, tripping over my heart.”

I fell in love with Dante immediately. You will too. He deserves so much better than his awful father and ridiculous brothers. And Taryn. Her ex is the worst. So glad she left that disgusting human. Her kids deserve better. So does Taryn. Enter . . . every green flag you can imagine in one Dante Moretti. And when Taryn gives in to the attraction, admits how much she wants Dante, holy wow! They burn up the pages! Whew.

This story of Taryn and Dante, both the complexities of single motherhood and the “feeling less than” due to his father’s constant criticism while also struggling with his reading challenges, is so beautifully written that I smiled a lot and had tears at other times. I loved these characters, rooted for Taryn to see what Dante could offer her and applauded Dante and all his protective, loving, wonderful care toward Taryn and her kids. He definitely made her realize her worth. And she saw him as a man wanting to be loved. To be chosen. And Taryn finally relents. As scared as she is, she chooses him.

“I know loving Taryn and those two kids is what I was put on this earth for, and I will do my damnedest to show it to them every day.” Oh Dante. I know you will.

I can’t recommend this book enough. Do not hesitate. It’s brilliant.

On her 42nd birthday, Taryn, a divorced mother of teens and inn manager, is having drinks with her closest friend and her friend's wife when she is approached by a remarkably handsome and charismatic young man who isn't intimidated by her sharp demeanor. She agrees to a ride home from her best friend's spouse after he promises her that this Adonis, who is twelve years younger than her, is genuinely a Great Guy. He subsequently astounds her, and she swiftly ejects him as she believes they have no further dealings.

Dante Moretti serves as the project manager for his family's construction business. "The Corleones, but with fewer killings," is how Dante describes his family. Dante learned all facets of the business while his brothers attended college. Dante knows he excels at his work, yet his father and brothers treat him with disrespect, and his father even verbally mistreats him. And he deserves something greater.

Taryn intentionally resists the pleasurable connection she shares with Dante. How could you turn down a considerate, hardworking, compelling, and charming man who simply wants to enhance your life and gain your favor? Nevertheless, Taryn puts in the effort! I appreciated Dante's recognition of Taryn's worth and his commitment to remaining a positive force in her life. The age gap flipped and the difference between her "black cat" and his "golden retriever" kept me amused and engaged with the story all the way through.

The happiness arises from witnessing Dante instantly realize she's "the one" and then make a strong effort to prove his worth extends beyond just one night. Dante exemplifies that worth comes from genuine intentions and actions, and he is certainly more than just a golden retriever, despite what his family tells him and about him. Both he and Taryn have issues to confront, and a strong relationship relies on their mutual support.

The way Sophie writes just speaks to me. The things this woman can make you feel with the written word are truly miraculous. I always think I am going to slowly enjoy her books, but I end up devouring them in one sitting because they are that good. I loved book one and getting to have grumpy Captain Stone be the focal point, but let me tell you, Dante Moretti is a whole different league. Move over, book boyfriends, because this man is taking the cake. He's perfect, and the mouth on that boy will have you screaming. The way he takes care of everyone he loves, not out of obligation but out of genuine caring, had me in tears. He refuses to be scared away by Taryn's rough exterior because he knows she's been hurt and deserves better. This age gap was so freaking hot! Usually I'm reading the MMC being the older one, but I think I may now want this reversal all the time. Taryn broke my heart. She's mean because she has had to put up her armor for so long, and then when this young guy comes into her life, she can't quite handle those walls she built coming crumbling down. Dante fell in love with her and her kids, and be prepared for waterworks. I cried so many times in this book because I felt all those emotions.
Okay, on to my favorite part of spice, and that was toe-curling, scream-into-a-pillow hot. I loved that the FMC was older and everything looked a little different, but that did not deter our man. He was crawling, begging, and finishing in his pants at the sight of his lady coming undone.
Another spectacular book! Sophie is an auto-buy author for me, and every book she writes blows me away! You have to read about the Stone family!

I think everyone has their last favorite tropes. In my case, it's reverse age gap 🙈 Before you get me wrong here... I love every trope. I really don't have any I don't read at all. It's just that a list always has favorites and ends with the last favorites 😎 And so reverse age gap is down at the bottom end.
And then, most of the time, when I read this trope, I'll love the book 😁 OK, I mostly read them written by one of my favorite authors, so they can rarely do something wrong 🤣 But rarely doesn't mean it's impossible, so...

Here we are now. Reverse age gap. A woman very close to my age 😖 I just love to imagine I'm still in my 20th. And now there is Taryn, 42, single mom, and in her pre-menopause 🙈, and Dante, the hot 30-year-old construction worker/manager she has a one-night stand with...
Dante is VERY persistent 🤣 But he's not just that. He is the complete opposite of Taryn's ex-husband. He cares about her AND her kids 🩷

There are a lot of scenes about family distinctions. Not just Taryn's marriage. But also the past with her dad. And also in Dante's family. His mom is the typical Italian mom 😁 But his dad... 🤬 And still Dante is such a wonderful man 🥰 Could I fall for him? If I were younger, definitely. Now? Not sure, maybe 😎 Just because he is so young 🙈 Please don't punish me. He is really hot and everything. Who am I kidding, he is way too persistent, yes, I would fall for him 🤣

There is a huge hint about the MCs of the next book, and I'm already excited 🤩 Yes, sorry Dante, but you will get a huge competition 😎

Thanks to the author for trusting me with an ARC 🩷

“You are wildly talented and smart and so interesting that I look forward to what new fact I can learn about you every day. I’m sorry for whatever has happened in your past, but you have to know. You are more than a mother or an artist or a badass businesswoman - you are fucking remarkable. Truly.”

There’s a reason that Sophie Andrews has become an auto-read author for me, and it’s stories just like this one. Sophie has a way of writing characters that feel real and three dimensional. She makes all different types of people feel welcome by including them in her books.

“When I’m with her, nothing else matters. Nothing but her and me and this ever-growing fire between us. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, that’s what they told us in church. And that’s what I am. Ashes without Taryn.”

I have been dying for Taryn’s book since reading Under One Roof, and Just This Once did not disappoint. Taryn is a fierce, single mother that is slowly finding her way back to doing things for herself after her divorce. Dante is a young man who is tired of always feeling like he falls short in his family’s eyes. From the moment they first interact, you can feel the chemistry between these two. Don’t even get me started on the intimate scenes; soo good. Even when Taryn tries to resist what is brewing between them, the two of them fiercely protect each other. I loved the way they stick up for each other & don’t let the other see themselves as less than they are. The family they build is beautiful.

“It’s not a line. I want you, no one else. Is that so hard to believe? You’re the one I think about first thing in the morning. The one I want to talk to all day long. The one I wish was waiting for me when I get home. It’s you, Taryn. Only you.”

If you’re a contemporary romance reader that has been sleeping on Sophie Andrews, what are you waiting on? Run to read her books. They’ll have you swooning, fanning yourself, and crying all the happy tears.

🔨💋ARC Review💋🔨

Thank you Sophie Andrews for this ARC Copy of Just this Once!
I loved Under One Roof (Book 1) so much I didn’t think it could be topped, but Just This Once has beaten out Under One Roof!
I read this in a day! I just needed to finish it and see how these MCs made everything work, and they totally did!

I love that there was NO time jump, that it stayed in the same timeline, that these to MCs ran into each other a week after their one night stand. (Which was perfect BTW)

The way that every single detail of this book came back around full circle, that everything had a point, there was no excessive overload of information. Everything meant something and IT WAS PERFECT!

Don’t even get me started on Tortellini and Frankie 🤣 IYKYK

The was that Dante (MMC) fit perfectly into Taryn (FMC) lives and how he got along beautifully with her kids, and stuck up for not only Taryn but also her children was super special.

How Dante didn’t let Taryn shy away from the possibility of what they could be because she thought that she wasn’t enough for him (mainly because she is 12 years older than him).

Dante is the ULTIMATE book boyfriend, I am a smidge obsessed and I am excited for book 3, with more look-ins with the characters from both books!
Tropes:
🔨He was her One Night Stand (but he wants more)

💋He is her contractor
🔨Reverse Age Gap (12years)
💋Forced Proximity
🔨He falls first
💋They stick up for each other

"Who would've thought just this once would turn into for always?"

This was a solid 4.5 stars from me.

This book is an age gap where she is 12 years older. Tayrn is 42 and going thru peri-menopause, has 2 teenage kids, and has become a bit of a grouch. Dante is 30 and has fallen hopelessly in love with Taryn at first sight. He is sunshine and golden retriever energy. He is the definition of if he wanted to he would. I love how the relationship grew into a friendship, and they became a team. The spice was hot. Dante was fun and brought out a playful and more confident side to Tayrn. There was a crawl to me moment, and a few good boy and good girls. The kids were great. I love how they each got to bond with Dante in their own way. I also love Clara and Marianne. Those ladies are the true matchmakers of the town.

There are a few questions still lingering... What happened to the driver that hit Dante? Did Jake ever talk to Taryn or Dante about his situation? What is up with Roman? We get little glimpses, I hope he's coming home in the next book. Speaking of the next book, Ian...whoo, I am excited about this.

This series(2 books so far) has been great quick reads. I enjoyed the banter and the family. I am excited for more to come.

I received this book as an ARC, but the review is completely independent and reflects my genuine opinion

Sophie Andrews really knows how to take classic tropes, flip them on their heads, and make them feel brand new. Just This Once gives us the perfect storm: age gap, grumpy sunshine, and workplace romance—but with a twist. She’s the older one. She’s the grump. And yes, she’s his boss.

The magic is in how quickly Dante figures out Taryn is the one—and how hard he works to prove he’s not just a fling. Despite the judgment he faces, he shows that love is about showing up with intention and heart. He’s sweet, sincere, and more than just your typical golden retriever-type hero (though he definitely has those lovable qualities, too).😍

What makes this story shine is how both characters bring their own emotional baggage—and still choose to show up for each other. That’s the real heart of a good romance.

If you’re in the mood for something uplifting with a side of believable family drama, this one definitely deserves a spot on your TBR.

Just this Once by Sophie Andrews...The author gave me an ARC copy of this book after I read the first book, Under One Roof. I had to read the rest of the Stone siblings.

"I'm a single mother trying to keep my head above water. He's the one-night stand I was never supposed to see again."

Italian middle son Dante is the project manager for the renovations at The Nest, the B&B where Tayrn serves as manager. They have chemistry off the charts since meeting weeks earlier, when they had a one-night stand. I loved Dante right away because he was honest with how he felt and what he wanted from her, and I have to say, I loved that he called her Duchess. I like that nickname now lol.

There were many moments where I wanted to scream at Dante's family in this book, and then moments that Tayrn got on my nerves, but I loved this book nonetheless. It had its slow parts and fast scenes, but it also came with love, loyalty, and honesty.

I'm eager for the next book in the Stone family series... Will it be Ian's or Roman's story? I am excited for Ian and his story, but I am also intrigued by Roman, as we have had only minimal contact with him now, two books in.

Thank you, Sophie, for the opportunity to read your story.

I have melted. My heart and soul are in a puddle. Because Dante Moretti is the most perfect Golden Retriever man ever put on the pages of a book.

He’s the sunshine to her grump. The cocky smirk to her steadfast denial.

I don’t think I’ve ever rooted so hard for a man to win the girl over and to not give up on her. But me cheering from the sidelines would make no difference because Dante was a man on a mission.

And then there’s Taryn; the grump and all business woman - not because she wants to be that, but because it’s necessary to protect her heart and her kids. She’s so independent, strong, and self reliant - and can hardly believe that someone might want to do things for her or lift some of her burden.

Which makes watching Taryn fall a little more in love with Dante every day over his small acts of kindness towards her and others that much more endearing.

As a whole, I adored this book. The content was relevant to today’s happenings, but in a way that fit seamlessly into the story, anchoring it in a way you can imagine the events unfolding in your neighborhood versus reading a generalized story.

Taryn & Dante

A reverse age gap story where the MMC is absolutely besotted by the FMC, yes please!

When people mention golden retriever energy I will now forever think of Dante, he was a happy, cheerful and positively beautiful hunk of a man who was a complete simp for Taryn. He was gone for her the second he saw her

Taryn, with all her black cat energy, fought the connection with Dante so badly but he never gave up and slowly broke down her sky high walls.

I love how real and raw Taryn’s feelings and insecurities were, hello bodies after having kids 😅 but the spice was still hot as f**k and we love that Dante loved her and showed her how it’s meant to be.

They both shed their vulnerabilities with each other and it was truly great to read!

Bonus points for Dante, that man the way he was with the kids, his maturity, the way he was with Taryn, ahh just so good. My favourite line of his was ‘don’t mistake my kindness for weakness’ he put everyone first but wasn’t going to be walked over! 👏🏻👏🏻

I loved this reverse age gap story with a female main character who is over 40. It’s nice to see a lead character who is struggling with being a single mother (but doing a great job with her kids!), dealing with perimenopause, and having the insecurities most women of a certain age have. Especially when a hot, younger man shows interest. Taryn worries that she’s too old for Dante, that she has too much baggage. She won’t let herself hope for something more, especially when she’s been burned already by her ex-husband. Dante sees Taryn and instantly is drawn to her seemingly confident manner. He sees her as beautiful and confident, and he won’t let Taryn convince him otherwise. They’re thrown together because Dante is working on the remodel of the Inn she runs. Eventually Dante wears her down and convinces her to give him a chance. Taryn helps give him the courage to stand up to his father and show how talented and hard-working he is, even without a college degree. The interactions with Taryn and her brothers are fun as well, giving a peak into their lives, and possibly what’s coming next for a certain grumpy big brother!

I am such a sucker for a man whose love language is acts of service and Dante is a prime example. As soon as he laid eyes on Taryn, he was a goner. The banter between them was fun and flirty. Dante was the definition of that clip of Nick from New Girl when he asks the lady to quit being mean to him or else he is going to fall in love with her. Dante absolutely loved how grouchy Taryn was and it was the cutest thing to watch him fall deeper in love with her the more she tried to fight and ignore what was going on between them. And the way Dante stepped in to be there for not just Taryn, but her children as well. It was heartwarming to see him meet Jake and Maddie on their levels and express genuine interest in their likes and hobbies. I think my most favorite thing, though, was how both Dante and Taryn were there for one another. Dante providing Taryn with a safe space to be herself and not have to carry everything on her shoulders; and then Taryn standing up for Dante and praising him for all the amazing things he does. This was such a sweet read that had me tearing up at the end with how touching everything was.
