I traveled twenty-two years into the past to change the future — to stop the nightmare threatening Earth. I founded the Syndicate, which has now grown into the world’s most powerful organization.
But recently, another group has risen to challenge us — the Clowns. They didn't exist in my previous life. The Clowns are mysterious, powerful, and dangerous—especially their leader, Lady Black. I can sense that she’s hiding something.
Could she have traveled back in time, like me? And now Lady Black has asked to meet personally. So, perhaps, I’ll finally uncover her secret.
The MC suffers from several disastrous setbacks he has to deal with. The reader learns more about the real enemies and about the world building. The organisation of the clowns stays mysterious.
Criticism and comments
I was no fan of the first person perspective and the constantly forced Lily/Bumsy plot is annoying me. The amount of important side characters around the MC got quite overwhelming by now making it hard to remember them from earlier books.
The teleportation of an entire star system to another galaxy without drastic consequences is outrageous an totally unnecessary for the plot!
The enemy assassins seemed unrealistically op, much stronger than the MC's powerlevelled team.
I received a review copy of this book. The One Who Changes the Future is book 4 in this series, and it has been a while since I'd read book 3, so it tidn't all click right away. Despite that, the story turned out to be a good one. We get a lot more background on the various worlds, (both ours and the one inside the pyramid). Find some new enemies (friends), and manage to thwart some attacks (but not others) on various factions. It all makes for some interesting, if not exactly linear, reading.
I just finished my arc for this particular book and I must say this is probably the best time regression series that I have read. and I think this because everything he does changes the future. which keeps things interesting and fresh. the editing was extremely good on this one. I think I only found a couple of mistakes. I look forward to book five. I just need to know what happens next.
