A Manga for the RuriSquad

Oreimo: Kuroneko is a spin-off manga of the character of the same name Kuroneko and is basically the first OVA of the anime. With Ruri Gokou attending high school with Kyosuke Kosaka and Kirino leaves to study aboard. It's different enough from the Anime Specials to be it own thing with the writing of Kuroneko being on point, plus the extra stuff like the manga pitch that wasn't apart of the anime special. I loved Oreimo from the Anime seasons 1 and most of season 2 (you know what sucked in season 2). So reading the best girl story arc with what I'm being told is a new ending that fixes the disastrous ending. I can't recommend this enough. My only complaint is I thought originally this spin-off was entirely post Oreimo ending. It's not it's an adaptation during the original story but entirely from kuroneko perspective like the first OVA from the anime but includes all the cut content and shows more of Kuroneko emotions. Definitely worth a read for fan favorite and best girl's story Ruri Gokou

Kirino has gone abroad, so the new series is centered around Kuroneko, who is Kirino's friend. Kyousuke is still around and is still a good person. Kuroneko wants to do work in manga or anime and Kyousuke wants to help her now that she is in his school. The story is clear and the art gets the job done.

This is, like The Disappearance of Nagato Yuki-chan, an alternate universe retelling of a popular light novel series in which the main girl is shuffled off-stage so the more popular female character has a chance with the male lead. Considering the main girl in the original series is the protagonist's sister, this version of events is a welcome change for anyone with good change.

Unfortunately the execution doesn't work. Like Nagato Yuki-chan, Kuroneko's personality gets a makeover here, turning her from cool (if not outride cold) and eccentric into a blushing moe-blob who can't accomplish anything without the protagonist, who, like Kyon in Nagato Yuki-chan, has lost most traces of personality. Unlike Nagato Yuki-chan, however, the author offers no explanation for these changes. We're just presented with an alternate universe that's exactly like OreImo, except Kirino has moved to the US and the remaining characters have been neutered.

Great stuff for Oreimo fans! For brand-new readers, it might be a little confusing, and a lot of the nuances and details may get lost, but ideally it will just make the curious want to read the other Oreimo manga volumes or perhaps give the anime a try.

I'm generally pretty apathetic towards Oreimo, but...I love Kuroneko, so I had to pick this up

Yeah, no the sexualization of little girls and incest will never be defendable.
