Emmy Moore is a 15-year-old girl who is about to have a summer like no other.
Emmy's grandmother is a witch who has just had "the talk" with Emmy. The time is coming for Emmy to inherit her powers, and those of generations before her. She then meets Alicia, who is "like her" but also very different.
Emmy and Alicia embark on an exploration of spells and power, but Alicia has a few secrets, and her own, dark agenda.
The two girls build their coven in a small West Texas town. They meet in the woods and hold ceremonies that Alicia seems to know the most about, but one of their new friends, Moncerrat, has secrets as well.
Alicia reveals that she has found a gateway to ancient souls, souls like them who have crossed centuries to find them, to bond with them, to bring them unbelievable power. And they understand what Alicia infused with power will mean as they join forces to stop her.
Mark A. Daniel is a writer of the supernatural thriller genre including the recent release "Crossroads".
Taking the advice of his third-grade teacher to “pursue writing of some kind as a career,” he promptly wrote his first book From Six Feet to Two Inches. It was about 10 pages long. He never looked back.
He has since completed eight novels and two short story collections. Black Mass, Resurrection, The Gifted, Burial Grounds and The Threshold are available today, as are the short stories in Razor’s Edge 1 and Razor’s Edge 2.
Mark lives and writes on a small ranch in rural West Texas, accompanied by his wife of 30 years, a few dogs, several cats, and a varying number of chickens.
Mark A. Daniel has once again crafted an unforgettable work with Resolution: Emmy’s Story. This gripping finale to the Black Mass series delivers everything fans could desire-emotional depth, engaging character development, and a richly imagined world that pulls you in from the very first page.
If you’ve already enjoyed Black Mass and Resurrection, you’ll love how Resolution masterfully ties up key storylines. The pacing is intense, with every twist heightening the suspense and making the book nearly impossible to set aside. The challenges are immense, and the emotional depth is striking, drawing readers deeply into the characters’ lives in a profoundly meaningful way.
Daniel’s ability to create complex, relatable characters shines in this installment. Emmy’s journey is particularly powerful, balancing strength, vulnerability, and growth in a way that leaves a lasting impression. You’ll find yourself emotionally invested in her story, as well as the fates of the supporting cast.
This is one of those rare books that stays with you long after you’ve turned the last page. Highly recommended!
I thoroughly enjoyed this novel, the third in the Black Mass series. I loved how this novel continued the saga and also wrapped everything up. I enjoyed the new and old characters immensely. Great story line, great characters and descriptions. I liked how the story is told from multiple characters points of view. This novel as the others by this author had me hooked from the first chapter, not wanting to put the book down till I was finished Mark's novels have just the right amount of current day mixed with spiritual occurrences. If you haven't read his books, I'd recommend picking one up. Looking forward to what comes next! Thank you to Mark A. Daniel for this novel.
I loved the tribute to Timothy at the end of the book, warmed my heart
Book 3 of the Black Mass series does not disappoint. There are a cast of characters that first appear in his previous books, Black Mass, The Gifted and The Threshold who come together for a common purpose. Will they succeed or will evil be unleashed upon the world? The characters are very well developed and the story itself is a exciting combination of witchcraft and the supernatural which holds your attention from page one until the exciting conclusion. Emmy's Story is a beautifully written finale to the Black Mass series.
Emmy is a young girl just trying to make it through highschool when her life gets turned upside down by Alicia. Are Alicia's intentions good or evil?
This is book 3 in this series and can be read as a standalone! I enjoyed going on this journey even with no prior knowledge. I have not read the other 2 books in the series, but now that I'm done with this one I plan to! The characters were well written and the pace kept me engaged through the whole story! Definitely give it a read!
I received am advanced copy of this book, which is part 3 of a trilogy but written to be able to stand on its own. The author was specifically looking for readers who had not read the first 2, in order to decide whether he should allow ARC readers who had not read the first 2.
I was hooked from the beginning. I went in blind, and only looked up descriptions for Black Mass (#1) and Resurrection (#2) once I was a few chapters on, as I wanted to see how Emmy's story fit into the big picture.
Emmy's story is told in 3rd person POV, and obviously focuses on Emmy, a contemporary witch who has not yet come into her full power, guided by her grandmother, as she meets Alicia, another Sister. The story was fast paced but still detailed, and I felt as if I was there seeing the story happen.
This book definitely can be read as a stand-alone, while it alludes to earlier events I did not feel as if I was missing out on any important information. However, I am eager to go back and read the other 2 books now!
“Resolution, Emmy’s Story” by Mark A. Daniel does an impressive job of concluding the series while still leaving a door open for future possibilities. It’s a thrilling conclusion that brings satisfying closure to the characters and storylines, but it also maintains a sense of anticipation, suggesting that there’s more to explore in this universe. The character development is particularly strong, a complex world with rich characters.
The pacing is fast, and the tension is palpable. Daniel’s ability to draw you in is exceptional; once you start reading, it’s hard to put the book down. There’s a sense of urgency that matches the stakes of the story, which keeps you hooked at every turn. The emotional depth and intensity are also evident, making this a truly immersive experience. It’s amazing how a well-developed story can make you feel so connected to the characters! When you’re emotionally invested like that, it really shows how deep the author’s work has resonated with you.
As for the Black Mass series and Gifted, they are indeed fantastic works of art. Whether you're a longtime fan or new to the series, it’s a great read that leaves you wondering if there might be more to come—something that only adds to its allure.
This is book 3 in The Black Mass trilogy. I was asked by the author to read this prior to reading the first 2 books to see if it can be a standalone. I was apprehensive as I am a stickler for reading books in order. I absolutely loved this book!
This paranormal thriller had me glued to my chair and I read it cover to cover in one sitting. Resolution: Emmy's Story takes place decades after the other books and so the main characters have become secondary characters and you don't need an extensive backstory to follow the plot of this book.
An excellent conclusion to the entire series. Although a finale to the three part series of the book Black Mass, this book ties all the ends together (Black Mass, The Threshold, The Gifted). The story follows Julie and Dean's granddaughter Emmy, who is supposed to meet a new "friend" of hers, who is also supposed to be "like" her. The new friend Alicia is in no way a nice person and has plans of her own. How everyone, including Julie and Dean (from Black Mass), Dave (from The Threshold) and Timothy (from The Gifted) get involved into this plan is what the book is about.
The book can be read as a standalone (saying this as someone who has not read two books out of the three mentioned above). The elements of suspense mixed with supernatural and magic is a wonderful concoction to a nice finale. The author did a fine job in executing the plot of the book. Looking forward to the remaining two books now!!
Another amazing read by Mark A Daniel! I inhaled this book amd I couldn't put it down. Emmy is spending her summer with her grandmother's friends granddaughter Alicia. What Emmy doesn't know is that Alicia is about to turn her life upside down. I highly recommend if you're into books about cults/witches. It was creepy, fast paced and beautifully written. If you do decide to read this one, start with Black Mass!!
This was a great ending to the Black Mass story! I love Emmy and Julie. I feel like this did a great job wrapping things up and laying the groundwork for more stories.
It's been great living in the world that this author created. I'm so glad that he's decided to continue it!
