Welcome to the Devil’s Den, a Texas strip club where the air is heavy with desire . . . and sometimes dreams come true.

Ever since her mother kicked her out, twenty-year-old Robyn Gonzalez has been working the poles at the Devil’s Den, saving up to finish college and travel the world. With only her wits and her gorgeous body to rely on, Robyn has learned to be independent—fiercely independent. She’s never been tempted to let a man distract her from her dreams . . . until she meets the dead-sexy Garrick Dempsey.

The club’s new head of security, Garrick had walked away from a career as a mechanical engineer to return to his roots in Corpus Christi. He hadn’t planned on getting to know someone like Robyn, with her sinfully sweet combination of vulnerability and strength, at the Devil’s Den. She acts tough, but only because she’s been hurt. Soon Garrick knows he will do anything to win Robyn’s trust. And if that means surrendering to the red-hot chemistry between them, all the better.

Robyn’s life was never a fairy tale, but things took a turn for the worse when she was kicked out of her house days before her fifteen birthday. From then she has been fighting to survive, continue on with her education and make a life for herself. After years of barely getting by she begins stripping at The Den. She hates her job, but she hates starving and being homeless more. This job allows her to go to school full-time, avoid homeless and starvation.

One night everything changes for Robyn. She interrupts a potential crime and is chased by the criminal right into the arms of Garrick. Garrick is a great guy and has everything going for him, he is wealthy, educated and attractive…this list goes on. The best part is he is interested in Robyn. Garrick saves Robyn and they spend a little bit of time getting to know each other before they part.

Thinking she will never see Garrick again Robyn goes about her day to day life, until one night he shows up at The Den. Garrick shows up at the strip club for research purposes since he will begin working there in a few weeks. From here the two begin a relationship and it gets pretty messy. Despite their feelings and attraction it seems there is always something there preventing them from just being together.

In my opinion this story was pretty unbelievable. Now I am a reader and I never expect my stories to be too believable, I am reading fiction after all. However, I had difficulty buying into the fact that a MIT graduate who was an engineer for BP is now doing security at a strip club. I get that he wants to stay home, but it seems to me someone with his education and resources could find a different job. There were other parts of the story that didn’t necessarily seem believable, but I don’t want to spoil the book or rant.

In the end, this book plenty of steamy moments and I did really like Garrick. I felt like he had the best of intentions and wanted to fix/care for Robyn.

This was my face for the entire length of this book...

description

I honestly haven't read a more confusing book and I'm not saying that in a good way but more in a badly written sort of way. The entire book was very weirdly written and it felt like every time the author took a break and then restarted writing she would forget what she wrote before and contradict herself or write things that didn't make sense.

For example (and this is not related to what I've written before...it's just an observation):

description

Yes I am!!!

Not to mention the fact that I had ZERO connection with the characters and I was very disappointed in this book because the blurb made it seam very interesting (What can I say? I'm a sucker for stripers :P) but to hole experience was dreadful. It's like when you get a candy that says it's strawberry on the wrapper (I love strawberry :D) but you discover when you eat it that it actually banana (I hate banana flavour candy) because they got the wrapping all wrong...what a disappointment :(

description

But I have to say I'm very proud of myself for the fact that I was able to finish this book when all I've wanted to do was press the delete button on my Kindle.

Robyn didn't have the best childhood. She was kicked out by her mother and had to make her own way at a young age. Having to grow up far too fast, Robyn has become a strong, independent woman. But underneath the strength is a vulnerable girl scared to love. She strips in order to put herself through school and to provide for herself.

One night Robyn is at the wrong place at the wrong time and runs into trouble with a local drug dealer. Garrick comes to her rescue and becomes her hero in more ways than one. Once Garrick see's his "little bird," he's hooked and he won't let her get away.

"You're the closest thing to heaven I've ever seen"

This was an amazing story. I loved Garrick and he was a really complex character in a way. He's a MIT grad giving up a good job to work at a strip club as head of security - crazy, right? His character was perfect for Robyn and I loved their relationship. He's very protective of her but I loved how he wasn't the usual asshole jealous type when it comes to his girl being a stripper.

Overall, I loved this book and can't wait to read more from this series. The reason for a 4 star rating was because I felt some things could have been brought up a little more. Robyn's school was only really mentioned in passing and it wasn't discussed a lot. It was said that she was stripping mainly to put herself through school so I just feel that the actual schooling could have been more prominent in the story.

Oh, one more thing. I wanted to bitch slap Garrick's sister, Gretchen.

Although I am not typically drawn to the New Adult sub-genre of romance, I was intrigued by Violetta Rand's premise of a romance series set in a Texas strip club. I've read this author's Viking romances and have been impressed with the strength of her writing especially in regard to her male characters. This strength is magnified ten fold when she applies it in a contemporary setting.

Her story is predictably angsty (as NA readers all expect and love) but her vivid world building and uber-alpha, but still believable male heroes, set her apart. The story is sexually charged from the start, and scorching hot, with a romance that develops organically between the worldly yet vulnerable heroine, and the man who has appointed himself as her guardian and protector (whether she think she needs him or not).

If you are looking for a compelling, page-turning, and super sexy NA read, The Devil's Den series is a great place to start.

4.5 LITTLE-BIRD STARS!
"You're the closest thing to heaven I've ever seen."
After years of living through hell, what do you do when you meet The One who can save you? Do you allow yourself to be saved? Or will you run away and shut all the doors to your heart?
I don't like games, and I don't share. Once I decide to go after what I like, I'm all in.
Robyn meets Garrick thanks to a dangerous drug dealer and he quickly becomes the hero of the night. The attraction is instant for both of them despite the unfortunate circumstances; Robyn leaves after a heated kiss expecting to never see him again.
To her surprise, there he is, at the Devil's Den a few days later. This time, Garrick's not letting her go so easily. He's determined to figure her out and as a result, he starts to fall for her.

On the other hand, after being kicked out by her mom at the age of fifteen, Robyn has gone through things a teenager should not have to. She is scared of opening her heart to anyone and everyone; it'll make her unnecessarily vulnerable and she can't afford that if she wants to survive. Dancing three nights a week at the Devil's Den, she is one of the crown jewels at the club. The men that watch her dance are drunk and despicable so when they try to sneak a touch, they get what they deserve--a punch or two. Due to the countless men coming onto her, she isn't too fond of them. She is hesitant to trust Garrick even if he is different. He's unlike the men she's met and whenever she's with him, she's safe.
I don't know if he's a godsend or a devil. Somehow it doesn't' matter right now. I feel safe with him. I can't explain it.

When Robyn finally gives into her feelings for Garrick, the person who brought them together threatens to tear them apart. Will their love be strong enough to endure everything?

Robyn was kicked fucking ass!! She was honestly great--strong and independent, who needs men these days? Pshhhh, definitely not Robyn. Until Garrick of course. ;) He is the usual hot alpha male that makes me sad that men like him aren't real..

I've always had a weakness for books with strippers... I don't know why, maybe it's because of my interest in poledancing. *cough*
The plot was good, predictable but still good. It messed with my feels throughout the entire book, especially the end. UGH!!! Made me want to cry because it was such a touching story. *tearing internally*

HEA?

Robyn Gonzalez is struggling, working as a stripper and somehow manages to run afoul of a local Mexican cartel drug dealer. While running from him (literally), she falls at the feet of Garrick Dempsey, and well, romance happens.

The Good, The Bad and Everything In Between

Leave logic at the door: Sometimes you want a well written romance with great characterizations, filled with emotional scenes and amazing dialogue. And then there’s times when you want a book like Surrender - guilty pleasure, pure melodrama...basically, a telenovela.

Here, Robyn’s a virgin stripper by night, college student by day (actually working on a double major of history and archeology) meets an huge, good looking, hot MIT-educated mechanical engineer turned head of security for the strip club she works for. They fall in insta-lust then love while dealing with jealous fits about co-workers and grabby customers.

description

Just typing that made my eyes roll and it was silly but I’ll admit there are some good bits mixed in with the insanity. There's a bit too much telling me how the characters feel instead of showing for my taste, really. If you’re willing to go along for the ride. Or not. Anyway...

Garrick’s an alpha, natch: Garrick had a successful career working for BP, came from a loving family and his turn working at the club really doesn’t make a lick of sense except for, well you know drama! He’s protective and mostly understanding, but I really didn't get his motivation for most of the story. He was perfect for Robyn.

Robyn’s a contradiction: Robyn says all the right things - she wants to be independent, communication is key, she is smart. Unfortunately, her actions just scream TSTL. She’s the top stripper, but she takes off in the middle of shifts and punches customers who get handsy. She wants to be with Garrick, but she self-sabotages all the time. She runs from their actual talks and she rushes headlong into dangerous situations under the guise of taking care of herself. And she swoons. She’s not my kind of heroine and I side-eyed her. Alot.

Now mix it all with a dash of WTF-ery: the constant danger, the drug dealer, all those bits and more were just the crazy sprinkles on top of this melodrama.

The Bottom Line (2.5 stars)
It’s a telenovela in book form. There’s a decided lack of logic, a whole lot of drama, and it all resolves itself neatly at the end with a big ole bow. I’m still not sure how I feel about it, and I’d give it a very qualified recommendation for those with a high tolerance for melodrama. It may be your cuppa or not, but don’t say I didn’t warn ya.

I just don't get this book. I'm DNFing around the 35% mark.

- What is the plot or the conflict or the point of this book?? Why do Robyn and Garrick fall for each other? I really have no idea.

- This book does not flow. The point of view changes between Robyn and Garrick so much I never knew whose head I was in.

- Robyn is apparently an Archaeology/History major but I literally can not picture her in college for that. At all. Very unconvincing. She wants to go to the middle east for excavations. Oh. Okay. I just can't picture it.

- Garrick went to MIT for mechanical engineering, graduated early and now works security at a strip club. Huh?

- Robyn got kicked out of her house at the age of 15 - but also mentioned her mother made her join an abstinence club at her high school - maybe it happened when she is a freshman before she gets kicked out...but I don't know. Robyn is a virgin too. Of course she is.

- Garrick makes remarks about Robyn that skeeved me out. Like she doesn't eat red meat but he has some protein he could put in her mouth. *weeps* - he internally comments on her body in weird ways. I think he was supposed to come across super alpha and protective but instead he creeped me out.

- And finally - Robyn is a stripper - she has been for years. When I read this paragraph - I was PUT OFF. Who is this girl to say these things.

Robyn goes to work on a Monday night (not her normal night)

There are strict division lines in this business. Day-shift girls versus night-shift girls and Monday/Tuesday girls versus the-rest-of-the-week girls. I qualify for the latter category in both cases.

I've never socialized with the women in the dressing room. I catch a string of fuck you looks as I undress and choose a costume for my first set. I sneak peeks at them. There are two pregnant girls (showing) and a dancer who I swear qualifies for social security benefits. I don't judge, but I wonder. Seriously wonder why the owner isn't more tasteful about the women he hire. I remember hearing about a hot club in Houston. The kind of place where girls dance of baby grand pianos, not Chevys. Coming up with a unique marketing scheme is hard in a business that showcases flesh, but this club did. Their billboards around town read One hundred hot women and one ugly one. It worked. That ugly woman made thousands of dollars a week because she was a great conversationalist. Brilliant.

But Robyn isn't judging. Ugh.

DNF @ 30%

Not sure what it is about this that just didn't hold my attention, it was a rather choppy ride up to the point I stopped. The characters didn't grab me enough to want to know what happens to them next, yes I stayed on until their first time together just to see if the tone and mood changed in the book but it didn't. Robyn didn't like what she did, but did it because she had no choice, so nothing about the club or her was sexy. Garrick was a fisherman by hobby, ex engineer who is now head of security at the club, that saves her life and takes a liking to our little starlet. Sadly this wasn't a story for me, but pick it up and give it a try :)

3 - "Texas Boys do it right." Stars.

Whilst I liked Surrender I didn’t love it. Garrick and Robyn had an interesting dynamic and I liked the parts of the book when they were together and dealing with their issues in order to build a relationship. Garrick is dominant, possessive and has a definite way with words and actions. Robyn although working in an environment that belies one thing, is actually pretty much the opposite of all the expectations you would have for a woman in her situation, those aspects together made me keep reading. What I found detracted from that were all the side plots and random characters that were thrown at the story.

”I’m glad you’ve found me.”

There were a couple of tropes that carried enough weight to them, that should have been explored more, rather than having lots of little things added, for me it just made the story all sorts of scrappy, jumping from this, to that, then to something else, but never really offering the level of depth I was looking for.

The writing style is easy to immerse yourself in and I did like the story, plenty (if not too much) of drama, interesting sexy-times and dual POV, I just think it could have done with a little more focus, and less of a cut & dried ending.

Surrender is the first book in the Devil’s Den series, its successor Seduction is due, mid-March. This is my first book by this author, and although I am uncertain as to whether I will read any more books from this series, I would be interested to read something with a different setting, tropes and characters by Violetta Rand in the future.

Robyn is not your typical heroine. She's strong, determined, and underneath it all - vulnerable. Garrick is a good man, exhibiting everything I love in my alpha's, but still confident enough to show Robyn his tender side. Their chemistry is electric, and the two create a sexy introduction to the Devil's Den series.

What I loved most about this book is the rawness of it. The author describes an authentic Texas - this is not the highly stylized version that one finds on old episodes of Dallas. The author also brings to life the fictional Devil's Den, a strip club that is as important to the story as the hero and heroine. The Devil's Den reminds me of Merlotte's or Penny Royal Greene in its ability to become the third character in the novel - a place full of interesting characters that adds to the overall dynamic.

Wow this is a really great gripping read. I literally had to sit up until the early hours to finish it. From the start I was on the edge of my seat reading this book.

Robyn Gonzalezs mum threw her out when she was fifteen. Alone she struggles but manages to work as a stripper at night to get herself through college. I really like Robyn as she's a strong independent woman. Fate brings Garrick into her life. Then a few days later she finds out he's the new head of security at her work. Garrick is a hot and sexy alpha male. Even his name is hot. While Robyn is afraid to let anyone get close to her Garrick is determined to get to know her and break those walls down.

This has a great storyline. If your looking for an emotionally charged story with suspense and lots of hot steamy scenes then I highly recommend this story.

**JOSIE'S REVIEW**

*4.5 Stars*

Wow, what an emotional, suspenseful and steamy read! Once I read the first chapter which was emotionally charged I could not put down the book. The author brings the story of Robyn Gonzalez, who at the age of 15 was kicked out of her house by her mother. Literally at the age of 15 her mother gives her a box of garbage bags for her clothes and tells her she doesn’t like her. I knew from that moment this book was going to be an emotional read. I loved how the author gives readers a story of a young woman who despite her age is taking care of herself and going to school alone. Buckle up and get ready for a ride through the strip clubs on the Texas strip because it was one hell of a ride.

Robyn meets Garrick after going to the pier. She goes there after she works at the strip club to find peace. This is where Garrick rescues her from the hands of a drug dealer. Garrick and Robyn are instantly attracted to one another and after a steamy kiss Robyn walks away expecting she’ll never see him again. Fate is funny because days later Garrick shows up at the Devils Den. He has accepted a job as a Bouncer at the Devils Den and he is determined to make Robyn his.

“I don’t play games. I don’t share. I don’t cheat. And I don’t do anything half-ass. I’m going to kiss you now, Robyn. If we’re going to do this, you need to trust me.”

“I want to, Garrick. Really I do. I’m not used to someone taking over for me.”

Being around Garrick is frightening for Robyn. She has been alone and gone through her teenage years alone. She is not used to people wanting to take care of her without having an ulterior motive. The thought of truly opening up to Garrick both scares and excites her because once he sees that having a stripper as a girlfriend isn’t what he wants she will left alone and vulnerable again. Stripping three nights a week allows her to pay her rent, support herself and pay for college. Robyn’s determination to keep Garrick away slowly fades when Garrick being the alpha male that he is, refuses to let her get away. Her life as a stripper and the many men that come on to her will test his patience. For the first time Robyn sees how great it is to have someone want her as fierce as Garrick does.

“No more bachelor parties, no more Craig, no more fu*king games, Robyn. I care too much. You’re mine. Understand? Tell me you want me, Robyn.”

“I want you.”

“Who do you belong to?”

“I belong to you.”

“Mine.”

Robyn is fierce, kick ass, strong willed and determined but she is also scared and looking for acceptance from the parents that sent her out into the world at a young age. Robyn has a hard time believing and accepting that she is worthy of love. Just when Garrick and Robyn accept the truth in their relationship a drug dealer and her past threatens to tear them apart. Will Garrick be able to save her this time around or will the ghost of her parents and the drug dealer keep Robyn from him? Will Robyn let the demons from her past take the only love she has found or will she fight to keep Garrick in her life? The author gives readers dual POV’s so we get inside both character minds and see just how each is affected by the other. You will laugh, cry and want to scream but when you get to the end it is all worth it. I can’t wait to see what the author will bring us in the next Devils Den #2.

2.5 stars - this book just wasn't for me.

The positives about this book:

- The storyline is interesting. Robyn is a stripper who is putting herself through school. When she accidentally stumbles into danger, Garrick comes to her rescue and they have an immediate attraction.

- The writing had a nice flow to it and was fast paced. Also, I think the author is very creative and imaginative and I would read a book by her again.

- Robyn is a strong female character. She takes care of herself and hasn't relied on anyone to take care of her.

The negatives about this book:

- There were parts of this story that were too unbelievable. I normally don't have an issue with that, it is fiction after all, but I felt like there were parts of this story that were too far fetched and almost seemed to contradict Robyns situation.

- Usage of the word "snatch" to describe female anatomy. I hate that word, it is the least sexy word ever in my opinion and it pretty much just grossed me out.

- Garricks nickname for Robyn "little bird" - I wasn't a fan of that.

Even though this book wasn't for me, I wouldn't want to discourage others from reading it.

In Surrender, Violetta Rand takes you on a wonderful journey of passion, pleasure, and the true meaning of love. You know it’s a great book when at three in the morning you’re still turning the pages, saying one more chapter. I will confess right up front, Garrick is my new book boyfriend. The man is hot, hot, hot!!!

I have a bit of an obsession with stripper romances so I knew Surrender would be right up my alley. Sexy dances, hot security guys, and a heroine that can take care of herself? Count me in!

Robyn hasn't had an easy life. Her parents kicked her out when she was 15 and she's been on her own ever since. She's been working as a stripper at the Devil's Den for 3 years to help put herself through college. Thanks to her abandonment issues she has a hard time letting anyone in but as soon as she meets Garrick she feels an immediate connection.

Garrick is a sweetheart with alpha tendencies. I wouldn't say he's all alpha but he's definitely got the whole protective, possessive thing down pact. He knows Robyn's the one when he first lays eyes on her and does everything he can to keep her safe.

Of course, since Robyn's been on her own for so long she's not comfortable with Garrick taking over her life which causes some definite strain in their relationship. Add in the fact that Garrick's sister doesn't approve of Robyn's profession and they definitely have some hurdles to overcome.

While I really liked Surrender, I had a hard time connecting with the characters, or maybe I had a hard time feeling the connection between them. I'm not really sure, but it was definitely missing something. You could feel the chemistry between Garrick and Robyn, especially when she danced for him, but the sex scenes weren't as smoking as I'd expected them to be.

Overall, this was a great read that held my attention and left me wanting more. Can't wait for Marisela and Craig's story in Seduction!

An ARC from netgalley for an honest review.

This was an amazing story. I loved Garrick and he was a really complex character in a way. He was perfect for Robyn and I loved their relationship. He's very protective of her but I adored that he was man enough to handle the fact his girl was a stripper. *sighs* Okay I'm stop gushing.

Story:{The description from back of book}

A good read. Really happy I read it.
Hope you enjoy it, too.

And as always……Happy Reading!!:)

Thank you Netgalley in exchange for honest review.
Robin is a strong, determined, and a survivor. After years of mental and emotional abuse from her mother, she is thrown out of her childhood home at age 15. In order to survive she uses her body to dance at the Devils Den strip club in Texas. She doesn't turn tricks. She is smarter than that and wants more - she strips to survive and to put herself through college.
Garrett is an alpha male who literally has a run in with Robin. She's in danger and when they touch he can't deny the spark. He falls hard for this "little bird" and fight the demons his sister puts in his head about Robins current career choice. Robin doesn't want to succumb to his tender and demanding ways, nor does she want to admit to herself what it feels like to begin to rely on someone else.
This book has romance, hotness, adventure, hot alpha, and a stubborn heroine.

It took a bit to get into this book, but when I finally did I really enjoyed it.

Robin is a fierce heroine who is doing her to get through college and make life succesful for herself. Garret is a strong alpha male who finds Robin in need of help and decides he has to keep her safe. From there the relationships grows and blossoms. I wish there was more resolve with Robin's parents and family in this book. And I love how Garret stood up for her to her Mother.

The book was hot, steamy, and sweet. I definitely recommend it to everyone that loves romances, and alpha males. After finishing this book I have to move on the figure out what happens with Craig whom I loved in this book regardless of anything he did.

One sexy read! Robyn grew up fast, disowned by her family when she was just a kid, she did what she had to do to survive. Robyn is now 20 and a stripper at the Devils Den. After having a bad night she heads for her favorite spot and finds trouble. She is rescued by Garrick a sexy, smart guy that Robyn can’t seem to forget. Then he shows up at the Devils Den. A really liked this book a lot the characters are wonderful and the story kept me entertained throughout. I would give it 5 stars but I did have one issue, it seemed kind of all over the place as to why Robyn was kicked out of the house, her Uncle touched her, her mom’s drinking or her sinful behavior. Was it all and her telling about her Uncle the last straw? I am looking forward to reading more. I received a copy of the book from NetGalley for an honest review.

Garrick has a little hard-on, alright a big hard-on for Robyn, "I lean over the bench seat and gently place the flowers on the floorboard. When I turn back, Garrick's gaze is locked on my a**. "I can't help myself, little bird," he says with a shrug." He's also not a very patient man, "hotel room or your apartment. Pick. Now." If she doesn't, I'll make the choice for her." He also needs to tell his woman some facts from time to time, "I tip her chin and look her directly in the eyes. "I don't play games. I don't share. I don't cheat. And I don't do anything half-a**." I fell in love with Garrick right off, and I loved this book.

This book is exactly what you'd think it would be - a novel about a stripper trying to make it in the world sans stripping and coincidentally falling in love with a really hunky guy who is like, "you're a stripper? I guess that's okay. But you should probably knock that off soon enough, k?"

It's a fun story, sure. Well-written with likable characters to boot, and the plot is a little bit predictable but not annoying in any way. The author opens some doors for future storylines in the same universe in a non-offending way (let's face it, it can be terribly annoying when an author interacts with new characters for the sole purpose of drumming up book sales for another book).

Some things didn't sit well with me, and it's purely personal preference and in no way reflects poorly on the novel. (SPOILERS) First off, I guess I really had a hard time understanding WHY Garrick decided to work at the strip club. I understand that he was done with corporate BS, but a strip club? It was like jumping from point A to point stapler for me (does that make sense? No? Haha). And then Robyn's family. Blech. Something about them rubbed me a little TOO wrong, ya know? They just seemed like the kind of people you run far, far away from instead of trying to make amends (when the familial issues stemmed solely from them in the first place).

All in all, this was a really fun read. At no point in time did I want to throw in the towel and walk away - it kept my attention right away and made sure I stayed good and addicted. The book is a really strong start to what will prove to be a really enjoyable series.

A solid well-that-cleaned-up-quite-nicely stars.

Let me start by saying that I really DID enjoy reading this and I WILL read more of this series, but the storyline and characters bordered more on fantasy land than fiction. It was REALLY hard for me to swallow an MIT graduate as head of security for a Strip Club, for starters. Then there's the stripper that is double majoring in archeology and history. REALLY? ok, it COULD happen but REALLY?! lol .... So you gotta get past that to enjoy the story and I did (but I'm still laughing about it ... of all the majors .... still laughing).
Plot in a nutshell: Robyn (stripper) has a pretty f*d up background. Her mother threw her out at 15 and she's been fending for herself ever since. She doesn't take crap from anyone and doesn't hesitate to throw a punch or two if someone gets to touchy at work. She runs into a little trouble with a drug dealer and in comes Garrik (MIT grad turn head of security for strip club) to save the day. It's insta LUST from moment one but somewhere down the line in turns to love.
The story is sexually charged from the start. Despite the little 'fantasy land' things I've mentioned, I was hooked on this story from page one. Violetta Rand is very creative in her wording and development of a story. And honestly, we could not have asked for a better hero than Garrik for this story. He's an alpha protective male yet allows Robyn the flexibility of her job without fits of jealousy. I'm looking forward to A LOT more from the Devil's Den!

This explosively hot novel drew me in on many different levels. The relationship between the main characters was turbulent, emotional, and erotically charged. The plot of the story combined the best of romance with the worst of life. Rand made difficult to swallow topics accessible to the masses without sacrificing the integrity of her story. She builds a complex world for her characters to live in, combining the angst generally associated with the NA genre with all of the realities of the real world into something that will definitely capture your attention.

Rand’s emotional characters definitely tugged at my heart. She shows the same story from both perspectives, sometimes going over the same scene from both sides. This dual perspective was very well done and really enriched the story while also giving readers an inside look at the main characters. I love how you really get a feel for both main characters, their thoughts, and their situations this way.

This is a fantastic first novel in Rand’s new series. I’m already counting down the days until the sequel is released.

Surrender is an awesome read if you like the 'Pretty Woman' type of romances. Robyn's job as a stripper has provided her a roof over her head, food, and tuition for a college education. She's proud of her accomplishments she's made all on her own after being disowned by her family at fifteen. When her path crosses with the unbelievably hot Garrick, the new head of security of Devil's Den, she knows she's in trouble. For the fist time in her life, she wants to let someone in. Garrick is brilliant, sexy, and rich......the complete opposite of Robyn who is just struggling to survive. People in his world judge people like Robyn and believes strippers are nothing but low class druggies and prostitutes with no future. Will Garrick accept her and still want her after he sees how dangerous and promiscuous her world is? Robyn has never had someone to protect her, want her, and see straight through to her soul. She has a habit of self sabotaging anything that can be a danger to her heart. All I can say is, I want my very on knight in shining armor, like Garrick.

Holy Crackling with Sexual Tension! SURRENDER certainly keeps you on your toes with wanting these two to just get it on already...not that you have to wait TOO long, but within the first few pages you will be like "It's gettin hot in here...so take off all your clothes..."

The story line is definitely different than I expected, there was some definite drama that I didn't see coming, which just added to the fun. Garrick is not your typical "White Knight", he is a whole lotta Alpha man...and quite delicious might I add, and Robyn is definitely as tough as I was expecting, but I liked her vulnerable side, she allowed Garrick to see her, and I truly enjoyed those intimate times when I could feel the full on connection between these two.

Violetta Rand certainly didn't hold back with the sexiness in her debut New Adult romance, the first in the Devil's Den series. If the next two in the series are like this, I know it will make for a happy Lisa!

New Adult readers will definitely enjoy this debut, not too dark, not to angsty, and just the right amount of naked Garrick...oh yeah!

Ms. Rand brings us a new series the Devil's Den. I find her characters strong and vulnerable.

The story is sexually charged from the beginning and the steam was coming out my ears a few times. This story is that of a young women Robyn (barely), whose mother kicked her out on her 15th birthday. She is making a living the only way she can, taking her clothes off for a living. She runs into Garrick, uber-male, that saves her from a mob guy chasing her because she overheard him threatening someone.

The sparks fly from the start. You are rooting for the bad guys to get their butts kicked, hoping that the past can't get in the way of true love. The characters are very well written and the story takes you in and keeps you turning pages.

My only complaint is the ending seemed so rushed and making up with family that has stomped on your heart and your ego isn't cured overnight.

Robyn is such a strong character in this book she survived both physical and mental abuse and to make a horrible situation hellish @ the age of 15 she’s kicked out of her home with only what she can pack into 2 garbage bags, by her mother. Years later we find her working as a stripper, tips are great and they don’t really care how old you are as long as the customers are happy. The money helps her to survive and to finish college. Then one night she finds herself in the wrong place at the wrong time and ends up being chased by a drug dealing psycho. Straight into Garrick’s arms…well behind his truck. Sparks begin to fly between these two as their adventure begins. Enjoyed this book immensely and hopefully reading the next with Craig, Marisela, Macey or even the twins story. Looking forward to reading more from this author. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

I was given a copy of this book as an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

This book captured me through the cover and had me completely hooked by the end of the first chapter. The female lead has honestly had a hard initial go at life and has become a survivor. Being a strong independent person I know how difficult it can be to allow others in. The male lead was sweet and not a typical overbearing alpha type. I think its going to be interesting to see what happens next in Devils Den.
