This was a different slice of Arizona life where supernatural beings live side by side with humans. But the thing is, no one really can tell. At least, I don't think they can. But among the day to day grind, I'm pulled toward a coffee shop, The Caffeinated Cauldron. Cute, right? But I have tbh here, I was having difficulty getting into this paranormal world. I didn't really understand what was happening besides an ice magic witch, hidden witch, complaining about an elderly customer, wanting to make her special type of magic coffee brews, anddd that her wealthy vampire boss bought "her" coffee shop instead of her buying it.🙄 I guess she had dibs.Ha! That was her attitude for more than half of the book, well, it was that way till the end of the story. Alara Cole wasn't easy to like. Yes, she's in her 20s and it's all about me me me but I got tired of that attitude. Girll, ya need to think more than just talking at random.😆😆 Yes, she's sassy and snarky, funny too, but she could be mean, looking at you, June, Alara's coworker and sorcerer in training. There's a scene I'm referring to. June's a nervous nellie so she got some trash flung in her direction. And June helped her with a coffee spell too.😒✨☕ Not cool, Alara. But, anyway. I didn't know what to make of this book. Where are we going? What's the end game. Aside from her wanting her coffee shop. I almost stopped reading. But, I wanted to give this story a fair chance. Which brought me to chapter 9 and 10, then the story changed.🫰🏻🫰🏻

What had once been slow and dragging, now began to move quickly and gave wayy to secrets being known, drama with the enforcer, and the unfolding of attraction between Alara and her vampire boss Drakari Slate. Their early banter didn't feel like attraction or being flirty to me. It was nearly non-existent. Also, FYI, this is only told in Alara's point of view. Now there's fire spinning and Alara changing that attitude of hers. And in this community, supernatural beings are being watched carefully by the Fae council and their creepy Venators. Think of them as enforcers.🚨🚔🧝🏻‍♂️🚔🚨 They run the show.

I don't want to spoil anything here. There's a cliffhanger of sorts. There's spice and bites.🥵🫦🥵 Now the attraction of Alara and Drakari was front and center. I didn't feel a great deal of character development for the cast. Except for... Alara. Maybe that could change in the next book?🤷 I love Peaches the familiar gecko. Little orange dragon.🔥🦎🧡🪴 One character I really liked and I felt wasn't there enough, and I wanted to know more about, was southern witch, Candy Sue. She's a necromancer. That girl stood out!!! She's the one.😁 Maybe her story will get told? My rating is for that switch being flipped and for the story finding its footing in the 2nd half. The book cover is nice. Happy reading.*•>§<•*💘💘💘💘

Alara has been working as a barista for years and she thought she was going to get the place from the previous owner who was also a witch. However, that isn’t what happened and she is still upset and livid about that. Drakari Slate, is a vampire and the new owner. He came in and is now trying to run everything differently. Alara has always taken in plants and stray cats (cats are outside & some plants too), as well as making up a few caffeinated drinks that have a bit of magic in them. Drakari keeps telling her to stop with the magic in the drinks. She is currently working on one for the Winter Solstice, but her frost magic isn’t cooperating. She is one of the few witches that have a dual nature concerning their magic. She is a frost & fire witch. She wants to do things on her own, is extremely stubborn and set in her ways, so she and Drakari, who is a hottie, butt heads, constantly. Candy Sue is hilarious with her southern accent and goth dressing ways. June is going to school to be a sorceress and while on break, for the holidays, she is working as a baker there. She is cute and so quiet, but powerful. I really enjoyed the book, but it does start out a little slow and whiney as Alara is dealing with thinking that the old owner didn’t care. There is soooo much going on in this book. A whole new world created, where witches worked with the Dark Fae and while the DF were banished back to Fae, the witches are only a step above mundane humans. They are also looked down upon as something to be watched because they can turn ‘bad’ easily. I call blank on that. Everyone has good and evil in them and the Light Fae are lording it over everyone and the Venators, the Fae ‘police’ are scary. Finding out the laws and everything almost made me sick to my stomach. I needed the AC on because I kept getting upset as the book progressed. Alara saves a little lizard from the cats and Peaches is adorable and a bit of a nut. You’ll see why, lol. I chewed on my nails a lot because Alara does some stupid stuff in front of the Venator. Drakari is actually a good guy and everything is explained. The steam of hotness and longing on Drakari and Alara is thick enough to cut with a knife. The book was awesome and I can’t wait to read the next book.

First of all, thanks to Olivia Savage for providing an ARC copy of the book. It was a sassy and magical little story where the paranormals live in the open among humans.

Alara is a stubborn yet a powerful witch who hasn't shown her true capabilities due to the stigma witches had in the new fae world. However, when she starts attracting the wrong kind of attention, she wakes up to harsh realities and has to face her insecurities to keep her community safe.

I loved the story line and the overall humorous vibe in the narration. I must say Alara was not likeable in the beginning when she kept using the people around her (especially June) for her own means. But I loved the turn of events and the characters as the story moved on.

I'm eager to see what lies ahead in Alara and Dakari's journey.

Wow!!! This book!!!!…..
I absolutely loved it!!!! It really has a bit of everything.. sassy, sarcastic, caffeinated witch with an attitude, a penchant for making her own rules and trouble letting people in but at the same time seems to be a beacon for her community….a broody hunky vampire who seems to have an iron control on everything except his employees at his new coffee shop….a lot of amazing sexual tension…a perfectly abundant amount of snark and laughs…. Some delightfully quirky side characters (human, witch, sorcerer, and furry included 🥰) and some great mystery and intrigue. An awesome world building book…with a fantastic ending🤗🤗🥰😍🔥 Absolutely on fire!!!!😉🔥🔥🔥 Alara, and this book are a tempest…a beautiful, raging storm😍🔥🔥🔥

What a fun story! I wasn’t sure what to expect but Frost and Fang by Olivia Savage has definitely exceeded expectations. The author writes with such detail it’s almost hard to remember this is fiction. Again, the detail is amazing. The backstory about The Burning Times is fascinating. The Fae Venators, witch hunters and magical enforcers are scary supernaturals the other supernaturals are afraid of since The Burning Times. Alara is a witch, Drakari is a vampire. Tensions originally revolve around Drakari buying the Caffeinated Caldron, a coffee shop run by Alara that she hoped to own. Other supernaturals at the Caffeinated Caldron include Cady Sue and June. And Peaches. The sexual tension between Drakari and Alara sizzles. That sizzle kept me on my toes wondering when things would explode. Great story that I highly recommend. I can’t wait for another book in the series.

ARC Review

I absolutely loved how short and sweet this story is, yet it’s packed with so much detail that it feels far more substantial. Alara is a wonderfully stubborn character with a delightful streak of violence that adds a fun edge to the narrative. 😂

Drakari, while a bit strange and mysterious, quickly became a character I couldn't help but appreciate, especially for his protectiveness over Alara. There’s a strong chemistry between them that isn’t immediately obvious, but it simmers beneath the surface, making their interactions all the more engaging.

I found the story to be incredibly easy to read; I literally devoured it in just two hours! My only issue is that I wanted more—those cliffhanger moments left me raving for answers!

I may be in a terrible book hangover but I still don’t think this book lived up to its potential. I could see the idea with the plot but it felt like it was lacking everything to make it move smoothly.
I personally didn’t like how the first 50-75% of the book was about the FMC and her witchy lattes. I didn’t thoroughly enjoy this book until the last 25%.
There was no emotional connection to the characters and I could see what the author was reaching for for the FMC arc but that itself seemed like the plot. It mainly focused on the FMC personal growth and there was no action. It didn’t have me longing for it. This book shouldv’e taken me 4 hours to read and it took a whole day because my interest wasn’t entirely there.

A paranormal story that is definitely not "cozy", but full of suspenseful action that will absorb you till the last page.
This is a world where the Fae are at the top of the magical community and with their “muscle men” the Venator, control the use of magic and the lives of all magicals, with witches being at the bottom of the rung.
The feisty, talented and sometimes infuriating witch heroine works as a Barista, clashing with her demanding but hot Vampire boss. This is their enthralling story in a world that they both want to change.
I really am looking forward to the next one in the series.

DNF'd May 4th, 2025 at 90 Pages (42%).

I'm wondering why this has so many high ratings from people. The characters are annoying and not at all fleshed out. The FMC herself is...annoying, in a way. She seems like she's written chaotically, and the author has no idea what type of personality she has.

There's no chemistry between the FMC and the MMC. It might've been better if this was dual POV, and definitely a fleshed-out, full-size novel, and not a novella.

June, a side character, was incredibly annoying. A goody-two-shoes, to be honest. There's no redeeming qualities in any of these characters, which just made this not a good read.

I think that’s the best quote I’ve seen in awhile. I didn’t realize it was live for leaving reviews, and was surprised and a little disappointed it didn’t have better ratings. I loved this book. I thought it was funny, and thought she did a good job building up the story. I don’t generally like paranormal stories, especially vampires, but this character Drakari ended up being pretty likable

A Kiss of Frost and Fang by Olivia Savage is the enchanting story of Drakari and Alara. She wants to own the coffee shop…but, the one who made her that promise…sold it!!! To a vampire!! Now, Drakari is her boss and she wants her shop. She will use all her witchy powers to do it if she has to!!

Delightful, humorous, engaging story!! Drakari is stoic, no nonsense, and immovable. Alana is reckless, young, has no boundaries. Meanwhile, the coffee shop could be serving it’s last drink!!! LOVED Peaches!!!

Received as an ARC and leaving my honest review voluntarily. A blend of the human realm and the mystical, magical realm that had me wishing it was reality. Add in the right amount of sass and snark mixed with vulnerability of a witch finally growing into her own and the cool broodiness and sexiness of a dominant vampire in control and you can definitely expect the chemistry, heat, fire and ice of Drakari and Alara. The only gripe I have is that it's not dual POV, but it's a persnal preference. Nevertheless, loved the start of this series and I can't wait for the next book of magic!

I Really enjoyed reading this book, I found myself smiling and occasionally giggling. Alara is snarky, her sarcastic humor and caffeine filled gumption is just the perfect foil to Drakari. Can't wait to see the supporting characters develop more along with the unique world building. The spice is a slow burn, but eventually delivers. I really liked the "lesson" Alara finally learned. Pick up a copy and have a great read!

Oh, and I love the bonus book.... the recipes, the intentions, the snark. Make sure to grab it for yourself.

I loved it. Alara is funny, snarky, unpredictable, and obsessively entertaining. The whole coffee crew worked to make this one of the best books I’ve read in a while. Great spice. I loved the gecko/? I can’t wait to read the next book.
