I’d say 3.8.
I’ve been reading Emilia’s books for a few years now, and while I love most of what she writes, I think there are a few repetitive things/topics across her books. And I know the crews of different series are joining etc., but I don’t need a repetition of what has happened on other books, all the time. Plus, the whole neurodivergent thing is overly done and kind of annoying. Sophia’s character got on my nerves on this book (what a shocker!), and everybody seems to have the similar personality traits: ADHD, deep rooted trauma, daddy issues, and the list goes on. Anyway, I laughed at the end with Aubree’s “possessed” message. Soph deserved that! Lol!
I know this review would be taken as me being a hater, or whatever, but I’m being super honest because I wish I could see something different from Ms. Finn. I do like her contemporary writing and realistic characters, but topics across her series are too redundant and predictable.
