I’d say 3.8.

I’ve been reading Emilia’s books for a few years now, and while I love most of what she writes, I think there are a few repetitive things/topics across her books. And I know the crews of different series are joining etc., but I don’t need a repetition of what has happened on other books, all the time. Plus, the whole neurodivergent thing is overly done and kind of annoying. Sophia’s character got on my nerves on this book (what a shocker!), and everybody seems to have the similar personality traits: ADHD, deep rooted trauma, daddy issues, and the list goes on. Anyway, I laughed at the end with Aubree’s “possessed” message. Soph deserved that! Lol!

I know this review would be taken as me being a hater, or whatever, but I’m being super honest because I wish I could see something different from Ms. Finn. I do like her contemporary writing and realistic characters, but topics across her series are too redundant and predictable.

You can skip this one.

As much as I like this series and world I did not like this book. Characters, we know and love, hurt eachother on purpose. They all come from trama and have earned where they are now. This book hurt my heart.

Gold Stars for perfection!

A gaggle of toxic, abused, emotionally stunted, psychos yet they are perfection. Putting all of these people in one story…together was perfection! Loved seeing the dedication the 2 separate groups have yet watching them form this bond and respect for each other. The laughs were over the top literal laughing out loud. Toss in a tear or two with the heavy stuff and to top it off we get to see Felix loose his cool! I loved seeing all the girls together and I loved the realization of just how alike Soph and Minka really are! We need to make this an annual trip!

Emilia has added another Banger to the collection. Hell In A Handbasket did NOT disappoint!

𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐥 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐇𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐛𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐞𝐭 is the 17th book in the Mayet Justice series by Emilia Finn, and a title has never been more appropriate! A call for a consult on a case results in the ultimate road trip and clash of titans with hilarious shenanigans and some surprising twists! Reading this while still recovering from an abdominal surgery may not have been the best idea I ever had, because I laughed through the entire thing, but it was exactly what my soul needed! Nobody writes characters quite like Emilia Finn, and throwing together the Malone mafia, the Checkmate commandos, a couple unique medical examiners, and some others in a forced proximity situation marred by secrets and lies was sheer genius!! As someone who has read all the EF books, every easter egg and little reference to the new series or anything really, excited me beyond measure! When one of my favorite characters got emotional, I was ready to grab my pitchfork on their behalf. Aubree’s growth as a character was on display so much! I mean, her prank game was pro level!🤣🤣 If you haven’t started this series, you are truly missing out! I can’t wait to see what happens next!

Laugh out loud road trip!

This crossover of Emilia’s series is an amazing, funny, forced proximity of frenemies that I was so excited for and it didn’t disappoint! I loved catching up with all our favorites as they trekked across the country for a case. The twists that Emilia is known for showed up multiple times and the story even had time and room for some spice. This is definitely one of my new favorites as I love how characters continue to be revealed layer by layer. If you haven’t read any of Finn’s work, this is a good one to jump into as it will likely make you want to follow up with these couples in their own series. Get your copy now!

The concept of the group getting together for a shared purpose everything going to crap is great and could be entertaining. 75% of this book was Sophia being deceitful and breaking trust and it kinda ruined it for me. I felt for Minka and don’t think she was overreacting. Everyone else got over it too quickly. Don’t blame her reaction on her being neurodivergent and having bottled up anger. Let her react and have Soph actually apologize for the, to move on. Aubree was great at the end. I felt like we needed one last hit of Fletch, FiFi and Mia. I still love the series, but would have liked a different start to this book.

3.5 🌟

Not exactly what I was expecting. It would have been nice to have a recap before the book on how everyone was connected because there were a few who were difficult to remember.

The story really didn’t have a story. I would have liked an actual collaboration between the groups to solve a case.

There were parts that just seemed like a run around in circles and difficult to understand what was going on.

I love the interactions between all the characters and would love to see more like it.

this was like 98% chaos, 1% plot and 1% baby related 🤣

this series never really fails to deliver (no pun intended)

I wanted to strangle Sophia several times while reading and I could feel the rage Minka was feeling.

Sera and Fletch. ugh. my heart 😭

Quickies are always good, especially with an audience

very curious about Aubrey's wooded discovery and really, really want to hear more but I don't think we will unfortunately.

"I'm gonna see if this bitch drifts" made me laugh out loud

can't wait for the next one!!!

This is the crossover to die for..

This book is everything we didnt know we needed! We have checkmate, and Copeland and Malone mafia collide in this amazing crossover that will leave you guessing and laughing and shocked all in one. I was laughing the whole way through.. when you bring these bada** men and even more bada** woman to the same party the hilarious chaos ensues. Having all of these amazing characters that we already fell on love with all in once place was the best idea ever. Three title of this book is soo accurate. A must read!

The gang is all together!

This book is pure chaos! Full of shenanigans with all of our favorite characters from past series. I loved it so much. Sophia set the stage and everyone fell in line for an unforgettable weekend that included hurt feelings, over protective alpha men, awkward apologies, love, forever friendships and of course a dead body. Emilia Finn’s brain works in a way that creates these amazing stories and keeps you wanting more.

So much fun!

I started off laughing at page one and didn't stop the whole way through. This group together were a riot. There were a few moments that made me tear up as well, the rooftop was one, a rare moment of sweetness and vulnerability for Minka and Soph. The girl at the end was another. I hope we learn her story in a future book and that we get more interactions with this group together. They made me smile.

crossover perfection!

This story was everything I didn’t know I needed! It felt like a family reunion of frenemies and their partners. I laughed so hard at times. So much absurdity! There were many things I didn’t see coming and Finn wove a plot web of pure genius. Things were light and funny, but also deep and serious. How’d she do it? She is magic like that! I’m crazy anxious for the next installments of all her ongoing series because we get to see all these friends again.

Fan-freaking-tastic!

I absolutely adored this book! It was so freaking good. I loved the twist. This book is so different from the rest of Mayet, but so, so good. Having all these people in one book was one of the best ideas Emilio has ever had... And where they end up is amazing. I laughed out loud through most of the book, and even cried a little. This was so refreshing, and a welcome change of pace from the heaviness of the last book. Well done!!!

A definite must read book and series

I believe that the title says it all! Lol! A story that has a lot of my favorite characters included, lots of humor, drama, angst, excitement, a bit of suspense, unexpected twists, as well as uncharacteristic emotional vulnerabilities exposed, it's certainly a must read book and series!
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and outstanding author.

5⭐️ 2🌶️

I swear I will never get enough of these characters. With each new book it feels like I am going home to visit with old friends. This story was such a good time. The banter and hijinx that happen on an epic road trip had me laughing and wondering what was going to happen next. Emilia also managed to sneak in some awfully big feelings into this one, which added another layer to the story.

The best part of this book? More Kane!!!

Hysterical! It was a fun read and I thoroughly enjoyed it!

I loved this “extra” book! It brought so many characters together in a situation that forced hilarious events. I loved the interactions between people who might never have met otherwise. I missed some of these people!!! It was like a mini-reunion! I adore how she brought all these different “worlds” together in a field in the middle of nowhere!

Title is accurate

This book hits all the feels. I love the glimpses of every character we get to see in this book! And the space bus! I mean, we know soph is *connected* and powerful but like this is funny. Our favorite clairvoyant pulls out all the stops. Malones vs Rosas vs checkmate. The grand larceny. The snacks. 🫣😄. Thank you Emilia!!!

So good!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I've been eagerly awaiting this book. I couldn't wait to visit all of the characters. Like family that I haven't seen in years & couldn't wait to catch up with. I wasn't disappointed. At all. It was an amazing read that I know I will revisit again & again. Another 5 star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read from Emilia Finn!!

Perfection

This is the crossover we never knew we needed. If you're a fan of Emilia's books, and why wouldn't you be, this is Sophia being the ultimate puppet master.
A funny plane and road trip filled with mischief, mayhem, egos and a proper touching sisterhood.
Cannot wait for the next installment and my god it better involve more Fletch and Fifi!

Once again Emilia just knows how to string those words and thoughts together to keep me on the edge of my seat! The writing is perfect and she knows just how to make those characters come to life. I can feel Minnnka’s emotions and Jess’s silliness as if they are in the same room as me… Felix… ugggh.. my heart… what will he be like as a father?!♥️♥️♥️

First it was so good to get a glimpse of prior characters. It was good to see a different side to their personalities that don’t normally get examined.
I loved Aubree! She always seems a little ditzy at first glance, but there is so much behind the first impression.
Minka showed so much more emotion than usual. I enjoyed seeing her softer side.
Thank you for the great story.!

Wowza!

Emilia Finn has done it again. This book has all the feels. I laughed, cried, yelled, and laughed some more. I love these characters as if they're real people, and this world Emilia has woven for us is absolutely magical. I'm not the best at reviews, but if you're not reading her books, you totally should be!!

Brilliant, funny, sad and twisty I loved it, it’s always the best gift when you have a new release coming out but this was a wamo all the Malones, the Bishop brothers and Corey and Troy all the girls what a fantastic read wanted it to last way longer. Please🙏 write another with all of them again. This was 🔥 ❤️

Diabolically Hilarious

I have been WAITING for this release since the moment Emilia Finn put out a teensy, tiny snippet of the blurb reveal. This book surpassed my expectations. Having ALL of my favorite characters cross over into one world brought so many memories, laughs, and some cringe. Diabolical plot twists and hilarity ensue. Amazing read!

this was AMAZING!

The book was sooooo good! Seeing everyone together, bickering, laughing and just being themselves was on another level.
My only downside was that I was extremely sick trying to read the first half of this book and didn’t get to enjoy as much as I would have liked but that’s a me problem, I just couldn’t wait.

seeing is believing

Mayet gets roped into another assignment however this time it’s forced. The gang gets involved but it’s not only them it’s everyone including New York. I loved the characters, even Sophia even though she was villainous. The storyline was amazing with us seeing Mayet’s emotional side.
