Harkham's Choice

Rate this book
Adam Latham knows one thing, and one thing only—he simply has to have Marissa Cole as his own. Not as his school mate, or his girlfriend who lives in his family’s house with him. Her. He needs her to be his wife, and he’ll find a way to make that happen, whether or not his medical condition as Harkham’s unresolved case has improved.

His overwhelming need for Mari’s touch continues unabated. Even as her life grows more complicated—dealing with her father’s issues in another state—Adam becomes more determined that they’ll have a life together after they graduate high school in a few short months.

What will he do when he finds out exactly what past abuse Mari’s suffered? How will he handle it when she falls apart in front of his very eyes? He can only hope to contain the numbers that try to consume him and the violet anxiety attacks that follow, on his own.

How will he deal with his unsupportive family members that rally against his relationship with this damaged girl? Is Dr. Harkham the answer to his questions?

Only Adam knows what it means to live with an undefined disability. Until he finds the key that unlocks the secrets to his past mysteries, will he be able to move on and live a full and happy life with his Mari.

I loved the first book, but this one didn't work for me. It didn't have the heart, like the other one had. Adam was perfect, though. The storyline with Mari's dad bored me

There was something a but unusual and over the top about the plot in this book. I also felt like it dragged on a bit but I still loved Adam.

I did find samaras whole part in the story was insane and OTT. How she was able to get everyone to do what they did was just so unrealistic.

I'll still end up reading book 3 though

*I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review*

I enjoyed the first book so I wanted to continue with the series and to see what would happen with Adam and Mari. Book 2 continued with their love story and it actually portrayed how their relationship matured into marriage. I really liked that about this book because the readers got to read about how they went from being engaged to being newlyweds to being a solid married couple. It really showed how mature the MC's were getting, especially Adam. He had so much more insight and self-awareness in this book that I kept forgetting that he had this disorder since he was becoming more and more independent. I enjoyed reading about Dustin's growing love for Mari. It was super sweet and it made me feel happy for her because she now had a proper parent figure in her life. I will say that this book has a lot going on. I usually love books that have drama but this book had a few unnecessary moments that I did not care for, especially the ones that involved minor characters like Victor. This second installment had heavy sex content, violence and angst. Don't get me wrong, I like reading about all those things but I just wish that the author cut back on some of those intimate scenes and replaced them with more scenes that completed certain story lines. Sometimes, an event would occur with one of the MC's, but the reader never got to find out how the supporting characters responded to the news. For example, the incident at the wedding or the incident with Samara at the house, how did Michelle respond to the news? How did Dustin feel about Samara? etc. Eww, speaking of Samara...I hate her character. I don't care what she's going through mentally because she drives me bonkers lol. I still love Zach, he's a wonderful character that provides so much subtle support, it was always refreshing to read his banters. I appreciated the way the father's story line ended, especially when Adam found those pictures in the father's jacket.

Once again, the author writes in a way to elicit a range of emotions from the reader. Some moments in the book were super awkward and others were beyond sweet. If you're looking for a book that doesn't have the typical mary sue then give this series a try. Mari is far from perfect but you will end up rooting for her character. Just keep in mind that the book deals with some really dark and sometimes disturbing things.

Book #2 about Adam and Mari. More is discovered about Adam's disability and his mother and father. And Adam and Mari's relationship deepens and matures. I did like this second book but I found it to be very similar to the first book and I found myself skimming to get to newer more interesting sections. But, still a good read and an amazing story.

4 kisses

Chanse had delivered another amazing story again!

Adam and Mary continue their whatever they have going. There is so much more back story in this boom than the first. I felt like I learned all lot more about each individual character in this book. It had me on my toes fron the first page.

Mary's mom who I can't stand has a heart... I was surprised by this revolution because of how she had previously acted. Mary's dad.. I could never image having to live in a small rink a dink town and having my father known for what her father is known for. It's just one of those things where the pieces come together through out the story.

Dustin, I hated this man in the first book. He seemed so strict and somewhat uncaring and blind and to what was happening with Adam through his sister. He starts warming up to Mari at the end of book and it continues here. All in all I am starting to like him.
Samara... I CANNOT stand this girl and her manipulative ways. If I had my choice I would of locked her up in a nut ward in the first book. But I digress

All in all Harkhams Choice answered a lot of the what's and whos I had at the ending of Harkhams Case. Chanse has given us a very well written book. While reading her book it was like her characters came off of the page at me. I lived this book through Mari's eyewhile reading it.

I cannit wait to read the third and final installment of the Harkhams series. My hat is off to you you Chanse.

I love, love, love the Harkham's series! Adam is so incredibly adorable and lovable.

Book 2 pretty much picks up where Book 1 ended. Adam and Mari are still together. And he is as sweet as ever. There is a bit of drama with a family member, and it gets semi-resolved here in Book 2, but I get the feeling that it will linger a bit on into Book 3. Also in Book 2, we get a glimpse into the whys behind Adam's condition. What happened to him to make him the way he is? How would this affect him and Mari if they decided to start a family? What choices will be made?

Read Harkham's Choice, Book 2 in the series to find out.

As of today's posting, Book 1 is only $0.99, so if you haven't gotten your copy, grab it now and fall in love with Adam, an unforgettable character who will win your heart.

i loved this one just as much as i loved the first one... The love between both Adam and Mari, is growing and it's beautiful. We see them finally graduating from high school and Adam finally getting his diploma :) so proud of his accomplishment... they finally get married!!! mind you not without a little drama, but they got Married!!! Adam can finally get his Mari!!! Adam finally having sex is HOT!! .... He is so adorably sweet and poetic and hot and.... Ya, I want one of my own..

The growth from both Adam and Mari, is really amazing to follow and see. Adam's progress from simply being with Mari and being treated like a man and not a toddler and away from his sister, is worth a standing ovation.. The family dynamics and support that they all have for one another is great, would be fun if everyone had that kind of support and appreication...

I still love Zack, but do also have to add Vic in, now for the comic relief :}.... And Sam's true colours really come out in book 2...Scary to even think of having a sister like that.....

Thank you Chanse for letting me pre read this for you! Great story I can't wait for part 3.

This is the second book about Mari and Adam, the love story continuous where the last book ended but they don't have a easy future before them because someone is out to destroy Mari. Not only with words but also with weapons.
How will Adam react with all these violent actions will he get thru this our will he get in his world again and start count numbers again?
And what happens as Adam finds out that he's not born with this behavior?

As you can read I loved this book sometimes I ask myself where does Chanse gets her inspiration to write these stories because these two characters are so different but the way she writes about them you can feel the love growing between them.

I hope you like reading them as much as I did, so stop reading my review and start reading this wonderful book.

I read all three of these books one right after the other so that's how I'll review them, as one long book. Adam and Mari had my heart from the very beginning. It was very enlightening and heartwarming to see a character that has a disability as the main character. I love how the author has blended both Adam and Mari's separate identities and personal dramas into an interesting pair and yet they still manage to keep their own identities too. I found the writing style to be very easy flowing and had me not wanting there to ever be a last page. Adam and Mari and the rest of the motley crew that Miss Lowell has created in the Harkam series, will stick with this reader for some time to come.

Once again i was lucky enough to be given the chance to read and review an advanced copy of this book.
Harkham's Choice was an amazing and very emotional book. The romance between Adam and Marissa is inspiring and leaves you hoping to one day find the same in a partner.
In this second book we learn more about the family dynamics for both of the main characters. We also get a little more insight on Adams medical condition and why Marissa has such low opinions of herself.
Like the first book the romance is there but it is not overly sexual, so if you are looking for erotica than your are in the wrong place but if you are looking for pure unconditional love than this series is definitely for you.
I highly recommend this book and i can not wait to see how the series ends.

MAY CONTAIN SPOILERS!!!!!!!

I liked Harkham's Choice, though it was a step down from book one, it was still pretty good. Some situations seem a little too perfect, example 1: Adam soothed Mari's mom after she found out Mari's dad died, she didn't even like Adam. Example 2: Mari and Adam get into a fight and she left for a couple of days, when she came back the story say everything went back to normal. One issues that pissed me off the most was when Mari blew Adam in the bathroom, after he came on her, she wanted him to walk in public with her with cum all over her neck and hair. That was so unrealistic, no matter how messed up in the head you are no one would think to do that. I don't know is just seemed Mari got people to bend at her will and she wasn't that good of a character.

Adam Latham knows one day Marissa Cole will be his wife. Mari knows Adam will be hers as well Harkham's Choice gives you the rundown on what happens when their relationship evolves from being sweet on one another to marriage.

Adam finds out more about the truth behind his disability amongst other things and Mari you get a glimpse into her life and see her growth into the woman she is becoming.

I had not read the first book so felt a little lost with what was going on initially. Mari is a straight to the point woman who wants the world for her and Adam and she wants it done the right way. I liked this overall but need to go back and start from the beginning.

The love story of Adam and Mari continues in this amazing sequel to Harkham's Case. This story had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to be thrown at the unconventionally perfect for each other couple next. I am so looking forward to the next instalment of this chapter. Anyone who hasn't read this or Harkham's Case as of yet, you are missing out on a truly original and awe inspiring love story.

Preferred the first book a whole lot more. The second book doesn't really focus much on Adam's 'disability' it's just more on their marriage and some interesting questions are answered and unknown mysteries are uncovered.

Adam is still the adorable and endearing man but I feel like his thoughts are now just focused solely on sex and not really on the romance aspect like in the first book....So that was definitely a drawback.

I loved the first book and I really liked the second installment. I can't wait to read the third installment. I would definitely recommend this book. I really like the way the characters were written and I enjoyed all of the twists and turns the story took; never a dull moment.

Jesus Sam is reallly crazy. With a sis-in-law like that, I would rather be single forever

The good thing is that Mari and Adam are as happy as ever.
