I enjoyed learning the rich heritage of Hawaii. It goes through a lot of history of this island. King David’s life-the merry monarch The hula came back during his reign He did much for his land He was born at the foot of punch bowl crater. His ancestry was a royal line 1850, he was adopted, a common practice. They moved to Lanai When 4 he moved back to Oahu. Went to school, ran by missionaries Defended his older brother from bullies at school. He went on to study law later on, but didn’t complete. He went into military. Major, then colonel by 1858. One of the tales of Hena. Sorceress mother of Hena advised against her marriage. Hena went against the advice. It is a wonderful book filled with folklore and some history. Very enjoyable.
