Rate this book
They've both been burned by love before, but will they take a second chance? A year on from the demise of an unhappy marriage, Kate Stretton grabs the opportunity to move to the other end of the country and start afresh in Cornwall with her teenage daughter, Mollie. Unused to the slower pace of life, Kate leaps at the chance to take on Polkerran Point’s ailing annual arts and music festival.

Soon, though, she locks horns with local Rick Devonshire, the main sponsor for the festival. Rick’s marriage has fallen apart in spectacular fashion, and the last thing he needs is Kate pushing to go against the festival’s traditions.

Between unhelpful locals, taunting messages from her ex and trying to be present for her daughter, Kate’s life is rapidly spiralling out of her control. It will take the whole village to make the festival a success, but with her determination and growing friendship with Rick, she might just do it…

A sweet and emotional romance for fans of Trisha Ashley, Jo Bartlett and Phillipa Ashley.

The return to Polkerran Point felt like a warm hug, wrapped in the comfort of being back in a familiar setting and catching up with friends. This time it is the story of Kate and Rick Devonshire (Dev), both looking to make a new start after the collapse of their respective marriages. Raising kids on their own, dealing with ex’s, and working leave them little time but there is something more between them. I enjoyed getting to know Kate and Dev and watching them find their place in the village. It was lovely to see old friends from the previous books, especially Anna and the crew that breakfasts around her kitchen table. I recommend this book to readers that enjoy cosy stories and life and love and new beginnings

Thanks to Love Book Tours and the author for a gifted copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I loved this book. It was so charming and heartwarming. Second chance romance is just a bit special.

The cover is so cute. I love the pastel colours. They were eye catching. The ice cream van was charming. It definitely evokes sweet thoughts of the seaside!

The book is written well and flows beautifully. The descriptions are lovely and Polkerran definitely sounds like a quaint little seaside village.

I really liked the characters. They slotted into the story beautifully. Kate was a good lady who had a horrid time with her ex husband. Dev was sweet and his ex was a bit of a nightmare! I just loved how Dev and Kate interacted and how their story evolved.

The book is written in this person. Mostly from Kate's POV which worked well. A romance doesn't need a lot of POVs

I recommend this and will definitely check out the others in this series!

I loved returning to this cosy little Cornish cove. This is book 4 in the series but each can be read as standalones.
This follows Kate and Rick (aka Dev) as they are brought together in this lighthearted small town romance.
Kate needs a new fresh start with her daughter Mollie after her marriage breakdown, and quickly gets involved in town life including the summer fayre.
I loved seeing the dynamics between mother and daughter as they navigate their new lives and surroundings.
I liked the awkward first encounters between Kate and Rick, and with some friendly interference how the relationship shifts.
It was great to see a mix of old characters and new overlapping in this charming setting.
If you want a lighthearted and cosy romance this is for you.

This was my first read from the Polkerran Point series and also Cass Grafton but It was such a cute read.

After her messy divorce, Kate moves to a small village in Cornwall to have a fresh start with her teenage daughter, Mollie. Even though she's busy with a new job, she accepts the challenge of organising the annual local arts and music festival.
The main sponsor of the festival is Rick a grumpier man at first but the more he does with Kate, the more he reveals his true self with her, and she starts to fall for him and gets her well deserved fresh start!
This is a cosy, slow-burn .
The characters are likeable and realistic.
ultimately this is a great summer holiday read!

Ahhh! Just look at this gorgeous front cover. I'm actually a little sad that I have this series only in digital form as the front covers are just so dreamy!

This is the fourth book in this - The Little Cornish Cove series and I've read them all so far....and loved them!

It was great to back in Polkerran and immersed once again within this gorgeous community.

I loved getting sneak peeks at a few of our returning characters, but this story revolves around newcomers  Kate and her daughter, Mollie, and  local Rick.

Feeling the strain of the slower pace at the cove, Kate takes on planning the summer festival and decides a breath of fresh air is needed to increase its popularity.

This is the last thing that Rick needs right now, especially when their connection builds in other ways too.

I just loved this storyline and of course with such an amazing backdrop, this gave me such summer vibes.

Every time I read this series, I crave heading off down to the Cornish coast just to experience some of its magic.

This descriptive writing really transports us there with the characters and I have to be honest, that sitting out, reading this in the glorious sunshine we've been having recently, felt even better - I could really imagine myself sitting round Anna's table, catching up too.

I think Mollie stole some of the limelight in this and I really hope we see more from her in future books soon!

Another great read - can't wait to see who stars next ....

With the end of her marriage, Kate is very much in need of a fresh start – the events organiser job at The Point Hotel in Polkerran might not be quite as demanding as she’s used to, but it certainly ticks all the boxes. The location is beautiful, and friends are important when you’re feeling bruised – she’s glad to spend time with Anna again, and staying with her for a while means she soon starts to feel part of the community (many of them can regularly be found enjoying tea and cakes in her kitchen). She finds somewhere rather more permanent to stay, teenage daughter Mollie joins her – and, when she finds that she really does needs a bit more of a challenge, she (rather rashly) takes on the organisation of the village festival.

Rick Devonshire – we know him better as Dev from the earlier books – is a complication she wasn’t really expecting. They first meet as she’s organising a birthday party for his grandfather Ryther, and doesn’t take to him at all – but they begin to bond when she finds a lost and troubled five-year-old while out walking, and discovers he’s his son. He’s a single dad to Theo, with a soon to be ex-wife who’s a real nightmare in so many ways – her abrupt departure is the reason the festival is lacking an organiser, although many of her former efforts have only made the task more difficult. Their budding romance, helped along by the community who can see they’d be perfect together, is a particularly slow-burn one – but, despite pain that’s still raw for them both and the many obstacles, I really hoped they’d find their happy ever after together.

As well as Kate and Dev – both damaged people, both individuals I really took to my heart – the characterisation in this book is just wonderful. You might know that I’m not always a fan of children in books, but I really adored young Theo, finding life so very difficult – and Kate’s daughter Mollie’s equally perfectly drawn, a typical teen who sometimes shows a wisdom way beyond her years, and their perfectly captured mother-daughter exchanges often made me smile. Dev’s grandfather Ryther, always an intriguing character, plays a rather more significant part in this book – a rather lovely (and very touching) storyline picking up some threads cleverly left untied in the earlier books.

And then, as well as individuals (now friends) whose stories were shared in the earlier books, there’s the wider village community – the quirkier characters, every one of them so beautifully drawn, really made the first book in this series particularly special for me (that wonderful – sometimes discordant, and easily distracted – Greek chorus…), and it was a joy to see them firmly at the centre of another story (but it’s certainly hard work corralling them as festival helpers!).

This was a book I enjoyed so much – the wonderfully drawn and detailed Polkerran setting, the community I loved, the efforts to make the festival a success despite the many complications, a romance that really engaged me and proved to be particularly special, and that clever tying up of those earlier loose ends for a particularly emotional ending. I’ve really enjoyed every book in this series, but will confess that I especially loved the first – I was so delighted to find that this one had just the same magic, and might just be my new favourite.

I’m a great fan of this series and this book didn’t disappoint. It was lovely to get back to Polkerran, because at this point it really does feel like joining old friends in a place that you’re comfortable in. It’s an opportunity to catch up with Anna and Oliver, there’s a welcome return for Matt and Gemma, and even a mention of the lovely Daniel (he was a definite favourite of mine). As always there are the assorted character’s who gather at Anna’s table for tea, gossip and a welcome dose of wit and humour. But, in addition to those old friends, there are also new ones and this book brought us Kate and Mollie.

Kate, is an old friend of Anna’s who’s moved to Polkerran, with her teenage daughter Mollie, for a new start from an unhappy marriage. A marriage that was finally shattered by a secret that Kate is loathe to reveal, but still affects her. It’s a big upheaval, new move, new job, new life. So with all that, the last thing she needs is a definitely not meet-cute with Rick Devonshire while out walking. Rick it turns out is also the grandson of the man who’s birthday celebration she’s tasked with arranging; the man who’s the sponsor of the village festival she’s volunteered to organise; the man with an adorable five year old son, and the man with a soon to be ex-wife – who it transpires has other ideas. Oh, yes, count me in. Grumpy, handsome, (almost) single dad – that’s romance kryptonite for me!

We have met Rick before in the last book, but by his more informal nickname of Dev, his grandfather Ryther also made fleeting appearances. In this book they both get their own chance to shine and Ryther’s story picks up a teasing thread that has been there since the first outing to Polkerran. But Kate and Dev, as you might expect, after a less than glowing introduction, are the two that all budding romantics will be focused on. Between two heart-weary people, it was always going to be a struggle. For good measure throw in an ailing festival to revive, parenting problems and vindictive ex’s the waters they were swimming in were well and truly muddied. But, as always in Polkerran, there’s plenty of support and eager shoves to keep things moving in the right direction. The question is, whether it will all be enough, especially when the pantomime villain, local landowner Alex Tremayne makes an unwelcome entrance.

So, whether you’ve read this series before, or this is your first outing, sit down, make yourself comfortable and let yourself escape to warm and welcoming Polkerran and all that that encompasses.

Thank you to Love Books Tours, Canelo Romance and Cass Grafton for the opportunity of joining the Virtual Book Tour of A Fresh Start at Polkerran Point which was published on 24 April 2025.

This is the first book I have read on the Love Books Tours and I was thrilled to receive a copy of the book together with a gift bag in the post. I had not read any of the other books in The Little Cornish Cove Series (although I fully intend to now!) but this book reads perfectly as a stand alone story. It would make a great summer read for the beach but also a cosy winter read to cuddle up with in front of the fire. It would suit anyone looking for a bit of romance, escapism, warmth and humour.

I was delighted to be transported to Cornwall with Kate as she begins to make a fresh start for herself and her daughter Mollie in Polkerran Point. Finding her new job and life much slower paced, Kate takes on the challenge of organising the village’s summer festival. I really enjoyed the times when the locals popped into Anna’s, especially Mrs Lovelace with her hilarious slips of the tongue! The slow burn romance between Kate and Dev was well written and believable as was the relationship between her and her teenage daughter Mollie. There were quite a few unexpected twists in the book which I wasn’t expecting. I think this would make an excellent Sunday night TV series!

Here’s the blurb:

“They've both been burned by love before, but will they take a second chance?

A year on from the demise of an unhappy marriage, Kate Stretton grabs the opportunity to move to the other end of the country and start afresh in Cornwall with her teenage daughter, Mollie. Unused to the slower pace of life, Kate leaps at the chance to take on Polkerran Point’s ailing annual arts and music festival.

Soon, though, she locks horns with local Rick Devonshire, the main sponsor for the festival. Rick’s marriage has fallen apart in spectacular fashion, and the last thing he needs is Kate pushing to go against the festival’s traditions.

Nursing their wounds from past relationships, can Kate and Rick find a way to work in harmony? And when Rick’s soon-to-be ex-wife comes back on the scene wanting a second chance, what will he do?

A sweet and emotional romance for fans of Trisha Ashley, Jo Bartlett and Phillipa Ashley.”

This is Book 4 in Cass' amazing Series 'The Little Cornish Cove', and these books just keep getting better and better.

In this book, we follow Kate and Rick and their rollercoaster ride of a story!

I absolutely adore Cass' cover art on this series as each book is absolutely beautiful and also feels lovely to the touch.

Cass had an amazing way of writing, and as you read, you get dragged into the story and really get to know the characters so much so that you just fall in love with them.

Kate and Rick are no different... and their story is quite unique.

The side characters are utterly amazing in these books. We constantly hear about/see characters from previous books, so you always see what's happening with them but it's the locals that truly takes the side characters' limelight...

They are absolutely hilarious, and the things they come out with just tickled me at times.

Cass is extremely clever with her writing as Book 1 started with a mystery about Aunt Meg that wasn't fully uncovered and Cass feeds you little crumbs as you read through the story so you are constantly aware that this cosy mystery is lurking in the background but it never detracts from the main stoey of the book you're reading.

It's absolutely fantastic!

I honestly can't rave about this book enough. It really is a warm hug of a book and would be utterly perfect to read when you want something light, cosy, and just lovely to read.

If you haven't already, you absolutely need to read this series and while you COULD read as a standalone, I would wholly recommend you start from Book 1 and make your way through in the correct order so you get to read about the Aunt Meg Mystery in order.

Fantastic book as always, and I can't wait to read Book 5!

A Fresh Start at Polkerran Point is such a charming, uplifting read – the kind that makes you want to pack your bags and move to a cosy seaside village. The setting is pure bliss: Cass Grafton paints Polkerran Point like a postcard-perfect slice of Cornish heaven. Add in short, snappy chapters with fun Friends-style titles and you’ve got a story that’s super easy to fly through.

Kate’s journey of starting over with her daughter was really touching. I loved the sense of community and fresh starts, and the romance with Rick had that sweet, slow-build charm. Plus, his grandad? An absolute treasure. His support and matchmaking antics were just adorable, especially during that cute blind date scene – one of my favourite parts!
That said, the story does rush through some moments. There were times I wished for a bit more breathing room – like when someone asks for a number, but we skip straight to the aftermath of the conversation. And the repeated “Hugo deceived me in the worst way” line got a little repetitive, which slightly diluted the impact of the twist (even though the reveal was genuinely surprising!).

Still, those are small things in what is overall a heartwarming read. I didn’t realise it was the fourth book in the Little Cornish Cove series, but it works perfectly on its own. The cameos from previous characters (hi, Anna, Lauren, and Daniel!) were a lovely bonus and made me want to check out the earlier books.

If you’re after a cosy, feel-good romance with seaside vibes, supportive friendships, and second chances, this one’s a little treat.

I think Ms. Cass Grafton is going to win herself the award of Queen of the Slow Burn. In fact, I think she might cause someone somewhere to spontaneously combust from frustration waiting for their favorite characters to get together. But if slow-burn is your jam, boy oh boy, do I have an author rec for you! And, I'm here for it! I love a good slow burn, and Ms. Grafton delivers a beaut! My goodness!

This is a romance. The whole point of a romance is you have to have an HEA. It's just written in the contract. But no-one ever said the author couldn't ruin you in the process. Wow! This one had some heavy topics. And, our characters had to wade through a lot to get through each other. This is not a sweet, gentle ride. This is some drama, some heartbreak, and some tears. You have to earn this one.

But that makes is sweeter when you get there, right?

As usual, I really loved some of the side characters in this one, which is extra funny because, some of them were former MCs from previous stories. But, my favorites were the kids - Mollie and Theo, and the old man Ruthers. He has been a recurring character throughout the series, and I always love seeing him. We get to learn even more about him this time which I was excited about. We also see lots of familiar beloved characters, which makes it feel like visiting friends. All the characters and settings are so well written that they really come alive!

It’s one of those books that wraps around you like a warm blanket—full of heart, charm, and the promise of new beginnings.

Kate Stretton is looking for a fresh start after her marriage falls apart, so she moves to the peaceful village of Polkerran Point with her teenage daughter, Mollie. Staying with her friend Anna, she hopes to rebuild her life in a place where things move a little slower. But adjusting to her new surroundings isn’t easy, and she soon finds herself drawn into local life, especially when she takes charge of the summer fair. Of course, that means working alongside Rick—Leigh’s estranged husband—who throws her off balance in ways she didn’t expect.

I loved watching Kate find her footing in Polkerran Point. She’s strong, determined, and easy to root for, especially as she starts carving out a new life. Her relationship with Mollie was also a highlight—full of realistic mother-daughter moments, complete with teenage sass.

Rick, meanwhile, was the perfect mix of gruff and thoughtful, and their interactions had a lovely blend of awkward tension and undeniable chemistry.

The small-town atmosphere was beautifully written, with vivid descriptions that made me feel like I was right there.

This book was such a lovely, feel-good read, perfect for anyone who loves small-town romances filled with heart and humour.

It was so good to have another trip to Polkerran Point and enjoy seeing another romance bloom and two people figure out what they want most in life.
The quirky locals were all included in this visit, thankfully I have read the previous 3 books so I was well versed in those quirks and how everyone related to each other already. Seeing how some of them had evolved and how they did through the course of Kate's story was wonderful and has me hopeful of a fifth, at least, return to the Cove if only to see how those evolutions pan out!
This story was an interesting one although part of me does feel that Leigh was a bit too much of an opposite to Kate and it makes me wonder how she and Dev got together in the first place?! Kate was great with Theo, putting his needs first and with the Fete/Festival making it more about the village than just a vessel to impress her fashionable city friends.
It was good to get some more pieces to the mystery of Meg and all that happened to her which made her stay in Polkerran Point and take Anna so much under her wing. Although her story does feel complete now there's a part of me that wonders if there might still be more to her story, Meg was a woman of many mysteries!

This was my first read by this author and it was a great introduction to this series even though I've joined late. I'd be interested in reading more. This was the perfect read for me to read before going on my summer holidays.

Kate Stratton has stepped out of an unhappy marriage. And a year later she decides to move on and start afresh. This move takes her and her teenage daughter to Cornwall. Kate is not used to a slower place of life but things change when she ends up taking on Polkerran Points ailing annual arts and music festival.

But when she meets Rock Devonshire who is the main sponsor for the festival things don't go smoothly. And she finds that he's not willing to take on her ideas because he's used to all the festival's traditions. He's also freshly out of a divorce. But then they soon find common ground and start to work in harmony just as Rick's soon-to-be ex-wife comes back on the scene wanting a second chance.

This was a slow-burn and cosy romance. I found the book to be well written and could picture the cosy town perfectly. I loved the feel of this story and was thankful for the opportunity to read this book. I will look forward to reading other books by this author.

I have loved this series featuring the hilarious characters of the Cornish Cove of Polkerran Point.
Way back in book 1, we met Anna and Oliver, and I love that we still have updates on them despite having a new couple to focus on. Introducing Kate and Dev, of course not forgetting teenager Mollie, youngster Theo, pupper Bayley, and cat Podge. These Cove incomers have lots to bring and a sweet love story to boot.
I really enjoyed the talk of the fayre. It sounded like just the kind of place I'd love to spend a day walking around.
Of course, the old gang are still meeting up daily around Anna's kitchen table, and I'd love to join them one day, I can't imagine the laughter that would ensue.
This book has me hooked from the off, as the series has to be fair, and I read it over the course of 24hours, it was a pity work and sleep had to take so much of my time!
I love this authors writing style, and this series genre is my absolute favourite to escape to. I can't wait for another Cass Grafton book!

This is such a charming romance set in Cornwall.
Kate Stratton and her daughter Mollie are looking for a fresh start. Unused to the slow pace jumps head first into organising Polkerran Points ailing arts and music festival.
Rick Devonshire the main sponsor whose life is falling apart around him the last thing he needs is Kate pushing against the traditions

This is part of a series of books but can definitely be read as a standalone. I am absolutely going to check out the rest of the series.
I just loved diving into this one. I couldn't help but fall in love with the town and the people.
The story flows well with short chapters making it all too easy to binge read 😂. I loved the build up of Kate and Ricks relationship. It felt very natural and I really wanted them both to get that happy ever after The side characters just add to the enjoyment of the story as well.
If you like your romances with older believable characters, small town settings and second chances You really should check this series out.

I received this as an author's copy and was so excited, as I had read the 3 preceding novel in the Cornish Cove series and utterly enjoyed them.

No sooner did I receive the book, I fell ill and it was painful to know the book lay next to me and I wanted to know what happened next at Polkerran Point.

But I can tell you, it was worth the wait. 100%.For me it was again, one of those books that I simply couldn't put away.

It was so easy to fall in love with the characters again. The book has everything that I want from a romantic escape novel. Several very likeable people, a small remote pace, some tension and love. Just like a hug in a book.

Though I have finished the book, the leading man, Dev/Rick/Freddie, is lingering in my head.

I will definitely reread the book just to bring back this wonderful feeling I have. Wish I could bottle it.

I'd also love it, if there were an audiobook.

I am now really looking forward to book number five in this series ❤️

3.5 ⭐️

This book was a different style to the books I usually read as I tend to read much darker books but I was interested to try something different.

We meet Kate, recently divorced and looking for a fresh start at Polkeron Point, a village in Cornwall. Following Kate as she navigates single motherhood, and throws herself into her new life, it’s a cosy and comforting read, a slow burn second chance romance with a slight mystery air.

The author’s writing has an easy immersive style that’s engaging and draws you in, making you want to move and make your home in a seaside village.

It would be prefect for a summer holiday read, and I can see it being really popular for anyone wanting a calming, wholesome read or a break from heavier novels.

It’s the 4th book in the series but I didn’t find that a problem at all, although I suspect that reading the others would add to the enjoyment.

Well just when I thought Cass couldn’t give me another book that made me feel like the others, I couldn’t have been more wrong. This was an even bigger hug in a book than I could have ever imagined.

I have read all of the series and I think this one was by far my favourite, Kate has moved to Polkerran Point to be close to her friend Anna. She’s left an unhappy marriage and is on a journey to find herself again. Can Polkerran Point’s magic work again?

Humour and emotion are cleverly interwoven throughout this book, it really was a true escape. Having read the previous book I felt at home returning back to the idyllic Cornwall setting which Cass has so beautifully depicted. The two main characters of this novel have their own backstory which makes this read all the more beautiful watching it come together.

I have read every one of this series so far and was highly anticipating this one. I certainly wasn't disappointed. What a gorgeous cover.

I love Cass's writing style and how her characters are so relatable and down to earth. The books have such a friendly community feel as they always feature characters from previous books (who are like old friends) together with the new ones she is introducing.

I loved Kate and Dev and their slow burn romance, after both being hurt terribly in the past. Kate's story, in particular, was emotional but I also felt for Dev. I loved the inclusion of Ryther again, and it was very emotional when his story was pieced together.

As well as the descriptions of the stunning location, there is also a lot of fun in the story especially with the "oldies".

I absolutely adored this book and look forward to the next one in the series, hopefully there is one!

This book was such an enjoyable read. It's a super cute, heartwarming romance that leaves you hopeful for a second chance to find love. The cover is beautifully quirky and the writing style really hits you in all the feels. You follow Kate and Rick on their journey for a fresh start, after their respective marriages end. From figuring out the work-life balance, to solo parenting and dealing with ex's, both characters had elements that really resonated with me. I enjoyed getting to know them both throughout the story and seeing their romance develop. I particularly loved the little mishaps and awkward first encounters they have along the way as it really felt like something special.

I wasn't aware this was book 4 in The Little Cornish Cove series, but it was easy to follow and, like many small town romances, can be read as a standalone.

This is book four of five in The Little Cornish Cove Series but can be read as a standalone which I have done. This is the story about Kate who decides that her life is going nowhere so moves to the stunning Cornwall with her daughter. But Cornwall has a steady and slow pace of life and it is a lot different to what Kate is use to, can she really make a fresh start of it. Whilst in Cornwall Kate meets Rick and little does Kate know but he is going through similar things she has been through, can they both help each other heal? It was a slow but easy read, I loved the descriptions of Cornwall it is such a beautiful setting for a book. I enjoyed the way Cass writes, all the details too especially with the characters. A perfect little read.

It was so nice to be back in Polkerran Point where the sun was shining and a fresh sea breeze was blowing. If only! I've never wanted to move to a fictional place more than I've wanted to be there.

I've loved catching up with old friends, and making new ones, although Mrs Lovelace and her idioms remain my absolute favourite. I also really enjoyed the cultural references between Kate and Mollie, I could recognise a lot of those in my own life with teenagers.

The plot was engaging and, whilst it's what I've come to call a "you know what you're getting book", I absolutely loved it. There's something safe and comforting about a nice romance like this.

I'm a huge fan of Cass' writing, and am now eagerly awaiting the next Polkerran adventure. Assuming there is more to come of course.

A Fresh Start at Polkerran Point was a lovely read, it really felt wholesome and I enjoyed reading it.
I loved how Kate took a chance and made a fresh start in a village she wasn't familiar with.
I liked how she was created realistically along with the other characters. Her interactions with Rick, where so realistic that at some points I wanted to shake Rick! I loved how these two developed throughout the storyline.
I really like Cass Grafton's writing style, her descriptions make you want to visit the places she writes about, the storyline pulls you in giving you all the feels. The books remind me of chick lit with the wholesome romance sprinkled throughout. You're left with a satisfied feeling.

In this book, Cass introduces us to Kate and Mollie - another two fantastic characters to add to the Polkerran family. I was so happy to be diving back into this series and the happy place that it takes me to! I really love how all the characters from the other books are woven through all the books and the main storyline.

Kate and Rick were fabulous main characters and their slow burn enemies to lovers vibes were just spot on! The community in Polkerran Point are just so perfect - I want to pack up and take my family there to live and get involved in all their fun antics!

Another fun, cute and cosy romance book which was a lovely little palette cleanser in between all the thrillers I’ve been reading lately.

It’s classic realism but without the enduring, timeless qualities. Some of the characters had parts of their character that had a lot of detail, but otherwise were fairly light on personality context. I kept forgetting who was who because the characters weren’t that memorable. I suspect it will become quite dated quite quickly and I felt it had an obvious classic realist plot without enough depth of drama to keep me interested. I got to the end think I could have written better. Which is a bit depressing as my writing limit is flash fiction. Kate seemed totally vapid and what I thought might be quite a cathartic read turned out to be a frustrating one: Kate was so unutterably dull, stereotypically girly and wet that I was rather sad about the happy ending. 🙈🤷‍♀️

A Lovely Read.

I think it is a pleasure not to be underestimated to sink back into a series of books you have enjoyed from book one. A Fresh Start at Polkerran Point introduces new characters to this series but also revisits old haunts and familiar faces.

It is usually the sign of a good book when I sneak off to read more during the day as I did with this title. I really enjoyed the story of Kate, her daughter, Mollie, Dev and his son, Theo as well as catching up with familiar characters such as Kate and Oliver and Mrs Lovelace. Polkerran almost feels familiar enough to walk around by now and I thoroughly look forward to the next episode.

Thank you NetGalley and Canelo Romance for the ARC copy.

4 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

First of all this was my first read by Cass Grafton and not gonna be my last. It was a very sweet, face moving small town all the feels romance. I’m such a sucker for small town romances so it made me happy. Kate moving across the country with her daughter to start over in Polkerran Point. In the process she becomes heavily involved in the annual arts and music festival. In the process she meets Rick whites in no place for a relationship. But never say never! Such sweet small town romance highly recommend.

This was a good light romance. I really enjoyed the characters and the storyline. I did not know when I started that this was a part of a series and even though it can be read as a standalone, I do wish I had read the series in order to get to know the other characters better. But other than that it was a 4 star read. Slow-burn all the way with a HEA at the end. I thoroughly recommend you read this book!

I received this book for free in exchange for my honest review!

Thank you Netgalley and Canelo for this ARC!
