Alys is in the midst of rebuilding her life after a toxic relationship left her shattered and wary of trusting again. When a chance encounter with the enigmatic Tyrone brings unexpected safety and warmth, she finds herself drawn to him in ways she never imagined. But as her ex's relentless pursuit escalates, Alys realises that her new found connection with Tyrone may be more than just chance.
Tyrone Conway—CEO of CW-Corp—is only in New-York for a few days, to attend his father’s funeral. At least that’s what he is set on, before his Grandmother Fiona starts to meddle and makes him stay. The only way for him to go back to Ireland and leave his dark past behind is to marry quickly. How fortunate for him that a woman he’s had his eyes on for a couple of years is finally single and in need of a dark knight…
This book was so much fun and so sweet. The author did an incredible job showing Alys' trauma and anxiety and how she works through it with the support of her friends and Ty. And Ty. Sweet sweet Ty. I found myself swooning every time he opened his mouth. He was funny, kind and a little possessive and I loved how gentle he was when Alys was struggling. If you're looking for a sweet romance with some excellent spice 🥵, then you will adore this book. I can't wait for the next one!
I devoured this ARC in one sitting! The slow-burn mafia romance had me hooked from the start, and the chemistry between the two main characters was chefs kiss.
What truly stood out was their deep understanding of each other - it felt like they were destined to be together.
Fmc Alys is smart, kind and running a whole bookshop (honestly jealous) and carrying a huge amount of trauma (from one awful man).
Mmc Tyrone has a really heartbreaking backstory but the man is a walking green flag. He's so patient and understanding when getting to know Alys and the man's insistence on not lying to her is 👌. Him being threatened by his nan who is also Alys tennant is 10/10 hilarious.
There is a lot of found family and positive female relationships and I especially loved Alys, Meera and Eleanor's relationship with Fiona (Tys nan).
The flirty banter between Ty and Alys is so cute "I'm saying I'd be happy to take care of your printer for you" gave me a good giggle.
This was such a great read! Can't wait to read more!
*The Book Trope Theory* by Laetitia Aldin was everything I didn’t know I needed — and more. If you're looking for a mafia romcom that hits the perfect balance of swoon-worthy sweetness and spicy tension, this book is it.
Tyrone is exactly the kind of MMC I love: super possessive in the best way, the “she’s mine” type without ever crossing into toxic. His protectiveness over Alys feels genuine and heart-melting, and the dynamic between them is *everything* — full of chemistry, banter, and a deep sense of comfort even as danger circles around them.
The story gives you all the delicious mafia vibes with a lighter, more romantic twist that keeps it from feeling too heavy. The spice? Chef’s kiss — perfectly placed and just the right amount to make you fall even harder for these two.
Overall, I loved this book and would highly recommend reading it. The connection between Alys and Ty is unforgettable, and the blend of romance, humor, and a touch of danger made it such an addictive read. I seriously cannot wait for book two!
Laetitia Aldin knows what we girls want, talking about a new bookboyfriend! Tyrone Conway it is! Sweet, understanding, overprotective Tyrone. I think you can only love him for who he is.
The book trope theory is a goodwritten Mafia romance book about Tyrone, the Mafia bosun, and Alys, the bookstore owner. Alys, with her own backpack filled with trauma caused by her (ex)boyfriend. And sweet Tyrone with his own history, who's forced to be a Mafia boss because of the death of his father. They met by accident on the street. Or wasn't it an accident? That moment is where their lovestory begins.
I loved this book, but I was a bit sceptic before. Didn't know I would like to read this Mafia story, but I'm down for another one! Sometimes it took me a while to get into the story, but once I was there I couldn't stop reading. The slowburn spice is worth the wait, but also a great balance between spice and no spice. Overall is their lovestory so good, you want it yourself. Definetely want to read more from this author!
I loved the chemistry between these two, Ty was the ultimate book boyfriend. He was so attentive and patient as our FMC worked through her issues stemming from a previous relationship. There is a dangerousness to him that's captivating but he treats her with the utmost respect- a little violent cinnamon roll and I LOVED IT.
If you're looking for something a little slow burny, with great chemistry between your characters and an exciting plot, this book is a perfect choice!
Didn’t stop reading once I picked this up, This book is such a good read. It hooked me instantly and I love the chemistry between Alys and Ty but I also love the relationships they have with other characters in the book.
This book does deal with trauma but in a very specific way and goes about healing rather than hurting.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Omg, once I started, I couldn't stop.. The book trope theory is definitely real, and I love it! It's got books, cats, friendship, hot Mafia men. What more could you ask for? Oh, spice? Yes, it definitely has that, and it's good!! 🔥🔥 Tyrone and Alys together are perfection, and you can not tell me otherwise, but Julian, he deserves whatever is coming for him when Tyrone finds him!!
This was such a good book. I loved the characters and plot. Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen something else did I was completely hooked.
Wow. Just wow. Where do I even begin? This story had me from the off. It was gripping and holy moly was it spicy 🌶️ I found myself smiling like a crazy person continuously. Ty is just 🔥😅 It’s fantastically written with witty banter and great characters. Every chapter had me hooked. I can’t wait to read more of Laetitia. An amazing author.
Laetitia Aldin has done it and just became an auto buy author for me with The Book Trope Theory! This spicy mafia romcom is equal parts thrilling, swoony, and laugh-out-loud funny. Alys is a relatable heroine, with her heartbreak and healing while being swept up in a romance with the mysterious Tyrone Conway. Their chemistry crackles from the moment they meet, and the family meddling (looking at you, Grandma Fiona!), and emotional depth make this more than just a typical romance.
The “marry-to-escape-the-past” trope is handled cleverly, and I loved how the book subtly played with familiar romance clichés while still keeping the story fresh and unpredictable. Tyrone’s backstory added just enough darkness to balance the humor, and Alys’s growth throughout the book was truly satisfying.
If you love your romance with a dash of danger, sharp banter, and characters you can’t help but root for, this one’s a must-read. Can’t wait to see what Aldin writes next! Also the spice is chefs kiss
A very good romance, with charismatic characters, an interesting story and spicy scenes ! I couldn’t put it down as soon as the ending of the first chapter !
I am giving this book 3.5 stars for various of reasons. I want to start off with the positives, the cover is beautiful, the tension between Ty and Alys was beautiful to read, my favorite character has to be Nan above all! The mentions of animals is so cute especially the cats and Ty adopting one of them is just so adorable! However, some parts of the book I felt hard to get into and lost at times. At some parts of the book I was confused on whats happening like so much was happening at once. Overall the book was enjoyable to read truly Ty and Alys have an amazing future ahead of them in where they are hoping to stay with each other. Alys went through a lot even if it was hard to talk about you get the idea which is portrayed wonderfully. Just like in real life, some situations can be hard to talk about to someone you know or starting to know. It shows a value of talk when you are ready there is no force and that's what Ty was able to provide, patience and understanding towards Alys especially Nan. Have I mentioned I love the cover? its so cute and beautifully done! I am very interested in what happens next!
The endingggg!!!! I need more of Alys and Ty!! *throws tantrum* I need more of all the cuteness!
I love that Alys owns her bookstore! That definitely a dream of mine one day to own one!
The slow burn was all there!! When they finally got spicy, I was kicking my feet cause I was on edge! lol
once the spice happened, it was amazing!! ughh! so good! I was kicking my feet and squealing!
love how protective ty is of Alys in the book! I wish I could say more, but I don't want to spoil anything cause it's not out yet!
I loved how she wrote this book cause of the different accents! I was never confused or got lost while I was reading. Do I wish the book was a little longer!? I sure do, but what reader doesn't!? lol
If you love a fast-paced, slow burn Mafia romance book! This is the book for you!
I want to start by saying I received an ARC for this book. The book was fun, easy to read and very good. It follows Alys, who owns a bookshop and is an author undercover, while she falls in love with Ty, the heir to both Irish and Italian mafia. I thought the book was very well written, it was easy to get into and the spice was spicing, let me tell you that 🥵 I also liked the fact that Ty helped Alys recover from her trauma and supported her through her healing process. In conclusion, if you want a funny, easy to read story with a cute romance and some delicious spice, this is the book for you 🥰
This book was a cozy mafia Romance. Alys is the owner of a book shop and has just broken up with her crappy ex-boyfriend who isn’t taking it very well. Tyrone is in the Irish Mob and has been obsessed with Alys for 2 years. Tyrone takes on a protective role for Alys and we go along as their relationship slowly develops throughout the book. This book is a slow burn. It is a fun mafia Romance with an MMC and FMC that adore one another. Definitely recommend this read.
Such an amazing book! I couldn't put it down! The book has a lot of fluff, with some spicy scenes and a sprinkle of danger. I loved the fact that Ty's personality almost makes us forget his origin. He is very different from most of the mafia type characters we usually see, that it's refreshing. Alys and Ty's relationship is so cute, the way he is aware of her needs, how he helps her overcome her difficulties... They are such a cute couple!
I got to have my 1st time being a ARC reader for this book! I found it in my TikTok for you page and was hooked. I had to see what the hyper was. I 100% loved this book! The spice was sweet & spicey, nothing too crazy for those who like calmer spice. The chemistry between the main characters was so well done! I wanted this match up in real life 😍
I absolutely loved this book! Alys and Ty's story is adorable, heartfelt, and spicy. 🤌🏽🔥 Once i started this book, I couldn't put it down. The ending has me excited for the second book. Will it be a continuation of Alys and Ty, along with Nor and her brother?
Laetitia Aldin is a new author to me, and I can confidently say I loved her writing style.

Absolutely loved this book. It’s everything you would expect for a book with this title. I felt the chemistry between the 2 characters build as the book went along and I wasn’t expecting what happened throughout the book. Would recommend to a friend and would definitely reread
I absolutely loved this book, hooked me straight away, I couldn't put it down, I loved the story, the writing, the characters and not just the FMC and MMC but the others too.
I would now happily read anything and everything by this author.
