Annette Broadrick was born on November 26. Her mother read to her until she read to herself. From that time on, books became her closest companions and teachers. She was an only child until the middle of her 16th year when her sister was born.

She married immediately after high school graduation in the middle of her 18th year. Twelve months later she had her first son. She ended up having four sons in seven years. People with children do not need to explain what their life was like for the next 20 years. Those people without children do not want to hear about it. Early on, she became a secretary to supplement the family income. Eventually she became a legal secretary and for 25 years she worked for attorneys in Arizona, Texas, Illinois, and Oregon.

Her love of books followed her throughout her career as a mother and a secretary. By the time her youngest son graduated from high school she decided to write a book of her own. After writing in a spiral notebook for six months, she rented a typewriter and rewrote the book, showed it to a creative writing teacher, who was also a friend, listened to her critique and rewrote her story. Next she showed it to another avid romance reader and carefully listened to her critique. She rewrote her story once again. Next she mailed the manuscript to the Silhouette office in New York. Two months later she received a phone call asking if she'd be willing to do extensive revisions, including cutting one hundred pages. She said yes. This was in January 1984. By the time the book, Circumstantial Evidence, came out in November of that year, she had sold a total of six books.

Since October 1984 Annette has supported herself with her writing. Her career as a published author has also supported her reading habit and in the past five years she has managed to establish a quiet life in the Hill Country of central Texas that soothes as well as stimulates her. She hopes to continue writing the kind of books that readers enjoy.

Sweet reunion story. AB is a great author but this book pales in comparison to her earlier books.

Wasn't quite what I was expecting, but still a very good story of two people who have grown apart, but find their way back to each other.

Sherri's Masterson day did not get any better after she got fired from her job. While driving home, from being fired, she came upon stand still traffic. Looking in the mirror, her heart stopped when she realized the eighteen wheeler behind her was not stopping.

When Greg Hogan walked into work and saw his coworkers faces, he knew something was up, but he didn't think it would be about his ex-wife Sherri.

When Sherri wakes up in the hospital she is shocked to learn Greg was there. After their divorce two years ago, she made a clean break and never wanted to see him again. But there he was and there he stayed for the duration of her hospital stay, only leaving when necessary.

With no family, Greg made plans for her to stay with him while her injuries healed. Just seeing her again sparked the fire that blazed between them. But Sherri tried not to forget why their marriage didn't work. Greg was not a man to open up and after learning all the things he kept from her, Sherri packed up and left.

Once Greg got her to his house, the story takes a backward glace at how they meet. At the young at of 21, Sherri was the only witness to a case Greg was working on. Instantly attracted, Greg pursued her until she agreed to go out with him. After only a few weeks of dating, Greg popped the question and got her to the nearby preacher.

Now, back in the future, Greg desperately wants to win Sherri back, but to do that he must finally deal with his past, which includes his parents.

After doing some soul searching, Greg realizes the mistakes made in their first marriage and after proposing, promises they won't happen again.

I don't know if it was because a portion of the book was spent in the past or what, but it just felt like not enough time was spent on Greg and Sherri together. I didn't feel that spark between them.

The idea of the story was beautiful.

It was okay. I didnt feel that the problems of the couple, which stemmed from not communicating, was grounds enough for the heroine to just give up on her marriage and walk out without a word. She threw in the towel without really trying.

The Hero was unusually closed up and didnt talk about his past, which turned out to be not that traumatic anyway. He didnt get along with his rich dad and the ambitions the dad had for him... so boo hoo 🙄 He didnt speak to and of his parents for years and essentially cut all ties.

The heroine feels betrayed when she had always assumed the Hero was an orphan like her. Then she finds out, from his grandmother, that he has parents he is estranged from who he never even mentioned to her. She is so upset that she leaves him without even asking for an explanation! Smacks of giving up for no good cause.

They’ve been divorced for 2 years when the story starts, she gets into an accident and the Hero rushes to her side to take care of her.

Both of them were nice decent people. They still love each other but have to work on the trust, communicating issue. The whole conflict and reason for their separation is so contrived and insubstantial that there was no true angst nor growth.

No OW OM. Its an ok read if you have nothing else and are taking a break from some of the trainwreaks out there.

3.5 stars ⭐️. I think it was sweet I liked the way the book went back 5 years and gave you real time events instead of referrals or flashbacks. It was a little predictable but I liked it. My only criticism is that I think there should have been angst and Greg's father changed n awful lot for realism.

It was ok, I liked hero and that he could acknowledge to himself he loved heroine still and didn't have plans of revenge for leaving him. I also loved that hero did not sleep with anyone else during their almost 2 year divorce. Heroine was ok but wasn't my favorite, I thought she could have tried to get through to hero before divorcing him. P.

4 ½ Stars! ~ Ms Broadrick is a master for creating characters that touch your heart. Greg and Sherri are divorced, but Greg was always stumped as to what had happened to make Sherri leave. Once Sherri put Greg out of her life all she wanted was to distance herself and find some peace to heal her broken heart. A horrendous car accident brings Greg back into her life. And this time he's determined to figure out what went wrong. I read this one cover to cover non-stop! A real gem.

This is actually one of my favorite silhouette authors, but I think this one pales in comparison to her earlier work.
