Interview with the Author Q - So, what makes the Leopold Blake series special?
A - It's a mix of things, really. When I set out to write these books, I wanted to create something that mirrored exactly the kind of books I like to read. My top picks are usually private detective novels, any of the thousands of thrillers and mysteries best sellers, and, of course, books featuring your classic pulp heroes. Basically, anything with a kick-butt attitude and fast-paced style gets my vote.
The Leopold Blake books are a great mix of these genres. You'll find the series focuses on the mystery and thriller / private detective genre overall, with a couple of financial thrillers thrown in for good measure, some political thrillers, and a serial killer novel or two to keep things interesting!
Overall, the Leopold Blake series is designed to keep you turning the pages - and I've made sure there's never a dull moment.
Q - What order should I read the books in?
A - I’ve written the series so you can read the books in any order, and all the story threads will tie up nicely by the time you're finished. If you do want to read them in order, I'd suggest the following sequence:

Ultimately, readers who enjoy lightning-fast pacing with a plot that twists and turns all the way to the end will get a kick out of this series.

Nick Stephenson was born and raised in Cambridgeshire, England and will now refer to himself in the first person. My approach to writing is to hit hard, hit fast, and leave as few spelling errors as possible. I write thrillers, suspense novels, and the occasional witty postcard, all of which are designed to get your pulse pounding. Don’t let my headshot fool you – I’m actually full colour, on most days.
My books are a mixture of mystery, action, and humour. If you’re looking for a good place to start, take a look at my Leopold Blake series of thrillers, available now at www.noorosha.com/books and out soon on Amazon, Sony, Barnes & Noble, and the iTunes store.
'Fallen' is another great example of Nick Stephenson's awesome series featuring Leopold Blake. Well written and was brilliantly thought through. The storyline is fast paced, humorous, full of action and thrilling to the point of not being able to put this book down. This story held quite a few twists and turns. And as always, the star of the series, Leopold, seems to get himself and others into some tricky situations. I love the characters. Leopold, Jerome and Mary are definitely some of my favorite personalities. The close calls that involved them were intriguing. The 'Leopold Blake Thriller' series is one of my favorites. I look forward to reading the next novel. Each book should be on your tbr list. Highly recommended.
"Fallen" is a super charged hold on for a wild ride adventure. The sixth in author Nick Stephenson's Leopold Blake thriller series. Leopold is summoned to D.C. by FBI Director Richard Ward at break neck speed on a national security matter. Upon arriving in D.C. Leopold is brought face to face with his long missing and presumed dead father, Robert. Robert is locked up in a cell from the FBI's Level zero holding area. Robert wants to destroy Leopold as well as the country in an elaborate scheme. NYPD Detective Mary Jordan must work with her sister Kate to crack the elder Blake's scheme domestically. Leopold and Jerome fly to Shanghi to get some intel on the triads who are also involved. It seems the Robert Blake has assembled a team of mercenaries headed up by a Colonel Joseph Hawkes. Hawks was a 30 year veteran of the USMC but forced into retirement after battle fatigue and mental trauma. Hawkes has assembled a band of killers who don't mind dying for the cause. Mary and her sister Kate stumble upon a barn that has some very sophisticated bombs. The bombs are dirty bombs and very powerful. Leopold and Jerome arrive back in the States bringing Asian CIA handler Isabel Kane. Hawkes blows up the barn when it's found out Mary had discovered it. However the gang have more than was thought possible on a ship in docks. Eventually everyone meets up at the ship in an epic gun battle that leaves no one safe. It's a very fast paced and hyper action storyline to follow. This thriller flies through the pages at warp speed to it's conclusion. The characters, as usual, Mary, Leopold, and Jerome are fantastic. Even the bad guys like Robert Blake, and Hawkes come alive off the pages ! If you haven't dipped into author Stephenson's Leopold Blake series you're missing a real treat. They are outstanding action thrillers with some very colorful characters to be sure. If you read the Leopold Blake series, I'd recommend you save "Fallen" for last. The odds nad end make more sense in that way. 5 stars out of 5 for this action thriller. A sure fire action adventure worth taking. Don't miss out, you'll be sorry.
This novel reminded me of those overloaded trucks you see on highways in Mexico with a very high center of gravity. One wrong move and there is another cross on the side of the highway. Or that overstuffed chair at grandmas that is past its prime: lumpy and not all that comfortable.
The book just had too too many things going on. Whole sections (such as the Singapore excursion) had little to do with moving the plot forward. I skipped pages of descriptions and dialogue with little effect on comprehension. The book is in serious need of professional editing.
And, frankly, the characters weren't all that likable. The female detective (Jordan) was overly emotional, given to fits of rage and temper tantrums. What's with that? A British stereotype? Women in America today, especially professionals, don't act like that, couldn't get away with acting like that and any man who said they acted like that would be kicked in the gonads.
So, this review is more of an acknowledgement that I finished the book. You have been warned.
Wow, wow and WOW! What a fantastic book. Had all the answers to questions I've had since the first book. And what an ending. Hope there are more books to come. Love Leopold, Jerome and Mary. Also hope that if there are more books, Agent Kane will be included. The dialog between her and Mary was a hoot. Maybe a little competition there, although Kane wouldn't admit it. All in all, a very satisifying read all around. And a very satisifying series.
I have thoroughly enjoyed the series, not taxing or heavy going but a good story, well told. This one, the conclusion, has a good plot and characters and nearly ends the series.
You people should just read this novel yourselves and write your own review on this novel yourselves and I really enjoyed reading this novel very much so. Shelley Ma
i really liked the main character! his innocence and bravery are a wonderful contradiction! his love interest is just the opposite and somehow the story works. loved the bodyguard also!
Fallen is book 5 in the "Private Investigator Series of Crime and Suspense Thriller" by Nick Stephenson. Leopold Blake takes a back seat to Mary Jordan who seems to be the stronger character in this story. Presumed for dead, Leopold goes into hiding and is at the mercy of others as he tries to figure out who and why he was targeted. Mary takes the lead in the investigation as she works against time to stop the terrorist attack on NYC.
Mr. Stephenson is becoming a great storyteller. Fallen is more cohesive and better developed than some of the previous books in this series (though I recommend using a technical editor to catch the more obvious errors). My kudos to him as he creates an intriguing web. It's fun to see the story untangle.
The tension of almost having been killed and the resulting separation moves the relationship between Leopold and Mary forward. At last. I'm looking forward to seeing if this relation continues in the next story.
If you are a fan of Leopold Blake, you'll like this story.
The start of this book is almost to a letter a reproduction of episode one of season one of The Blacklist, yes an agency change. Yes a son and not a daughter but for more than half the book it felt as if I were reading the script to a very famous tv show. Not bad if you consider I adore the show although the part the main protagonists plays in the story is pathetic....
So well written, well edited. Cool name, catchy cover but seriously, watch episode one of the tv show and save hours of reading. I waited and waited and waited for an original plot line....none came.
Romance amidst a terrorist plot. A dead father resurrected who cares for nothing but revenge against the CIA/FBI wrongs to him. He would even let his son die. Throw in some interesting characters from the FBI and an evil Delta team with the bad guy and the details of the plot keep you engaged. The romance between the Sherlock Holmes type hero and his police department girl friend will be back. Good enough for another read.
I loved this book, I love this series. I will say that I think Stephenson needs to stop promoting that the books can be read in any order though! I read Fallen as the fifth book in the series. You really, REALLY don't get to enjoy the build up of the pro/epilogues if you were to read this one say, second. Also without spoiling, character relationships won't grow the same way or feel as satisfying. Anyway, thought it was great, will definitely read more!
I took a break from the Leopold Blake series to read oth3r books and I'm glad I came back. This was a really good book and answered some of the questions that have surfaced in all the other novels. The book kept me on the edge most of the time and the last 10-15% had me turning pages. I couldn't put the book down until I got to the end. Definitely worth the read and a great addition to the series. I'm hoping there will be more in the series.
while it got confusing in some parts, overall it was a turn paging thriller. it had a couple of main plots and a main terrorist plot to destroy NewYorkCity and put its residents in a major panic. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for a good thriller read.
It seems that these books are getting better and better. I'm really growing fond of Leopold. Plenty of action; likeable hero, likeable secondary characters, horrible villains: what more could you want? I rated this one 4.8 stars.
A quick read and lots of action. My second Leopold Blake thriller and I don't really care whether I read any others. I found the portrayal of the FBI Director totally unrealistic...no senior executive of such a large organization would talk, act, or behave this way.
Good story but a little convoluted at times. It amazes me that someone can keep all the facts in line. One big goof though. In one of the later chapters Kane is referred to as "HE". Searching on Kane should find it.
Fast paced, well written story with likeable characters. A very entertaining series best read in order even though the books do stand alone. I look forward to the next release by Nick Stephenson.
Once again I was reading when I should have been sleeping. This whole series has been that way for me, intensely holding my interest, even when I should be sleeping or doing something else. Now I anxiously wait for the next adventures of Leopold.
Maybe I should blame my tall expectations. The book seemed a product of too contrived a plot to digest, half-baked characters, and dull and dreary writing, so much so that it made me check out the author's name several times.
Leopold's past comes back to haunt him in this fast-paced thriller. Mostly taking place in NYC, Blake is working against the clock and an enemy that's too close to home. If you enjoyed others in this series, this is not to be missed.
