Ella was mostly on her own in this one, but also not. I loved that her mentor from early in her career called her for help and how they worked together. They slowly worked the case, often finding things, but they didn't go any where or connect. Once they had one vital piece of info, it all came together, the why and the who. That part was sad in a way, on so many levels. It was nice that things came out, that the "bad guys" were punished, but also it really didn't have to happen, if not for one selfish act.

Ella is back at her origins to help her old mentor, Jim, to find the killer who is murdering people and staging the corpses in the exact same way as killings happened 15 years prior. The culprit leaves no leads, and he is on a killing spree that will culminate on Jim's kidnap and almost death. Ella will uncover the motives that lead to the actions taken by the killer who had also been a victim when very young. The story ends in a cliffhanger as Ella discovers that Lindsey Doyle, another serial killer who she is pursuing and who is, in fact, also targeting Ella might be in her house and with her boyfriend.
