The story is great if you can ignore the editing failures. The main character is likable, and the plot is compelling. However, proofreading is definitely lacking. The errors throughout the book include confusing character names by exchanging them for a paragraph or two, mixing names by giving one's surname to another's given name, or just spelling a name differently at different points. Mixing pronouns is another constant, as well as misspellings that end up being actual words, so that spellchecker doesn’t pick up on them. All that being said, I still enjoyed the story, but I definitely recommend the audio version because less of the oversight is noticeable when you can't see the text.
Say a Prayer has a good plot and I enjoy reading the stories built for Alison Payne, however, this book has quite a few editing mistakes that it seems it has not been revised at all the reason why I'm giving it 3 stars. Alison is asked to visit an inmate who claims she has information on her sister's murder. What she'll learn is that the inmate does not have the information she claimed to have and that whoever was giving the few elements she was able to tell Alison was, in fact, kidnapping women who had worked with to punish her. I thank the author for this ARC.
