I won this book as part of a Goodreads giveaway. When I get a new cookbook, I try to be as committed to trying as many recipes as possible, and this has been no exception. While I have only gotten through a couple dozen so far, I've been impressed with the simplicity of these healthy dishes, as well as the generous portions. No deprivation here, and for minimal calories! I like how the recipes highlight what they are useful for (heart, bones, immunity, etc) and that there are multiple plans to follow based on your goals. I haven't had a chance yet to commit to any of the plans completely, but I've noticed an improvement in how I feel when working in several of these recipes a week. I have even impressed my friends with sneaky vegetable based desserts (beetroot brownies and avocado mousse). I highly recommend this cookbook to anyone looking to make positive changes to their diet.

MASSIVE COOKBOOK ALERT. Massive!!! So much in this, and so bloody heavy, too... would not recommend carrying it home from the library on public transport haha. But there is definitely A LOT in here to read, try and enjoy - it really is a cooking bible. I've tried a few of the recipes in here (not to the letter because I'm not about that life) but they've worked out really well so far.

Disclaimer: I received a copy of this book for review purposes.

There’s nothing like cracking open a new cookbook and getting the feeling that you can’t decide what to make first because all the recipes look so appealing. This book gives me that feeling.

This really is a bible of a book, with over 200 recipes included. It’s clearly laid out and easy to navigate, a real plus in a cookbook with this much content. Since this arrived in the post I've got stuck in and made several recipes, all of which have turned out well and most importantly, has been delicious - the grilled salmon with ginger & garlic went down a hit in my house, and breakfast feels much more appealing now I'm having homemade granola with pears rather than a gulped cup of coffee (well, plus a gulped cup of coffee - some things never change). I am lazy about sourcing specialist ingredients and so far I haven’t run into an ingredient which wasn’t already in my store cupboard or easily found in the local supermarket. While it would be nice if each recipe had a picture - I can’t be the only one who only ever cooks recipes with an alluring image - the photography is clear, clean and inspirational.

If that's the "Bible" part of the book, the "Detox" section focuses on food as a route to improve your overall health and detox your body. There have been many healthy cookbooks released this year which discuss how to adjust your shopping and eating habits for long-term diet success, but with Detox Kitchen Bible the food takes centre stage and the detail is there if you need it, not the other way around. Nutritional information from consultant nutritionist Rob Holden is at the back of the book, allowing you to dip in and out as needed, focus in on specific areas of your health, or indeed leave this aside and just pick out recipes which appeal to you. A nice touch is that if you are interested, each recipe is neatly tagged with the areas of health it is most beneficial for. I particularly liked the series of mini meal plans aimed at specific health concerns, from insomnia to poor digestion.
