Rate this book
In a world reborn from nuclear devastation, where gods are dead and immortals reign, one outcast girl’s curse may be the key to humanity’s salvation—or its undoing.

Adisha Corvin, marked by her parents' forbidden love and haunted by visions of a lost civilization's fiery end, is thrust into peril on her wedding night when a jealous rival accuses her of witchcraft. Her former life in literal flames, she finds herself suddenly in the care of the enigmatic Lord Esmund Garrett, an immortal with the face of a youth and memories of a world destroyed. Within the shadowed halls of his ancient castle, Esmund and Adisha uncover a dark legacy that could either free humanity - or doom it. With a long-buried danger awakening and the world on the brink of war, Adisha must master her powers while Esmund learns to face the truth of his heritage before everything they love is consumed by fire once again.

This post-apocalyptic beauty-and-the-beast-meets-Anne-Rice tale has it all; the romance and mystique of Shadow and Bone, the raw brutality of the Hunger Games, the post-apocalyptic fight for survival of Maze Runner, and features a whole new and unique vampire who is guaranteed to redefine the vampire genre for a whole new generation of bloodsucker fans! This trilogy with releases due each April will culminate in the massive, final battle for the soul of Fifth World. Will humans gain the right to self-determination? Will Visitants face genocide? Can tyrants and fallen heros find redemption? And can Adisha find her place in the new world to come? Find out!

“Other dwellings glowed warmly through the veil of rain, the golden flicker of candles or low fires peeking through the edges of closed doors and fastened windows.”

It’s been a while since I’ve read anything in this genre. I was very entertained

Trigger Warnings⚠️
🖤Death and Blood
🖤SA and mention of it after
🖤Mention of cannibalism though does not happen on page

A vampire in a post apocalyptic world with a woman who is of special blood but thought of to be a witch by others. It's a slow burn in my opinion but it's one of the ones that keeps you hooked and reading. Elizabeth is able to paint such vivid scenes. The MCs are amazing. I can't wait to see the development of them all and how it turns out. I have a diverse taste in the books I read and honestly I have not read a book like this which made it all the better. The historical aspects of the book are so good and well written as well.
