Quick and mostly fun read about one of my favorite subjects, pups! This short story collection included nine different "tails". Any dog owner will enjoy the majority of them. The first two are funny, as they cover dogs that hate the vet and/or a bath. The third is a sweet reminder of how an old dog can get a second "leash" on life. when a youngster is introduced into the mix. The fourth dips into a heroic dog that saves his owner's life and also gives that owner a new community to grow into. Then we get to the fifth, which covers the absolute worst day in any dog owner's life. Making the decision to have your pup cross the rainbow bridge. I basically sobbed through this one. Story six is where things started to break down a bit for me, it covers a police dog and was a bit out of place and also quite unrealistic. The next one, is about adding a puppy to a two-kid household, it was okay. The eighth one ramped back up a bit with a pup that helped an older woman overcome her loneliness. The final installment used a dog's POV as he found his forever home. Some of the stories were total winners and a few seemed to be just fillers. But for a short read, this one gets about 3.75, rounded up to a 4.
