She must protect the apocalypse scroll, or else the world will come to a fiery end. No pressure or anything. Crystal sorceress Dru Jasper has become the unwilling guardian of an ancient instrument of destruction. Its world-ending power is held in check by only a single wax seal.
Which seems like maybe a huge design flaw, but whatever.
Now insidious spirits who can kill by touch are trying to get their clutches on the apocalypse scroll and break the final seal.
To stop them, Dru needs a rare crystal older than the Earth itself. But it’s hidden in a meteorite crater deep in the desert, and the wraiths are right on her tail.
One by one, her friends are losing their magical powers to the wraiths’ life-draining evil. The fate of the world now hangs in the balance.
Outnumbered and on the run, her only hope is to unearth the secrets of a magical city lost in the fiery depths of the netherworld—and hope the forces of darkness don’t get there first.
Can Dru rescue her friends and safeguard the scroll forever, before the wraiths break the final seal and trigger doomsday?
Packed with fast-paced fantasy action, romance, laughs, and a uniquely fascinating crystal magic system, Forever and a Doomsday is perfect for fans of Annette Marie, Heather G. Harris, Lindsay Buroker, Isa Medina, K. M. Shea, and Kenley Davidson.

I really liked the first three books in this series, and the fourth book was as good or better than those. I give it a hearty recommendation for people who like urban fantasy, funny books that have good tension-filled plots, and stories featuring strong female characters.
The fourth book in the Dru Jasper series finds the crystal sorceress main character, Dru, trying to have a romantic date with her boyfriend, Greyson, who is a nice guy despite being possessed by a demon who is a Horseman of the Apocalypse driving a car that is itself possessed by a speed demon intended to carry the Horseman all the way to Doomsday. The date is interrupted by Dru's attempt to bring food to Salem, an arrogant goth who happens to be a powerful sorcerer who was injured in the events of book 3 of the series, and of course the group (including Salem's girlfriend and Dru's BFF, Rane) gets attacked by supernatural enemies that turn out to be the wraiths of the Harbingers, the group of sorcerers from the 1960s who tried to break the seals on the Apocalypse Scroll to bring about Doomsday, eventually leading to the events of all 4 books in this series. Dru has to find ways to heal both Salem and Rane from supernatural injuries, avoid being killed by incorporeal magic-wielding baddies, and maybe just take a descent into Hell to end the threat posed by the Scroll for good, all the while wondering if her boyfriend and his car are going to turn against her at any moment.
I really like the characters in this series. Dru's bookish and non-confrontational, but brave and resourceful and able to overcome her fears. Greyson's a manly dude into cars and leather jackets, but he's also emotionally honest and supportive of Dru in everything she does, even when she doesn't necessarily believe in herself. The supporting cast of Rane, Salem, Opal, Ruiz, and even Ember are all funny and interesting additions to the story -- although I'm not going to lie, I'm waiting for the passage where the author describes in minute detail how Dru slaps Salem for being arrogant, unappreciative, and condescending. The bad guys are even scarier in this book than in the others, and the obstacles Dru's crew has to hurdle to stop Doomsday are even more harrowing. This novel seemed to wrap up the Apocalypse Scroll Doomsday storyline, but I'm hoping that MacNaughton finds a way to keep the books featuring this group going with some new multi-novel arc, because I genuinely enjoy reading these books, and I think the characters are just getting to their "Avengers assemble" point of becoming a real team.
There were some minor writing issues that I noticed, but that didn't distract too much. There were quite a few instances of present-tense words (like "now" and "tonight") used in the narrative, even though it's written in past tense, and I may be the only one who notices this, but it's like nails on a chalkboard to me. There were some split infinitives and pronoun disagreements and a couple of other small issues. But overall, the read was smooth and fun, and I didn't feel like throwing the book at the wall due to the author's mistakes, as so often happens these days. I enjoy MacNaughton's writing style in general, and his dialogue patter should be taught to sitcom writers because it makes me laugh out loud multiple times in each novel.
As I said above, I'm really hoping this series continues with another plotline, because I don't want these characters to go away. I strongly recommend this book and the others in this series for a fun modern fantasy read.
Thanks to Pyr (and my Book Fairy) for providing me with a copy of this book.
I really enjoyed this fourth book of the Dru Jasper Doomsday series. It feels really fresh but still has the same great characters to hang out with from the first three books. The characters are developed even more in this novel, and they feel like old friends by the end. The story has all the action, humor, monsters, and creepy locations I've come to expect from the series. The world gets fleshed out even more, and the ending kept me guessing till the very end. I recommend all the books in the series!
What a ride this whole series was! Dru and her friends work together to bring an end to the impending Doomsday. There has been some crazy ups and downs. Evil and foes being thwarted. This story was a fun and thrilling ride. All the way to the end. These characters have grown on me and if this is the last book, it will be hard to say goodbye. Especially to my girl Rane. If you’re a fan of urban fantasy, I highly recommend checking out this series. It’s a fun read and you’ll enjoy it! I give this 5 stars.
OK - overall the series was a nice, easy read. It's well written and edited perfectly. The thing that keeps my rating as a three is that the same conversations and conflicts occur in every book. The FMC doesn't learn from the mistakes she makes and it is frustrating enough to sour how I feel about the character. Did you have a huge problems finding your tools/crystals in book one and continue to have the same problems in book 4? That's distracting.
This is the fourth book in the Dru Jasper series and I'm still loving these characters and their stories. Once again they are trying to stop the apocalypse. They are fighting wraiths and demons and various evils to try and save the world while also trying to have normal lives. These books are so fun to read. I can't wait for the next one.
This was a great follow up to the first three titles in the Dru Jasper series. I loved seeing the characters again and the flow of this one. It was even better than book one through three and these just keep getting better. I want more stories in this series. This was a great story that kept me at the edge of my seat until the very last page. It was a fun read to sit back and enjoy.
