ZEPCE, August 1993

Follow the highly dramatic story of two cousins, Angus McCloud and Ryan Reilly, who were incredibly close in their youth. However, a rather disastrous childhood incident involving their Great-uncle Simon's vintage bi-plane sends each boy on separate journeys into military academies.

ANGUS...
As a young lad with fiery red hair and a temper to match, Angus always struggled to find his place in the world. He hoped that after being sent away to a London military academy, he would be able to prove himself and bury his inner demons. However, it becomes evident that the academy is not for him, so at sixteen, Angus enlists in the British Army, hoping to find redemption and purpose.
Yet, over his lengthy military career, which brings him to the age of thirty-three, his penchant for trouble continues to follow him, casting doubt on his ability to conform to societal norms.

RYAN...
Meanwhile, as a youth, Ryan thrives at the military academy in Manchester, finally feeling like he belongs among ambitious peers striving to become successful officers in the British Army, something which he obtains as he turns from boy to man. However, despite his newfound sense of purpose, Ryan remains haunted by thoughts of his troubled cousin, Angus, leaving him feeling torn by loyalty to family and his own aspirations for military advancement.

MANY YEARS LATER...
As Angus and Ryan, now grown men, navigate their respective paths, their lives intersect once more amidst the chaos of the 1990s Bosnian War. Angus, now a Staff Sergeant under his cousin Ryan's command as Lieutenant of his platoon, faces a momentous decision when he encounters Katja, a young Croatian girl stranded in the war-torn landscape. Torn between duty and compassion, Angus must choose whether to follow his cousin's strict orders or heed the dictates of his conscience.

'SURROUNDED BY CONFLICT' is a gripping tale of resilience, redemption, and the enduring bonds of family and duty. Set against the backdrop of conflict and moral ambiguity, it explores themes of sacrifice, loyalty, and the transformative power of human connection in the face of adversity.

Hello, everyone, and welcome to my author's profile. I'd like to take a moment to introduce myself to you.

I am the author of a Historical Fiction series titled The Bentley Family Adventures. Included in this series: Where Are You Mary? The Return Of Mary, Simon, Where Are You? The Story Of Ms. Gertie King, Let Me Paint Away Your Scars, The Bent Kings, The Yellow Feather Ranch, The Lives Of My Kin and Lost Forever In Broken Memories.

I have also created a second series in 2024 that includes The Secret Life of Katherine Duckworth and Stepping Forward into the Past. With this new series, I am branching away from historical fiction into a more modern era and challenging myself to tackle tougher subjects. I hope you will give them a read, and please leave a review to give me your feedback.

These novels can be found on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Walmart. I hope you will take the time to read them. I do believe they will take you on an amazing journey through the lives of the Bentley Family and just how each of them deals with extenuating circumstances beyond their control.
ABOUT ME:
The love of reading and writing has followed me since I was a young girl. Stories of far-off places and characters have always filled my imagination. Now, at this stage of my life, I have found the confidence and the desire to bring those stories to the world. It is my hope that meeting the characters in my books will cause you to grow to love them just as I did while writing about them.

I am a proud mother of three adult children, for whom I write these books. Why? To show them that no matter your age, you should always pursue your dreams and never leave them in the dark.

Most of all, I must say that my stories are 'wholesome' and revolve around the love of family and the dedication we must take to preserve that entity.

Thank you for taking the time to read, and may God bless you all.

This is the third book in A New Generation of Bentleys and Kings. This was an excellent written story of a soldier's (Angus) sense of morality verses duty. He took it upon himself to ensure a very young girl got to safety after her family was killed. It delves into the consequences of his decision to do the moral thing and not what his commanding officer wanted him to do. Highly recommend. Virtual narration was decent.
