Ever faced a situation, where you realize that you’re not the main protagonist in your own life? It may not be as astonishing as the fact that I have the ability to metamorphose into an animal, or the fact that I know very less about the history of my species, thanks to my shady parents. It’s even less appalling than learning that most of the members of my species are hell bent at snatching one of the most important things in my life, which ironically has become important to me in just a matter of days. And it is certainly bound to be less depressing than knowing that my ancestor’s enemy is ready to exceed to great lengths to eliminate my family from the face of the earth. And, of course, let’s not forget that it is less surprising than the fact that my life partner has been discovered to be a guy, the same gender as I. But still, nothing compares to the shock that I face, when I learn that anything significant occurring in my life is not centered around me at all.
At first its a little big worded and the sentence structures aren't always perfect. Often there are words in the wrong place in the sentence. Sometimes there are even superfluous words. And some words I read here I never knew existed. However if you can get passed all that, this is an AMAZING book. It has really intricate world building and character and scene descriptions are on point. I cannot wait for the next book, I am so excited to see where the adventures of Josh and Neal take them!! I am also looking forward to all the secondary characters and seeing how their stories are playing out!! The Lichinsky family interactions is one you won't want to miss! If you can look past the sentence issues it truly is a book worth reading. Don't pass it up!!
This was definitely not for me. Too pretentious with a lot of rambling and the use of "big words" making the language less than smooth. It just felt like the author was aiming for the Nobel prize, not towards telling an interesting story. A story that might have been very interesting if not drenched with too many adjectives and painting descriptions.
However, I see there are people who enjoyed the book so it might just be me....
