Mainstream society clings to the idea of religion as the divine power and voice in life and death. Organized religion plays a significant part in the lives of many. But, sometimes religious traditions are broken or love falls outside of the prescribed coupling of man and woman, or judgements begin to be placed on material possessions. “Divinely Timed” by Grecia Chasteen is the story of Nadia’s journey to spirituality.

“Divinely Timed” has a powerful opening. Set as Nadia is gearing up to take the stage in front of a cheering crowd, readers are shown a woman, clearly adored by those who have come to see her, voicing her fears and insecurities. From there readers are then walked back to the beginning of Nadia’s journey. A lonely woman from a young age looking for ways to engage and receive love and affection. Nadia is open in her desire to find a woman who will love her. She shares her journey through friends and partners as she self-reflects and learns more about spirituality and what that means to her.

As a reader, I found myself learning right alongside Nadia. Author Grecia Chasteen did a great job of walking readers through the mind of our main character as we followed her in her own journey of discovery. Beginning with a psychic on the streets of New York with her readings tucked amongst a small room just off the main street, she was apprehensive but went along with it. From there her learning and understanding slowly grew.

Throughout this read I enjoyed how Chasteen shows us Nadia’s own process of learning and discovery. Opening her life and journey to show us the good, the bad, and the ugly, from toxic partners to all consuming lust. Even showing us when Nadia turned to Google to understand meditation, or conversations regarding soul traveling and astral projection. Taking to heart readings telling her to search out a Leo, or understanding the seven chakras, nothing was off limits on this journey and self-discovery.

“Divinely Timed” by Grecia Chasteen left me digging deeper into the author’s background, looking to understand more about the things I learned within. I find this book was aptly named for my own journey as I open myself to more spirituality outside of the mainstream religion we’ve come to know.

Grecia Chasteen’s Divinely Timed is a tender and introspective novel that delicately traces the contours of a young woman’s search for meaning. This is not a story of grand external adventures, but of the quiet, often disorienting, internal pilgrimage toward wholeness. With empathy and grace, Chasteen invites readers into Nadia’s world as she turns over the stones of religion, love, and spirituality, seeking the answer to a persistent sense of absence.

Nadia is a relatable and thoughtfully crafted protagonist. Her yearning is palpable, a quiet engine that drives her from one potential source of fulfillment to the next. Chasteen sensitively explores how this search can feel both urgent and circular, a universal experience that will resonate with anyone who has ever questioned their path or purpose. The novel’s strength lies in its honest portrayal of this quest, acknowledging that the answers we seek are rarely where we first think to look.

The narrative’s promise of “unexpected twists and turns” is fulfilled in a way that feels organic to Nadia’s character development. The discovery she makes is less about a dramatic external event and more about a profound internal shift, a re-framing of her entire journey. This reflective approach makes the story’s climax one of subtle revelation rather than shock, which is perfectly suited to its spiritual and introspective themes.

Chasteen’s prose is clear and heartfelt, creating an atmosphere that is both contemplative and engaging. The pacing mirrors the sometimes-meandering, sometimes-suddenly-clear process of self-discovery itself.

Divinely Timed is a moving debut that sits at the intersection of contemporary fiction and spiritual literature. It is a gentle reminder that the search for purpose is sacred, that our timing is rarely our own, and that what we are missing may ultimately be a deeper connection to the self we are becoming. A thoughtful and comforting read for anyone on their own path to understanding.
