The Farm #2

Behind the Curve: Book 2: Behind the Curve - The Farm, Book 2

Securing their sanctuary

The Sheriff's Department is forced to hand the investigation of the bones to the state police. The case has become too big for the department to investigate alone. The group complies and tries their best to mend fences within the law enforcement community and the neighbors. Surprisingly, their generosity is much appreciated.

A man with a heart set on revenge

As the virus ravaged US businesses, the effects could be felt all the way down to the supermarket. The USDA and FDA started imposing purchasing limits on essentials, especially food. They have volunteered to buy any excesses that do not get sold while they attempt to stop people from "hoarding" food and necessities so they can be redistributed to those in greater need.

A President who had enough

With the POTUS's proclamation that Antifa and those who would loot and burn down the country be arrested, the violence only intensified. Agent Sullivan and Jake Kendricks both have their shots at the Langtry farm, who just will not comply. Will their efforts work, or will they be behind the curve?

The plot thickens. What's next?

Although this book is fiction, the premise isn't. That is why books like The Farm scare me. People have a choice of where they live and how they live their lives. It is not the government/politicians right to force people to give up their individualism and what America is based on "capitalism".

A subplot of The Farm is greedy politicians and Socialism based more on Animal Farm where all men are created equal, just some more equal than others....the difference? One is what could happen. In Boyd Craven's series, I see the situations can and most likely take place....but he lightens up the situation with a bit of romance, a fun quasi-mouthy kid and DOGS. Now.... Combine everything together and you get a entertaining book that you read and can imagine 'what would I do differently? Can I do that? What's going to happen next?
Write faster.... this series needs to finish quickly so readers will know how to prepare .

Favorite quote:
“What are the first three words of the constitution, you piece of filth?” Ella May shrieked at the agents. “We the people—” “And we the people told you enough is enough. Now get out of here, before we really put a hurting on you.”

Simple story but predictable. Cringe dialogue.

The story itself isn't bad but you put a bunch of top 5 percenters on a farm that seem to have the answer to any problem except how to deal with a new government order establishment. The worst thing about this novel is reading the cringe dialogue between the women and men relationships of husband and wife. The women are written as she bosses, and the men seem to be very submissive to them. That doesn't make the story bad it's the repetitive insulting puts Downs better disguised as domestic relationship kidding.
It's not a bad story but it's a bit predictable with new bad guys popping up as needed.
There's no real surprises here and it's a an airport read at best. The story is a bit forgettable so.... Hard to recommend unless you have nothing else.

Everyone Will Enjoy This Book

This series just keeps getting better. The plot line follows many events taking place today.. I would hope our government would never stoop to attacking our own people.
Again, our group only wants to live in peace and help those in their community. They are the good guys but meet with continued resistance. The community is pulling together. We still do not know what is planned after the election.
There are humorous parts among the threats and violence.
The storyline moves along and is very interesting. It is a different approach to an apocalypse story.
Don't miss this one!

The group is firmly placed at their farm. The farm is becoming productive and more than self sustaining. The government, however, is stepping up it's control game and making moves to seize more private property from the local producers. USDA "agents" illegally begin to seize property from aa local farmers market. When they take it all the market closes and moves to the private farm. Not willing to be outsmarted, the government starts exerting itself as an anything-goes gang of bandits. In an odd turn, old skeletons are turning up in a cave system below the farm.

What a book

I’ve read the first book and this one. These books were so good they grabbed you from the beginning and I just couldn’t stop reading I couldn’t wait for the next one to come out there very fast paced it really reminded me of what’s going on now but everybody on the farm handle this in a way that I also brought a lot of laughter to while situation which helped with what we’re going through in real life. Way to go , another awesome 2 books

Not a happy book

The author has put this book at the bottom of my list of good books. The story line was going along about like other books I have read, but when you bring politics into this, you lost me. I could not finish reading the second book. This book is just another way to divide our country. I enjoy books similar to this as I like the parts that describe prepping and surviving a disaster and over coming the odds. But. Inserting politics was a loser for me.

The Farm Book 2: Behind the Curve Boyd Craven III

Corrupt government officials are confiscating food from farmers markets. Entering farms and threatening to confiscate livestock. Using the pandemic to there advantage. Local police and the Sheriff are standing up against them. The population of this small community has had enough of the lies and deceit. A bigger confrontation is looming on the horizon. Another excellent read in this series!!Enjoyed immensely!!

2020 , nailed it!

What can I say about a book that shows people seek g the worst coming and trying their best to survive, like all of us? Well. Done. Sir. Truly spoken and very well thought out. There were a couple of iffy pages, but I am not sure if that was an editing problem or a Kindle problem. Overall, the book was exciting, well planned details, and almost educational. I look forward to book 3 And the finale.

It's about time that The people in black suburbans and homeland security find out that they don't ru

Constitution states we the people It does not Give federal agency the right to run rampant over the working class person and the farmers in the ranchers. The section Where shows The agents going into refrigerator areas and taking food that they confiscated from People in converting it to their own use was deplorable.

Amazingly Truthful

Love this author and have read all his books. But this series hits closer to home. If you want a glimpse into what is really going on right now read this. It's fiction but for how long? If nothing else it makes you think. Not a bad thing. God bless and keep you safe in this pandemic.

Even better than book one!

The saga of the folks at the farm continues, and the government is getting troublesome. Our heroes are trying to weather the storm and seeing obstacles less at every turn. But they persevere. "We the people" step up to take back their lives.

This book was even better than the last, and I eagerly await the next book.

I could not put it down!!

This was about real characters living in real times. The prepping was great, but the heart of the story was be!liveable folks reacting to a reality we could all face with ingenuity and courage. This series underlines what Americans in rural places can do!

5 stars. As usual, Boyd Craven does not disappoint. Fast paced story, engaging characters, practical advice and enough real life issues included to keep a reader of engaged and wondering “what if.” Most of his books have kept me up reading all night, this is no exception. Hope there is a third book in this series.

Follow through

I thought this book would focus more on the discovered remains with a little side action but nope. The remains were the little side action and the group was again forced to defend the family, farm, and community.
In most stories, the community is the problem initially when things start to run out but the Langtry Farm is pitted against federal agencies with redistribution agendas.

Great story!

I really liked this story because it's a reflection of what is happening now and what can happen if things get worse. Plus it showed what is possible when people pull together with a relatively happy ending. Both books were great! A must read for what's happening now!

Boyd does it again !

Another masterpiece by Boyd Craven ! The characters on "the farm" represent what good patriots are in this current day political climate. Boyd is one of my all time favourite authors and he never disappoints with his books. I can only find one fault with his books, he can't write them as fast as I can read them ! I can't wait for the next one !

Unfortunately, the end result occurred.

Was a little weak with the premise of the rich doctors setting up a farm with all their millions, but the background was incredibly appropriate. The people on the farm fought back and conquered in the end. It's A shame that it doesn't always happen that way in real life.

Great story!

I want a farm just like the one in this book! The story just got better in the second book. It moved right along until the end. There is just one problem. I'm not ready to give up this huge family! I think a third book would be great. You read this and you will see what I mean!

Very entertaining

Not exactly a post apocalyptic story but the longer the story goes the exciting it gets. There’s always been and always will be those in government who make the mafia look like angels but there is always those who are honest public servants. This story has both.

The author evidently had a mean old grandmother. Goldie runs around with a wooden spoon handy to swat people with. Not funny, not endearing. Why is it ok for a grandma to hit people but if grandpa carried a wooden spoon to swat people it would be abuse? The constant repartee among the group gets tiresome also. Otherwise it's an entertaining book for the most part.

Solid Read

The book was good it wasn’t great. There’s one more book in the series and I’m not sure if I’m going to dive right into it. For me the book slowed in the middle forcing me to push through it. I like the characters, I like the story, I appreciate the political views, it was just a little slow to develop. Overall a good read.

the farm

I am enjoying this series , sure wish I had enough money to prepare like they have. It's still a good read , even if it's the states and not Canada, makes you wonder if the police and politicians would go as far ! A bit scary really . All that hard work stolen from you , when you need it the most.

Damnit Boyd

This second book had quite a bit of the authors personality and humor shine through. It was laced with a one liner here and there that any craven fan will surely catch. Great work bringing your characters to life with your little details. This particular series is like living in a parallel world to what could in reality be what we could experience today in real life. Great job Boyd!
