DNF. I find myself being a bit of an outlier these days. Anna Stones novels seem to be incredibly popular, yet, after reading a few of them, I find myself feeling very "ho-hum" as I turn through the pages.
Don't get me wrong, I was pretty enthusiastic when I read the first novel. The second wasn't great (also DNF) but I was okay with her third novel, Her Surrender (IB#2.) However, as I read through this one I came to the realization that there is nothing extraordinarily different about her books to make one stand out from another.
They generally seem to involve a wealthy woman who needs a sub for some bdsm light. There is going to be some minor conflict that I won't care about because the characters don't really jump off the page. Which is probably where my biggest issue with her writing. Each of her characters seems to be cut from a similar mold as the one before. This makes them all somewhat indistinguishable.
Perhaps I'd be more inclined to forgive the lack of characterization if the sex scenes were stellar. But, imho, those are only so-so. I mentioned earlier that this is bdsm light. What I mean by this is what I would consider entry level bdsm erotica. Nothing too explicit or shocking. Additionally, the sex scenes are a bit on the tamer side as well. On a scale of 1 to Meghan O'Brien, I'd maybe give this a 4 on the smut scale.
I didn't finish this novel because I wasn't connecting emotionally to either character and there were other things to read. The writing was fine, however. No complaints there. As I said earlier, I seem to be in the minority concerning this author's books. So, if you have Kindle Unlimited, then I suggest giving her a shot. You may connect better with her writing than I have.
