DNF - an erotic short story without much story development. For me, I am not really interested in the sex scenes if I don’t have some emotional investment in the MCs so moving on.
Idk what I was expecting but it wasn’t 2 women meeting for the first time at a pool, hooking up and then falling in love all within literally 5 minutes..I really need to start reading the synopsis🥲
I’m…. not sure what I was expecting. There wasn’t much development and it all felt forced and expected. It was mainly just sex scenes and then BAM they’re together. The idea of the story was nice, but the execution was really poor. I do think this is partially on me, I should have done more research on the short story.
I enjoy short stories, but there has to be some flow to it, this felt blocky. There could have been a bit more to it.
Nicole and Bree are both on vacation staying in the same hotel, and they meet, and have a hookup which changes into something more. Nicole is about ten years older than Bree, with a young son Adam. This is a fun short novella, a steamy read with a happy ever after ending.
When Nicole went to Hawaii to get her first real break alone, she never imagined the tall, red curly haired girl with the bright green eyes who literally fell into her lap would become an important person to her.
Bree was playing volleyball with her friends and, when the beach ball went astray, called out a warning to the beautiful woman sitting by herself. Much to Bree's dismay, the woman didn't hear her and Bree ran to intercept the ball, only to knock the woman's drink on the pool deck.
Embarrassed at ruining her swimsuit and getting glass all over the concrete, Bree apologizes and offers to take her to dinner. Nicole, the woman she fell on, wonders if Bree is flirting with her.
As Bree and Nicole get cleaned up and ready for dinner, they both agree that mutual flirting is happening. The two women, one a college student and the other a working single Mom of a boy get to know each other, intimately.
To find out all of the juicy details and the obstacles they overcome, as well as the final outcome of their fated meeting, pick up a copy of Poolside Love and read it for yourself.
It was a simple, very fast-paced, insta-love steamy sapphic romance. It took place in Hawaii, where in an all-inclusive hotel, Nicole met Bree. There was a significant age-gap between them. The first one is a working single mom and the other a college student. This short story contains mostly spicy scenes.
The idea in this book could be a very nice full-length novel.
This was fine? It’s 45 pages so I didn’t expect much, and that’s roughly what I got. This short story is some sex scenes (primarily) linked together with some basic plot. There isn’t time to really develop the characters or the plot (or to get into too much sexy detail either), but it’s “fine enough”. What was in the page was done well enough though, so 3 stars.
Far too ambitious for the page count, it should have picked a lane and stayed in it instead of trying to cram the content of a whole novel into 10% of the required page count.
Poolside Love by Shannon O’Connor 🏊♀️💦🌊❤️ Rating: 4/5⭐️
Synopsis: The last thing single mom Nicole expected was to find love on her Hawaiian vacation. All she wanted to do was drink daiquiris, read her dirty book and relax for the first time without her son.
My Overall Thoughts: This was such a quick, easy, short read that has less than 50 pages. So obviously I liked that part of it being that short. It was also a cute and steamy read. Too much spice. Recommend if you’re maybe 18+ to read this. It was also my first LGBTQ+ read but it’s more on the Lesbian side of that community.
This is a short story that packs quite a bit in. Nicole is a single mum working 2 jobs but has saved up to go in a holiday in Mexico. Bree is partying with friends at the same resort. Her birthday is the day after they meet yet strangely it’s not mentioned again. We get an epilogue (a necessity for all books imo) which is sweet and rounds off the story nicely.
This book was quick but surprisingly really well done. It had plenty of spice but also a good plot.
Nicole is on vacation in Hawaii without her son Adam. She's enjoying life at the pool and on the beach when a beach ball hits her. Bree comes over to apologize and cue romance.
Was it insta love? In a way but it's a novella. Was it spicy? Hell yes! But the fact it had an epilogue really made a difference. It showed the growth in their relationship in a short time and worked really well.
Nicole, a single mother of a ten year old, unexpectedly finds lust and love with Bree, a college student, on her Hawaiian vacation. This story is really about a vacation fling that turns into so much more. It's difficult to develop the characters in these short books, but I thought the ending was perfect!
Very fast paced, which was expected for a short story. There wasn't much depth in the characters or any emotional connection between the two because of how short the story was. There also seemed to be a few grammatical mistakes or missing words in sentences which was a little frustrating but I managed.
Overall an interesting concept and I would have loved to have more added to the story
Poolside Love is a super fast-paced FF vacation romance with an age gap and plenty of spice. The chemistry between the leads is sizzling, and the tropical setting adds to the escapism. While the speed of the romance felt a bit rushed at times, it still delivered a satisfying happy ever after. If you’re looking for a quick, steamy read, this one might be for you!
This was a cute and steamy story about a vacation mishap turning into a vacation fling, and maybe something more, for a single mom and an ambitious and dominant college student.
This was a quick fun read. Super spicy & cute! I wish the characters could have had just a little more depth to them though. They felt kind of robotic in a way. The book was also written very clunky & could have used a good proof before being published.
I loved it! It was fast paced since it was a short read but it goes to show how you can find love unexpectedly and how it's just sometimes meant to be. ❤ I thought it was a cute, spicy read and I was happy with the ending. Exactly what I expected from this author. 🙂
Poolside Love: A FF Vacation Romance by Shannon O'Connor I needed romance tissue for this one. Yes, I cried. It is a simple no fooling around romance. I fell in love with both of the women Nicole and Bree. It is just romance at the end of the day.
I read this for a Reading Challenge. It was too short for there to be any kind of proper character development or depth. It ticked the box for my RC but that was all…
I was given this ARC as a freebie with some of Shannon's books as an early birthday gift. Immediately, the spice kicks in between Nicole and Bree and turns steamy! I felt all the emotions—anger, angst, sappiness, love—all of it. And to top it all off, it was the most touching HEA ever!
