This book is based around the main character, Amy Randall, a journalist, and her family. She Lives in Fossickers Gully, a small town in Victoria.

She loves her work at the Gully Standard, the local newspaper, and has bought a wonderful cabin in the bush for its scenic beauty, it's isolation and the peace and serenity it provides. It soothes her soul, and she loves unwinding by running along the many forest trails near her home.

The handsome police officer who she grew up with has come back to town and she has always had a crush on him. Her life is perfect or so she thinks, until one Friday on her way home from work she is confronted by her sister in law Kelly. She is inside Amy's home and wielding a gun pointing straight at Amy. Amy is shocked as even though none of the family like her, she has always been tolerated out of respect for David, their son and brother. Forcing her at gunpoint to the underground tunnels, Amy is shot twice and left for dead.

Kelly is doing this for revenge against all the family and for what she is perceives are many wrongs that have happened to her mother. It has twisted her mind and she wants to destroy them.

Their are many aspects to this novel. It shows the complexity in the family, scandals in the past and blackmail. It is a story of uncovered secrets, lies, intrigue, new discoveries, love and a race against time.

I really enjoyed this book. It is an easy read but is also compelling and enjoyable.
