These stories vary widely, from ridiculous and yet still funny to incredibly tender and touching. I broke out the speed reading tricks to get through only one of them, and that is unusual for somebody who ordinarily has to work to enjoy short story collections.
This is becoming an increasingly devalued consideration, but it still matters me - I don't recall even once having been annoyed by a minor error in usage or even grammar. That was restful.
I'd say yes, read this book, because every reader will find something to love. But be prepared to glide by some, because it's also easy to find something that could cause you to lose interest. That would have been a shame in my case, because my favorite was the last one.
In a Green Dress, Surrounded by Exploding Clowns and Other Stories will grab you with its title, and hold you throughout all 15 of its stories. From life literally driven by social media sabotage, to alien-fighting pirates, to eldritch beings that secretly control the universe, this collection has it all. I was captivated by all the stories in this book, even though I’m usually not a fan of science fiction. There’s action, there’s suspense, there’s heart, and there are so many amazing concepts all throughout the book. I can’t wait to read more by Jeschonek!
This is a collection of inventive, mostly interesting, "weird" short stories. There wasn't anything remarkable in here, but they're mostly good reads.
One comment I will make is the unbelievable overuse of italics. It's like every other word uses italics, which becomes a little bit frustrating. If every word has emphasis, then nothing has emphasis. You know what I mean?
