I really enjoyed reading this book. I think it is a good book about good character development throughout a story that you could use in a lesson with kids. Throughout the book, you see the wolves and the three pigs changing their thinking and becoming loving and accepting of each other. This could also be a good lesson about accepting each other without judgement and realizing that people may not be as bad as they seem. I really enjoyed reading it for the story, and the illustrations were really cute.

Introducing to you the PYGG brothers: James, Marvin and Lester Pygg to be exact. They are not your typical pigs as we find out early on in the book. They are trying to figure out how to build a house of brick. Sound familiar? They discuss building materials such as hay and twigs for speed, but James convinces the other brothers they need a house made out of sturdy bricks to keep them warm and safe. Soon a wolf shows up at their door named Wilfong and demands to come inside. The Pygg brothers refuse him entry. He can't come in? No problem but he can block them from leaving. The stalker wolf, Wilfong, is true to his word and traps the Pygg's inside. Wilfong can't resist hanging around because he has to keep an eye on these guys now lest they escape. As he is ogling their behaviour a strange thing happens. The wolf starts getting involved in the games going on inside albeit in an annoying way. For example when the Pygg's are playing hide and seek Wilfong blabs and tells the other pigs where their brother Lester is hiding, and during a game of cards the wolf blurts out what's in Marvin's hand to the others.

Meanwhile back on the weather front, winter is knocking at the door too. Can you guess whose warm and snuggly and whose starting to shiver and turn blue?....Yep, Wilfong is the loser of the one for sure. The Pygg's, with compassion in their hearts, invite Wilfong inside to thaw out. Was that a wise move on the Pygg brother's part? Will they be safe from the wolf or will they have to make a mad dash for it if he turns the tables on them? Through a series of fortunate events Wilfong proves he can be trusted and protects the Pygg brothers from more menacing wolves who want to attack and eat the piggies up for dinner. This book is funny, entertaining and perfect for a budding reader's first chapter book. The book addresses such themes as friendship, trust, respect and of course acceptance. It rewrites a familiar kid's classic adding modern values plus adds unexpected twists and turns just as you would come to expect from a fractured fairytale. I highly recommend this book.

The Pygg brothers build a sturdy house, and outsmart a hungry wolf (Wilfong). Wilfong, in turn, tries to ousmart them and mostly fails. The Pygg brothers view him as more of a minor annoyance than a threat.
Eventually, the Pygg brothers, James, Marvin, and Lester, come to pity the wolf. They mostly befriend him, but don't fully trust him, as he IS a wolf, and we all know what big, bad wolves do to little pigs!
Wilfong swears that he is reformed, and truly wants to be a part of their lives.
Together, they take a short vacation, which further cements the unlikely friendship.
Back home, the Pyggs and Wilfong are confronted by a hungry, angry pack of wolves. James and Wilfong devise a plan to trick the wolves, and drive them away.
Wilfong carries out the plan with finesse, and earns the Pyggs' full trust.
I've told a great deal, but there is a great deal more to this 46 page, 4 part/chapter story.
The illustrations are great as well.

A spin off of The Three Little Pigs, this wolf begins like any other big bad wolf but after waiting all winter for the three Pygg brothers to come out of their house while listening to their stories and jokes and eating their food, Wilfong the wolf doesn't feel so big and bad anymore. In fact, he sincerely wants to be the pigs friend, but can he convince the Pygg brothers of his reformation?? With humorous illustrations, this is an amusing chapter book that would be great for advanced beginning readers.

I found reading this one to be rather delightful for a first chapter book. It's another silly retelling of The Three Pigs that twists things around. I especially liked the illustrations which had a loose wackiness to them- they're sort of like a more detailed Daniel Pinkwater. Anyway, this was fun and easy and catchy.

A really funny late-beginning reader/early chapter book that turns the tale of the Three Little Pigs on its ear. Some of the pages, scenarios and episodes are more successful than others, but as a whole, this is a good read that introduces new vocabulary and a wry sense of humor.

When the Pygg brothers meet a wolf by the name of Wilfong, adventures ensure. Will Wilfong gain their trust...and should he? My early elementary readers LOVED this book which is not so much a re-telling of the classic tale of the "Three Little Pigs" so much as a "ever after" tale.

A bit bizarre, but a fun new version of the three little pigs and the big bad wolf that should amuse younger readers.

4 1/2 stars. A new twist on the 3 Little Pigs. And so much fun! There was a lot of humor here, and a message without being preachy. An early reader with a very readable story.

This was my 5 year old's forest introduction to chapter books. She really enjoyed it. Added benefit, my 3 year old fell asleep while I read it.
