On Hart's Boardwalk

Rate this book
One of New York Times best-selling author Samantha Young's most beloved couples returns for the first time in a brand new novella set 10 years after her blockbuster best seller Before Jamaica Lane ....

Nate and Liv have a great life together, but they miss the spontaneity and freedom they enjoyed early on in their romance. Careers and their children have inevitably kept them busy, so when Nate discovers Liv is feeling disconnected from him, he plans an anniversary trip to the idyllic seaside town of Hartwell, Delaware. There, he hopes they will have the opportunity they've been craving - a chance to reinvent themselves and fall in love all over again.

With each new day comes a new adventure, from wedding crashing at the five-star boardwalk hotel to pretending they are two strangers having a chance encounter at the boardwalk bar. In the midst of this daring, sexually-charged game of romantic rediscovery, Nate and Liv discover the only constant they need is each other.

“I’ll never stop fighting for you, Liv. Love of my fucking life. We’ll make this right.

Nate and Liv are two of my most favorite Samantha Young characters. In fact, their book is my top favorite of hers. I fell in love with their story and I was so excited to learn we were getting MORE of them. The fact that this novella took place /tied in with Hart’s Boardwalk was just another plus! I loved seeing all these characters interacting!

Nate and Liv have been married over 10 years now and seem to have the perfect life. They love each other, have two beautiful daughters, both have successful careers, and a great group of friend. As much as these two love each other, marriage can be hard work. As any married person will tell you, sometimes it takes a little push, a little something extra to feel connected and in-tune with your partner, and that is exactly what Nate and Liv need.

Nate has a wonderful idea to make this happen- he’s taking Liv to America for vacation. No kids, no work, no distractions. Just the two of them. There, they are able to reconnect, really talk, and fall in love even more than they already are.

What I loved most about this story is that it feels real. Marriage isn’t always hearts and flowers, and Young does a great job of depicting that. Also, it’s always fun to see what has happened to a couple you love in the future. We become so attached, then they get their hea, and we are left to wonder. Nate and Liv are incredible together. I mean, #RelationshipGoals right here. I loved seeing all my favorite characters from both series as well. This novella was equal parts steamy and romantic, and really hit the spot for me! Recommend to any fans of Samantha Young’s On Dublin Street series and/or Hart’s Boardwalk series!

What happens when “Happily Ever After” turns out to be a little trickier than you thought it’d be?

“Because I’ll never stop fighting for you, Liv. Love of my fucking life.” He swiped away my tears. “We’ll make this right.”

When I realized On Hart’s Boardwalk was up for grabs on NetGalley, I jumped at the chance to read it. Before Jamaica Lane is my favorite of the On Dublin Street offerings and I think I’ve read Liv and Nate’s love story at least a dozen times. That being said, I always felt like if any of those couples needed an expanded epilogue, it was these two.

Olivia and Nate have been married for 10 years, most of those blissfully happily. Their two daughters (who I absolutely adored) keep them busy, but they’ve always found a way to make time for each other. Over the course of the past year, things started to change between the two and Liv’s left wondering what to do. Is Nate pushing her away on purpose? Has he met someone else or has he simply fallen out of love with his wife?

Nate realized a little too late that his own demons have had him retreating emotionally from the woman he loves. When he overhears Liv voicing her concerns, he knows he has to do something to make the situation right again.

“I can’t lose you, babe. You’d take my soul with you.”

Given how much I enjoyed Nate and Liv the first time around, it’s no surprise I loved them almost as much the second time. It’s easy to forget when we read about so many happy endings that it takes real work to make that happily ever after a reality. Liv and Nate were no exception. They both carried lifelong insecurities and past issues into their relationship. That stuff doesn’t magically disappear just because you’ve put a ring on it. The way Samantha Young has written these two flawed yet awesome characters is perfect and completely true to what I would’ve expected from them.

And the naked stuff? Who says the heat dies just because you’re married to the same person for years? These two are still hawt as shit together.

For all of you who couldn’t get enough of Nate and Olivia the first time, this is a must read. As much as I love this couple, I’d love to have their daughters future stories told as well. I’m not too proud to beg, Ms. Young.

“By the end of this vacation you’ll never doubt my love for you again.”

This is a novella that depicts the couple from Before Jamaica Lane about fourteen years later. Nate and Liv have a happy life with two beautiful kids, but while they love each other, Liv feels disconnected from Nate. When he discovers this, he whisks Liv away to the small seaside town in Hartwell, Delaware hoping time for the two of them will bring them back together.

“I can’t lose you, babe. You’d take my soul with you.”

Nate and Liv are my favorite couple from this series, in fact Before Jamaica Lane is one of my all time favorite books EVER so I jumped on the chance to revisit this couple. I really enjoyed this sweet (with a hint of angsty) story between a couple who loves each other, but seems to have lost their way.

Young did a really good job combining her series, I’ve read the Hart’s Boardwalk books but I feel someone who hasn’t could easily fall into this book, nothing is confusing and the writing style makes reading it effortless. I did get really confused on the timelines, because if this is 14 years later (2013+14=2027) and yet it takes place at the same time as the other series (2017) it doesn’t make any sense. I know I should let it go, but it is something that bothered me a bit when I was reading it. I can’t help it lol.

If you read this, you will fall in love with Nate and Liv all over again. Seriously, look up relationship goals and you’ll just see their names in the dictionary.

Also, can we PLEASE get Emery’s book? I’ve been dying for it ever since The One Real Thing and the wait is killing meh!

“I don’t need to walk this boardwalk with my hand in yours to know we’ll last forever, Liv. I know we’ll last forever because I’m never letting you go.”

On Hart’s Boardwalk is an On Dublin Street & Hart’s Boardwalk crossover novella about Nate & Liv from Before Jamaica Lane. They’ve been together 14 yrs., and married almost 10. They have two beautiful daughters, and a gorgeous home in Scotland. They should have the perfect life, but between being busy with kids and careers, their lives have become routine. Liv hardly recognizes her husband anymore. Where’s the attentive, affectionate man she fell in love with? Lately she feels like he’s slipping through her fingers, and is questioning if he still wants her. They still have a physical relationship, but the passion & emotional connection are gone.

Nate learns his wife is unhappy and feels he’s disconnected. Wanting to show her how important she is to him, he plans a romantic ten day anniversary trip for just the two of them to a small boardwalk town called Hartwell on the Delaware Coast. He plans to spend the time reminding Liv how much he loves her, and reigniting the fire that’s always been between them.

I really loved this book and this couple! They are so in love, & Nate is one delicious Scot! As they reconnect in this sexy novella, they are absolutely insatiable for one another. This time alone is just what their relationship needed. As they find their way back to each other they fall in love all over again.

-“I’ve never been able to help myself when it comes to you.”

-“You were made for me, Liv.”

-It was almost like being together for the first time all over again.

-No one but my husband did it for me.

-“I just want to touch you all the time.”

Nate and Liv are still and will always be my forever favorite pair in On Dublin Street. Even after a decade of marriage, they still give me butterflies and make me emotional just like in Before Jamaica Lane. So beautiful, romantic and passionate. I can never get enough of them! ❤️

In this novella, Nate and Liv's marriage has been rocky as Nate becomes emotionally detached to his wife since his childhood friend's death. Liv understands his grief but him being closed off hurts her. e She's afraid losing the romance they used to have and at their wedding anniversary, Nate surprised her a vacation trip to Hart's Boardwalk. This will give them time for themselves and work on their issues. Reigniting their romance was so intimate and sexy with burning passion. Gosh, I can't help but swoon over it. Nate Sawyer in his 40s? He's hotter than ever 😍🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 and Liv? I love her simplicity and she's so beautiful inside and out. She's a loving wife and mother to their two daughters. I love the part she eases out Nate's fears.

4,5 estrellas.

Samantha Young’s Dublin Street series is one of my absolute favorite series of all time. Imagine my excitement when she announced she was writing a novella about the outstanding couple she created in Before Jamaica Lane, Olivia and Nate Sawyer. And double my excitement when I received the ARC! This baby releases in 2 days and let me tell you, it’s so worth it. Fantastic couple, adorable family, lots of chemistry and awesome secondary characters: it's the perfect combination for a great novella!

So, On Hart’s Boardwalk is considered part of the Dublin Street series (for obvious reasons) but it’s also part of another of Young’s series called Hart’s Boardwalk (since the story is featured in that universe and with its characters too). As I said, this crossover novella focuses on Nate and Liv and their life together after 10 years of marriage. These two love each other immensely, they have two beautiful daughters, and everything seems perfect from the outside. Well, that is not true at the moment. Liv is worried she is losing her connection with Nate. Yes, they love each other but their relationship is not as passionate as it once was. When Nate realizes what is going through Liv’s mind, he does not hesitate to show his wife how passionately he loves her. He plans what will be an unforgettable vacation.

“I’ll never stop fighting for you, Liv. Love of my fucking life.” He swiped away my tears. “We’ll make this right.”

God, I missed these characters! I was so glad to have a little bit more to enjoy them because the Dublin Street crew has a special place in my heart. I loved seeing them all together all over again and I loved reading how Nate and Liv rekindle their relationship. Liv broke my heart at the start of this novella and I fell in love with Nate again because he does not hesitate to fix things between them. He can’t live without his soulmate and he is more than ready to show it to her. And trust me, you don’t want to miss a single word!

“I'm going to make it up to you. By the end of this vacation you'll never doubt my love for you again.”

After fourteen years together, you would imagine the passion is not the same. Right? Well, you are very wrong, my friend! Certainly, Liv and Nate are the same couple we met in Before Jamaica Lane. They burned my Kindle with all that sexual tension and the steamy scenes between them. Holy moly, Nate is hawt for his wife and she loves it! And you know what makes On Hart’s Boardwalk even better? All those emotions. Gah, my poor heart! I was crying my heart out because these two seriously cannot love each other more. They are the perfect couple and they deserved having another happy ending.

“I can't lose you, babe. You'd take my soul with you.”

Therefore, I am rating On Hart’s Boardwalk with 4.5 STARS because it was great to catch up with all these characters (so happy to have seen the Dublin Street crew all over again!) and to meet new ones too! I loved reading how Liv and Nate rekindle their passionate relationship and how amazing they are as parents of those two adorable daughters! If you have read their story, you definitely don’t want to miss reading this novella. I highly recommend it!

Loved Nate and Olivia’s story in Before Jamaica Lane, so I was all over revisiting them ten years later with this novella. Yet, Nate and Olivia, are at a point where they’re having some trouble. I think most married people would agree, it isn’t all smooth sailing and there are ups and downs. It’s all in how you deal with and move on that makes all the difference.

My heart hurt for Olivia as she struggled with loneliness, hurt and insecurity; I don’t think there’s a woman out there who wouldn’t relate on some level. Olivia’s pain was vivid, and intense. When you love someone so powerfully they have the ability to really hurt you, whether they mean to or not. I wasn’t sure what was up with Nate, but I wanted these two to get things squared away.

A trip to the States, on Hart’s Boardwalk helped with their road to healing, and man, oh man did things get so very hot and dirty! Nate and Olivia continue to be one of my all-time favorite couples in the On Dublin Street series! They had a bit of a crisis, with some angsty bits, but it made the making up so much sweeter, with lots of sizzle, of course! On Hart’s Boardwalk wasn’t very long, but it was well done and oh-so-wonderful! This one definitely goes on the favorites shelf!

Happy Book Birthday

All romance fans love a happy ever after, but what happens with the couple ten years down the road? Did they achieve everything they set out to do? Are they still madly in love, crazy about each other? How have their lives changes?
“How would I know how to breathe in and breathe out in a world where you didn’t exist?”

Samantha Young expands on the lives of Nate a Liv in On Hart’s Boardwalk, novella #6.7 of her On Dublin Steet series. The two protagonists made for a fun, sultry and touching read in Before Jamaica Lane, but two children, their respective careers and ten years later, impulsiveness is impossible and doubt has been creeping in. But Nate has a plan which involves traveling to the other side of the world and prove to Liv just how much he’s grown to love her over the past decade.
“By the end of this vacation you’ll never doubt my love for you again.”

It’s not often readers get to see into the future of their favorite couples. Of course there are books with epilogues that serve this purpose, but they’re often short and meant to give a glimpse without overshadowing the main story. Oh Hart’s Boardwalk provides the angst over the routine and disconnect experienced by a lot of couples over time but it also gives us the new adventure the couple embarks on in order breathe new life into their relationship with a lot of swoon worthy moments along with delicious sexy times.
“I can’t lose you, babe. You’d take my soul with you.”

Young does a wonderful job of giving fans more of their favorite couple while making the story a standalone for new readers to enjoy. If you loved Nate and Liv, you’ll fall along with them all over again and if you’re a newcomer to the series, you’ll meet two wonderfully flawed yet appealing characters, be able to relate with their couple’s issues, get to see how they overcome them, and most likely want to read their entire story.

On Hart’s Boardwalk is novella #6.7 of the On Dublin Street series by Samantha Young. It is a standalone contemporary romance, with a happily ever after and epilogue.

3.5 ★'s

I can't tell you how much it pains me to give one of my favorite couple's books only a 3.5 ★. But it had to be done.

First off, it's a novella and (for me) that's pretty much a given that it won't be a five star. Still, I had high hopes.

And to be honest, right off the bat, I was emotionally traumatized! The way the prologue is set up is a tad worrisome but I had to trust Samantha Young not to do us that way.

description

Nate and Liv have been going through a rough patch...like most normal married couples...which was a bit refreshing. They both have suffered a loss but it has hit Nate particularly hard. And it's not something he's shared with Liv and she lets her imagination run wild, thinking the worse.

Luckily, Nate hears her talking to Jo and goes about fixing things, as in, whisking her off to Hart's Boardwalk, just the two of them, no kids. Liv is thrilled.

All that is good stuff and I have to admit, I was eager for them to reconnect, however, once the reconnecting started...it barely stopped. It was a total sexfest. Don't get me wrong, I like sexy times as much as the next person but this was over the top especially for only 112 pages!

Still, I loved that they got back on track and they are still one of my favorite couples. And it was great being back on Hart's Boardwalk again...and on Dublin Street!

It's been 4 long years since I read Before Jamaica Lane (my second favorite book in the fantastic On Dublin Street series), and I was slightly worried that I wouldn't remember the hero/heroine of that series--Nate and Liv--while I was reading this one. I mean I knew that I loved their story, but I couldn't remember why...

My worries were unfounded, because once I dove into this one (their story picks up after 10 years of marriage and 14 years together) it all came rushing back to me! (Well, Samantha Young helped a bit by dropping little hints about their past along the way...)

So, what have Nate and Liv been up to these past ten /14 years? Nate (42) and Liv (40) have two lively daughters (11 and 8), busy, successful careers, and have generally been happy these past 10 years. Except....maybe the passion has gone out of their marriage. To Liv, lately Nate has seemed...distant. It seems to have coincided with the death of his good friend. He doesn't seem to look at her the same way. They don't talk like they used to. They still make love regularly, but it's not the same. Has he found someone else? Is it all in Liv's head, or is there something to it?

When Nate overhears Liv discussing her unhappiness about the state of their marriage ("I'm saying I hate the way I feel about myself when I'm with him.") with her friend Jo (Down London Road) he is startled by her feelings. Nate, you've got to get your act together...

So Nate plans a little trip to one of Liv's favorite places in the USA--the Delaware coast. It may not be Rehoboth Beach where Liv vacationed with her family in the past, but perhaps they can make new memories in the small boardwalk town of Hartwell.

Well Nate and Liv have a fantastic, steamy hot time in Hartwell, except....Nate is still keeping something inside him. Can Liv get him to finally open up and tell her what's bothering him? Is there something bothering him?

Loved loved loved this story! Adored Nate and Liv and wanted their marriage to get back on track. God, why can't every author revisit favorite characters from time to time? And if you think married couples in their forties can't be hot, then you haven't met Nate and Liv! This story did not disappoint. Some fabulous story telling and steamy, loving sex scenes from one of my favorite authors!
5 stars

P.S.: I have not read the two books in the Hart's Boardwalk series, but know I feel that I must! Nate and Liv have interactions with the heroes/heroines of that series, and while it's not necessary to have read those books to know what's going on, I'm sure it would be an added bonus if you did.

My thanks to the publisher for providing an ARC via Netgalley.

Anyone who has ever been in a relationship knows there is ups and downs. Young captures the essence of one of these downs between one of our favorite couples Nat and Liv. But she doesn’t only do that, she also includes a bunch of characters from both her On Dublin Street series and On Hart’s Boardwalk series…a win, win all around.

Young doesn't just hit an emotional cord, she plays a symphony with words weaving you deeper into both the On Hart's Boardwalk and On Dublin Street worlds. I flat out loved it and was amazed by everything that took place in a novella length telling.

I receive this ARC copy of On Hart's Boardwalk from Berkley Publishing Group - InterMix. This is my honest and voluntary. On Hart's Boardwalk is set for publication March 20, 2018.

Two of Samantha Young's adult romance series' collide in a palpable novella featuring one of my all-time favorite fictional couples: Liv and Nate from Before Jamaica Lane (installment #3 in the On Dublin Street series). Set ten years after Before Jamaica Lane, fans get to catch up on pretty much everyone from the series. As you can gather from the title, a chunk of this novella takes place with the characters and in the setting of the Hart's Boardwalk series so Samantha Young's adult fans are going to have a field day revisiting with some of their fav's. As for the storyline, Ms. Young shows stressors of marriage and parenting, and how they are exacerbated when couples don't communicate well. Don't worry though, Liv and Nate have still got it and this novella is over all too soon leaving you homesick for these characters all over again. On Hart’s Boardwalk is an excellent addition to both of these series and I personally would love to see more novellas like this one.

I don't even know where to begin with this novella. Samantha Young shocked the hell out of me with On Hart's Boardwalk, my chin was on the floor, literally, from the very first page. For fans of Liv and Nate, my all-time favorite Samantha Young couple, you're in for a deliciously romantic treat with this short story. But brace yourselves because On Hart's Boardwalk will carve your heart into broken little pieces before piecing it back together once more.

This novella is intense. I started reading it late at night and that was a mistake. I couldn't sleep. I woke up desperate to dive back in and finish it. It literally felt, at first, like claws reached out from the page and squeezed my heart. It hurt SO DAMN BAD. I couldn't even believe what I was reading at times. Other times, I couldn't shake the smile off my face. I caught myself giggling. I caught myself wiping away tears. I had to fan myself because of how steamy it was, the sexual tension a delicious slow burn for much of this short story. And I found myself in awe, that after all this time, Samantha Young could still pull me right back into the world of Nate and Liv and remind me of exactly why they're my favorite couple.

For fans of the Hart's Boardwalk and the On Dublin Street series, you're truly in for a double treat as Young creates an adorably sweet marriage between both series, bringing Nate and Liv to the quaint ocean town where they meet new friends as they try to bridge a gap that's formed between them. Whether you're familiar with these characters or not, your heart will soar. And it will ache. I'm not typically a fan of novellas but this one was just everything to me. It was not only a much needed reunion with two beloved characters, it was an all too authentic look at the ups and downs of a marriage. I know a lot of readers hate it when authors mess with a character's HEA, but this novella was perfection, in my opinion, an honest depiction of the phases of a marriage and it struck a deep chord within me as I read. It's beautiful and brutal and I both loved and loathed all I was made to feel on these pages. It was just perfect and I can't help but think that Samantha Young is at her absolute best when she delivers such heavy, intense, complicated love stories between her characters. I love light and sweet every now and again but THIS, this absolutely heart wrenching type of story is what I love most.

Marriage in Trouble
4 words that describe this novella: angsty, sexy, romantic and passionate<3

First read March 2018; Reread February 2020

14 years together and...They. Still. Got. It. The passion still burns hot. I'll never get enough of Liv & Nate--my people. And oh god, Nate. Is it weird that a book character makes me blush? No matter what the man says, I turn to a pile of goo in his hands. Sigh. I know I'll be rereading their full length novel, Before Jamaica Lane, soon.

Original Review:
I don't do novellas. But for Liv and Nate, there was no way I was skipping this one. I'm so glad I didn't because this book is perfect! I admit I was a little worried that reading this would change how I feel about my favorite couple, and not in a good way. Silly me. My love for these two is still going strong. Actually, stronger. Thank you, Ms. Young, for this gift <3

Yes I could be blatantly biased but this book was utter perfection. I LOVE Nate and Liv; they have ALWAYS been my favourite in the series. Before Jamaica Lane is one of my favourites and I've read it only a million times. When i heard that this book is a peek into 10 years later, I HAD to know how they were living life. So much heart, so many emotions. If i thought I loved Nate before, I must be head over heels, to the moon and back- in love with him now! Ah, this man just does it for me. Let's not even talk about the steamy scenes, I might just cry. A definite recommendation if you loved Nate and Liv in Before Jamaica Lane. I just want to move in next door to them, become friends and play 'Would you rather'

I don't think I've talked about it enough, but Samantha Young's On Dublin Street is one of my all-time contemporary romance series. I have such fond memories of reading those books and discovering the OTPs that lay within. So, I was very happy to hear that she had written a novella, years into the future, featuring one of my favorite couples from the series. I loved this glimpse into Nate and Livia's relationship. They are both busy with their jobs, have two lovely daughters, and are leading a rather monotonous life. To make matters worse, Livia feels that Nate just isn't present in her life anymore as she would like. After the death of a friend, he's receded into himself, and doesn't open up to her. I'm not going to lie, it was a little hard to read about Nate and Olivia having marriage troubles, but it was also incredibly realistic. Let's face it, what marriage is ever 100% happy 24/7? So, I appreciated this look into the life after a happily ever after. Nate and Livia have to work hard to restore their marriage, and the first step towards that is going away from home to Hart's Boardwalk. This is the setting in Samantha Young's newest series, so this novella was a crossover. Besides loving reading about Nate and Livia mend their fractured marriage, I also loved meeting some of my favorite characters from that series. I particularly loved seeing Bailey and Vaughn! Anyways, this is a short novella, so I won't give everything away, but know that it's an emotional, beautiful and sexy story, just as every other book by Samantha Young.

I LOVED IT!!!

For all my friends who know me they know I love On Dublin and all the novella's!
So it was clear that I was going to love this one as well!
I like to read about couples who are together for ages and it's all kind of "boring" not the same as it use to.

So Liv and Nate are married for 10 years and together for 14 years, in this time that is quite long actually. So there are a few things that Liv is worried about and questions.

I fell in love with them both all over again! And Lilly and January as well! They are so adorable!

“I wanted him to be beyond all reasoning and take me how he wanted to take me. No thought. No care. Just fuck me like he couldn’t breathe another second in this world if he didn’t.”

“I can’t lose you, babe. You’d take my soul with you.”

More On Dublin Street? Sign me up, please! On Dublin Street is one of those series that I can never get enough of and will never, ever tire of. So, when I heard that Nate and Liv were getting a novella, I couldn’t wait to dive into it.

Nate and Liv have the life they’ve always dreamed of: perfect family, loving marriage and busy jobs. But, somewhere along the way, these two started to drift. The idea of being disconnected terrifies Liv and makes her doubts. So, when Nate surprises Liv with a romantic anniversary getaway, this might just be what these two needed to reignite their fires…

On Hart’s Boardwalk was a quick and easy read for me. Since it is a novella, I had no problem devouring it in just a few short hours. From the moment I picked this book up and started reading, it felt as though no time had passed. I easily fell into Nate and Liv’s story. One of the things that I really loved about Nate and Liv was how easy they were to relate to. The problems and fears were real and are close to what a lot of couples go through. Romance isn’t always hearts and flowers. There will be tough times, and I for one really enjoyed seeing how Nate and Liv would tackle the heard times.

On Hart’s Boardwalk was well written and entertaining. I loved how it mixed the On Dublin Street Series with the Hart’s Boardwalk one. I thought that the two blended very well together and I enjoyed visiting with the characters form Hart’s Boardwalk.

On Hart’s Boardwalk might be a quick read, but I promise you, Samantha Young does not disappoint. In this novella, she has managed to give us a heartfelt and realistic story that is filled with heart, love, angst and fight. It hit all the marks for me and left me begging for more. On Hart’s Boardwalk is a wonderful quick read to spend the afternoon getting swept away in.

WOWOWOWOW-

and I thought Cam x Jo's Valentine's Day short was angsty.

Nate and Olivia are one of my top fav Dublin Street couples. They've had a pretty solid marriage, but careers and kids caused them to drift apart from each other over the years (they've been together for 14 years, married for ten). This rift became more prominent after Nate's close friend died suddenly, which resulted in Nate pulling away from Liv in his grief.

I love reading their efforts to save their marriage and reconnect. Nate and Liv both have great support systems, and they hammered out the kinks by doing a lot of talking to each other, sometimes yelling and/or crying. I love the roller-coaster of emotions this book brought me, and I love reuniting with the other characters (Braden Carmichael, my first love hnggggg).

Maybe it's time to reread the series y/y

“I’ll never stop fighting for you, Liv. Love of my fucking life.” He swiped away my tears. “We’ll make this right.”

4 stars!

Oh Nate Sawyer, book boyfriend of my dreams, how happy I am to see you again!!!

One of the reasons I love reading romance is because of the happy ending. We meet a couple, we fall in love with them, we watch them fall in love, and then they have their HEA. But what happens years down the track when that couple have become stuck in the realities of real life? Well, that is what has happened to one of my all-time favourite couples in this new novella from Samantha Young.

Nate and Olivia rocked my world when we met them in Before Jamaica Lane. They were best friends who were wildly passionate about each other and fell in mad love. Now, it’s 14 years later. They’ve been married for ten years, they have two beautiful girls, and their life is busy with work and their children, with little time for each other. Add in some external drama that has impacted them in a big way, and they are in a rut, still very much in love but feeling a bit lost and alienated from each other.

“Marriages are not perfect because people aren’t perfect. But we’ve recognized our wrongs and we can make this work again.”

To rekindle the spark in their marriage, Nate decides to whisk his wife away to the US for ten days of reconnecting, and so they soon find themselves staying on Hart’s Boardwalk (in a delicious tie-in with Young’s series of the same name), and looking forward to spending some much-needed alone time together.

“I can’t lose you, babe. You’d take my soul with you.”

I really loved this book. I love how in love Nate and Liv still are after all of their time together, I love that the problems they are experiencing are very real ones that probably every married couple can relate to, and I love they are prepared to fight for each other and their life together. And we get to see that in all of its sweet, funny, emotional glory, with lots of seriously steamy, wild monkey sex along the way.

“By the end of this vacation you’ll never doubt my love for you again.”

This is a gorgeous read. I loved being back with Nate and Olivia once again. Their love story is truly special and continues to be so even after all of this time. And there’s even cameos from the rest of the On Dublin Street crew which made this fangirl very happy.

I loved it – 4 stars.

“I can’t lose you, babe. You’d take my soul with you.”

I’m not gonna lie. This one hurt. As a HUGE FAN of Samantha Young’s work, I expect a romance with TONS of emotion. I expect to experience ALL THE FEELS when I dive into her stories, but this…this was SO MUCH MORE heartbreaking than I could have ever imagined. Some of you may be familiar with Nate and Liv, some of you may not. Either way, your heart will break for them for the first time, or ALL OVER AGAIN. On Hart’s Boardwalk shows us what could happen AFTER a happily ever after. For some couples, that’s all they need. For others, they require something MORE, something NECESSARY, something CRUCIAL in order to get back to where they were before…back to that happily ever after that we all read about. This beautiful, sexy, heartWRENCHING novella gives us a glimpse of two beloved characters that are struggling for their second HEA, their second chance at fighting for the couple that they know they can be, the couple that we have all rooted for since day one. There will be tears. There will be heartache, but has Ms. Young ever steered you wrong? I didn’t think so. Not all happily ever afters stick the first go-round.

That was such a nice, short story about this couple I loved so much. Liv and Nate were one of my personal favorites from On Dublin street series and it was so good to be back and see how their marriage evolved. They had serious issues which I believe all people in a long-term relationship could relate to. Their story hit too close to home for me on so many places. Even though it was a short novella I managed to laugh again with the whole gang from On Dublin street, then there were some very emotional moments, that brought tears in my eyes and the sex scenes…boy, those were steamy hot! Like explosion of sexy and off the charts hot.

I didn’t quite get all the references to the other series of Samantha that I haven’t yet read, and all those characters introduced there felt a bit off for me and I found it hard to follow, but I believe once I read their stories, it’ll all make sense.

If you are a fan of On Dublin street series and Nate and Liv, this is a nice, sexy story showing them 10 years after their marriage. They struggled, they feared, they fought for each other, but at the end they got stronger than before and if possible, more in love. I wished this was a full length novel, but it was so good to be back with them anyway.

The on Dublin Street series has a new book out!! Actually a novella - a quick and fun read about the couple, Nate and Liv from Book #3 ~ Before Jamaica Lane.

I'll admit I didn't remember them in the same way I still remember Joss and Braden :) But it was great to reconnect with the couple 10 years later and a bit of the whole gang too as they celebrate Liv's 40th. I loved the setting of the East Coast beach town Hartwell and all the shenanigans Nate and Liv got into! The audio on this was so good with all the Scottish accents!!! You could probably read this as a standalone...although what fun would that be - you must read the On Dublin series!!!
