After years of being called a tease and then being labeled the Virgin Queen, Andi Kane decides that when she goes off to college, she's ready to ditch the labels. She's grabbing the bull by its horns and riding as wild as she can. Fate must be smiling on her the night she meets Cohen Wellington, the cute boy-next-door and fellow music lover. Their connection is instant, and as the night progresses, she knows she's found The One. Only...it doesn't go exactly the way she had planned it. And even though she can't get him off her mind, some humiliations are just too much to overcome. She walks away, never planning to see him again. Three years and a whole lot of experience later, Andi and Cohen are suddenly drawn together again, and it doesn't take long before it's clear their connection is stronger than ever. Fate. Destiny. Kismet. Whatever you want to call it, these two fall hard and fall fast. Their love burns hot, but when their plans for the future seem to move in two different directions, will it be enough to sustain the flames, or will the fire consume them, their relationship combusting before their very eyes? Sometimes love comes quickly without question, without hesitation, and without fear. But this kind of love is once in a lifetime, and sometimes you just have to ask yourself, can it really last?

FIVE WELLINGTON STARS

"Fate. Destiny. Kismet. Whatever you want to call it, these two fall hard and fall fast."

description

I can almost guarantee that when I get my eager hands on a Tessa Teevan book that it will be reading time well spent. When I discovered that Tessa was writing a book involving younger characters to say I was just a tad excited would be an huge understatement in fact I was practically giddy with excitement. Everything that this author puts her writing talent to is a success and I'm still riding on my Tessa Teevan addiction cloud days after finishing this fantastic novel. Talk about romantic genius, I'm so loved up right now I'm worried about the books that will be following this story because I can't seem to get these gorgeous characters out of my mind. Well done Double T once again you have claimed my reading heart and it just adds to the proof that you were destined to be one of my all time favourite authors. Readers be prepared to be won over, romance is in the air and once you read this novel you'll be proud to call yourself a Wellington addict just like myself.

What's it all about?
Cohen Wellington was never looking to find the love of his life, as an aspiring medical student he has his hands full and time is often at a premium, but when fate intervenes and he meets a fellow college student with a musical interest that matches his own his world may just have to allow room for the red head that may just be 'The one'. Andi Kane is ready to start her life at college by grabbing onto as many new adventures as she can, ready to shake off the labels she acquired at high school, Andi is happy to enjoy her time being carefree and living life to it's fullest. During a chance meeting this duo form a connection that they are both equally excited and vary of, after all you don't meet the love of your life in your first few weeks of college, do you? After life and circumstances stand in the way Andi and Cohen don't cross paths for another three years. But When they meet again they both soon come to realise that the chemistry they shared all those years ago has not changed. But with new priorities and a different set of obstacles in the way Cohen and Andi have to fight to keep the love that has always been destined to be their own. Follow this couple and their second chance at a romance and fall in love with a couple that are truly meant to be. Welcome to 'Combust'.

What did I love?
Tessa Teevan makes it extremely easy for me to fall in love with her writing. 'Combust' was so beautifully written I found myself not only highlighting on my kindle like a crazed addict but also re reading my favourite quotes over and over again. This novel had a different vibe to it than Teevan's previous work but don't be concerned all the differences only confirmed my love for this authors ability to pull me straight into her love of writing. Tessa has done a fabulous job of creating a novel that combined witty, music related connections and pages full of chemistry and attraction but with this book I also admired that the story telling was more thorough and the romance was most certainly the main theme running through the plot. In fact some of the dialogue between the characters was romantic poetry in action, Tessa Teevan once again had me addicted to her novel and it doesn't surprise me one bit. One of the main reasons why I love this authors work so much is every book has it's own originality, the stories she creates and characters that feature are not carbon copies of each other in fact each book that this author creates has it's own story to tell with differing character traits with well thought out themes and developments. I didn't know what to expect with 'Combust' but it went above and beyond my expectations it gave me a reminder of why I love to read about falling in love and exited to find time to read and get lost in the story telling. Cohen and Andi were a couple that I can honestly say I loved reading about, they were both equally enjoyable as hero and heroine and the length of the story allows the reader to fully appreciate both sides of the story with a point of view from each main character. The time lines were played out well, Tessa did a fantastic job of show casing the characters as their young selves and also made me swoon at the descriptive differences of the older Cohen and Andi. Nothing about this book didn't appeal to my tastes. The romance gave me the butterflies, the chemistry and attraction was both believable and insanely delicious and once again Tessa Teevan has created characters that I just couldn't help but fall in love with. To the author, I love your writing you provide books that give me a good case of the goosebumps and I'm always left smiling when I reach 'The end'. I'll always be a dedicated Double T addict and I know that other readers will fall in love with 'Combust' just as much as I have.

description

Final thoughts ...
If you are new to Tessa Teevan then you are in the perfect position for a fantastic line up of romantic reading.
I'm also a little jealous that you get to start from the beginning and fall in love with each and every story that this author provides, not only will you be addicted to this author much like myself but you will be adding books that are not only enjoyable the first time around but they are also re
Read worthy and unforgettable. As for those readers that are already aquatinted with Teevan's writing prowess I'm already anticipating that you will be falling straight into love with a certain Cohen Wellington and like myself you'll be excited to see what this gorgeous author will do next. Romance at it's centre and a little drama along the way, 'Combust' was the perfect book to escape into and I'm convinced other romance addicts will feel the same. Go grab it readers, enjoy ... Kisses.

5 Stars!!!

There is something about these Wellington boys… When I first read Incinerate and met Knox’s little brother, Cohen, I knew I wanted more of him. I was so excited to hear Tessa was giving him his own book. It didn’t let me down! Combust was another fantastic 5 star read for me!

Cohen Wellington is the youngest of the Wellington boys. He’s just started college and he’s going his own way. He wants to study pre-med, not follow his fathers business like footsteps. Andi Kane is a college freshman, as well as a virgin. She’s at her first frat party with her best friend. It’s not really her scene, but there is someone different there. Someone who likes music and is easy to talk to. She meets Cohen and there is an instant spark between the two.
From the moment I laid eyes on her, I was drawn to her. In one night, she took everything I’d thought I wanted and threw it out the window.

 photo 520e1937-0a5a-4783-9e6e-7028558cd444_zps76e947b4.jpg

Both of them feel it. That feeling you get when you just know you’ve met the one. But it’s too new, they’re too young, and something happens that makes things awkward. Enough that the two of them lose touch for three whole years. Funny thing is that ‘chemistry’ is the thing that will bring them back together…

Cohen is not the boy that Andi remembers him to be. But she still sees glimpses of that man there. He might be different in a lot of ways, but he’s the same in the most important. When they reconnect, Cohen just knows. Andi is it. He’s not letting his girl get away again. He will always be there for her.
“You’re mine, Ruby. And I hope that you consider me yours.”

 photo 827ef2a6-968c-4111-bc22-bb16df5b2c52_zpsfaa60ee7.jpg

No matter how much this might scare Andi, she can’t deny the attraction she feels for Cohen. The need that ensues her body each time he’s around her.
All I can think about is the fire that sparks within me whenever he’s around. The fire he sparked once upon a time but has lain dormant for far too long. If he doesn’t hurry up and fan the flames, I’m going to combust with need.

But it’s not just physical. Slowly but surely, all those feelings come back to her. Those things she felt the first night she met Cohen. It’s impossible for her to stay away.

Andi Kane is a fun and feisty heroine. There were points in the beginning that she frustrated me, but she more than made up for those frustrations by the end of the book. And Cohen Wellington… what can I say about this boy? I absolutely adored him. He was sweet, sexy and completely lovable.

 photo 9d360a43-eba9-4976-bce4-0addf928d7dd_zps917b434e.jpg

I love that Combust is different than the author’s other books. Cohen wasn’t in the military, he’s just an average med- student. There are different circumstances and different surroundings, but one thing remains the same. Tessa’s writing still kicks ass and her characters are still completely lovable and engaging. Now that I’ve read Cohen’s story, I desperately want to read Branson’s. He can be a little bit of an asshole- but those are my favorite kind of heroes!
“You meet a girl who makes you feel like your world’s going to explode without her in it, you fucking hold on to her. You fucking clutch her as tight as you can. Don’t you dare let her slip through your fingers.”

Tessa can make me fall in love with any man she writes. It’s a talent. I feel that insta-love with all her leading men. I can’t help myself. I loved the music incorporated, the romance, the steam and Knox cameos (hehe). This is a book you won’t want to miss out on!

I first need to begin this review, by saying this book is set in Knoxville, TN, which happens to be my home. I first have to give props to Tessa for accurately portraying the lifestyle of a Univeristy of Tennessee student. I loved the shout to our bars and restaurants, and our loyal fans. I loved this book period, but I was so excited every time one of the characters went to a bar or restaurant I frequent.

Andi Kane is from Bethel, TN. Bethel is a tiny town and all there is to do there is gossip. When your father is the Mayor and your brother is a star baseball player, it's not difficult to figure out people are talking about you and your family. While in high school Andi realized that she had become the gossip topic of choice amongst her peers, when she dated a boy for a few years and refused to have sex with him. Andi didn’t refuse sex because she was super religious or waiting for marriage, no she just enjoyed drying humping, or as me and my friends called it cameling so much so she didn’t see the point in having actual sex. Then once it became a challenge for the guys in her school, she decided she couldn’t have sex because all these guys were trying to use her to win bets.

Andi decides every thing will change once she is moves to Knoxville to attend The University of Tennessee with her bestie, Reese. Reese has been dating Cy for years, and he decides to pledge a fraternity. At one of the first frat parties of the year, Andi meets Cohen Wellington. Cohen and Andi were both dragged there by their best friends and have no desire to be amongst their drunken peers. After chatting they learn that they both have a love for music, so they leave to go listen to music. (Oh to be young again where leaving with a stranger didn’t make you freak out at all the possible dangers.)

Andi and Cohen do listen to music and get to know each other, it is a pretty epic night for them both - they both have met someone that they could genuinely care about. Well, I think we know where this is going, one thing leads to another and they end up having sex. Now we know this is Andi’s first time, but as it turns out it is Cohen’s first time, too. So, I know what you are thinking…another book with an epic, virgin sex scene where they connect so completely they come together…right?

Well, I believe this may be the first time I have read a virgin "losing it" scene that is so completely accurate. He puts it in, she screams in pain, he comes…yep…

Another reason I am a huge Tessa fan now! You go Tessa, way to write a book that isn’t all rainbows and unicorns! Despite this horrible encounter, you think they still had this great connection, and it will be better the next time. Well no, because Cohen gets a little too attached and Andi begins avoiding him.

Fast forward three years, they are both seniors and Andi needs to take a chemistry class to graduate. There is a reason she has been putting it off, there is no way she can pass it on her own. Therefore, the student center assigns a tutor to her, enter pre-med major Cohen Wellington.

It has been three years since Cohen and Andi have seen each other, and he refuses to let his chance go again. Andi has dated a few guys and has never connected with anyone like she did that first night with Cohen, so she doesn’t want to waste this chance either.

Once Cohen decides he is all in, he begins wooing her. This wooing just drives Andi crazy, because Cohen isn’t the scrawny boy he once was, no he is all man and she is in desperate need of him.

Obviously, I loved this book. I loved the connection between Andi and Cohen. I liked how they went their separate ways grew up and then came back together. I felt the story had a perfect balance of angst, sex, and love. It wasn’t over the top in any category. I absolutely loved the writing. I loved how real it was and completely believable. I love how when Andi began feeling things for Cohen she called herself out for having insta-love for him.

“Well, I’m pretty sure I’m about to be a hypocrite, because I’m about two point five seconds away from being a silly rom-com statistic, and I have no idea what I’m going to do about it.”

Overall, I feel like this a great read and highly recommend it.

I'm not sure what I love most about Tessa Teevan's writing. I love how she takes such care with handing over her characters to us as readers, I love how her stories have such a sense of reality and I love that her stories seem so genuine and natural. She makes it easy to fall in love with the main characters and your left feeling as though you were pulled in and plopped right in the middle of their lives. Tessa’s books always leaves my heart happy.

I will say, this one was a little different for me because the characters were in their early 20's. I don't read many books with younger MC's and I wasn't sure how I would feel about it. I am happy to say I loved it just as much I did her other books.❤

Cohen Wellington made my heart melt and I adored Andi Kane. Depending on what stage you are in your life, their story will either have you wishing you could experience what they have or if you are like me it will have you experiencing all those wonderful feelings again when you meet your one and only true love.

A bit about the story ~

Cohen spends most of his time with his studies since he will be eventually heading off to medical school to become a surgeon and has very little free time for parties and girls. Andi on the other hand is a bit more carefree with her life and is ready to jump into the college life with both feet.

Cohen and Andi first meet in their freshman year at college. After meeting at a Frat party, there is this connection between them that neither expected or were prepared for. Is there such a thing as love at first sight? But their first night together wasn’t supposed to turn out the way it did. There was supposed to be more to it. There was to be that next step. Neither one knew it would be another three years before their paths would cross again.

 photo 4f288d55-ee2b-4168-bf9c-9f1f891048d7_zpsdf109587.jpg

And as FATE or was it DESTINY or was it KISMET would have it Andi and Cohen lives cross paths again. This time things are different. Priorities have changed and because of the time spent apart they realise how much they meant to each other. They realise that the feelings they have for each other are worth exploring.

Cohen and Andi begin to flutter through their reconnection. Experiencing all those butterflies in your belly moments, the anticipation of the next time you’re together, the desire to be with that person completely. They are challenged though. Friends, family and decisions that have to be made will test their true feelings for each other. Cohen has insecurities he needs to work through and Andi needs to be strong enough to stand her ground when it comes to her future.

 photo secondcombustcollage_zpsc6bdb24d.jpg

In the end ~

I thought that Tessa did a wonderful job writing Cohen and Andi’s story. It was fun, romantic, sweet and SEXY. The relationship build-up was perfect. I was falling in love with both of them as they were falling in love with each other. I got lost in their story and enjoyed every minute of it.

I’m always looking for that little extra something in the book ~

I’m a lover of music so when it became apparent that a piece of Cohen and Andi’s connection and future would be because of their love for music I was doing my “happy dance”. I loved that artists and songs were scattered throughout the story. It is true, music can bring people together, and music can help people express things they might not otherwise express. If you ask me, music is what brought Cohen and Andi together that fateful night.

I’ve listened to the playlist for Combust and I’ll listen to it again and again. Here are a few of my favs!

"So that’s it then? What am I? Your embarrassment? Your dirty little secret? I may not have rocked your world with my dick, but I have a pretty damn good memory of you moaning as my mouth made love to you, licking and sucking until you were writhing beneath me. I know I didn’t imagine your orgasm, and the way your fingers were gripping my hair relentlessly as you came. But was that not enough? Even after everything, I’m still a failure in your eyes? Oh, but it’s all good. Now you’ve got your frat boy who’s probably so much more experienced than I am. I’m sure he’ll do a much better job of fucking you than I did.”

This is the fifth book I've read by Tessa, and I can honestly say, she continues to deliver fabulous stories with just the right amount of steam and each book boyfriend is better than the last.
I FREAKIN LOVED COHEN!!!!!

Where was this boy, when I was a freshman in college??!!!
Cohen Wellington is Knox's younger brother, we met him "Incinerate".
Never did I expect that he would be even more swoon worthy than all the men in Tessa's previous books, but HOLY HELL was he ever!!

Andi Kane aka "Blue Ball Extraordinaire", has held on to her virginity for most of her teenage years. She's been satisfied with going to 3rd base and dry humping, but now as a Freshman at the University of Tennessee, she is thinking it's time to lose it to someone she might meet at school.

Andi and Cohen meet at a college frat party.
There's instant chemistry and both share a deep love for music.
I enjoyed how most of their relationship is described by various songs from different music genres.
The night they meet, Andi goes with Cohen to his dorm room.
Passionate kissing turns into heavy petting, which eventually leads to some amazing oral sex for both, and then the SEX!!
Has anyone ever had a guy that lasted 10 seconds???
I can tell you it's a HUGE LET DOWN!!

 photo eb5b0ae00547ff11a9230eead7d62636_zpsee94bec0.jpg

Cohen is beyond mortified, but he has an excuse.
He was also a virgin.
So both lost their virginity in "one pump".
Cohen promises that round two will be much better.
He's completely infatuated with Andi and looking forward to spending time with her.
Andi, was a complete idiot, and ends up sneaking out of his room the next morning, while Cohen sleeps.
She thinks he will regret the night they had and believes things will be awkward if she stays in his room. BIG MISTAKE ANDI!!!

THREE YEARS go by, and circumstances bring the two together.
Cohen and Andi never forgot one another and during those years apart, they dated other people, but no one of significance.

The attraction is still very much alive and dare I say, SCORCHING HOT!!!
Cohen has learned a lot in the last three years and Andi is the lucky girl that gets to reap the benefits.

The sexual tension is beyond frustrating!!
Cohen refuses to have sex right away because he wants their relationship to work and to make sure their first time is special.
Andi is not so happy about this and I didn't blame her.
I was reminded of a certain Jace McAllister aka "Blue Clit Master"!!!

Andi and Cohen's relationship seems to take off at warp speed.
But when you get a second chance to be with someone who you felt an incredible connection to, sometimes it's just meant to be. To waste any more time would be tragic.

For the first half of the book, I found myself irritated with Andi for her stupid insecurities but in the second half, it's Cohen that acted the fool a couple of times.
But Cohen apologizes in the most amazing ways!!

"I could never form the right words myself to properly tell you how much I love you. How much I need you. How deeply ingrained in my soul you've become. You're in every song, every note, and I only wish I had the ability to write the lyrics to your song."

 photo 7a7a3a84949b09babfb0d4b7d71c612d_zpsbb4a47a2.jpg

There were so many excerpts I highlighted and each and every time I was just so amazed at how truly gifted Tessa is with the written word.
What I love about her is that when she writes a series, she doesn't make you wait 6 months to a year like some authors for the next book, and I know that the book that we get is going to be something special.

Well "COMBUST" was a knock out for me!!
I read it slowly, to enjoy every minute of it.
I think a little piece of my heart has Cohen's name on it now.

I highly recommend reading this one!!

Tessa Teevan...so young, and so damn talented! She drops hot men and off the charts good romance like a seasoned pro. This author has an unique ability to write deep profound emotions with such a light tone. Her characters are so relatable and real. With each work she puts out I feel the pressure...Can she really keep up with this high standard she herself set? So far, she has nailed it...her success so well earned!

You see, I thought she could get no better than Knox Wellington...

Then she went ahead and brought Cohen Wellington to my e-reader. Dear Lord! I admit I prefer a rougher man,a bit of an ass! Oh hell who and I kidding...I like a good challenge. Shock me crazy that this young man is everything I never knew I loved!

Smart, sexy, and a bit naïve, Cohen is on a path to greatness. One college party and a run in with an Elton John Tee and destiny is determined!

Andi Kane is just as young and naïve, but just 10 minutes of fun banter and GAME, SET, MATCH!

One night changes it all. The experience is LOL fun, somewhat hot in an OMG kinda way! DAMN those mornings after, right?

What if just one night could really determine your happiness? What if your "one" got away? Move on right? I mean for just two 20-somethings life is just starting...So much lost time and lost hearts. But hey they say distance makes the heart grow fonder, right?

NO WAY...not for this guy. NO amount of time or distance puts out the fire that Cohen feels when Andi is near. Thank heavens that boys grow up to be men...and my-oh-my does Cohen fill out and ahem...fill it up well!

Nothing surprising here. Just a good old fashioned LOVE FEST! Cohen Wellington knows what he wants...good thing for him Andi wants it too...the rest is just details!

So much to say about the fabulousness that is Combust, but to really say a lot would be a tragedy to those yet to experience it! NO bullshit, no games. Tessa Teevan has given a new kinda alpha to me...a smart, confident man who takes no shame in falling in love...take the journey with him, you will not be disappointed!

Andi Kane aka Ruby is an 18 yr. old girl headed off to college with her best friend Reese. Andi is the daughter of the Mayor of her small town of Bethal, TN. She is used to living under the watchful eye of her father & the town & is looking forward to getting to college & spreading her wings. She wants to be free to experiment, have fun, & figure out what she wants to do with her future. She is excited for this new chapter in her life & decides it just may include losing her virginity if she meets the right guy.

 photo b083dc75-036b-4fb9-ae4d-568453a9cc97.png

Andi & Reese head to Knoxville, & one of the first things they do as college students is attend their first frat party. The party scene really isn't Andi's thing, so she heads outside for some fresh air, and see's one of the cutest guys she's seen since moving on campus. He is absolutely beautiful & for Andi it is lust at first sight. They start talking & Andi realizes they actually have a lot in common & get along really well. This guy seems to feel just as out of place as Andi at this party & she finds out he was also dragged there by a roommate.

 photo 2c87f720-a9bf-41d9-922a-e3174fa05619.png

This gorgeous guy is also an 18 yr. old freshman & new to UT. His name is Cohen Wellington, & he's a chemistry major who is pre-med. They find they share a love of music & have a connection beyond their physical attraction. They decide to go back to Cohen's dorm room & listen to music since the party is so loud, & neither of them really want to be there. They drink a bit and spend the evening together.

 photo 32419a7e-e67e-4fe2-9225-ff21ee50412_edit_1408459399045.jpg

Cohen has always spent more time in the lab & library & never had a serious girlfriend. Things don't go quite as he planned & after they spend time together, Andi leaves & Cohen doesn't know how to get in touch with her again. He searches for her, but when he finally runs into her they realize the timing for them just isn't right. They are both trying to focus on classes & aren't really ready for a relationship.

 photo f188a49d-4466-4e95-831d-692ba2d6a24_edit_1408458154038.jpg

They take different paths, and don't see each other for 3 years, until they are only 4 months away from graduation. They run into each other & both realize that their connection is still there & just as strong. They both had always wondered what could have been if they hadn't walked away from one another. They have never forgotten what they meant to each other & how they feel when they're together. Cohen is thrilled to have her back in his life & they make up for lost time.

As usual Tessa has written another book boyfriend who has stolen my heart! I didn't think anyone could top Knox for me, but I think Cohen is now my #1 Wellington man! ;)) What I love about Tessa's men, is they all are such great guys who are also swoon worthy! And I had some major swoon going on for Cohen Wellington! This was a beautiful story of getting a second chance at love & showing us that love comes whether your ready for it or not & you better not let it slip through your fingers! I loved getting Cohen's POV & I can't wait for Branson up next! :D

-She intoxicates me in a way that no drug or drop of alcohol ever could, and if there was a twelve-step program to curb this addiction, I'd pray to God to keep all forms or serenity away because this is one addiction that's worth living with.

-I don't know what it is about you, but from the moment I laid eyes on you, I wanted you.

-It's time I claim her one hundred percent. Even if she doesn't know it, she has my heart and soul.

-The only place I can look is down, straight into Andi's eyes, and when I do, that's when I know that what I feel is real.

-"God, you're even more beautiful than I remember," she murmurs.

-"I feel like I've been waiting on that kiss all my life, but I could probably use some more convincing," she says as she lifts her lips up towards mine.

-This is just the beginning, Ruby, of something I know is going to be beautiful, and I want to make sure I'm completely clear this time about how I feel.

-I've never felt so sexy, so adored, and I wanted more.

-"It's funny. You're still the same sweet guy, but there's a confident, sexy side to you that I am loving getting to know. And I never know which one is going to show up at any given time."

-I've never felt so cherished, desired, or cared for.

-I have a feeling he's the only one who can satisfy me.

-"Don't let what could be the best thing in your life slip through your fingers."

-I want you in my life. I want you to be my girl.

-Andi, when I look into my future, what I see is you.

-You're mine, Ruby. And I hope that you consider me yours."

-Even if your brain tried to, your heart hasn't let you forget him.

-I'm all in. If you want me, I'm yours."

-He's mine. All mine.

-You can make as many rules for yourself as you want, but when the right girl comes along, it all flies out the window.

5 I-drop-my-panties-for-Cohen STARS

Okay, you can go ahead and do it. Slap me in the face. Why haven’t I picked up a Tessa Teevan book yet? I do.not.know.why!

But my cherry popped and Combust was so AWESOME, adorable, CUTE, LICKABLE (yes a book can be lickable) and kind of realistic (which is one of the reasons why I loved it so much).

Things I enjoyed :

College dynamics

Realistic expectations

No FLASHBACKS!

Totally cute moments

Romance and great character development

Rambling Thoughts…

Where do I even begin?! Andi and Cohen meet at frat party, totally typical for any college kids. It’s freshmen year and both are 18 years old. Andi wants to lose her virginity. She isn’t saving herself for marriage, but she wants to lose it the right way. Cohen wants to be a doctor. This is his dream and as a nerd he doesn’t have any time for relationships.

Andi and Cohen form a bond through music and go back to his place to hook up.

But! *gasp* Andi is just embarrassed by the whole situation and leaves. Cohen doesn’t even know her last name!

I love the way Andi and Cohen first meet. Don’t you remember dating for the first time in college? I remember thinking everything was about myself and life was just dramatic! Because Andi and Cohen are pretty dramatic.

I gobbled this up completely

The first half of Combust has angst and yes, everyone knows I can’t stand it, but this angst just worked for me. It kept me on my toes and I just wanted Andi and Cohen to figure out their problems. Both are so young and so inexperienced, they don’t know what they want.

I loved reading the tension between the two and I semi was pulling my hair. Maybe not pulling my hair, but a little tug here and there (just a tiny bit).

The second half the book shifts and it’s a completely different pace. It’s unexpected, but yet again, IT WORKED FOR ME. This was probably my favorite part of the book.

Oh and I love that Cohen is a nerd! Yes, I love my dominate alpha males, but a smart dominate alpha male, well yes please!

The thing that worked for me was that Combust was simply about Andi and Cohen’s relationship. The ups, downs and all around. I love these kind of reads. It gives me fond memories of my past relationships and yes it helps me hold on to my youth.

If you ever dated in college, you can totally relate to this couple. It was 100% up my alley. I loved it from start to finish.

BUT you don’t have to have a relationship like Andi and Cohen to relate to the story, I feel like if anyone wants a relationship to work and strives to feel wanted and loved (even if it’s not the right moment in your life) then you can relate to Combust. Does that make sense? If not, sorry I digress.

Overall, it’s a great story, with a touch of angst, but filled with adorable, makes-me-smile moments.

4,5 Second Chance Stars.

Cohen and Andi met for the first time three years ago in college. She was looking for new adventures, he was looking for new experiences. They share an instant attraction and an amazing night… but fate gets in their way and they fall apart for the next three years. Until they meet again.

description

Now, three years later and Cohen being Andi tutor, they’re older, mature and know how to take advantage of second opportunities… or so they think.
Does their love will be right this time and will it surpass the obstacles that will be thrown in their way… or once again will the timing be wrong for them?

description

Rating: 4,5 Stars.
Storyline: Sweet, entertaining and a great story for people who love NA. Tessa Teevan is quickly becoming one of my “to-go” authors for when I need a heartwarming book.
Writing Style:
Character Development: I loved Cohen, his sweetness and sense of humor. Let me tell you the Wellington brothers are awesome, but Knows is still my favorite. Andi was a little harder for me to swallow. I really dislike her in the beginning and the “friend card” she stupidly pulled. Half of their problems would be easily solved if she wasn’t so stubborn. But she did a lot of grown up and I end up liking her. It was awesome to see more of the previous couples and the continuation of their story after the HEA.
Steam: Some hot moments.

If you have read the Explosive series, then you will be familiar with Cohen. He is Knox Wellington's younger brother. I was super excited to read this one because I love me some Wellington men. And I have to say, Cohen nearly killed my freaking ovaries!!

Andi is in her first year of college. She's eighteen years old and still a virgin. After her best friend convinces her to go to a frat and have fun, she bumps into the and only Cohen Wellington. Cohen had been too busy with his studies. This resulted in him being a virgin in college, too. He's too young for any type of serious relationship, but something about Andi is different. They have their love of music in common. Talking and just being is easy when they are with each other. But unfortunately, after an awkward event takes place, they don't end up seeing each other until three years later.

●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●  ●

When they finally see each other again, their chemistry is still very much present. Andi tries really hard to deny it at first but it becomes really hard to resist Cohen. They are both scared by the intensity of it, but none is willing to stay away this time. It wasn't easy, and there were many misunderstanding between them, but that didn't stop them in falling for each other.

Andi was quite spunky and amusing. I liked how she wasn't afraid to go after what she wanted. Sure, she had her moments where she really frustrated me. Especially when it came to how she handled things. But, I enjoyed her confidence and how independent she was. Cohen, I loved too. But, the man had me crazy with the taking it slow stuff. It actually felt like I was the one waiting for three years for them to get it on. Haha!! Any way, Cohen was sexy, intelligent, and possessive. Like a Wellington should have, he had a sweet side that had me melting completely.

This second chance at love story was wonderful. I loved the characters, they both had their ups and downs but I liked them nonetheless. I loved their music banter since I liked many of the bands mentioned. I also liked how sweet they were together. It was romantic and funny. There was a lot of build up in the relationship, like ALOT, but it was worth it in the end. I was also so freaking happy to see characters from the Explosive Series in this book. Overall, it was great. I'm REALLY looking forward to Branson's book next. Can't freaking wait!

♫ You and I, We're like fireworks and symphonies exploding in the sky.
With you, I'm alive .. Like all the missing pieces of my heart, they finally collide. ♫

My Cohen

My Andi

This book was .. Sigh. Cohen was SO swoony! He sure has Wellington genes. He was a great hero.

The book start with our heroine. She's in collage and she decided its time to give her V card away.

At the party she met Cohen. To say sparks we're flying trough the air would be the understatement of the century. This two connected in a whole different level. Their dislike of the 'party' scene and their mutual love for music pulled them together and before they knew it they were talking about Slipknot and Elton.

"I just don't want you to regret this, to regret me, in the morning."

One thing led to the other and soon both of them lost their virginity to each other. Do you think it was magical? Do you think that the gates of heaven opened up? That Angels were playing the harp? So here where you're wrong! It was disaster. And all what Andi wanted was to run and never look back.

"I'll always remember the ruby-haired beauty in the Elton shirt."

To Cohen - it was magical.
To Andi - it was something she wanted to forget.

"Hey, at least you'll always remember your first time. Even though it seems like all you want to do is forget it."

I wanna say - Cohen was just adorable !!
Andi did a huge impact on him and no matter what, he always looked at her as if she was his something special. Andi frustrated me. I get it. She was young and acted like a teenager, but I was screaming for her to wake up and not letting this perfect guy slip away.

"Truth is, I can't get Andi off my mind, and it's unnerving."

♫ Without you, I feel broke.
Like I'm half of a whole.
Without you, I've got no hand to hold.
Without you, I feel torn.
Like a sail in a storm.
Without you, I'm just a sad song.
I'm just a sad song. ♫

When friendship didn't work out and both gave a mix CD playlist to each other - both went their own way, with a heavy heart, that something meaningful was slipping away.

♫ With you I fall. It's like I'm leaving all my past in silhouettes up on the wall.
With you I'm a beautiful mess. It's like we're standing hand in hand with all our fears up on the edge. ♫

Fast forward 3 years.
Both Cohen & Andi Changed a lot during that time. Both we're moving on with their life and both are not who they used to be three years back.

When fate interfere and put them back in each other's path they got a gift of a second chance. Cohen is not the same dork virgin guy he used to be when they met. Well, he was still sort of a dork lol but he was older. Mature. Experienced. But - He never fell in love. There was only one girl who he could give his heart to, but he let her slip away. When he become her tutor he know there isn't a chance he would let her go a second time.

"I don't think you're ready for this. For me. For us. And you know what, Ruby? That's okay. I've waited three years. I can be patient for a little while longer. I have a feeling things between you and me have only just begun."

To say Andi was surprised to see Cohen again wouldn't do the word justice. She was SHOCKED. But, she knew deep down she made a mistake by running away and realized her feelings for him never changed. She wanted him too and wouldn't made the same mistake again. Their night together did a number on both of them. It was so believable too. Usually thinking about meeting someone one night, you wouldn't remember him after a while. Not for them. Not only they remembered - they still FELT.

"When there's a song in your heart, you can't help but let it out. And Ruby, you're the lyric to the only song that's been beating within me since the moment i met you."

"You're not just my friend, and you're definitly not just the girl i'm tutoring. You're mine Ruby. And i hope that you consider me yours."

This book was amazing. A lot of funny scenes, HOT scenes, swoony scenes, KNOX scenes - after finishing this book I re-read Incinerate all over again ;)

And the music!! I gained some new cool songs for my playlist :D

"Where you're concerned, Ruby, I have no freaking clue what i'm doing. But i have a feeling i'm going to have a damn good time figuring it out."

"The only way I'll run for the hills is if i'm chasing you. And i'm pretty damn fast, so i'd advice against doing that."

"I was your first and if i have my way, i'm going to be your last."

Overall - read this book! It was amazing :)

♫ You're the perfect melody,
The only harmony
I wanna hear.
You're my favorite part of me,
With you standing next to me,
I've got nothing to fear. ♫

"You love her?"
"More then anything in the world. Fuck, she is my world."

Title:Combust
Series:The Wellingtons #1
Author:Tessa Teevan
Release date: August 19, 2014
Rating:4 stars
Cliffhanger:No
HEA:

What is Combust about? Two people who are very right for each other meeting at the wrong time. Two people who have a deep connection who speak to each other without words through music. It's a second chance story about two people that from the minute they meet, have a natural fit-you can clearly see that they are the counterpart for each other. But circumstances and mixed signals get in their way of starting a relationship together.

I've been a big fan of Tessa Teevan for a while now, so I was so excited to start a new series all about the Wellingtons who were introduced to us in her Explosive series. As usual, I fell hard for the main characters-Cohen and Andi were adorable together! They understood each other, felt comfortable together, and their sense of humor matched in a way that made them seem like they've known each other forever. After meeting each other one night their freshman year, that one night shapes and changes them in a way that they'll never be the same again. They flirt, they talk, they learn one another through music, and they have a disastrous sexual experience that I just had to laugh at. It was just awful! But that one thing scared Andi off and made her doubt her feelings which caused a whole lost of misunderstandings and a long separation. Despite them being unable to connect for several reasons, they never forget each other and no one else can ever measure up to what they experienced that night.

"Just for the record, in case you forgot, I'm Cohen Wellington." She looks at me with the sweetest expression on her face.
"Just for the record, Cohen Wellington, I never forgot."

They continue to cross paths during their years at school, but their inability to communicate with each other about their feelings prevents them from finally getting together. This caused angst, tension, and for me, frustration. Nothing bothers me more in New Adult than miscommunication/non-communication and this book had that in spades. I understand why it was there, but honestly, I wish there had been less of it. They were their own worst enemies and they had a lot of growing to do in order to be able to reconnect for good.

I wanted to shout, "Hallelujah!" when they finally worked themselves out because they were absolutely adorable together. Cohen was a total sweetheart and had it bad for Andi. He wore his heart on his sleeve and would do anything to make her happy.

If Andi were my girl, there's no way in hell I'd be out with anyone else. I'd spend all my time so wrapped up in her that no other woman would compare.

As they got older, their attraction and deep feelings only intensified. Cohen grew up. He grew physically, he gained confidence and experience, and Andi grew into the realization that the biggest mistake of her life was walking away that morning after they met. They had a great chemistry that, (sorry for the pun) would combust with one glance at each other. They try to take things slow this time. Fast didn't work out too well for them the first time, and Cohen is determined not to make the same mistake twice. He's never going to let her slip through his fingers again now that she's agreed to be his. Well...that's a whole lot easier said than done.

"Have I turned you into a fiend, Andi Kane?"
"I think I've been a fiend for a long damn time, Cohen. I just didn't know you were my drug of choice."

Their feelings grow from respect, friendship, comfort, and seeing the reflection of themselves in each other.

My love for these characters overrode my dislike for the frustrating conflicts. I totally "got" this couple and rooted for them the whole way. They were romantic, fun, and incredibly adorable. I loved being able to spend more time with Knox and Charlie as well! They were my favorite couple in the previous series and now, I'm left wondering, how is Tessa going to redeem Branson in the next book? If anyone can do it, she can.

"There will never be anyone else for me, Ruby. You're it. And I meant what I said. Your first and your last. I want to be your forever."

There’s a feel of second chance at romance in this one – although it’s not the typical. And you get a double dose of virginity, too. Can’t remember that happening very often and it added lots of color to this story. Tessa Teevan brings her own style and talents to the table when we once again visit the college campus trope with an original twist. I adored everything about “Combust,” the first book in TT’s new series. Teevan constructs a believable storyline and gives us main characters in Cohen Wellington and Andi Kane, who act their age playing silly games and making the crazy mistakes college students seem to follow, while still smart and driven in their education and future aspirations.

A really well-done one-night stand that leaves both Cohen and Andi with their own take on the situation. Of course, neither gives the other a face-to-face chance at righting the wrongs. Three years pass and they don’t meet again until their senior year when one is assigned to tutor the other unknowingly. And this is when the real story begins and the relationship develops beautifully. Cohen Wellington is a heart stealer and goes on the list of forever great book boyfriends.

The love for music that is shared between them reflects positively on their story throughout. I really enjoyed the role that it plays in the chemistry between the main characters. Music fills the heart and speaks loudly when nothing else can at times.

An exquisitely satisfying read. I’m definitely looking forward to more of the Wellingtons when Branson gets his story told on October 29, 2014.

first book by this author, and i'm impressed. there were times in the book however where i couldn't absolutely connect, but i read on. i liked the end result, despite how obvious it was since the beginning. the next book looks amazing though! there was a tiny sneak peak at the end of this one, and if that is anything to go by, i think i might possibly like that one more than this one.

Cohen and Andi's story (or Ruby)
4 stars.
I just love this author!! She has written some pretty fantastic swoon worthy Heroes! Cohen was definitely a sensitive guy. He was super sweet and in the end a complete sweetie...a little too unrealisticly sweet...but hey- that's what we girls love!

Heck yes!! Cohens book!!!

Meh. This was just okay. I had a hard time staying focused. There was nothing wrong with the characters, they weren't horrible people, but for some reason I didn't like them much. They kind of annoyed me. I don't know why. They just did. There were also quite a few errors, missing words, etc. That always annoys me but my level of annoyance with it depends on how engaged in the story I am. I didn't love this book but I was engaged enough to want to stick it out and finish. Overall, it was a simple, quick read. Perfect for passing time.

Them Wellington boys. Sexy. Hot. Sweet.
Cohen was an awesome main character in this book. Gotta love them nerdy and sweet boys! Andi is one of those girls I'd love to have in my circle. Plus Reese, Cy, & Teddy rounded out this book very nicely. I love a great story, great words, great chemistry.

And I ❤️ my Double T.

"Because I was your first. And if I have my way, I’m going be your last.”

When I begin a Tessa Teevan book I find myself getting comfortable and planning on staying put for a pretty good while.

I get lost in the story and the characters always seem to just burrow their way into my heart leaving an undeniable imprint and something special  for me to think about for days to come. Combust was just what it should have been titled  in every way. These two characters were electric and passionate and from the first encounter they were drawn to each other in a deeply emotional way.

Being young and immature they both made some pretty stupid mistakes early one and I wanted to shake them several times. But tessa has a way to make things just work out just the way they are supposed to.

Andi and Cohen had a lot of growing up to do before they could have ever worked as a couple and I enjoyed this sweet love story in so many ways. Cohen was just enough of a sweetheart and sexy alpha that I was in romance heaven.

I can't wait for Branson's story and I admit to being a brooding hero addict. give me more Tessa ..I just need it now.

My review:

Tessa Teevan does it again!!! Andi aka Ruby and Cohen meet when they are both freshman in college. Both are virgins for their own reasons and they meet one night at a party and TOTALLY hit it off. They are completely compatible with each other. After a drunken night and several misunderstandings, these two go their own separate ways. Fast forward 3 years later and fate brings this lovely couple back together. Except this time, Cohen isn't willing to let his Ruby go without a fight. From there this story deals with real college life issues. There is no unnecessary drama with previous lovers/GFs/BFs, which I appreciated. Music also plays a major role in this story as that is one of the main things that ties this couple together is their love of music. I enjoyed the flow of this story and the dual POVs. I enjoyed seeing our other Wellington favorites as well. Knox and Charlie play a big role in this story. Also Branson. Now, I will tell you, I never liked Branson or was interested in hearing about his story until I read this book. Now, I HAVE TO READ HIS STORY! LOLOL!!!

With that said, I can't wait to read more from this author!

Note to self: Yes I did read this (in case I forget in the future) and I was bored. This is a forgettable read for me.

Currently half way through and struggling to finish this, am starting to skim. Storyline not grabbing me.

Guy & girl meet as virgins & sleep together same night they meet. Try & talk to each other for next 3 weeks but end up going off with other people. Don't see each other for 3 years and in this time both H/h hookup with different partners. See each other again by chance & they start it up again....yawn...felt no real heat or connection between them. Neither one was much fussed about not being in touch during those 3 years, content to just hookup with randoms. I'm half way through and they've only just met again now...too wishy washy for me. Doesn't help that I find the h irritating.

I was fortunate enough to get a copy of this from Tessa prior to release and it was just what the dr ordered! After the brilliantly funny prologue of this book I knew it was going to be a good read. I wasn't disappointed either, the story of Cohen (who is seriously the sweetest guy on the planet, who just so happens to be gorgeous and smart) and Andi (who is a strong chick who knows what she wants in life with a fantastic sense of humour) leaves you filled with the warm fuzzies wondering where you can find yourself one of those! Another great book to add to Tessa's collection. This book was easy to read and has the always awesome happy ending leaving you with a smile on your dial.
