i feel like a simply can’t rate these books. the story lines are interesting enough and short enough so that it’s always a quick read but there are certain aspects that make me feel grimey while reading. the book literally has the subtitle “hood romance” so idk if this is just a me issue or what

Let’s get right to it—because the way Book 1 ended with Kendrick getting hit by a car and slipping into a coma? INSANE. I knew he wasn’t gonna die—we’ve got three more books to go—but that still threw me for a loop. And the fact that this man woke up from said coma and immediately got up out the hospital bed to handle street business? 😂 Be for real. Full strength after weeks laid out? Fiction really be fictioning! But hey, he did what needed to be done because Michael had officially lost his damn mind doing what he did to Nic.

Now I know folks might be frustrated with Nic and her choices, but I felt her on this one. Like… how other couples got rings and marriages but I’m the first one to give you a baby and nothing? She wanted commitment, and I respect the hell outta her for standing on that. That scene at the party with Honey and Kendrick? INFURIATING. The disrespect was out of line.

Jessica and Kenton? Whew… he’s on my shit list. Yes, Jessica was wrong for putting hands on him, but his reaction? Absolutely uncalled for. Especially considering he was out with a chick at 4 AM. Like… sir, what?! Nah, I would’ve blacked out too. That would’ve been his final scene in my life, but that’s her man, so I’ma let her rock… for now.

Christy, chile… Her hardheaded behind listened to Jessica and ended up in a mess she couldn’t get herself out of. Thankfully, the King men were on standby, cape and all, ready to save her.

Danielle Moore aka Nic’s hating little cousin: Her desperate attempt to get a baller landed her in a pimp’s lap. But instead of becoming bottom-of-the-barrel, she meets Damien Kidd—and I ain’t gonna lie, I was confused why he was so gone over a streetwalker. Still, I’m glad he saved her gullible self. Maybe now she’ll retire from hating… maybe. I got my eyes on her goofy ass tho.

Morgan and Dreeis? Love them. They had their baby, stayed low and outta drama, and just seemed like a sweet lil couple. But with the way this book ended? Oh, baby… they peace ’bout to be disturbed. Another war is clearly loading. 👀

Also, I just wanna shout out the streets for doing what needed to be done:

All got exactly what they deserved. Now if we can just handle that July hoe next… 🙄

Once again I'm giving this series a 4 stars because of the errors and the over exaggerated story line. When I first starting reading the continuation of book 1 it was ok, but then when I got to the part about Kendrick being in a coma for weeks and then one day he just happen to wake up, I'm like ok I'm so happy he did but then the dam Author wrote how he got up and ripped off all of his tubes and walked out the hospital after being awake for 30. Like how crazy is that, it was too far fetched and I wanted to scream actually. Anyway since I already reed book 1 and 2 I will read book 3, but I'm not sure I will be reading any more books by this Author.

book two wastes no time reminding us that the honeymoon stage is officially over. the king brothers have enemies coming from every direction, and now their women are directly in the line of fire too. the tension stays high the entire time, and honestly? it was stressful in the way only hood drama can be 😭

there are so many moving characters at this point that i genuinely needed a family tree and maybe a whiteboard. loyalties are shifting, new threats are popping up, and everybody seems to be reacting off emotion instead of strategy. sometimes it felt like i was playing catch-up just trying to keep track of who was connected to who.
and while all of that chaos is happening… these people are still finding time to have sexy time at the WORST possible moments. like please 😭 the streets are literally on fire.

the domestic violence storyline was heavy and uncomfortable, and that part definitely hit harder than i expected. it added a layer of realism that wasn’t easy to digest, but it mattered.
french showing up and being a whole pedo pimp? absolutely not on my bingo card. that reveal shifted the energy completely.

nic and kendrick going back and forth stressed me OUT. every time you think they might stabilize, something else pulls them apart. and jessica and christie getting kidnapped? again… not prepared.
and then there’s michael. i’ll just say this gently — he was beyond disappointing this book. his choices? reckless at best.
overall, the drama, secrets, and tension kept me engaged, but at times it felt like a lot happening all at once. i’m still invested in the series, but whew… i need these couples to breathe for five minutes 😭

Book picks up right where it left off when Kendrick is hit by a truck that was set up by July’s trifling tail. Now I understand her grievances to a point but babygirl when you lie with dogs; you get bite. Trenton was dirty! Harvey didn’t deserve his ending nor did Tia.

Kendrick ended up in a coma for a few months during that time- Paris & Micheal become more delusional. Micheal stalks Nic and ends up kidnapping her and raping her. He gets so upset that she doesn’t want him that he drops her off bloody and naked to her mama. Paris silly ass is taking her tail up there to the hospital and stealing kisses. Kendrick wakes up and she tells him immediately. This fool pulls the cords out and goes on a hunt for Micheal. He handles him immediately.

In the meantime Houston is plotting on the King Brothers. He’s got ran out of Chicago and is trying to take over. He’s weak sauce. His baby mama Honey rats him out because she wants Kendrick. Kendrick only lets her top him off because Nic ends up leaving him because he keeps pushing the wedding date back. He feels they should wait until they deal with the Houston issue.

Kendon- I don’t like you at all! You didn’t have to hit Jessica like that. You beat her ass like a nigga! Next time Jess- hit his ass with a bat. You were very inappropriate with Honey! Jessica is a reformed hoe- she knew what that energy was and you tried to play her. Jessica will submit when you stop playing games!

Morgan and Kydrese- can’t remember to much what happened with yall besides Morgan being pregnant.

Now Danielle and Tia- yall linking up with the opps is going to end badly for yall!

Kendrick, yep, I will keep on saying it, your are bae, and bae, and bae all day. You were able to hold off until she came to her senses. I was hoping you were going to just do it and not take this long, but since we needed to fill pages, it's all good, you still did your thing after.
Jessica, man, you truly get on my last nerve and if you lose every thing, well boo-oo to you because you were so wrong on so many level and you have truly become the bottom of favorite girls ever. Ladies, why do you cry over spill milk and when you finally have what you want you don't appreciate. I truly hope you stay alone because that's what you are gunning for.
Kendon, Kendreis, Kayden you guys are so fine and so good and Christy and Morgan you better hold on to them now.
I am so happy that Gina, Paris, French, Tia(unfortunately), all met with Karma and she handled them. Danielle got lucky, but I was hoping she met her as well. Now don't know what's happened to July, but I do hope she wise up befOre she takes on the Kings; and where is Honey and Cadence, hummm, let me find out... This is getting better with every single book, goo job though...

The King Brothers are something else

I enjoyed book 2 a lot more than I enjoyed book 1. I knew that things were going too smoothly for the King brothers, so I was happy that book 2 displayed some of the hardships they had to face navigating their lives as street bosses. Seeing how they dealt with adversity was a great element of the story. They seem to get through things well enough. Life became hectic for Nic and her friends as well. They were used to being wined and dined, but in this book they experienced everything that came with the lifestyle their significant others were living. I'm excited to see what's to come in the next book. I definitely recommend this one to anyone who likes a good hood fairytale.

This is giving tubi movie vibes. The plot is addictive and the cliffhamgers are just enough to make you want to go to the next one. Its not that the book is bad, the writing is just different from what I am use to from this authors making me believe this is some of her earlier work. She still has the ability to keep you eith the story, but just not as much....

The characters are all young and annoying. Its like a YA urban fiction. I love YA normally, but these characters are just irritating. Yet, I still want to know what happens. I will see if I will come back for the third book.

Mannnn Getting thru these books are a struggle. Initially the story line was interesting but 75% of the book were explicit sex scenes. It seemed a bit over the top. The storyline also lacked depth and was pretty typical. I won’t even bother to finish the series.
