to everyone (or no one’s) surprise, i actually enjoyed this an immense amount. for such a complicated topic, i found the organization of ideas and particulars to be excellently done.

i have so many questions. so many curiosities. i can 100% see myself coming back to this book in the future with the purpose of trying to understand more. i feel both smarter and dumber.

i particularly enjoyed the dip into the philosophical that the author took throughout the book. 125 pages of quantum physics and i don’t think i was bored a single time. impressive feat.

when it comes to quantum physics, i am an absolute novice. so can i speak on the accuracy of this material? no. but that’s not really the point, and i’ll leave that to the professionals.

all that to say, if you’re open to expanding your mind and have a couple hours on your hands, i think this one is worth the read.

Explicado de manera sencilla e incluso puedo decir amena, este libro plantea de la manera más sencilla las bases de la física cuántica. Es en realidad "para principiantes" todo esta a un nivel básico.

Perfect audiobook for lovely spring walks, but the clear explanations give rise to more questions. Good to know there’ll always be a job for theoretical physicists! If you want to know your Copenhagens from your Many Worlds, find out about some of the known and lesser known names in physics, and explore where Quantum will take us in the future*, this is a few hours well worth your time.

Quantum Physics is always a fascinating subject. It can permanently alter our perception of reality and calls into question our commonsense beliefs about cause and consequence, determinism, and the objectivity of the cosmos.

“This quantum behavior is critical for the operation of electronic devices such as transistors and lasers, which are foundational to modern technology, including computers and smartphones.” p.65

I listened to the audiobook. There were several "typos", e g. Plank length is 10 to the 35th power meters (should be minus 35th).

There was a ton of redundancy, clearly not a book meant to be read from start to finish.

While a short book, I still think your time would be better spent looking at the table of contents and if a topic looks interesting, check it out at the simple wikipedia

I listened to the enthusiastically narrated audiobook for this one and found it very entertaining. Some of the concepts are so bizarre that it might help to be non-scientific while you’re trying to get your head round them.
Lots of topics are introduced and referred to as the book progresses and there is a sense throughout the book that our knowledge of the quantum realm is currently only scratching the surface.
Recommended.

This one is not a light read. The book seems to be redundant at times but I think its to help wrap your mind around the complex theories presented, this is especially needed as a beginner guide into quantum physics. If you enjoy theoretical physics or even sci-fy, this book is, simply, a mind bender. It contains possible explanations for the unexplainable/unimaginable universe we live in. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I don't think this is the best book for beginners. This is better for people who already know something about quantum mechanics but needs/wants a quick refresher. From a teaching standpoint this is too short and the examples need more fleshing out to really help capture things like the Heisenberg uncertainty principle. Additionally many of the claims oh how amazing quantum mechanics work in biological systems falls flat (particularly the evolution of photosynthesis) when that's just the physical/chemical frameworks organisms are confirmed to. Kinda like saying gravity makes things fall so that's why rivers work (yeah no $hit!). So this isn't a bad book but definitely wouldn't call it great. 2.7/5 rounded down.

challenges the fundamental nature of reality

The author breaks down theories and explains them in common terms. You must approach these explanations with an open mind and a willingness to understand the complexities of the universe.

interesting

My son loves science and it’s really not my subject but he gets all excited about it. This book is explained very well in theories that even I could understand. Quantum Physics is not easy to explain but the author does a great job.

Absolutely mind blowing! Well laid out and thought provoking while still being easy to understand as a layperson with very little knowledge of quantum mechanics or physics. Super fast and engaging read, I loved it!

This I not academic. It's just a collection of some fascinating jargons to intrigue and some explanation of those terms.

really good read, i know bits about it before but this book uses a lot of metaphors to help explain the concepts making me want to go away and learn more

I didn’t mind the redundancy, I actually thought this was really effective at explaining the basic concepts concisely and accessibly!

Listened to the audiobook and it was a good overview but at times felt like it was AI produced, both the text and the reader

Accessible, mind bending, but not very well written. If you like physics, give it a go.

This was really fun to read. I have a science background, so it may have been easier. I can't wait to look into the effects of quantum mechanics on medicine, biology, and genetics.
