Buildings and people are covered in blue. Believing this is a dream, he is proven wrong and finds out that he is in the Ghost Realm and is himself an Unborn Ghost.

Ashur, now the Unborn Ghost, only has eight hours to find his body or be sealed away forever with no true afterlife. With the help of Mallory, Ahan, Benjamin, and Sukie, they will guide Ashur to safely find his body. However, there will be obstacles trying to stop the group.

The Perfect Ghost Society, or P.G.S., are ghosts bent on stopping him and his friends in order to keep their perfect society of spirits intact. Another is a natural threat to the Unborn Ghost. Mysterious shadows hide amongst the ghosts, and they only hunt down the color of white. Will Ashur get to his body within eight hours, or is he doomed to be sealed away forever?

fun, unique, and intriguing

The concept of this book is so interesting, and the author really executed it well. The characters are realistic and likable, the world-building is different and unexpected, in a good way! I felt like the narrative was a tad clunky, wishing it would have ‘showed’ a bit more rather than ‘tell.’ But the story was still intriguing, none the less, and fun. And the epilogue gave it a nice touch to the end.

I was a beta reader for this book, and more than happy to read the final product. Overall, I really like this book. The writing style is not something I personally vibe with, but it’s not bad. There are some grammatical/spelling errors but I expect that with any book I get. The story is unique, and I teared up at the end. The action scenes were my favorite, and a character I didn’t care for much in the beginning I ended up really liking towards the end. I’ll be sharing this with my friends, and I hope to see more of the authors work in the future.

I would love to give this book a higher star level. I like the story and the different look at ghosts and the afterlife. It is truly an original thought to have an unborn ghost. I had to lower the star rating because I feel the book could use a good edit and proofread then be released without many changes, yet the changes will make the book easier to read and will flow a bit better. Maybe it is me being a writer, but a story's grammatical nuances help with the flow. This one was just a bit off. Still a fun read and an interesting story.

I listened to the audio edition while I drove for Amazon. I thought the adventure was really fun to go on. It had a great balance of wonder and angst. The author's description of the Ghost Realm (although not thorough) painted a picture of a place I would love to visit. Following Ashur and his friends on this journey had me on edge, hoping he could stay away from everything that was after him. In the end, this was a fun story that definitely had me thinking about how much I value living in THIS realm.

In "Unborn Ghost," the narrative sweeps readers into a hauntingly immersive world where Ashur, an ordinary man, faces extraordinary stakes. When Ashur finds himself trapped in the Ghost Realm, he learns he has only eight hours to find his physical body or be condemned to eternal unrest. The premise is as compelling as it is unique, blending existential dread with a thrilling race against time.

The book's atmosphere is richly depicted. Descriptions of the blue-tinted buildings and spectral characters create a vivid and otherworldly setting. I particularly appreciated how the author masterfully used the color blue to evoke a sense of melancholy and eeriness, which deepened my engagement with the story. For instance, Ashur's initial realization that this is no mere dream but a perilous reality is portrayed with striking intensity: "He thought it was a dream until the cold realization set in; this was not a place he could wake up from."

The characters, especially Mallory, Ahan, Benjamin, and Sukie, are well-developed and provide essential guidance to Ashur, adding depth to his quest. Their interactions with Ashur offer moments of emotional resonance and camaraderie, making the stakes feel personal. Their support and the obstacles they face, including the relentless Perfect Ghost Society (P.G.S.) and the sinister shadows, create a gripping narrative tension.

Reading "Unborn Ghost" felt particularly personal to me. The struggle of escaping a realm where time is slipping away mirrored my own experiences with moments of anxiety and urgency in my life. The idea of being trapped in an unchangeable situation and fighting for a second chance is something that resonates deeply. It reminded me of the importance of perseverance and the value of connections with others during challenging times.

Ultimately, the book's blend of suspense, rich world-building, and emotional depth makes it a compelling read. The story's conclusion leaves readers reflecting on the thin veil between the living and the dead, anqd how we navigate our own fears and hopes within it.
